Thanks mate!! Where can I download, please?
There is no download.
I'll try to post a screen of the tactic and the results tonight (if I have the time).
Actually you have almost everything you need to replicate it.
Instructions I forgot to mention:
- In transition: roll out, pass to central defenders
- Out of possession: step up more
Situational: "pass into space".
Good luck with Barça !0 -
I play a 4-3-3.
With FB sitting narrower, WB sitting wider, DM hold position and take more risks, CM has roam from position and take more risks and IF has sits narrower and roam from position.
I play through the middle.
Striker can change to DLF(s) or AF (depends on situation).
Great succes so far.
Won 12 and draw 1 in competition.
Won 2 and lost 1 in CL (lost to PSV away ...)0 -

Last match played was against Sporting at home.
We won 4-0.
No problems I hear you say? Wrong!
We had 20 shots - 8 on target, Xg of 3,48 but only a possession of 40%.
What's the problem then?
Well they had 60% possession with 9 players, they had 2 red cards ...
Guess what? They played a 3-4-3 DM.
I changed the tactics a bit.
Instead of the DM i used a volante on support, played wider to stretch their defense, played slower, Ramos as PF instead of AF, SK(d) instead of Ke(d), ...
Still they had 60% at the end of the match with 11 vs 9 ...
What would have happened if we played 11 vs 11 all game? Guess we'll never know?
Match statsBase tactic (I start every game with this and make adjustments according to the opposite):

You did not mentioned what mentality are you using ! I will guess it's either positive or attacking. Now if the 12th in the league is having 60% it could be your players are loosing the ball quicker than it's supposed and this could be because they are taking excessive risks (higher mentalities), or not closing down (line of engagement, close down more or much more). It's not just about player roles and duties, check what is happening during the match.
I play on balanced mentality, even then they had 60% possesion ...
Changed the mentality after I conceded the goal.
I'll try to implement the suggetions above and see how it goes.0 -

Hm If you want heavy wing play, then you'll be looking for halfback in the DM role.
Difficult to prevent distribution against a back 5 and a double pivot, also I just don't think it functions very well in the ME. Playing out from the back is really hard if not impossible against a high press so it's always almost preferable to have them pass to the CBs than potentially launch a counter attack.
Makes sense for turning off 'prevent short gk distribution' against a back 5 and a double pivot since I'm outnumbered.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try to make some changes tonight.
My tactical idea is/was:
- Let the backs fly up the wings. With Guerreiro & Bah the have very attacking minded backs (with solid back-ups).
- Double DM pivot to cover for the wingbacks
* DM/s covering the CWB/s
* Anchor covering for the even more attacking WB/A
- I had mixed succes with an AP/s (or AP/A) in the AMR position. Joao Mario was the player I was positioning there, but I can't seem to find the best role for him.
- With the AP/s (or IW/s) and WB/a on the right wing, we could create an overload, with Ramos lurking in the box and Schjelderup surging in from the left and Guerreiro holding the width. Even the DM's lurk at the edge of the box (I was suprised by the Anchor to get so high up the pitch).
But this tactic isn't working (well) against the 3-4-3 DM.
I'll look into this to get more bodies forward centrally.
Maybe one regista and one CM/d or DM/s and have both WB on support? With stretching the field a bit and focus down the middle...
Can I ask why to turn off prevent short gk distribution?
I'll (try) to keep you posted.1 -
Daily reader, no poster but now I wanted to make an exeption.
I'm playing Benfica on FM23, in a 4-2-3-1 shape.
I'm doing great, sitting second after Porto with no loses so far (11 wins - 4 draws). Ramos banging goals with his eyes closed (more goals than apperances). Going to the next round in the champions league (which is against Bayern ...) and still in the cup.
Now I'm struggling against teams that play 3-4-3 DM (is this standard now for AI? Cause I'm encountering this a lot!)
I have a lot of shots on goal, but only a few on target (either blocked, high and wide, ...). I can't seem to penetrate their defenses ...
Last match I was playing the 12th in the league away (forgot the name and since I'm not at my home computer), they played in a 3-4-3 DM a they had like +60% possesion, had a lot of chances, scored a nice team goal and I scored a lucky one.
What can I do to beat there defenses? Play wider? Faster? More direct?
I'm not complaining, I'm doing great but it's frustrating that I can't win against the weaker opposition.
Home made tactic:
GK: goalkeeper on defend (Vlachodimos)
DL: CWB on support (Guerreiro - Grimaldo went to Man City :-()
DCL: BPD on defend (Otamendi)
DCR: CD on defend (Verissimo)
DR: WB on attack (Bah)
DML: DM on support (Aursnes)
DMR: Anchor (Luis)
AML: IW on support (Schjelderup)
AMC: AM on support (Rafa)
AMR: IW on support (Neres)
ST: AF (Ramos)
No extra PI's.
TI's: Shorter passing, play out of defense, counter-press, counter, high press, higher defensive line, more often & prevent short GK distribution.0 -
Make both wingers Inside Forwards and ditch the overlap on both sides!
Overlap makes them wait on the attacking wingback, hold the ball longer, don't run at defence much, ...

Can I ask why you use hold up ball on inside forwards?
I always play similar tactics, but never used hold up ball ... seems contradictory to me. IF has dribble more, run at defence, ...

I’m also doing a Barca save (started in the Beta) and am halfway through 3rd year. Won La Liga in both years and made deep runs in UCL too.
Billion euro total debt was not a problem as Barca produces monster revenue. (No Covid limitations from start helps). The bigger financial issue is the new (for FM) La Liga registration salary cap. Given that, biggest challenge is off loading the declining old guard. I largely did that after season 1. I had to agree to pay some of their salary, but managed to get rid of Alba, Pique, Coutinho, Dembele (resigned to get sale; too injury prone for me) and Neto. The game has Griezmann’s loan details wrong (it’s compulsory buy if he plays 50% of ATM games), so when he unexpectedly returned, I sold him too - thankfully PSG bought him for about €40 million almost immediately after Mbappe left for Bayern on a free.
Once you clear the old guard, you just need to carefully watch you total payroll number so you don’t bump up against salary limit (which does change season to season). So don’t go overboard in paying squad players. Also, be mindful that Barca B has a salary limit too! And it’s tiny so it creates an issue with placing prospects on high salaries there.
As a Barca fan, definitely enjoying the save developing many of our home grown players into top players. Good stuff.
Can you share tactics? I'm intrested how fellow Barça fans play.
I started a Barça save aswell, and I was struggling in the beginning of the season (now in november). Lot's of 0-0 draws, losing to Valencia and on top of that losing 4-1 to Bayern in the champions league. Things starting to get better, but I'm struggling with goal scoring. Mostly I win 1-0. My last game tho was against Real Madrid and I won 3-0 (using same tactic) -> go figure!
Sold Braithwaite, neto and didn't buy any players. Umtiti is a pain in the ass, nobody wants him (not even for free!).

I play this with Barcelona: good possesion and passing
F9 (su)
IF (su) IW (su)
AP (A) RPM (su)
DLP (De/Su) -> depends on the opposition
CWB (su) D (de) BPD (de) CWB (su)
SK (A)
With following instructions:
In possesion: work ball into the box, very short passing, much slower tempo, underlap left and right, low crosses, dribble less, be much more creative, play out of defence, wider play
Out of possesion: higher def line, much higer line of engagement, defend narrow, prevent short GK distribution, more urgent pressing, play offside trap
Mentality: attacking at home, positive on away.

It is actually the preset tactic. The only thing I change is DLF into F9, Winger into IF and the pressing. Honestly the movement are pretty good and I enjoyed seeing it. The three playmakers works great with each other. They don't make risky passes as much as I thought they would too.
HB would help I guess. Although they still tend to drift higher right? Anyway, thanks.
I use the same tactic. I added: play through the middle, underlap left and right, play wider (instead of narrower to give my wingers room to cut in)
HB stays in positions, uses short passing and tend to drop between the central defenders to create a 3 men defense.
Against counter-attacking I tend to drop my defense deeper and a lower line of engagement instead of higher up the pitch. I also defend narrower.

What tactics do you use?
I'm running a Barcelona myself and I'm alway curious what tactics other people use with Barcelona.
I started after Messi left.
Edit.
I mean what roles and such you use.
