I am managing Sunderland in my 6th season in the PL. In the first 4 seasons, we were always improving, with a 4th place finish at the end of the 4th season. Using the same tactics, not selling any of my first XI players, and instead buying new players that should have improved on my first XI, I barely managed to get 8th place in the 5th season. I got 11 points less than previous season. Now, in my 6th season, I am again struggling around mid-table. I am looking for any suggestions on what I could change or what I seem to be doing wrong. I'm mainly struggling to score goals, despite being the 2nd top scorer in my 4th season, and my first XI is the exact same, except for RW, CDM, and one CB. Here is my main tactic (although it says counter attack, it was more aimed to be gegenpress):
I don't have any crazy PIs other than Shoot More Often on players with good long shots and finishing.

I feel like I should be able to keep pushing top 4 with this team, but instead, I'm currently 9th with 13 games in, with a record of 7-1-5 and 6 points behind the top 4 already. Any suggestions on what's holding me back?
