  1. SC Kriens Season 3 (2025/26)

    League Table

    Table.png.b2148ef376478b31fc326b7c62ca97eb.png

Another pretty uneventful season in the league, but at least we still managed to stay up. We only had the second worst defense this season, so that's somewhat improved, but our defending remains our biggest weakness. We didn't really get far into the Swiss Cup either, only managing to make it to the second round. Overall I saw things I liked from the team, but quality-wise we just aren't ready yet. This was also the first year that youth players got significant playing time, so I imagine that may have had something to do with it as well.

    Intake

    Intake.thumb.png.aed045874a3783994820ecbbec28ff21.png

This year's group is a good one in terms of potential, with 5 of our newcomers being listed as Elite Talents. The only downside is most of them are DMs, so some might not to be retrained for other roles.

    MatteoLauener.png.e2c07fb96dfc966253ddefa3cc74126d.png

A solid midfield prospect, I think he'll start getting games soon.

    JurgCotter.png.2a01e9fb1622b0b11df9a37dcc2e4eca.png

Good tackling and the highest workrate of the bunch, along with his high aggression, makes him seem like the best contender for staying as a DM.

    FedericoNumeroso.png.b05e4ec646ba85d09f8e6b704b9acfc1.png

The tallest of the bunch, he might end up being retrained as a CD.

We added no new nations in this year's intake.

    Countries: 18/227 (7.93%)

    Transfers

    Poached.jpg.b4b17e5a7b65bb81d070e4da70967476.jpg

We had no transfers out, but we did receive news that 2 of our youth team players were poached away by other teams. We'll be keeping an eye out for them.

    Upgrades

    Upgrades.png.ea4740febf09046f7f774343bb510952.png

During the season I managed to convince the board that we needed to invest some money into upgrading our youth facilities, as well as upgrading our youth recruitment. I've been very fortunate that the board has gone along with almost all of our requests. I also convinced them to get an affiliate club, Zug 94, to send our young players on loan to.

    Review

    Review.png.d5923db4bfb9279f90c822e064b8bace.png

This was another really solid year for us to build upon. Major upgrades have been nice, and our attendance has also been rising, which means more money. On a personal level, I was offered the job at St. Gallen at one point during the season, which shocked me considering they were 3rd in the top division at the time. There's also been some rumors of a takeover, but so far they're just rumors. We will see what the summer break brings.

  2. After having been away from the game for a while, I tried to return to my save with Wacker Innsbruck, but I just didn't feel the same love for the team or players that I once did. With that in mind I have decided to start anew, in a place I have tried to conquer before, albeit unsuccessfully. I have returned to Switzerland with:

    Facilities

    KriensFacilities.png.8f7250165d88e3614b102fc40ecd41fb.png

We have a pretty decent level of facilities to start with. I hope that our Good training facilities can give us a good starting point for player development.

    Starting Squad

    KriensSquad.thumb.png.5aba13ba05c45e09bcfd0bece4e1f41d.png

A decent squad to start with journey with, but a little bare-bones for my liking. Only having one natural CB will prove to be a challenge. Based on what I have available, I decided to play with a 4-2-4.

    League Table

    Kriens-FinalTable.png.936f2f8f2c26d407a8ee7289fe7c688d.png

Going into this season we were only expected to fight bravely against relegation, and I would argue we very much overachieved. The 4-2-4 formation we used led to us having the most lethal attack in the league, but also the second worst defense. I'm pretty satisfied with what we able to accomplish, and I hope that our incoming reinforcements can help us improve our defense next season.

    Intake

    KriensIntake.thumb.png.8422edcd86e64b206cba117c7082d2a5.png

Not bad for our first intake. A couple of the new boys have some decent potential, but the rest are probably just youth team filler. I'm not super impressed with the amount of negative personalities we have, but we will work on improving them.

    End of Season Review

    KriensUPgrade.png.41b84b6788a57dc53ea196408a794524.png

After the conclusion of the season I managed to convince the board to upgrade the youth recruitment from Average to Above Average. I want to get this upgrade as much as possible, as we have top division team FC Luzern, only 5 minutes away from our stadium, to compete with locally. Going into next season, our expectation is only to avoid relegation, so we can afford a little bit of breathing room. Some of our players have decided that they would like to leave at the end of their contract, so ideally we are able to replace them soon.

  3. Eskilstuna City FK Season 2 (2024)

    spacer.png

    Squad

    Squad.png.f2c15d66d08f58e6941f6931e42e6b14.png

The first team squad is mostly the same as last year. We had a few departures, but no important players.

    League Table

    Table.png.a5da1e8c875aa3d4ade7cae5d402ba74.png

We had a pretty solid first year in the 3rd division. We got off to a hot start, even being as high 1st in the table by match week 12. We then followed that up with a cold streak, dropping as low as 9th. Overall the league was pretty closely fought, with only 6 points separating 1st from 8th for most of the season. If you were to chart our rising and dropping in the table, it would look like a mountain range. I'm pretty happy with 6th, and with our intake coming up hopefully we can continue to build upon this.

    Youth Intake

    Intake.thumb.png.ab96efb19e09bad77e81a5099c7d4534.png

We got some more squad depth with this intake. I was hoping for a little more talent to complement the real players in the team, but I'm not too upset with this. I have asked multiple times, but the board refuses to allow expanding our recruitment beyond Eskilstuna. Thanks to our good form earlier in the season, they did however agree to increase the level of our junior coaching, so hopefully that starts paying off soon.

This season was our first in the Promotion League, the 3rd tier, and I'd say it went pretty well. I genuinely don't know what came over the players this year, but they just decided they should play well above expectations. I didn't change anything about the tactic and it was mostly the same squad as last year, so I have no idea where this came from. Highlights of the year include having only 1 loss in our first 11 games and a 6-2 away win over 2nd place Bellinzona. I feel like we couldn't possibly continue this form into next year, but that's what I said at the beginning of this season.

    Swiss Cup

    781572275_SwissCup.png.3e1b40fc8e69cd89f93552737065cfa3.png

Our form in the league couldn't be replicated in the Swiss Cup, as we lost 3-1 in the second round to FC Sursee, a team who got relegated this year. I'd like to give a special shout out to our 1 travelling supporter.

    Intake

    Intake.png.0ce97446e100bd12fe8b00ca05437ce8.png

A pretty decent intake this year. Decent potential on a few players, and some could even challenge for backup spots in the first team. We are still in desperate need of center-backs though.

    Off The Field

We had no changes to our facilities this year, good or bad. I got my National C License in the middle of the season, but the board has so far not agreed to pay for the next course. Now that we'll be in the second division, I think the goal is to spend at least a few years there and repair the finances before we're really able to tackle improving our facilities.

  5. FC Red Star Zürich - Season 1 (2023/24)

    spacer.png

I've decided to give this challenge another go, and I once again find myself in Switzerland. This time I'm in charge of FC Red Star Zürich and we start in the Swiss First League Group 3, the 4th tier of Swiss football.

    Facilities

    facilities.png.e60f8f793bd40d07d9486535a9037078.png

I was surprised to see us have such good facilities for this level, with the Excellent academy coaching standing out. Hopefully this will provide us some good quality players.

    League Table

    1786057987_FinalTable.png.40dfdf100d4897222346f419d6fc65a9.png

I opted to play most of this season with a defensively solid formation and it seems like it was the right decision. We spent most of the season in 2nd or 3rd trying to catch up to Eschen/Mauren, but in the end they proved to be the far superior team. Since we won't have to deal with them next year, Ideally we'll be able to take our form from this season and carry on to the next one.

    Intake Preview

    1352717416_intakepreview.png.e57c609f32c70472705b5bbe4b61dd0a.png

We play with a 4-1-4-1 formation so it looks like we'll be getting reinforcements in spots we need. A DM would be nice, but I'm not going to be picky.

    Intake

    Intake.thumb.png.6b571ecc6b2f28e4c6ec46b24663d584.png

I like what I see here. We get a few players who are able to play right now, and some players with decent potential. Yannick Vitija is good enough to challenge for a starting role.

Antonio Romeo - Simone Angliker - Yannick Vitija - Vullnet Zubaku

    Improvements

    1114245871_NewPartnership.png.c9883327a2d398ae47dac3c638725ba5.png

So the board decided to form a new affiliation with FC Rapperswil-Jona in the off-season. I didn't ask for them to do this, but I'm not complaining either. We won't be able to take advantage of loaning some of their players, but on the other hand we get an extra $23,000 a year. The board also didn't agree with me that we need to improve some of our facilities, but they're good enough for now I suppose.

    Intake Map

We got 9 countries through our Intake this year

    Countries: 9/227 (3.96%)

  6. My time in Switzerland has come to an end as the board decided they were tired of barely finishing above the relegation zone and sacked me. I had high hopes for that save, but oh well, time to go again.

VFR Wormatia Worms Season 1 (2022/23)

    spacer.png

My second go at it brings me to  Southwest Germany and to VFR Wormatia Worms. Founded in 1908, the club has only been as high as the 2. Bundesliga, most recently in 1981. We start in the German Regional Division Southwest, the fourth tier of German football.

    Starting Squad

    1885713869_StartingSquad.png.99598ca63edc7c80efac7faab20b8f2a.png

Not a bad starting squad, albeit a bit thin in some areas. A few of our players are apparently good enough for the 3rd division, so we we'll have to lean on them. I fell this is a good point to build from and I think we can have a pretty decent season.

    Final League Table

    1972288069_FinalTable.png.4cd6558694fdc589149a5d6dee314fb4.png

This was an incredible year for us. Originally predicted to finish 13th, 5th is way higher than I thought was possible. We found ourselves playing a positive, attacking tactic and scored goals for fun at some points. However Elversberg were far superior to any other team in the division. With them promoted and only a 5 point difference between 2-5, I think we can really challenge for the title next year.

    Intake Preview

For our first intake I'd say this is pretty good. A pretty good distribution of positions is nice.

    Youth Intake

    Intake.png.06fa52353286ef04544f7600a8e29d62.png

I wasn't expecting to get players who could immediately compete for starting spots, but this isn't a bad first intake. Some decent potential players and good personalities are nice to see. A good distribution of nations is always welcome too. Not all players from this intake were signed.

Hüseyin YılmazJake Walton - Manuel AlmsickPauli Kivimäki

We added 8 countries in this years' intake.

    Countries: 8/227 (3.52%) - Intake Map

    Conclusion

I feel this was a very good start to my save with Die Bachbutzer. Unfortunately I wasn't able to convince the board of any upgrades. We started the season at almost $1m in the bank, but now find ourselves almost $400k in the red. Therefore getting promoted as fast as we can is important, and I feel we have a real good shot at it next season.

  7. FC Bern Season 1 (2024/25)

    spacer.png

My first attempt at this challenge this year brings me back to Switzerland and to the capital city Bern. Founded in 1894, 4 years before fellow Bern club and rival BSC Young Boys, FC Bern was one of the more prominent Swiss clubs of the early 20th century. The clubs greatest accomplishment is winning the Och Cup, a predecessor to the Swiss Cup, in 1921. The club were also champions of Switzerland in 1923, but were ultimately denied their title due to an unregistered player. It's going to take a while but one day we'll be back at the top of Switzerland. We start our save in the Swiss Second League Interregio Group 3, the 5th tier.

    Starting Squad

    1115251329_StartingSquad.thumb.jpg.3a85325ddc77390328b0cc1588d91572.jpg

We're thin pretty much everywhere and only have 2 players to come off the bench, so this season is definitely going to be a challenge. All of our best players are defenders, so it looks like defensive football is the way to go.

    Intake Preview

    Preview.jpg.f75abe293087ed9d16732a02f245c827.jpg

Not exactly super promising but right now we'll take anybody. We're getting some wingers which is nice, but we could really use a striker.

    Youth Intake

    Intake.thumb.jpg.57733b67971464e145b1e484c2951835.jpg

Not bad, but not great. There are some pretty decent personalities in here though, which I like. I signed everyone which gives us more players, as well as a little more flexibility with tactics. Bekim Oehen is the only one who will immediately go in to the starting lineup.

    Bekim Oehen - Jean-Pierre Zaugg - Johan Schwab - Marc-Henri Brauchli

    Countries: 6/227 (2.64%)

    Final League Table

    50920585_FinalTable.thumb.jpg.0eef2c078c1973f72117dfe5dab4b8ad.jpg

As I predicted this year was of a bit a challenge. We were forced to play defensively for most of the year which meant we struggled at times to score goals. The board also threatened to sack me at one point, but I convinced them to give me another month, just in time for our intake. With a new batch of players we were able to switch it up a little bit and start attacking some, which allowed us to gain enough points to ensure survival and keep my job.

    Conclusion

With a larger group of players we have a better base with which to tackle next season. My goal is to continue developing the players we have and gain promotion within the next 2 seasons. My attempts to convince the owner to upgrade anything this year were all unsuccessful, but I believe he can be swayed with positive results.

Having lost our best player in the off-season I really expected this season to be one in which we just try to compete, while continuing to build for the future. What I didn't expect to happen was for us to win a decent amount of games. Don't let the league finish fool you though, I struggled to find a tactic that I liked and thought worked. I must've tried 4 or 5 different tactics across these games, but we somehow kept getting results. A decent league finish leaves us in a good place for the promotion playoffs. I decided to go with a attacking tactic to try and get across the finish line for promotion. But would it work?

    Promotion Playoffs

    1349084113_PromotionPlayoff.thumb.png.6cea1b8f82b5f95319b0714ed61ad390.png

Mission accomplished. Going with a more attacking tactic definitely gave us a bit of a push that we needed to go on and get promoted. However in dramatic fashion it took until the very last game of the season and a little bit of luck to overcome the team in 2nd. We still don't have a true striker, and no player has a finishing attribute above 7, so the fact that an attacking mentality was so successful for us was pretty shocking. I'm very happy with these results and can't wait to see what the next season brings us.

    Youth Intake Preview

Yet another golden generation to be excited about, but at this level it doesn't mean a whole lot.

    Youth Intake

    Intake.thumb.png.f869a52eb7c621e28b3556b3ec353f9e.png

A defensive midfielder that can already serve as a backup is the best of the bunch. Not a lot of great personalities this year, but we finally got in some new nationalities. After promotion I managed to convince the owner to upgrade our youth coaching, so hopefully we get in some higher ability players going forward.

    Progress

    Progress.thumb.png.05c8e0beb8a84fdc41039b1be7b4d8ab.png

We managed to get promoted this year so it was a definite success. We also managed to improve our youth recruitment and our junior coaching. Attendance also nearly doubled this year so that was nice to see. I'm both excited about the next season and a bit nervous. But I believe we have what it takes to stay up.

A much better time this year, with us managing to crack into the promotion playoffs this time around. We actually looked capable of attacking and our defense was solid. For a while we were in contention for the top spot, but I knew it wouldn't last. I was just hoping to go in to the playoffs with as many points as possible.

    Promotion Playoffs

    1011819400_PromotionPlayoffs.thumb.png.069f74f4d5585cc3f9ca5945b600957b.png

We went on an absolutely incredible run in the playoffs, picking up 6 wins and 1 draw in the 7 games. I really couldn't believe what I was seeing, it seemed to come out of nowhere. And yet we still finished just short of promotion, with the only game we drew being against the team that finished one spot above us. If that doesn't sum up my luck with Football Manager than I don't know what does. At least with have the whole team back next year to make another run at it right?

    Transfers945283844_ZarogiannisLeaving.png.b972cafed9be6736fd90d26f0604d0fd.png

Our hands down best player decided that he didn't want to renew his contract with us and would be moving on. We had an actual money transfer arranged with another club, but for who knows what reason he turned it down. I guess he decided he'd rather we get nothing for him. So much for being his favorite club I guess.

    Youth Intake Preview

I love seeing a potential golden generation so I'm excited to see who comes in.

I received news in the offseason that the club was being taken over by a Brazilian investor. So the season started on a very positive note. We finish this stage of the season with the exact same record we did the previous year. We were much better defensively, but also scored less goals. We actually found ourselves just outside the top 4 most of the season, but we we're unable to keep pace with them. Overall a good base to start from in the relegation playoffs.

We found a little bit of form and managed to stay safe this season. This year's group was much stronger than the previous one, but I'm hoping we'll be able to avoid this stage altogether next year.

    Youth Intake Preview

I'm excited for this years batch of new players. I could use some more wingers, but we're still in dire need of a striker.

    Youth Intake

We find ourselves in the 4th tier again next season, but we made plenty of improvements. I managed to convince our new owner to upgrade the youth recruitment and the training facilities. I'm excited about what positive changes these will bring about. I was also pleasantly surprised at how well last year's top prospect, Thomas Zarogiannis, has improved in only a year. I've had a couple top division teams showing interest in him, so we may have someone special here.

  11. Alexandroupoli FC Season 1 (2022/23)

After some time with FC Locarno in Switzerland I've decided to move on. My newest venture takes me to Alexandroupoli FC in Greece. Located in the Eastern part of Greece, just across the border from Turkey, we start the save in the Greek Football League South, the 4th tier of Greece.

We started this save with only 12 players available to choose from, so I knew this season would be a difficult one. The league structure is interesting, with only the champion gaining promotion immediately. Positions 2-4 go into the promotion playoff and 5-10 go into relegation playoffs. Luckily we're allowed to carry over our point totals, and the Football League North has some pretty bad teams, so I'm confident we'll be able to avoid relegation.

Sure enough we were able to avoid relegation. Finishing 8th here looks bad, but we were 11 points clear of relegation. We did get our intake during the playoffs but we weren't allowed to register any of them. Hopefully we finish better next year.

    Youth Intake Preview

Some promising signs, and I'm not complaining about getting new players in.

Really only one player that can make an immediate impact on the first team, but lots of potential and some decent personalities. All players were signed, simply for depth. Would've loved to have gotten a decent striker, that's the position we most desperately need.

    Progress

For our first season, with only 1 player available off the bench, it wasn't bad. Now that we've got more players available to us I hope the next season goes well.

We only added Greece and Albania in this years intake
