Hey everyone, first time posting here so please be gentle. I haven't played the Football Manager series in a long long time, was a die hard back in the CM days but over the years I just didn't have the time to commit. I purchased FM21 and boy, this is very in-depth.
I am feeling very lost and I'm not sure where to start when it comes to tactics. I have looked at the default tactics and whilst they are good, I do struggle at times understanding about how to play different against top and even bottom teams. Before I was just used to creating a standard 442 and letting the game play out.
I read an article on the main website about setting up 442 but having different players in different positions act differently. But what confuses me is that if I have say for example: a wing back on attack. 1 wingback is attack minding and 1 is defensive.. does that not put my shape out of balance?
I feel a little overwhelmed but I am persistent and I want to get this right. I do struggle with tactics and even reading an opposition report, I don't quite understand how to use the report to my advantage.
Do the articles on the forum for older editions apply to FM21? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this also.
