Any of those would be quite an improvement on the current one.  The CPU's are quite a lot better.

https://www.box.co.uk/FA506II-HN138T-ASUS-TUF-Gaming-A15-FA506II-HN138T_2963827.html would be the best one of the three - best CPU and a dedicated graphics card so it is the strongest option.  A dedicated graphics card isn't going to be essential though if FM is the only game you're playing.

The Acer at Currys and the other ASUS one are both basically the same spec, but £50 difference in price.  Both seem to have good reviews, so my take would be to go with the one that's cheaper!

It's very difficult to quantify exactly how much the performance will increase with these compared to the original one with the Ryzen 5 4500U.  Any of them will do the job you've said you want it to do - just these will do it a little better.

If you can genuinely afford the extra, then I'd say go for the ASUS at £700 once it's in stock, because it does have the best specs of the lot.  But, if it is a stretch, then the others will also do a good job.

THank you very much, i really appreciate you looking into it

No idea, because that doesn't tell me what the specs of your machine are, and the Lenovo site suggests that the model number in question had a range of different configurations.

To share this, type "dxdiag" in the Windows search bar, and click the "run command" which comes up.

You should get a window come up which looks like this:

Click the "save all information" button and upload the .txt file that it saves from that.

I've attached the document for you if that helps. Also, i'm thinking about possibly expanding my budget and pushing up towards £700 and i have found the following :

Any suggestions with these or others at a similar price? Are they worth the extra £150/£200 in comparison to the previous two?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions

There's this one as well, which is the same CPU but slightly smaller (14" screen) and less storage for £50 less - but if you want the larger screen or storage £550 is a good price for that.  Very good processor.

Thanks for the suggestion, i'll take a look into it.

Just to query, my current laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 320S, in terms of improvements for FM running with either of these two, would you know how much of a step-up it would be?

  4. Hi, i've been looking at the following laptop:

    https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-5-a515-44-15-6-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-512-gb-ssd-black-10208163-pdt.html

I mainly use my laptops purely for FM and then other general laptop uses but nothing anywhere near as intense as FM (SkyGo/BTSport on the odd occasion).

Currently out of stock in my area but i've advised to re-check the site on the 15th for an update in stock.

Any advice with this or anything similar? In terms of price range i could probably go up to £650 at a max.

Thanks guys, first time i've ever seen this post and i've always been looking for something similar when i look for new laptops. Seems really helpful :applause:
