    There's actually no compulsion to ever activate Windows 10. I think Microsoft are happy to just have people on their platform. The only benefit really to buying a key is that you can customise wallpaper etc and it gets rid of the watermark in the bottom right. You can download the installation from Microsoft's website right onto a USB stick and use that to install on the laptop. Alternatively I believe you can play FM on Linux (which is completely free) these days if you feel adventurous.

    Issue is no operating system but I think you can buy these off eBay for like £10
