  1. Doing a Brighton save at the moment. Been playing on this for some time, so not using the winter update.

After having some trouble finding the right formation, I settled on a 3-4-1-2 with to DM's and to defensive wingers at the end of season one. This has worked wonders and I managed to secure a fourth place in second season. At the moment I am battling at the top of both Premier League and the new Champions League structure.

    Some of my best transfers:
    Andreas Schjelderup (Summer 2022)
    Illia Zabarnyi (Summer 2022)
    Thomas Ouwejan (Summer 2022)
    Marcos Leonardo (January 2023)
Altay Bayindir (Summer 2023 on a free transfer)

I have now bought both Vitor Roque and Endrick. They are loaned back to their clubs, so they will join me at the summer of 2025.

Here is my team and tactic. Ben White is loaned at Arsenal, but I have already agreed a deal after the season.

  2. Had quite a summer transfer window in 2023.

    In:
    Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio) - £67.5m
    Diogo Costa (Porto) - £44m
    Kim Min-Jae (Napoli) - £40m
    Fabio Miretti (Juventus) - £26.5m
    Tino Livramento (Southampton) - £18m
    Sivert Mannsverk (Molde) - £5.5m
Kyle Walker (Man City) - loan with obligation to buy
    Martin Dubravka (Newcastle) - loan

    Out:
    Edouard Mendy (Inter) - £38.5m
    Malang Sarr (Shakhtar) - £7m
    Ethan Ampadu (Tenerife) - £5m
    Thiago Silva - Free
    Jorginho - Free
    Kepa Arrizabalaga (Rennes) - Loan
    Christian Pulisic (Fulham) - Loan
    Tiémoué Bakayoko (Valencia) - Loan
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Besiktas) - Loan
    Armando Broja (Everton) - Loan

Have been playing some matches with a 4-2-3-1 with very good results so far.

    GK: Costa, Dubravka, Slonina
    RB: James, Walker, Livramento
    CB: Fofana, Chalobah
    CB: Kim, Koulibaly, Colwill
    LB: Chilwell, Cucurella
    CM: Kanté, Gallagher, Mannsverk
    CM: Milinkovic-Savic, Kovacic, Miretti
    RW: Mount, Ziyech
    AM: Havertz
    LW: Sterling, Hudson-Odoi
    SS: Lukaku, Casadei

  3. Finished first season and what a challenge that is. I don't think the squad is strong at all.

Started without any transfer budget, as I like it like that. Promoted Casadei (and trained him as a striker), Chukwuemeka and Hutchinson to the first team squad, while I fired old coaches and hired new ones. DAMN the old ones were bad...

Tried to play a 5-2-2-1 formation with the offensive wingbacks making the width. Kanté started out with a five month injury so Gallagher got a lot of playing time next to Kovacic and did OK. Havertz was great as AM or striker. Mount was also performing well. Unfortunately James did not produce as expected as wingback, and I might consider playing him as outside CB next season. His dribbling is to weak when being alone on the side, and he also not really quick.

Premier League: Fouth - won the last game 4-3 against Liverpool who already was crowned champions and rested some players. Damn lucky, because both Arsenal and Newcastle could have taken my spot.
    FA Cup: Quaterfinal
Champions League: Group stage - So disappointing.. Reached the quater finals in Europa League afterwards.
    Carabao Cup: Quaterfinal

Sold Loftus-Cheek in january for £30m to Man City. Jorginho and Thiago Silva have signed contracts with other clubs and will leave. Will try to offload Aubameyang (almost did not play) and a lot of the loan players returning.

Got Camavinga on loan in january and he was good. Will try to get him on a permanent, but I am also dreaming of Bellingham. Will also need to sign at least one new CB and an AM/striker.

  4. What a season!!

    Premier League
Ended the season as number four with 75 points. I managed to beat Liverpool both home and away – and also winning at Etihad.

    FA Cup
Won the final against Manchester City. Was down 0-3 after 30 minutes, but managed to get back and won on penalties. Crazy performance and a deserved win.

    Carabao Cup
Lost my first game against Huddersfield. My tactic was still not working so well at this time.

    Player performances
Patrick Bamford was amazing scoring 29 goals and making seven assists.
Raphinha was fantastic as well. Goals and assists, but also a great pressing player.
Daniel James started the season as backup to Jack Harrison, but he took the place as left winger and did very good.

    Transfers
Started without transferbudget. Sold Rodrigo in January, when Newcastle showed interest. They paid £40m for a 30 year old player, who was playing great though.
Charlie Cresswell and Tyler Roberts was sold in January as well. Generated almost £10m.
Bought Bremer (£25m) and Sebastian Szymanski (£27m) in January, and they both did very well.

And the team instructions? What kind of movements and link up play did you see that looked good?

From the top of my head: Balanced team mentality, shorter passing, wide width, play out from defence, higher loe, higher defensive line, press more, low crosses.

My wingbacks are often the players furthest forward in the build up. They are making crosses from deep and cutbacks when they enter the penalty area.

Also scored a few goals when Lukaku dropped deep, and either one of my OM’s found the spare behind the opponents defensive line.

Just bought Bastoni to play the LCB. Will switch Rüdiger to RCB now.

    RCB - Wide defender (s)
CB - Ball playing defender (d)
    LCB - Wide defender (s)
    RWB - Wingback (a)
    RCM - Box to box

    LWB - Wingback (a)
    ROM - Shadow striker (a)
    LOM - Offensive midfielder (a)

  7. Just played the 2021/22 season to an end with Chelsea, and what a season it turned out to be.

Actually, started quite good, but after a period with three losses in a row I changed my tactics. It was just a little change with my two wingers going to be OM’s instead. But that really helped. I did not loose one single match from mid October and until the beginning of April.

Ended up winning the Carabao Cup and the Premier League. Losing to Arsenal in the semifinal of the FA Cup and against PSG in the Champions League semifinal.

Disabled transfers in the first window, and I only sent Marlang Sarr on loan to Rapid Wien in January. But I did not manage to get Andreas Christensen or Cesar Azpilicueta to sign new contracts, and the loss of AC really hurts.

Luckily Trevoh Chalobah has played much better than his stats says, but I have to go on the market for two new defenders this summer, as I play the same system Tuchel uses in the real world.

I would like to praise the following players for their season:

Reece James – Played 52(3) games and managed three goals and 14 assists. Was even deployed as a RCB a few times.

Antonio Rüdiger – My best player statistic wise. So, so good as my left CB as wide centerback. That physical presence was great.

Marcos Alonso – Did very well as a WB, sharing the game time with Chilwell, but outperforming the Englishman. 16 assists and not just crosses from wide areas.

Christian Pulisic – Was never a regular starter, but he performed so well as both OM and as a WB at times. 11 goals and nine assists in 25(19) games is good.

Kai Havertz – Played primarily as a shadow striker and was very dominant until he was ruled out with a injury. Never found form again afterwards.

  8. Leeds survived the first season back in the Premier League - and now the difficult second season awaits.

It was a quiet summer for Bielsa, who got Junior Firpo and Dan James. Borg great players though.

Leeds posseses a great squad with some quality players like Kalvin Phillips, Diego Llorente and Raphinha. Add to that some great youth suspects.

How are you getting on with Leeds this year?

  9. Welcome to the Chelsea FM22 thread

Data lock is almost upon us for the full release of the game as well. I would implore people who have considered views on data to get involved and see if you can make a compelling argument for why something should be different.

    Hi,

I really think you should take a look at Andreas Christensens attributes. He has been one of the worlds best defenders in 2021. His strenght is 8, which should be much higher, given he has evolved physically.

  11. Doing a Atalanta save right now with great succes using this formation.

  12. Just started my final game with Chelsea.

Immediately Reece James picks up a broken leg.. but I have signed Danilo d’Ambrosio on a loan deal until January to cover for him.

My aim is to play a narrow 4-1-3-2 with wingbacks. That’s why Hudson-Odoi was loaned out to Hertha Berlin. Think Pulisic could be getting some games as striker - he has quite decent finishing attributes.

Congrats, did you find season 1 had really low points totals? I was top for most of the season, won 3 out of 4 in the champ group but bottled it and finished 2nd behind FCK 😭 they won the league with only 60 points, which seem very low for me but irl, the points seem low as well tbf.

Have only played some league games so far. But it does not seem that way in my game.

  14. FC Midtjylland is probably best known as a feeder club to Brentford, but the club has performed quite well in recent years with three Danish titles in six years. Also qualified to Champions League this season.

Youth facilities are great and the club usually produces great talents.

The economy is quite good now, and FC Midtjylland will be able to attract some good players to the Danish Superliga.

I will be starting a game with the team now - let me hear from others.
