I have also had this issue, first season as Austin FC manager..Uploaded the save file:

Game doesn't progress into the match when you submit the team. May have something to do with number of players maybe as, as far as I'm aware the manager picks 5 players and the public pick 18 and I never picked anybody. Either that or it's maybe not registering us as manager for the team.
I found you can holiday the game by 1 day, skip the match and the save carries on as normal.
