As long as your hard drive isn't the faulty component it would be pretty easy to get your up-to-date save back. Taking the hard-drive out is usually a pretty simple task, and enclosures (so you can use it like a regular external hard drive) are pretty cheap from Amazon and the likes. Just a thought as it is something I have had to do in the past, wiring or battery problems always seem to kill my laptops before the hard drives fail.
