  1. Hi everyone

In my save in FM23, i got my childhood club Besiktas and i got a decent career too. I won uefa europa league in season 2, which is very shocking but transfers came up too good (and thanks to my luck with draws). In season 4 and 5, i got plenty wonderkid in my team lead by Arda Guler from Real Madrid right now, and they play extremely good at this point. I won 2 champions league with them in my 4th and 5th season thanks to new champions league format and my draw luck also (i didnt draw any big team till final, final vs liverpool), but my players want to go another team at big leagues, i have to keep them because there is still no money in the club, biggest transfer budget i got in this point is 85 million which is quite good but after 2 cl win, i got 45 mil transfer budget. How can i got through that? I dont want to sell my star players because if i do, i cant replace them with the money i got because there is %65 come from transfer fees.

I want your help to solve this problem, or the club will bankrupt with the money i give my star players if problem go like this.

  2. I started a save with Besiktas in FM22 but with squad patch. I finished first season with 2 cup (league and domestic cup). My star player was Wout Weghorst with 57 goals in 40 games. He has 11.75 m optional buy clause in his loan contract. The team's economy is very bad and has too much debt. I got 17 m transfer budget with some good players sold but i am confused right now because i want to sign Weghorst but if i do, i can't sign any other player with remaining money. I got 2 questions:

1- How can i get my team's economy better? (they debt 240m euros)

2- Should i buy Weghorst or i should look for some change in squad and look for another striker with less money?

Any other suggestions will be great also.

  3. I am 6 year old FM player and till this year, i never get bored this game. But this year i wanted to make a long term save and i couldn't find the team i was looking for. I try the FM club finder and save generators but no luck. I want to make a save with my lifetime team Besiktas but i cant be neutral to players because of real life. I need your help if you can encourage me for my lifetime save and give me some ideas, or other ideas for different saves.

    Thanks.

I'm doing quite a similar save / challenge with Hibs of Scotland. Without giving too much away, Scotland and Norway's starting situations are very similar, although Norway start with a lower coefficient. (That's not a spoiler). That means it might take longer to be consistently reaching the CL group stage and have top facilities.

You'd think I'd be able to give you a lot of advice, but really, it's complicated.

First of all, it is possible, depending on how good your tactics are. 13 or so seasons in, I've won the Europa League and reached the semis of the Champions League. However, I've done this with much weaker players than other teams. It is possible that there's always going to be a very low chance of my beating the top 3 or 4 teams. I might never actually win the Champions League.

So the question is, to what extent can you improve Norwegian players, and how long does it take?

There are a few assumptions I've made at various points that I'm not sure are true.

Each nation has a Dynamic Youth Rating. We can improve it, but not by much.

You can improve Valerenga's facilities, but it will obviously be helpful to improve all the Norwegian sides' facilities. I have almost all the best Scottish players at Hibs after 14 seasons, but only a few of them came through our academy. Maybe that doesn't matter. You should still be able to improve your rep and facilities enough to attract the best Norwegian players.

I could waffle on for ages, but basically my opinion is that after 12 or so seasons you should be able to improve your club (and Norway as a whole) as much as it's possible in the game. There really is only so much you can do on this front. Scotland are in the top 10 nations in the world and 5th in the Euro competitions coefficients, and I'm not sure any of this has really made a huge amount of difference.

The most important thing is to keep your most promising players at the club, because in my save, so many promising players have been signed by big clubs where they've just stagnated. You only have so many good players. I have a good first eleven because there's about 15 Scottish players good enough to enable us to challenge for the Champions League, and I have all but 2 of them. I have terrible depth, although obviously that creates opportunities to develop promising players.

Really putting it in a nutshell. There's only so much you can do.

One last thing. The personalities of boards can come into play. If your club's board aren't ambitious, you'll be battling the wind, until someone takes over, which could take a very long time.

It's good to hear that someone like me accomplish something in their career. Great advices, thanks a lot :)

Yes, it will take a long time to achieve. Scandinavia, however, has an advantage in height, strength, and jumping reach over other regions. You can play to this strength in a couple ways. Jumping reach and heading is paramount in set pieces. Gather yourself a group of 6'9" mutants, toss them in the penalty box with some 6'0" guys, and that ball is going in. Otherwise, get a good target man and some big forward wingers (or wide target forwards) with good heading. They'll out-head the competition fullbacks to the point of humiliation, and get the ball to the forward on the regular. Strength is a very important stat, and you can easily get a Scandinavian front line to just bully the back lines of most teams.

I've never look the situtation this way, a new advice for myself and interesting one also. Thanks :)

With only Scandinavians it's definitely going to be quite a tedious save. You'll basically have to hover up almost all the talent that the region will produce to make a team with a solid shot at doing well in the CL.

Keep a close eye on the various Scandinavian national youth and senior teams, take a note who has the best facilities and is most likely to produce quality youngsters and keep an eye on what comes through their youth intakes. Try to get your board to get you youth player related visions so they're more likely to improve own youth set up.

Other than that, all I can say is to have lots and lots of patience.

Need golden generation for this save, will they come eventually?

It will be really, really hard to do, and most likely take quite a few seasons to achieve. It's not much more to say than win the league and do well in Europe for several seasons, then the Norwegian coefficient will increase and more Norwegian teams will enter Europe. If they also do well, Norway's league standing will increase and you will be able to attract better players and gain more money from attendances and such. Eventually, you might be able to compete with the best teams, but I'd say it's unlikely in less than 20-30 seasons at best.

It's important that Norway league standing go up, because the best player in Norway, probably not that good for  Champions League teams in start of the save.

  8. I'm not sure this is the right place the open this question. But this makes sense and here we go. I picked Valerenga from Norway 3 months ago and i almost finish second season in this club. I want to win Champions League or Europa League with only Scandinavian player but it seems its gonna be a very long career to achieve this. If there any fm'ers give me any suggestion to how to do it, i want to hear it.

    Good games to everyone.
