  1. I am using my striker as a Trequartista since I want him not to close down at all. My system however, is highly aggressive and I use the close down much more TI.

When I look at his PI page, it says the he is closing down much less, but the close down meter is all the way to about 70%.

Can anyone please explain the mechanics of these kind of meters, and the connection between the text and the meter level?

    Thanks!

  2. I am trying to build a tactic for a lower league team, consisting of only youth player, using an highly structured team shape with a high workrate, high teamwork players.

I am going over the System fluidity page in the manual, and it's a little confusing to me.

That's from section 4. Summary of player roles:

    Quote

tactical roles that include a greater number of attacking and defensive role types that enable a player to perform a positional responsibility to a greater extent are considered to be specialist player roles, while tactical roles that include a lesser number of attacking and defensive role types that enable a player to perform a positional responsibility to a greater extent are considered to be generalist player roles.

I don't understand that explanation. Also, there is a list of specialized roles with a number before each of them, what does that number represent?

How come an ap/a is specialized and ap/s isn't, or wb/s isn't and wb/a is.

A poacher isn't specialized and a complete forward is?

Can someone please clear this out for me, because I can't make sense of it all.

OI operate independently of your tactical settings, and they are player specific.

    Thank you.

I should have made it clear that I am using the overall/positional instructions, not the in-match ones. But I'm guessing it works the same way.

So just to make it clear - when I set a complete OI scheme (general), there's not need basically to use other defensive instructions ( closing down / marking / tackling,  that is ).

    Is that correct?

  4. I would like to create a defensive scheme, independent of tactics, that closely marks all opposition players in the center, starting from the DMs , and never closes them down. Also, I'd like the opposite to occur when defending against flank players - never mark and always close down.

I'm not sure what are the relations between the opposition instructions and other instructions.

for example - will "close down more" as a team instruction or player instruction change the way that the opposition instruction - close down "always" or "easy" works?

    This also goes to marking.

So in Structured systems, Defenders, as you mention above, become more focused (more responsible if you like) on defending whereas attackers become more focused (more responsible) on attacking.

So this is nothing more (not that its not important) than a change in their risk factor in relation to their position. The responsibilty issue confused me, since it hints that a wb/a won't be involved in attacks while on highly-structured.

    Thanks for explaining.

I'm not 100% sure what precisely you are asking here.  When Team Shape becomes more fluid, players become more likely to deviate away from your tactical instructions (they have greater creative freedom) and transitions become more pronounced.  Does that answer your question?

Thanks, I was referring to the term "responsibilty" as it's described in the specific team shape guides. For example: "Structured" - "Central defenders are responsible only for the defensive phase. The full backs and more defensive midfielders are reponsible for both defensive and transion phase...". What does it mean in terms of their behaviour on different duties?
