I'm playing the xbox edition of football manager 2022 on my PC and am currently in the March of my first season (playing in English League 2). I'm looking at building my squad for next season and have identified a number of transfer targets whose current contracts expire at the end of the season. Unfortunately there does not appear to be an 'Approach to Sign' option for any of these players. If I go to the Contract Offer screen it says I must have a transfer offer accepted before I can enter into negotiations. If I go to the transfer offer page the team often demands a fee even if the transfer is for the end of the season and the player is 25+.
Am I missing something obvious as to where this option is?
