There are a few threads covering essentially the same issues and SI have barely responded to any of them.

Since it's been brought up I can’t not notice it when playing the game now and it's doing my head in. If you’re away from home and the opposition team is playing 3 in the back you can just wave goodbye to high pressing and possession football because it just seems impossible. I have a theory that even on a neutral ground, such as a cup game if it shows you as the “away” team you seem to have a disadvantage.

I already know that if I play the second leg away, it's game over (90% of the occasions, to not say 100%). Yesterday, won 4-0 against PSG to lose 5-0 away. I was not expected to win 4-0 at home but knew my fate a soon as I saw the 4-0.

  2. I have now learned how this impacts the management of the team.

IMO you if your main player for a position has a “starting” agreed playing time (Regular Started and above), you ought to have the backup player a “squad player” at a maximum - and squad player might still moan about it (not much).

That is why it is very important to pay attention when renewing contracts/buying players. If you are agreeing to have a player as started just because you want the player but you know that he will be dropped, it will be an issue.

Also remember that you can change the agreed playing time. I do this as soon as I can to help manage the squad.

And now he has been given a free transfer! On the same day. Call that a payout!

Talisca was also transfer listed and has been given a free transfer as well

Both players were still playing - starting the World Club Championship, and Ronaldo was even the best goalscorer and best player.

    And CR7 retired again.

There is a bit lack of context, surely. They just gave them the biggest contract in the world of football. He is due to play in the 2024 Euros.

Pepe (center back from Porto) still playing and not retiring.

I don't know if this is a cheap way to get rid of players in the Saudi Arabia but seems off.

Also, on another save that I just started, CR7 is already transfer listed as "surplus to requirements"

Wouldn't be an issue here as it is a genuine possibility in real life. He won't retire at that date in every save, there will be numerous factors taken into account.

  6. Another example - so the player wants a new contract because the current one does not reflect the player that he has become. The board does not allow me to add more time to the contract. So I just saved some money with this contract renewal. I guess Militao has to find a new agent :D

  7. Adding video of another request to renew contract - same 10 months, but at least managed to save money. This after the player has requested a new contract because the recent contract does not reflect the player that he has become. I guess Militao has to find a new agent :D

Hello, this is not a bug. The Portuguese window ends on 31st August while the Spanish and French window ends on 1st September so this bid and logic from PSG and Real Madrid is valid.

Please review. The Portuguese summer transfer window closed on the 1st September at 23:59:59

    https://www.ojogo.pt/futebol/noticias/mercado-na-reta-final-acompanhe-as-principais-noticias-e-rumores-16942627.html/

"Não perca as principais novidades da janela de transferências de verão, que em Portugal encerra as 23h59 de 1 de setembro"

    Translates to

"Don't miss out on the main deals of the summer transfer window that, in Portugal, closes at 23h59 of the 1st of September".

This ojogo.pt is a major sports newspapers in Portugal.

Bernat, signed with Benfica in the last day of the transfer window - on the 1st of September.

Also here you see Portugal as 1st September https://www.transfermarkt.pt/transfer-statistik/transferfenster/statistik/stat/plus/0?art=s&kontinent_id=6&option=0

    Thank you

  9. I think the game might have an issue in with the last day of the transfer window. I just looked it up, and it closes in the 1st of September, not 31 of August.

That being said, in the Scouting screen, it shows as closed and all the inbox news assume that.

Also, I tried to buy a player on the 1st of September. Transferred listed player, contract offered. The guy took 3 days to accept and accepted on the 4th of September. If this was the last day, the game should have the player to make a quicker decision.

So now that player has a future transfer agreed.

    Thank you

It doesn't even make this much sense lol. The AI doesn't pay attention to squad status/agreed playing time. I've linked to my own thread about AI managers not being able to rotate, constantly looking to retrain positions, and not buying appropriately for positions (and in relation to their tactical preferences either) and some other issues. Hopefully combining these threads can help create an overall picture of what looks like a big problem. 6 seasons into my simmed save, and Real Madrid are playing Alaba as their constant first choice central defender ahead of Josip Sutalo. Alaba is listed as a Fringe Player at 37 years old and has very poor physicals (but a high average of 7.89 match rating in like 11 games, so idk what's going on there). Sutalo hasn't made it to the starting eleven in 9 matches despite being listed as a Regular Starter. Their squad is completely barebones. It's the same with many other clubs, but this is the one I was paying most attention to, to see how the elite teams maintain things as time goes on.

Maybe the playing time does not affect as you mention in your example with Alaba - it was just an assumption.

Whatever priorities the AI Managers have, they might not take future into consideration. Yes eventually they need to buy players because they sell players, or those players retire. But who knows.

Probably one of the bigger issues regarding AI managers at the moment. Most of the development/squad building issues cascade from this issue

This probably even goes up to the playing time agreements. The AI manager probably ranks the player based on the agreed playing time. So an Important/Start player expects to play in all matches no matter what – so the AI automatically picks the player.

This would then escalate in a review of how a player ranks his used time. Having a player that is not 100% match fit skipping easier league matches so that he is 100% for a Champions League match isn't something that an Important/Star player would understand in game. When they moan about playing time, there isn't an option "You are my striker! In a CL final I start you" kind of message.

In an easy Man City save, I managed to have Halland moan about the play time (this was on FM22) just because I was not playing him in easy matches so that I could play other players for evolution.

Unfortunately, I think this is where it gets harder to code around. You would need some sort of priorities ranking linked to the manager vision/club vision where a manager might be more inclined to not pick the best player in favour of a new talent player. This would also need to be linked to the opposition and the importance of the match ahead (you would not want to start Halland in the CL final just because some lesser team managed to get to the final). Also, you wouldn't want to rotate all the team - only one or two players at time.

The more use cases you come up, the worst it gets. And because you want this dynamic, you wouldn't expect the manager to make the same decision every time.

Sorry for the big reply :D
