After our 2nd place last season, decided to improve the team to aim for 1-4th in Premier League. Brought in David MR/AMR/AMC/AML/ST for £70m, Callum Matthews AML/AMR/AMC/ST for £50m , David Ramsden MC/AMC on loan. Media expectation for the team before season start was 2nd place. With transfers brought in, we are 1st in media eyes. Arranged some money making friendlies, season sales jumped up and £88m PL tv money help to boost our bank balance from £348m to £217m when first game begin. Sold Chaelie Patino for £10m and loan sunday.
League Campaign
It was a inconsistent campaign with us being in top 6 places all season. During the first 19 games, we were in 3rd place with 40 points, Man Utd same points as us, Liverpool on 39 points, Arsenal on 38 points, Tottenham on 36 points and bottom 3 Cardiff on 13 points, Brighton on 12 points and Bournemouth 7 points. We secured top 4 finish on 38 games with 80 points fourth in table. After final games, we are 4th with 80 points. Top 4 is made up of champions Man City 88 points, second place Chelsea 84 points, Man Utd 84 points, Nantwich 80 points, same points as Liverpool in 5th with a better gd. In the cups, we was decent with FA Cup Quarter Final loss(2-3) against Burnley. For EFL Cup, we lost to West Brom (1-1) on penalties in Fourth Round. In our fifth europe journey, we were drawn with Inter, Monaco and Slavia Prague in Grp F. Won the first game home to Slavia Prague 2-0. We won 3, drew 1 lost 1 in our next 5 games to finish 2nd in the group with 13 points. Won Real Madrid 5-4 in First Knockout Round. We secured top 4 finish on 37 games with 80 points second in table. After final games, we are 2nd with 83 points. Pre season
After our 9th place last season, decided to improve the team to aim for 7-10th in Premier League. Brought in Marques DC, Roberto DL on loan , Jos Engel MC, Carlos Arce MR/AMR, Roberto Alvartez MC on loan, Zakaria Araba ML/AL on loan, Sean Longstaff MC on loan, Monge GK , Aguilar GK, Artic DR/DC/DL. For the strikers, Rade Radak for £7m, Rojas . Media expectation for the team before season start was 20th place bottom of the league. With transfers brought in, we remain bottom in media eyes. Arranged some money making friendlies, season sales jumped up and £88m PL tv money help to boost our bank balance from £101m to £98m when first game begin. Sold Thomas for £250k, Julardzija for £2m, Ronnie Edwards for £100k, Brad Young free, loan Munoz for £11k with a future transfer arranged.
League Campaign
It was a up and down campaign with us being in 5-13th places all season. During the first 19 games, we were in 7th place with 30 points, Tottenham on 29 points, Chelsea/Brentford on 27 points, Palace/West Ham/Leicester on 25 points, Fulham/Villa on 23 points and bottom 3 Brighton on 20 points, Norwich 14 points and Wolves 11 points. After final games, we are 5th with 65 points. Top 4 is made up of champions Man Utd 87 points, second place Man City 79 points, Arsenal 78 points, Liverpool 75 points. Bottom 3 are Palace 32 points, Bourtnemouth 32 points and Wolves 31 points. Sold John Johnson for £17k, Norris was loaned out. PL1 PL2
Cups
In the cups, we was decent with FA Cup Third Round loss(3-5) against Newcastle. For EFL Cup, we lost to Everton (2-3) in Semi Finals. FA Cup EFL Cup
Finances
Competition prize money came up to £34.18m up from £25.62m, Broadcast revenue £98.47m down from £108m, Corporate and Hospitality £1.67m up from £1.2m Match day Commercial and retail £910k up from £717k. End of season, we are left with £153m. There was tax hit of £13.25m. Bonuses of £2m was paid out after finishing 5th in Premier League. We are under new owners and the board announced upgrade of training facilities which was completed in april. We moved back to our stadium when the expansion was completed in mid march. Next Season
We aim to qualify for europe again, either through league 5-7th place or winning the cups. It will be interesting to see how we fare against teams in europe. It will be the first time in europe for Nantwich.
