    CHAPTER ONE: NEW BEGINNINGS

The wheels of the plane kissed the runway below as Gerald White, the new manager of 1860 München arrived at Munich International Airport. From the window he could only make out the flashing lights from the control tower on what was a foggy and gloomy evening. ''I hope this isn't a sign of things to come'' he muttered under his breath as his thoughts of press conferences, formations and introductions were interrupted by the seatbelt signs flicking off and the rest of the passengers rushing to grab their bags from the compartments above and rushing to the exit.

Gerald was on a commercial aircraft as he was unknown the world of football - or the world itself for that matter. His experience in the game had been flicking inbetween trials at Manchester City and Wigan Athletic before signing a professional contract at Everton. He was a goalkeeper, and one who had been whispered about in the corridors of any training ground he entered as something of the next big thing - ''The next Messi of Goalkeeping'' he had heard, which always confused him a little as the player described and the position he played didn't match. No matter anyway, an ACL injury in a friendly game against Glasgow Rangers had led to off and on injuries which eventually led to his release. Determined to not let disappointment get in the way of a career in the game, White threw himself into a coaching career, shadowing the best in the business and passing his coaching badges with ease, learning German after shadowing both Daniel Farke at Dortmund and Marco Rose at Red Bull. These studies had led to an interview with 1860 München (with both Farke and Rose giving glowing recommendations of the young coach). White had met the club in secret, hence the no need for a private jet or security team to keep him free from the press. White was the epitome of anonymity and that suited him just fine - whether the supporters would take to such a newbie was another question entirely.

In what seemed like the blink of an eye, White had claimed his baggage, entered a taxi and was now walking down the pavement leading up to Grunwalder Stadion, the 15,000 capacity ground that 1860 (among others) called home. It was there that Gerald met Robert Reisinger, the President. Inside the largest boardroom on the top floor, it was explained again (just as it had in interview) that 1860 München were expected officially to reach the playoffs, however unofficially all Reisinger ever talked about was promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. Gerald sensed from the first meeting that simply meeting expectations would not do here, in order to succeed promotion would need to be gained within the first chapter of employment. The cup didn't matter, Robert said as much as he dismissed the conversation whenever raised - the league was all that mattered, and getting out of it was the objective.

I've decided to start a save in one of my favourite countries, Norway. Home to the Midnight Sun, the Northern Lights and tons of snow it's something that I've wanted to do for a while - a bit of a road to glory outside of the usual names in England. I've started with Alta Idrettsforening, as they are the Northernmost team in the country (and roughly in the world) based in the municipality of the same name and home to just shy of 21,000 people. The football team are rather unique in the sense that they have two home grounds, Alta Idrettspark which is an outdoor venue and Finnmarkshallen which is an indoor complex, used when the outdoor pitch is unplayable due to snow and at full capacity, can hold 1,000 Alta supporters.

Currently playing in the 2. divisjon (the third tier of Norway's pyramid) it's my goal to bring the club through the ladder into the 1. divisjon and finally, to the promised land of the Eliteserien. To my knowledge the club have never played in the top flight, so achieving this would be a massive achievement to the team and the local people. From my research, I don't believe that a Norwegian club has progressed further than the group stage in the UEFA Champions League either, so getting into the knockout stages would see me make history on a national level.

I plan to heavily rely on youth, with a focus on signing only Scandinavian players to turn this into a 'rough' home-grown challenge. Hopefully bringing through some fantastic newgens who can perhaps assist Erling Haaland and Martin Odergaard for the national team! For now, we start in the third tier as a semi professional club, with the ambition on gaining promotion in our first campaign and progressing through the ladder.

A name that will be familiar to most who follow the English game, our star man (and who I've appointed captain) is Morten Gamst Pedersen, arguably most famous for playing for Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League. Following stints at Rosenborg and Tromso, he recently signed for Alta IF at the age of 38 turning down offers from throughout Europe to play for his hometown team - his stats for a third tier side is absolutely insane and despite being in his twilight years this is someone who I'm prepared to lean on throughout the season.

Apologies all, we got this one fixed but due to the nature of it it won't show in current saves.

I'm really sorry but the only way to resolve the issue is to start a new save on the latest version.

It happened on my save that I started about a week and a half ago, just confirming that this has definitely been fixed before I start another save? Do you know when the latest bug fix version came out?

  4. I've just deleted my save - fuming. Started a save with Everton (post BETA) and it's done the same. Had a brilliant first season too so was going to be a great save.

Some people are saying that the end of the transfer market fixes it, but by that point I've got a 12 point head start - plus all the league's messed up because teams with poor youth are at the bottom of the table (Leicester were 20th for me).

  5. Not sure which sub-forum is the best, so apologies but I'm just starting season 2 with Everton and nobody in the league has registered any players, so they're all playing with their U21's and below.

I think I've seen it mentioned on Twitch, so might be a known bug but just wanted to make sure it had been reported 😊... Cheers
