[Useful hints on roles and duties in 4-2-3-1]

I think it is difficult to talk about roles in any tactic if we do not know what mentality is used. I do not think that we have one rule for roles and duties.

I'll try to explain how I see that. If I play defensive mentality or caunter I would have more players on attack dutie. Even CM's maybe I would use role like BBM or CM but if I play control or attacking I would use CM's on defend dutie. Also front four would be all on support dutie if I use attacking mentality.

So I do not think it is propriate to talk about roles and duties in any formation if we do not have whole picture of mentality and how we want our team to play.

Also if I use attacking or control mentality I would give defensive players more creative roles, because I believe that they will have ball more often in their feets than in defensive mentality. So for example I fa I go for control mentality I would use BP Defenders

Sir, in your 2.1 part" Phases of play" you are talking about high, middle and low block. So in high block you say that confrontation line is in Attacking third.

My question is about mentality. Will confrontation line be on same place for defensive mentality and for attacking. If You can not understand my question would be does high block depends from push higher or drop deeper or from mentality of your team or those two are connected

In your part 3.8 in this thread you have black and white picture. My question is, it is coincidence or it is have some connection with wunderteam and becouse of that you have used black and white picture?

Thanks for quick answer. I am hoping that I am not asking too much.

I understand that if I use instruction push higher up, I am reducing space for my attackers (My defoult tactic is Control 4411 formation so if I push Hugher up I change attacker from attack duty to Support, I think that you understand, becouse you have explained using that space in your Laddar thread). So what is going on with that space with instruction Close down more. Do I reduce space too for attackers and open more space for for their attackers?

I am sorry if this question is already answered but I could not find this. what is difference betwee PUSH HIGHER UP and Close down more. I am talking about team instruction.

In earlier versions it was only close down more.

I have 3 questions:

1. You said that Ozil is support player, and of course you set him as PLM support. I thought that he is PLM attacking becouse he is such good dribbler, so quick and .... also Giroud is not the fastest player in the world to play advanced forward. So I thought that it is better option to play PLM (a) and DLF (s). Of course that you are right so my question is how and whay you set them as you set.

2. If you set your team as balanced style do you have problems on you right side becouse it is big gap between you full back and winger (a)?

3. Lets say if you set PLM (a) and DLF(s), would you chage other roles in AM strata or MC strata?
