IIRC the inside forward doesn’t move into channels so he’ll be static if he’s just forwards waiting for the ball rather than driving forwards with it.

how have you setup your wide defenders? Try a couple of wingbacks with ‘stay wider’ and if not attacking then ‘get further forward’ selected.

what are the midfield roles and what team instructions have you given? If you’re using play through the middle then take that off.

In midfield with this sort of system you need your two CMs to be quite dynamic like a CM/A with a RPM or something should work well with a deep DM covering. If you’re the favourite you could even get away with a DM on support if there wasn’t much threat to you.

What wide roles make them "move more" in the final third? I guess Raumdeuter but I fear they will completely slack off in build up and defense then. I want them to act like a front 3 strikeforce in attack but 451 when out of possession.

Right now I believe I only have lower tempo and shorter passing, been playing around a bit. Mentality is control.

    Midfield 3 is A(d), Car(s) and AP(s).have wb(a) and wb(s) down the wings.

  2. I am managing a top 3 side in the league, and am trying to get a 4-3-3 to work. Both wing players are essentially strikers playing wide, so their roles are IF(s) and IF(a). In the middle I have a DLF(s). What I want is for these 3 to be the main attacking threat, combining through defenses. This is working during quick transitions, but since I am mainly playing against worse sides they are often met by a sitting defense. Here I want some combination play between them with vertical and horizontal movements to create space, but they seem happy just sitting still in a straight line across the defense. None of them are passable, and none of them are any threat. Instead the two CM's are my main threats with long shots on goal, and even my anchorman has more goals than my front 3.

Does anyone know how increase movement? I have tried to tell them to roam from position and be more creative, but nothing seems to help.

  3. Could someone help me with my tactic? It worked really well for two seasons where my team beat severely stronger teams. This season though it seem to have stopped working without any reason. My goalkeeper doesn't stop anything, my defenders suddenly seem lazy and slow, and my strikers couldn't hit a barn. I create more chances, and lead every statistic except possession.

The formation I use is a 4-1-4-1 with defensive and balanced instructions.

    GK(D)

    WB(S) - CD© - CD© - WB(S)

    DM(D)

    W(S) - CM(A) - BBM - WM(A)

    CF(A)

    Team instructions:

Push Higher Up - I did this to stop my team to fall to deep, and counter the defensive mentality. If the other team gets to much possession I switched it to Much Higher Defensive Line.

    Lower Tempo

    Shorter Passing

    Work Ball Into Box

Only player instructions are Distribute to defenders for the GK and Run into channels for the CF(A).

My goals were usually created by the CM's who roamed around the offensive midfield and connected with the CF(A) who dropped down when needed. The W and WM made runs into the penalty box and received through balls, or hit crosses from the byline to my strike. My goals were usually scored by the CM(A), the CF(A) or the wingers, usually from a through ball to a one-on-one.

Do you guys see anything completely wrong? Because I can't see what I do wrong. All I see is defenders making stupid mistakes and attackers missing sitters.

  4. I want help with two things:

    1. I want a more sensible press than what hassle opponents gives you. With that shout I feel my players go absolutely bonkers and totally ignores their positional duties, leaving big gaps behind them. I want my players to have a high initial press, but if the opponent can pass through my press I want to have more positioning play and force the opponent out wide where my wing players can take care of them.
    2. I heard that you can make your WM(A) play like IF(A), but with more defensive effort. How do you get them to play like that? I play a 4-1-4-1 with two WM(A). I tried to use cut inside and sit narrower, but I still feel they play like wingers, going down the by-line to cross at my single striker who's not really good in the air.
