    2. Main Menu

Once the app has loaded you'll arrive at the Main Menu, where you are provided with the following options: New Game: Start a new Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 Career, attempt one of the Challenges, or try your hand at the 'My Club' mode, where you create a team in your own image and attempt to lead them to glory. Resume Game: Load and resume playing one of your saved games. If you only have one autosave available, this option will instead read 'Resume Game' and will load that game when selected. Store: Here you'll find a selection of optional in-game upgrades or challenges available for purchase. Settings: Configure your game settings. See the 'Preferences' section, located in the 'Options' section of this manual, for detailed explanations. About: The ‘About’ button will lead you to the Manual, technical Support, Credits, the EULA, and the Privacy Policy. Match: Load a previously saved match and watch it back in its entirety. 3. Starting a New Game

Select 'New Game' from the Main Menu, select Career and press 'Confirm'. You will then be taken through the process of customising your new Career, Challenge, or My Club game. To begin with, select Career. Then fill out your biographical profile, giving your manager a name and choosing whether you’re male or female, as well as choosing a nationality. This is followed by the Game Options screen: Enhanced Match Engine: Upon first loading Football Manager Mobile™ 2019, your device will check whether or not the Enhanced Match Engine is suitable for use. You can, however, choose whether or not to use it in your game from this screen too; the Original Match Engine is optimised for speed and intended for slower devices, should you wish to use it instead. Use Fake Players: Select this option to use a database consisting of entirely generated players and staff. Attribute Masking: When enabled, certain player attributes are not visible to you until you have scouted the player. If you wish to be able to see all player attributes from the start of the game you should you disable this option. Budgets in First Window: The database contains real world transfers from the most recent real life transfer window, but your save game will typically start before this window has finished. By disabling transfer budgets in the first transfer window you can add to the realism of your game by preventing teams from spending money they didn’t spend in real life. You can also choose your coaching style if you have an active coaching badge, select which unlockables you want to activate, and select your starting reputation. A starting reputation will allow a user to make the game more or less challenging. The higher a reputation you begin with, the more favourably people in the game world will view you initially. The ‘Superstar’ level can be unlocked naturally as you progress through the game by obtaining a world class reputation during normal play. Now you get to choose the leagues loaded into your game. Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 allows you to load any combination nations from the seventeen available at any one time. Some devices might place a restriction on the overall number of players you’re able to load into a saved game but, otherwise, the football world is your oyster. Do keep in mind that the more nations you use, the more spread out the players will be among the active clubs in the game. This is designed to ensure that whoever you manage has enough players to send out onto the pitch. However, it can sometimes mean that there are fewer players at other clubs in order to allow for smaller clubs to have enough players too. When you're happy with your selection, select 'Confirm'. The final and most important choice for you to make comes next; the team you wish to manage. Select the league from the list on the left of the screen, then the club you wish to manage. Press 'Confirm' to complete the process. You'll be presented with a Summary of your selections; simply press 'Confirm' one last time and your career can begin! Note: It is worth remembering that the higher up the league ladder you start your managerial career, the higher the expectations from the board, fans and media are likely to be. If you think you can handle it, dive into one of the top jobs. If you want to gain some experience first before hitting the big time, then it might be wise to begin at a lower level where mistakes are more easily forgiven and the glare of the media spotlight may be avoided. Starting a new Challenge There are four Challenges available from the start of the game: The Saviour Cometh: A club has appointed you as manager in their darkest hour; the midpoint of the season has passed and the team are struggling to avoid relegation. Can you guide them to safety? Injury Crisis: Your club has hit a freak spell where nearly all of your first team players are out injured. Can you guide the club through this troubled period and continue to achieve results to keep your job? Unrest at Home: Hired as a virtual unknown, your appointment has disappointed senior players at the club. Can you somehow manage to achieve the board's expectations and convince the players of your credentials? The Invincibles: Your club has gone on a long unbeaten run causing huge media speculation that the team might become one of the few teams to survive an entire season without defeat. Can you guide the team into the history books? Additionally, there are three Challenges available as an optional purchase: Austerity Measures: Your club is approaching serious financial difficulty. Can you maintain the club's competitive edge while at the same time lowering the wage budget? You Can't Win Anything with Kids: Your chairman has sold off your most experienced players in favour of promoting a new crop from the youth team. Can you guide them to victory? The Dangers of Capitalism: Your club's new chairman is selling off its assets. Can you keep the club functioning amidst the chaos? To unlock one of these challenges, select the Buy Now button and follow the on-screen prompts. After choosing a Challenge to attempt, select 'Confirm'. You will then be shown the league select screen. You can choose which nation in which you wish to play the Challenge mode. Press 'Confirm' to continue and then enter your name. Press 'Return' to close the keyboard, then 'Confirm' to continue. Next, select your nationality. Choose a continent from the column on the left of the screen, then select a nationality. Press 'Confirm' to continue. The final and most important choice for you to make comes next; the team you wish to manage. Select the league from the list across the top of the screen underneath the progress bar, then the league, and finally the club you wish to manage. Press 'Confirm' to complete the process. You'll be presented with a review of your selections; simply press 'Confirm' one last time and your career can begin! If you complete a Challenge, you will be given a medal. Upon completion of the challenge, you can either exit to the Main Menu and start a new career or continue the challenge as a career game. International Management Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 allows managers to test their skills at international level. You can apply for and accept international jobs within the game. Win an international competition during your career and from then on you can select a nation to manage when starting a new game. The league/s you select during game setup will dictate which nations are available to manage, and you can select the country to take charge of in the same way as you would a club side. Alternatively, you can fast-track your way to taking control of a national squad with the optional 'Manage National Team' purchasable item in the Store. My Club My Club gives you the option of creating a team from scratch; one which you can then enter into an existing league structure and attempt to lead to the promised land. To begin with, select Game Options and Unlockables you want active, and then the nations you wish to be active within your saved game. A maximum of four from fourteen may be selected, with the first nation picked being the 'main' active nation in the save. Enter your name and select a nationality (or use the stored details from a previously created profile) before choosing an existing team on which to base your new club; a template of sorts. This will also be the team you replace in the league, so make your choice carefully. You may then begin to customise and set up the finer details of your new team. Give them a name, pick their kit colours and determine the stadium capacity and quality of facilities. You may also want to pay close attention to the 'Squad Options' section of this screen. 'Squad Options' allows you to customise the make-up of your squad. You are able to retain the players from the club you're replacing and replace or remove them if you want to start with a blank canvas. Should you choose to Remove or Release the existing players and proceed with an empty squad, you will then be asked to begin the process of compiling the new group of players. You can create a brand new squad from scratch; it could be a completely fictional set of names, an homage to players from a bygone era, or even you and your friends. The choice is yours. When you're finished with your squad, hit 'Confirm' and complete the process of starting your new My Club saved game. Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 has expanded upon the My Club concept and now allows for Player Roles to be assigned to each member of your squad, as well as providing the ability to save a player from any Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 career and use them in your My Club squad. Starting Unemployed For the ultimate challenge, Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 allows you to start the game unemployed. You'll need to tout yourself for jobs and will most likely face the task of pulling a struggling club out of trouble. To enable this option, simply select the option to 'Start Unemployed' during the game setup steps. Good luck, you'll need it!
    4. The Interface

Football Manager Mobile™ 2019's interface is designed to be intuitive to the user to ensure that playing the game and using the abundance of features is made as easy as possible. The following is a short glossary to help explain some of the terms used in this manual. Action Bar The Action bar is displayed at the bottom of every screen. The Action Bar contains Action buttons that operate main functions for the item/s on the page and either complete or revert an action on them. On some pages, the Action Bar also contains the option to switch between different views of the item or group of items in question. Bookmarks Menu The Bookmarks Menu provides you with a list of screens for a game object which you can interact with and derive information from. It can be accessed from the Menu-styled button on the right-hand side of the Title Bar. In most cases, it is possible to swipe between the items listed on the bookmarks menu as indicated by the Swipe Dots displayed on the titlebar. You can configure this menu to animate (slide out) in Preferences. Game Object A game object roughly corresponds to an item in the game database; a person or team, for example. As a rule, each screen is intended to display information about a single game object (although the information may include lists of other game objects that are related to the main one). Screen A screen displays some information in the game. Normally the screen represents a single game object, for example a player or a team. Each screen has a title and one or more sections. The title will generally stay the same regardless of which section is being displayed. A screen can also have a subtitle, although often the current section determines this so it changes when the user chooses a different section. Example: An example of a screen in Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 would be the Person screen. This has several sections including Attributes, Contract and History. Screen Area The Screen Area is the part of the game's display that changes for each screen. It contains information related to the current screen. Side Menu The Side Menu is present on selected devices and allows the user to access specific screens quickly and easily from anywhere in the game without having to first return to the Home screen. It also contains quick links to both the Home and the News screens. You can configure this menu to animate (slide out) in Preferences. Title Bar The title features text indicating the purpose of the screen. The title will generally be displayed in a large font in a prominent place. The Title Bar also contains the Bookmarks Menu button when applicable - see the separate section relating to this. To the right of the Title Bar lies the Continue/Confirm button, which is used to progress through the game. Next to this is the current in-game date. The Back button is found on the left-hand end of the Title Bar. This returns the user to the screen which they previously visited. The Home screen allows the user to navigate to any area of the game relating directly to their job as manager and can always be accessed from the bottom left of any screen. The Home Screen Your first port of call can always be the Home screen. From here you can navigate to any area of Football Manager Mobile™ 2019; simply select the Home icon found in the bottom left corner of the screen to bring it up, or from the side menu on selected devices. The screen is divided into a series of panels. You can navigate to all things to do with the club you are managing, to your managerial hub or to the wider footballing world and its competitions. You can run a search for a player or a club, or configure your game options. You can always access your Inbox from the uppermost panel spanning the width of the pop-up overlay, or on the side menu on select devices . If there are unread items, it will inform you of how many there are, otherwise it will read 'No New Messages'. The 'Continue' button can always be found in the top right corner, next to the current date. Select it to advance the saved game. On select devices, the Home screen contains some more detailed panels that show useful information related to your club at the current point in the game. Navigation is undertaken via the Side Menu bar - please see the Interface section of the manual for further details. The News Screen The News screen is of similar, if not greater importance to you than the Home screen. Here, you will receive numerous messages keeping you informed of what's going on around the football world on a daily basis, as well as bringing forward important team matters that will require your attention. From the Home screen, select the uppermost panel to access the News screen. Upon arrival, you will be shown the oldest unread news item. Press 'First Item' to cycle through more recent items and 'Last Item' to go back. Some items will allow an optional response, while others will require a compulsory one. When this is the case, a button will appear to the side of the news item allowing you to respond. Most news items will also provide an Action Menu from which you'll be able to access pages relevant to the content; such as players, teams and competitions. On iPad, you will be able to see a list of news items on the left-hand side of the screen. You can use the 'Next Unread Item' button and/or scroll through the list to view all items. From time to time you will be given the option to post certain news items to Twitter (iOS 6+). Make sure you are logged in to your account and then select the option at the side of the news item. Note: The hashtag #FMM19 will be included in any news items you post from the game onto social media.
    5. Your Team

Squad The first time you view your First Team squad, your players will be sorted in order of team selection. Select 'View' to change the method of sorting. Selecting the 'Detailed' view will allow you to see multiple stats on screen at the same time. These can be sorted by tapping the header of the relevant column. You can tap the tiles in the PKD column of this screen to access a selection pop-up from which you can assign a position to the player in question. You can also drag and drop to select players for your team by dragging the tiles in the PKD column to the left of the player names. Select 'Actions' to completely clear your team selection, or if you need a hand, have your assistant pick the team for you. From the 'Actions' menu, you are also able to save and/or load your team selection or tactics. A variety of sub-screens relating to your team such as Tactics, Fixtures and your Assistant's report on your team can be found via the Bookmarks Menu from this screen or by swiping sideways. Player A player's attributes in Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 are rated on a scale of 1-20, with 1 being awful and 20 being outstanding. The player positions associated with each individual indicate where he can play. The abbreviations and key attributes associated with that position are as follows: Abbr. Description Main Attributes GK Goalkeeper Handling/Reflexes SW Sweeper Tackling/Passing/Positioning DL/R Left or Right Back Tackling/Stamina DC Centre Back Tackling/Heading/Positioning DMC/L/R Defensive Midfielder** Tackling/Stamina ML/R Left or Right Midfielder Passing/Crossing/Pace MC Central Midfielder Passing/Stamina M/AM R/L Midfielder/Att. The attributes themselves are divided into three areas of Technical, Mental and Physical ability, but unlike Football Manager™ 2019 only the key attributes are shown. For example, under 'Physical', you will find a player's Pace attribute. This takes into account his flat out speed, his acceleration and his reactions, and displays an attribute that takes all of this into account. In short, the attribute display doesn't take anything away, but merely streamlines the information into a more succinct format. Player Indicators Before you select your team, you need to know the availability of your players. Occasionally a player will be flagged up on the Squad screen with an icon indicating a personal status. You can find out what this means on the 'Availability' screen. These are displayed in the bottom row as follows: Abbr. Description Bid Under transfer bid Ctr Out of contract Cup The player is cup-tied for the next match Fgn The player is considered as foreign according to a competition's rules Ine The player is ineligible for the next match Inj Injured Int On International duty Loa Listed for loan Lst Transfer Listed Req Transfer Listed by request Ret Retiring Sct The player is being scouted by the user Sus Suspended for next match Trn Transfer Arranged Unf Not fully fit Unh Unhappy Wnt Wanted by a club Yel The player is a yellow card away from suspension                           Player Screens A Player has various screens that can be viewed via the Bookmarks Menu button on his Profile or by swiping sideways: Profile: The one-stop shop featuring all of the most pertinent information about the player. This is the screen you're likely to use most. Personal: Displays the player's basic biographical details and happiness. Positions: The Player Positions screen displays all positions an individual is capable of playing in, and their proficiency at the role should they be selected there. It also displays their preferred foot. Contract: Displays the player's current contractual status and any interest in his services from other teams. Eligiblity: The Player Eligibility screen allows the user to see if a player is available for the next upcoming fixture and includes any details of injuries or suspensions currently being served. It will also display any of a player's status indicator icons. History: Displays the player's career history and seasonal statistics. Achievements: Displays all notable individual and team achievements from a player's career. Coach Report: This option provides a report to you on the chosen individual by a member of the club's coaching staff. This gives you a different perspective on the player which you may not hold yourself, allowing you to make more informed decisions. Progress: This option keeps track of the player's development on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. A graph tracks the progression of Physical, Mental, Attacking and Defending attributes, as well as an overall view, with further indicators telling you if the player was injured, on loan, or on holiday during the off-season. Tap the tick icon next to one of the areas to add or remove it from your graph. Form: Keeps track of the player's form over the course of the season, offering both a graph display and a list of the matches he plays in. Training: Allows you full control over the player’s training regime. You can ask him to focus on a specific role, at a specific intensity, and even isolate a single attribute to improve. Your Assistant Manager will provide a summary of how the players has been doing lately, as well as a table of Pros and Cons regarding the immediate outlook for his development. Player Interaction Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 features an in-depth player interaction model. The user may interact with any of their own players and talk to them in either a positive or negative manner. From the 'Actions' menu on any player belonging to your club, select the 'Player Interaction' option. You have two types of interaction available to you, Positive and Negative, and then a reason behind each as to why you’re initiating the interaction. You can indicate your pleasure or dissatisfaction with a player in either a public or a private manner; some players will react better to private discussion while others will thrive on the world knowing. Taking your Assistant's advice into account can be advisable, as he may know the player well and can advise on the best way to handle things in order to avoid a possible conflict and morale change. With improved rationale across a range of areas, you have the ability to properly convey your thoughts to your players; praise their performances, discipline them for poor performances or disciplinary issues. The choice is yours. Used wisely, the interaction model will enable you to get your players playing at the top of their game consistently and remain motivated. Used badly, you could have a squad of unhappy players on your hands. Selecting your Team Before each match you will need to select a starting line-up and substitutes. To add a player to the starting line-up, press the icon to the left of his name. This will prompt you to select the position in which you wish to place him. You can also press and hold the player's name before dragging it to the desired spot, then releasing it to complete the action. On iPad and select devices , you can tap or drag the tiles from the top of the squad screen on to a player to pick him. You can swap players around within the line-up by dragging them on to each other. You can also tap the player's icon to assign him to a free position in the formation or to remove him from the line-up. You will need to select a full starting eleven plus however many substitutes are permitted for the competition in which you are participating. Should you want some advice on selecting a starting line-up, you may ask your Assistant Manager for a team selection by pressing 'Actions' and then 'Pick Team'. You are able to save up to four team selections, which can then be loaded for future matches. To do this, select 'Actions' from the squad screen, and then 'Save Selection'. The saved selections can also be loaded from here. Selecting your Captain To select your team captain, go to the Home screen and select your Club panel, then 'Tactics'. Select the 'Tactics' icon from the bottom right corner of the screen (or from the side menu on select devices by choosing ‘Assignments’ and then ‘Captain’) and then the 'Captain' option. Tap the tile of the player you would like to select as team captain to add them to the column on the right. This sets the order in which they will be used as captain. If you need to review any player's attributes before selecting them, tap on their name and you will be taken to the Player Profile screen, where you can review each candidate before deciding on who to nominate. Tap 'Back' to return to the Captain Selection screen. Negotiating Player Contracts This section applies to both re-negotiating contracts with your current players as well as discussing terms with a potential new signing. If you have had a transfer offer accepted for a player, or you are looking to sign a player (see Transfers), you will be taken to the 'Contract Offer' pop-up. Alternatively, if you are looking to renegotiate a contract with a current member of your squad, go to that player's profile screen and select the 'Offer Contract' option from the Action Bar. On the 'Contract Offer' screen you will be informed of exactly what the player expects. Tweak the various terms of the contract, such as 'Wage', 'Contract Length', and 'Signing-On Fee', to your taste before submitting the offer. The ‘Mood’ gauge offers an insight into how the player will react to your offer; each time you hit ‘Suggest Terms’, the mood will react to your latest deal on the table. Some players might demand a release clause, such as a Minimum Fee Release Clause. To enable or disable these clauses tap On or Off depending on whether or not you wish to include them. Once you are happy with the contract offer, press 'Confirm'. You will be informed of the player's response via the 'News' screen within a few days. Should he refuse the offer but feels there are grounds to continue discussions, he will give you the chance to negotiate further. Terminating Player Contracts If you have a player in your squad who you have no use for, and you are unable to tempt another club into taking him off your hands, you can release him on a free transfer. To do this, go to the player profile screen and select 'Release' from the 'Actions' menu. You will need to then confirm that this is your intended course of action. The player will leave the club immediately and you will have to pay off the remainder of his contract. Important: Since Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 uses a maximum squad limit of 40 players (with a further 40 also allowed in the reserves), releasing players might become more important than you initially think. If you've lined up a potential signing but have no squad room, somebody will have to be released. Think carefully about signings and the consequences that come with them. Assistant Manager Your Assistant Manager has a vitally important role to play in your career. Essentially, he or she is your link to your squad at all times, and is a source of vital information on a daily basis. A good Assistant Manager is a valuable asset who can make a manager's job a much more comfortable one. Amongst numerous duties, one of the most important is to offer opinions on your squad on the Team Report screen, accessible via the Bookmarks Menu on the 'Squad' screen. The Team Report is spilt into four sections. The ‘Team Summary’ screen presents Positive and Negative key point summaries regarding your squad, whilst the ‘Suggested XI’ will suggest the strongest possible starting eleven for the next match given the current fitness, form and availability of your players. The ‘Squad Depth’ view will see your Assistant Manager indicate a preferred hierarchy of players for every position on the pitch, and the ‘Club Stats’ view details some interesting details about the make-up of the squad overall. Requesting Coach and Physio Reports If you wish to get an opinion on any of your players from a member of your coaching staff, visit the player's Profile screen and select 'Coach Report' from the Bookmarks Menu. Your Assistant Manager will immediately offer an opinion of the player to you. Your Physio will also offer their informed view, allowing you to make appropriate decisions.
    6. Tactics

Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 features a detailed tactics model, designed to allow the user more flexibility than ever before when setting up their approach to matches. Formation The best way of determining which formation to use is to look at the players in your squad. There is little point trying to play three at the back if you only have two decent central defenders or playing with wingers when you don't have any in your squad. Try to work out what tactic would be best suited to the players you have at your disposal and set a formation to suit them instead of forcing players into positions they're not comfortable playing in. Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 comes with a number of standard formations for you to select from and work with. As advised, pick one of these formations based on your personnel and not your favourite as you may have to play players out of position. In order to set your formation, go to the 'Tactics' screen and select 'Formation' from the 'Tactics' menu option in the bottom right of the screen. To further customise a formation, tap a position icon on a pitch and then tap again in the location on the pitch where you would like that player to be positioned. Alternatively, you can drag a player to a position that is not currently active in the formation. For example, using a standard 4-4-2 formation, you can move one of the midfielders to an Attacking Midfield position by tapping twice or by dragging his position icon into a vacant slot on the pitch. Once you are happy with a Tactic, save it from the 'Action' menu. Up to four Tactics can be saved in this way and loaded into any saved game. Team Instructions 'Team Instructions' can be set to make your team act as a unit during a match. They can be set or changed at any time, both between fixtures and during matches. Tactical Shape Team Mentality Overload An emergency mentality where the kitchen sink is figuratively thrown in an effort to score. All defensive thinking goes out of the window and players get both themselves and the ball into attacking positions with the utmost urgency. Likely to only be used at the end of matches in which you’re trailing. Attacking A dynamic forward-thinking mentality aiming to get the ball into the attacking third with regularity and then keep it there. Defenders will recycle the ball to allow the forwards an opportunity to rest before going again, keeping the throttle wide open, and aiming to pin the opponent back with relentless attacking play. Control More defensive-focused that it might sound, the control mentality expects the team to have a lot of the ball, but remains cautious with defensive positioning so as to not allow opponents to catch them on the counter attack. Players will generally be expected to pick and choose their moments to break out of the mentality and shape and exploit openings when they clearly arise. Balanced The comfortable middle ground for a manager; a standard mentality carefully balances defence and attack and provides the foundation upon which tactical adjustments can be made to focus on a particular strategy. Counter Becoming a little more adventurous, a counter mentality still treats defending as the most important team focus, but allows for a more expansive approach when possession is achieved. They will look to move the ball from front to back at speed and with longer, searching passes to carry an attacking threat without compromising their defensive solidity. Defensive A defensive mentality isn’t quite as single-minded as a contain mentality but seeks to achieve the same end result. Players look to get behind the ball, defend in numbers, and look to make whatever they can out of direct balls to the forwards. Contain A contain mentality effectively ‘parks the bus’ in front of your own goal, seeks to restrict space for the opposition to exploit, and is a damage-limitation approach aiming to prevent goals going in rather than looking to score them. Width Wide Asks your players to make full use of the wide areas at every opportunity. Balanced Provides a balanced use of wide areas when the game flow allows for it. Narrow Asks your players to predominantly focus on playing their football in central areas of the pitch. Tempo Fast Asks your players to play at speed and with a greater intensity in all areas of the pitch. Normal Asks your players to operate in a balanced manner according to the flow of the match. Slow Asks your players to play at lower speeds, taking the sting out of the match, and often seeking to frustrate an opponent looking to play at a faster tempo. Creative Freedom Expressive Allows your players to more freely express themselves in terms of positional structure and individual mentality deviating away from the overall team mentality. Balanced Provides a balance between Expressive and Disciplined according to the flow of the game. Disciplined Asks your players to remain focused on the set task, sticking to the team mentality and maintaining a unified look rather than breaking out individually. Defensive Instructions Defensive Line High Asks your defenders to push up the pitch, closer to the midfield, in an effort to compact the space in which the opposition can operate. Balanced Asks your defenders to operate in a normal fashion that both asks questions of the opposition but doesn’t leave them exposed at the back. Deep Asks your defenders to sit deeper, closer to their own goal, and keep the opposition play in front of them rather than risk being exposed in behind. Closing Down All Over Your players will close down their opponents at all times, anywhere on the pitch. Own Half Your players will only seek to close down their opponents when in their own defensive half of the pitch. Sit Back Your players will back off the opposition, not closing them down and playing a positional defensive style. Tackling Cautious Your players will be cautious when challenging for the ball. They will only make tackles that they are sure they can win in order to avoid picking up injuries and bookings. Normal Your players will go in for a fair percentage of tackles but they will not be reckless. Committed Your players will hit their opponents hard when trying to win the ball. If there's a slight chance of coming away with the ball, they will attempt the tackle. Offside Trap Yes Your team will attempt to play the offside trap. The defensive line will push up and attempt to catch out the opposition. No Your team will not play the offside trap, playing with a deeper defensive line and more man-based marking. Time Wasting Yes Your players will seek to waste time throughout the course of a match. No Your players will look to play normally and not attempt to run out the clock. Attacking Instructions Final Third Early Crosses Instructs players to get the ball into the penalty area with early crosses as soon as they receive the ball in a position to do so. Look for Overlap Instructs your players to hold onto the ball and look for an overlapping player in support, most likely a marauding full-back. Shoot on Sight Instructs your players to shoot when the opportunity arises instead of waiting for a more clear-cut opening. Work Into Box Instructs your players to work hard for their opening, remaining patient and not forcing the issue, but rather retaining the ball until the breakthrough occurs. 7. Fixtures

Your fixture list can be accessed through the Club menu and shows all of your scheduled matches over the course of a season. It includes friendlies, league and cup games.
    8. Team Report

The Team Report is split into four sections.
    9. Training

The Team Report is split into four sections. The ‘Team Summary’ screen presents Positive and Negative key point summaries regarding your squad, whilst the ‘Suggested XI’ will suggest the strongest possible starting eleven for the next match given the current fitness, form and availability of your play Training in Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 simplifies what you have to do to make sure your players are in peak physical condition going into each match. Overview This screen shows an overview of your club's current training programme. The Bookmarks menu in the Title Bar allows you to view the impact your training schedules are having on the players’ attributes in key areas. ‘Focus Role’ allows you to task the player with working predominantly on a particular role during training. This will allow him to improve in a position if he already knows how to play there, or begin to learn to do so if he doesn’t. Descriptions are provided alongside each role to help you understand what your players are working towards. ‘Intensity’ governs how hard they work during training. Intensive asks the most of them, potentially resulting in a quicker improvement, but at the risk of a higher chance of picking up an injury. A lighter intensity reduces that risk considerably, but the player’s development will be slower as a result. A medium intensity is set by default to offer the best balance overall, but you are free to change these as your circumstances require. The ‘Progress’ bar shows how well the player is developing towards achieving his full potential. A fuller progress bar indicates they are making considerable strides towards that mark, but a full bar does not necessarily represent the fact they have hit their potential; rather, it reflects a particular platform upon which they can then continue to develop and try to reach new heights.ers. The ‘Squad Depth’ view will see your Assistant Manager indicate a preferred hierarchy of players for every position on the pitch, and the ‘Club Stats’ view details some interesting details about the make-up of the squad overall.
    10. Finances

This is one of the most important screens in the game. Your club's financial state, transfer budget and wages are displayed here. The Maximum Wage indicates the highest wage that the board will allow you to offer a player. You'll find yourself regularly visiting this screen to keep abreast of your financial situation. If you're in the market for a player, you're going to want to check you've got the necessary funds before attempting to sign him. Adjust Budgets Accessed via your club's Finances screen, the 'Adjust Budgets' option allows you to transfer funds between your Transfer and Wage Budgets. Move cash between budgets by tapping along the adjustable slider. If you are already operating over budget, your ability to move funds will be restricted.
    11. Staff

Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 comes with a wide range of staffing possibilities. Your Assistant Manager is joined by a select number of Coaches and Scouts and, depending on the size and stature of your club, you can expand the size of your backroom team to help them operate more effectively. Just like the Assistant Manager, each Coach has a profile displaying their basic biographic details as well as their Aptitude, Coaching Style and Coaching Badge level. You can ask them to take a Coaching Exam in order to improve their credentials as a Coach, as well as Promote them to Assistant Manager (and indeed Demote your Assistant to become a Coach). Physios can also be hired to benefit your squad from a fitness and injury prevention/rehabilitation point of view. Physios range in ability and speciality, with each having differing effects on your players. Scouts can be hired to help you identify those all-important new signings to add to your squad. You can place an advert for interested people to apply for a position, and you can also offer a role to senior players in your squad. Ensure you have the relevant availability in your backroom staff. Offer roles to senior players, within a few weeks (once the senior players have considered your offer) you may get a news item from anyone interested in taking up a coaching role. You will then have a decision to make, whether or not to offer the player a role in your backroom staff.
    12. Club Information

The Club Information screen, accessed via the 'Info' button, displays important information about a club. To view the Info screen of another club, select the Bookmarks button in the Title Bar, and find the General Info option. Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 provides more detailed and dedicated Club Stats to keep you fully informed about the progress the club is making on all fronts.
    13. Transfers

There aren't many managers in the world who would confess to being completely happy with their current playing squad. Let's face it, half the fun of being a football manager is wheeling and dealing! So, with that in mind, let's have a quick look at how best to go about buying and selling players. As soon as you take over at a club you will be looking to add new players to your squad as you ship out the dead wood and look to find the right players for your team and tactics. Buying Players Under Contract To make an offer for a player, go to the player's screen. Select 'Make Offer' from the Action Bar. When making a transfer bid, your primary focus is on how much you are willing to pay. Setting an appropriate Transfer Fee' will be looked upon more favourably by the club you're making the offer to; try to ensure that you're offering at least 100% of the player's current valuation as a starting point. You can set a Transfer Date and include a Sell-On Percentage in the deal in order to entice the player's club into selling. The latter is perhaps more valuable to a club when they are subject to an offer for one of their younger talents. Should you just wish to enquire about a player's availability or what a team might be looking for should they sell him, change the 'Offer Type' to 'Enquiry'. They will respond quickly, at which point you can consider your options accordingly. Your Assistant Manager will offer his opinion of the player to you at the top of the 'Transfer Offer' screen. When you are satisfied with your offer, select ‘Suggest Terms’ and you will receive a response from the players’ current club. You can then tweak your offer to entice the club to sell the player. Each time you press Suggest Terms you will get a response from the selling club. Once terms have been agreed press Submit Offer to finalise negotiations. If the player's club accept the offer, you will be given the opportunity to offer the player a contract. See the section on Negotiating Player Contracts earlier in this manual for more information on doing this. Bosman Moves and Free Transfers A player with six months or less remaining on his contract may be subject to offers from other clubs without permission from his current employers. To sign a player who is coming towards the end of his contract (known as a Bosman move), go to his Profile and select 'Offer Contract'. You will be taken to the 'Contract Offer' screen to put together the details of your offer. Under the Bosman ruling, players aged 24 and above may move freely without cost. If he is below 24 years of age, you will be required to pay his club a compensation fee which is decided by an independent tribunal. When managing in England, Bosman moves are restricted domestically until 4 weeks before the player's contract expires. Signing a player who is without a club is far less complicated as you merely have to convince the player that he should sign for you. Most players will be pleased to get back into football but if your club isn't big enough or he doesn't like the terms on offer, he may well prefer to remain a free agent. Selling Players To sell a player, go to his Profile and select 'Transfer Status'. From here you can either place him on the Transfer List, or make him available for a loan move. You may also wish to take advantage of the 'Offer to Clubs' option, which can be found in the 'Actions' menu. The player's availability will be circulated around interested parties with the hope of attracting an offer. If one or more of these clubs become interested, you will notice the 'Wnt' icon in the player's status section on his Availability page (see the section on 'Player Indicators' earlier in this manual). Any subsequent bids will arrive in your Inbox. Loaning Players In a football world where money is becoming increasingly scarce, loaning players has become a popular method of adding to your squad without spending big. It has become increasingly common for big clubs to take advantage of the system by loaning out younger players to smaller teams in order for them to gain first team experience, or simply to get out-of-favour players off the wage bill. Should you wish to loan a player, simply change the type of transfer offer. You can now determine the length of loan deal in the same way as you changed the value in the offer for a permanent transfer. You can also offer to pay anything up to 100% (in 10% increments) of the player's weekly wage whilst he is on loan as a potential sweetener to get the deal done. The percentage you are able to offer is restricted to your current Maximum Wage, displayed on the Finances screen. Loan-to-buy deals can be negotiated for situations where you want to make a temporary deal permanent, either for the arrival of a new player or for getting someone off your books. Loaning Players Back Clubs are increasingly on the lookout for young talent to build their squad around in the years to come, but with so much competition for their services they're often forced to act early and sign a player before he's ready to contribute fully. These players are often signed and then immediately loaned back to their former club. You will have the option to leave the player at his club when making a bid in order to allow him to develop in a more stable environment. Searching Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 features a Scouting Agency which allows you to look at, and monitor, a ranked list of the top 50 players in the game both for current ability and for future potential. Away from the Scouting Agency, your scouts can be assigned to specific regions of the world in which to search for talent, or to specifically search for youth players. To assign a scout, select 'Scout Results' from the Search menu. You can now select assignments for your scouting team by using the 'Manage Assignments' button. Choose a region or whether to specifically look for youth talent or not, then press 'Assign Scout' to send your scout off on their assignment. At any time, you can revisit this screen to see the players your scout has recommended thus far. To recall the scout and perhaps send him to another location, simply change your settings as detailed above. Any player can also be scouted individually from their profile screen. Simply select 'Scout Player' from the 'Actions' menu and your scout will provide a report shortly. Scouts Scouts come with specialist skills for you to choose from. Select from 'Bargain Hunter', 'Tactical Analyst', 'First Team' and 'Youth Scout' and utilise your scouting team in a more powerful way than ever before. Use the assignment list to keep track of the work being done by your scouts and the players they recommend. Select a player to view a comprehensive and detailed scouting report reporting on positives and negatives as well as likely interest, wage demands and an expected transfer fee. Player Search The Player Search function has been designed to allow the user to precisely define and refine their search for new talent. To access the Player Search screens, select 'Search' and then 'Player Search'. To customise a filter, select 'Customise' and then configure the various fields available to you. In Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 you can now save your Search Filters by selecting the 'Load/Save' button on the Action bar. You can save up to four filters which can then be loaded in future, including during other save games. You may change as many of these fields as you wish. This enables you to pinpoint precisely the type of player you are looking for. You can change the page of the Search Results that you are viewing either by using the swipe functionality or by selecting the next or previous page button, located in the Title Bar. Shortlist Your shortlist contains all the players you have ever bid for as well as those you have manually added. Once a player is on your shortlist, you will receive news items on any information relevant to him. To add a player to your shortlist, select the 'Shortlist Player' option from the 'Actions' button at the bottom of his Profile screen. To remove a player, repeat this process and choose the 'Shortlist Delist' option. In Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 you can save up to four Shortlists which can be loaded at any time during a save game. This enables you to have different Shortlists for different types or qualities of players. Select the disk icon in the bottom left of the Shortlist screen to save or load a Shortlist. Scouting Agency The Scouting Agency brings together all of your club's knowledge of the wider footballing world and presents it to you in a helpful manner, making it easier than ever to identify potential transfer targets. Your Scout will present a list of the best Senior and Youth (Wonderkid) players around the world, ranking them in order of how well they're currently playing. Also included in the Agency's work is the Player Form section, which indicates who's Hot and who's not. Swipe left and right to switch between the Hot and Cold list. At the start of the game both form lists will be empty, but as the season progresses the pages will become populated based on how players have been performing. Use this feature to help you find who to add to your shortlist (and who to avoid!). All you have to do then is convince the stars of the future to join your team! Player Comparison The Player Comparison page, accessible by browsing any player and selecting 'Comparison' from the 'Actions' menu, allows you to compare any two players. Once you have chosen both players, tap 'Confirm' and you'll be taken to the Player Comparison screen where their attributes will be displayed. To view additional information, tap 'View' where you'll be given detailed attribute and stat comparison options. Find Club The Find Club screens allow you to look at any club or national side around the world, should you wish to do so. Use the continent pages to navigate between regions of the world and select a nation to view all the clubs that are based there. Additionally, you can use the 'National Team' button in the Action Bar to view the national team for that nation.
    14. Jobs

Nothing lasts forever and the harsh reality of football is that managers do get the sack. Should the worst happen and you receive your P45, you will need to pick yourself up and get down to the Job Centre. This can be accessed by selecting 'Jobs' from the 'Search' menu. The screen lists every job available in active leagues and the security of each, so if a job becomes available you can apply for it. To do so, select the desired team and press 'Apply for Job'. You can also now declare interest in any job that appears on the list where the current manager’s job is under threat by selecting the club and press ‘Declare Interest’.
    15. You, The Manager

This section deals with everything regarding your managerial persona. Manager Options You can request that your Assistant Manager takes control of friendly matches. You can also set the Assistant Manager to offer players to other clubs on loan after they have been demoted to the Reserves. The age limit for players you wish him to offer out may also be specified here. Board Confidence If you're going to be successful in your job, it's imperative that you satisfy the demands of the Board; and they can be quite demanding. The Board Confidence screen has five parts to it, all of which reflect a different facet of your management of the club. The Board will give you their current thoughts on your progress in competitions, your financial control, recent form, your transfer activity, current squad harmony, and an overall summary. Confidence in your performances in these areas can be gauged by the bar displayed under each heading. A bar in the middle of the scale represents a neutral opinion. As confidence in your performance grows, this bar will fill up towards the right. If confidence disappears and people start questioning your actions, the bar will empty towards the left. You naturally want to be aiming to have as much of every bar filled as possible. When managing a national team and a club at the same time, you can switch between viewing the Nation Confidence or Club Confidence. Do this by selecting the Bookmarks button in the Title Bar or by swiping. Manager Profile Your managerial profile is accessible from your home screen. Simply select 'Manager Profile' from the 'Manager' menu. Your achievements are detailed on this screen, as well as your all-time record of matches played. History This screen contains details of your overall match record in charge of your team by year and by competition. Trophy Cabinet Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 includes a Trophy Cabinet section so you can track all of your accolades and get a run-down of all trophies, awards and manager achievements won during your undoubtedly successful career. Board Request You are able to approach the Board with requests to enhance the team or the club as a whole. The options available to you are: Increase Transfer Budget: Maybe you don't have sufficient funds available to acquire the type of player your team needs, or maybe you have a deal pending that requires a little financial input on top of what you have. Ask your board for some more money and they'll get back to you immediately with their response. Increase Wage Budget: Similar to the above; if your wage structure doesn't allow for the player(s) you would like, asking the board to raise the bar a little could be the key to unlocking success. Extra Time to Rebuild the Squad: If your team is in a bad way and you begin to feel your job could become insecure, asking the board for some more time to carry out your work can earn a little breathing room and more time to turn things around. Expand Stadium: If possible, and if the board feel it is worth the investment, the stadium will be expanded and the maximum attendance increased. Improve Training Facilities: If the board agree to your request, they will work to improve training facilities at the club. This will sometimes lead to better young players being produced by the youth team. Offer Resignation: Should it all become too much, you have the option to leave it all behind and resign from your team. You will leave the team with immediate effect. Use these with some common sense. Constantly asking your board for various things will see them become impatient fairly quickly, especially early in your career, and they'll soon let you know when they believe you should be focusing on the team rather than them. Holiday You may leave the running of the club to the Assistant Manager and put your feet up for a bit, but beware that this comes with the risk of losing your job should the team's fortunes take a turn for the worse in your absence. To do this, simply select 'Holiday' from the 'Manager' panel. You will be prompted to configure your settings for your assistant to follow in your absence. Should you have had enough of your current club, you may opt to apply for higher managerial jobs automatically during your absence. When you're ready to return, tap anywhere on the screen. Coaching Badges Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 features Coaching Badges. You will attain a Coaching Badge by unlocking 5, 10 or 15 in-game Achievements. A Bronze badge is unlocked after 5, Silver at 10 and Gold at 15. Each badge will improve the overall effect of training on your squad. If you have coaching badges available when starting a new game and creating a new user profile, you will be able to select a managerial persona from the list below: General Improves Ability gains. Defensive Improves Defensive Ability gains. Attacking        Improves Attacking Ability gains. Motivational Improves Morale. Goalkeeping       Improves Goalkeeper Ability gains. Youth    Improves Youth Ability gains. Fitness Improves Fitness Ability gains. Each Coaching Badge is also available to buy from the Store. Game Status The Game Status screen shows the type of game you are playing. It will also confirm the team you are managing as well as the amount of time that you have been playing the game.
    16. Matchday

When Match Day arrives, the 'Continue Game' button at the top right area will change to 'Go To Match'. Once you have selected your match day squad, press 'Go to Match' and you will proceed to the match screen. Note: For Phone users only, should you get a phone call during a match and choose to answer it, your match will pause and can be resumed on return to the game. You will have the opportunity to change the match engine version from the Starting Configuration section but can only make this change before starting a career. You can configure your 2D matchday setup from the 'Settings' menu, whilst the other Match Day views can be accessed via the Bookmarks menu in the bottom right of the screen. Football Manager Mobile™ 2019 rates each player's performance in the match out of 10, with 10 being the highest, indicating a simply outstanding display. Match Stats The match stats panel gives you all the stats you need to know about the current match. How many shots each team has had and how many were on target, how many set-pieces have been given to either side, who has committed the most fouls, etc. Action Zones This panel divides the pitch into three zones; defence, midfield, and attack. The bar charts display a visual graphic of how much time each team has spent in a particular zone, giving you an idea of who has held the upper hand during the game. Home Stats and Away Stats The Home and Away Stats panels detail up-to-the-minute stats on every move the players have made during the match, from how many passes a player has completed to how many tackles he has won. This screen becomes of most use during situations where teams are fighting for position and every result counts towards a change. One moment you may be up, but the next you're down and it may require a tactical change or rethink. Check this screen in those situations to be ahead of the game. Match Tactics At the first pause in play you will be taken to the Tactics screen. While only being able to view the tactical shape of the opposition, you can make numerous adjustments to your own team as you attempt to outwit the opposing manager.

    19. Troubleshooting

What to do if you're in need of assistance. Crashes If your game is crashing it's most likely because your device is low on RAM. Simply rebooting your device will refresh the memory and should allow you to play on without any problems. To fully reboot, hold the sleep button until prompted to 'slide to power off'. Then simply hold the sleep button again to turn the device back on. If you have an iOS device that can multi-task, running a lot of backgrounded apps at once will increase the chances of it running out of memory. To close backgrounded apps, double-tap the home button to bring up the multi-task ribbon and close apps either by flicking them away from this or by pressing and holding them until the red mark appears on them, then tapping them. If your game is still crashing after a reboot then that would suggest a more serious error, such as a corrupt installation. Try deleting the game from your device by pressing the FM Mobile 2019 icon until it shakes, then press the 'x' to delete. Re-sync your device with your computer and try the game again. Please note that deleting the app from your device will mean you lose any save files not already backed up to your computer. If all else fails, head over to our forums at http://community.sigames.com and our FM Mobile team will be on hand to help. Loading Saved Games If your game is failing to load an autosave or manual save file, it's most likely because your device is low on memory. Simply rebooting your device will refresh the memory and should allow you to load the file and play on without any problems. To fully reboot, hold the sleep button until prompted to 'slide to power off'. Then simply hold the sleep button again to turn the device back on. If after a reboot your save game file still won't load, head to our forums at community.sigames.com and we'll do our best to help. We always advise you never quit during gameplay then restart the app immediately as it takes a few seconds after quitting for the game to autosave your progress in the background. Restarting the app immediately could interrupt this process and corrupt the autosave file. For this reason we recommend waiting at least 10 seconds before restarting the app after quitting during gameplay. Team Selection There are a number of different ways to select your team, involving both tapping and dragging. In short, tapping activates a particular item which can then be moved to a destination when that is tapped. Alternatively, items can be dragged from one location to another. Missing Players If you've delved into the game already you may have noticed that your favourite team is missing one or two squad players. This is an unfortunate consequence of the squad size limit we have to enforce to make sure that players are evenly distributed throughout the game. We extract our data directly from Football Manager's huge database and prioritise the players included based on reputation, current and potential ability.
