I'm currently at the end of the season in the Vanarama National North with Peterborough Sports. It's the 5th of May 2024 so the transfer window is open. I have set players for release for when their contract expires on 30/06/2024. My finance screen shows the following:
Wage Budget: £6535 p/w
Current Spending: £6923 p/w
Committed Spending: £3897 p/w
Available Budget £2600
However when I offer a contract to anybody, I am limited to £65 p/w, I assume because I am currently over budget. In previous years setting players for release means that you can offer contracts because the game knows you're releasing a lot of the players in your current spending but it seems now I am locked in. This means I cannot sign anybody until 30/06/2024 when the contacts expire and players are released from the club, but this seems very unrealistic and contrary to previous editions of the game. The board is telling me I have £2600 available but I can't commit to spending it because I'm over budget.
