i can't have success at tactics

hi guys,

i have been playing FM series since 2008.i had fun to play all till fm 2016.i was be able to get success some teams like roma,liverpool,fenerbahçe or second division teams.everthing going on terrible in fm 2016.i cant get even %50 -55 ball possesion against poor teams.when i try to play low tempo,narrow width and short passing,against team sitting deep and get counter attack and destroy me almost every match.i am trying to play with more direct passing with a bit faster tempo at that time i only get %40-45 ball possession.i am not tactic guru but i was be able to build a tactic to had a success in this game.i am really confused
