Technical issue

Have been running the game since its release and now can't play. All that time I have been running in offline mode, no updates attempted etc. Suddenly I am getting a message that first says verifying game cache and subsequently reads 'steam servers are busy'. Been trying for a few days now so can't believe they are that busy. Have tried force quitting steam and trying again (A LOT), stopping the process in my utilities (I am a MAC user) and have uninstalled. Can't reinstall as I am still getting a server busy message.

This is really annoying me as I hadn't touched it, it simply can't be user error. May I suggest to SI that we don't get it on Steam next year, although why it went back after the complaints from the previous try I don't know. Almost definitely a financial decision I suspect. Why was an option to play completely from the disc not included?!

Any help on the matter would be appreciated.
