Help re Steam and launching/installling the game?

Hi, need a bit of help

I have the retail version of FM2010 on my laptop

Bought a netbook this week and read all the advice about skins and windowed mode etc

However, when I downloaded the game on it via Steam, it won't bloody launch. I've read about how you have to edit the shortcut to boot in windowed mode, the problem is it hasn't actually installed yet, the shortcut just points to the Steam folder

So at the moment the game is just showing in Steam as 'Ready' but when launched does nothing.

Any ideas?
