  1. I remember mark Kerr being too good for Dundee united where he started, must have been fm 08 or something.

Waaaaaaay earlier than FM08. He was being mentioned in this sort of thread around then. CM03/04, maybe.

Eduardo Ratinho, anyone? Along with Rafinha (he is a good player tbf) he was one of the best young right backs in the game from about FM06-08. Doesn't even start in Brazil any more. See also: Kerlon, Lulinha.

As for Supat Rugratsamee (sp), he was accidentally put into the game when Pompey signed him as a young teenager. His age was decreased by one every year rather than removing him until he was old enough.

  2. I just beat Fulham 5-0 on FM10. I was playing 4-5-1, so I was never going to get all eleven men in the team of the week, but the selection of the second striker surprised me. Apologies for the poor cropping (I cut off the end of Vargas' name).

Andy Johnson didn't play in Fulham's first match of the week, and he only came off the bench in their match against us, getting a 6.8. Surely another striker did better than that?

  3. I got a really stupid question...

What is the meaning of run from deep?

Does it just mean foward run?

I put a player on MC, while run from deep is activated on him, he will go back then go back to the MC place ?

Or I put a player on MC, while run from deep is activated on him, he will go front to the place on AMC or even ST?

Which one is the correct answer? I am really confused.

He will move forward when it is appropriate.

  4. thank you SCIAG.

A couple more questions please. I have a young 16 y.o. player. He does not fit into my youth squad. I put him on loan and best offers are from a lower division as a cover.

    1) How important are the matches to the development to the player?

    2) Would he still progress if I keep in my youth squad without the youth matches. Or would it be better for him to go into a lower division?

    1) They are the everything to his development when out on loan as you no longer control the shape of his attributes.

    2) At 16, I'd keep him in the youth side unless he's outstanding.

I find the loan statuses can be misleading though, so it may be worth loaning him out anyway.

  5. umm, where can i see the review of the season, like best and worst transfer of the season ect..

Not really a tactics question, but go to "[competition]", then something like overview?

Is there a way to look how i set my team in past matches? for example I was playing 2 weeks ago against some team and I made few changes in my tac but then restore them to default.

Can i recover this instructions in other way then watching replay and try to recall them?

    No.

  6. DMCs won't get that many assists if they play that deep. I'd say 1 in 15 isn't bad. Maybe give them more direct passing?

Lone strikers are annoyingly ineffective in my experience, though I can get them to get lots of assists. Have you tried Lavezzi as an advanced forward? He played well there for me as Napoli, when I had him partnered with Quagiliarella. It's also the role I find lone strikers best suited to.

If you want to increase the passing percentage, use shouts like "retain possession", "pass to feet" and "take a breather".

  7. Scott, you've done well to keep up the quality for so long, especially in a debut story!

This is a very nice read, and I hope you keep working at it. Your characterisation is strong, and I haven't seen anybody write match reports as good as yours for some time.

  8. Yes. I did read that but I just don't understand anchor man and def mid role. 1 only has TTB on mixed, closing down a little more, that's the difference?

There is very little difference. DM can change to "support".

Team "X" has a long pitch, this equals defending higher up. Scout says .....It is advised to deep. Which is the correct way forward, please?

It depends on the speed of your defenders. If they are quick, have them push up and restrict the opposition. If they are slow, have them sit deep, as then they'll be less vulnerable to players getting in behind on the counter.

However, remember that the differences in pitch size are tiny, especially at the top level. Five metres is very little compared to park football, where you could have a 50m variation. It's almost worth ignoring pitch size when you set your defensive line.

  9. Is there a guide to the tactics 'lingo' anywhere in the forum? I dont quite understand what it means when the numbers are supposed to represent 'clicks' on a certain instruction slider.

for example would 'Mentality - 10' equal 10 clicks from the far left or the middle of a slider?

Or, are thay all just relative to each other, for example, if you had one player who should be 'Mentality - 10' and another who was 'Mentality - 6' then would they just be 4 clicks apart relative to each other, but the actual positions on the slider are relative to your tactics?

I hope that makes sense! Im just trying to get into the more in depth tactics creating & tweaking so would like to be able to understand the threads!

    Thanks

    They are absolute, not relative.

However, you don't necessarily need to be precise with your placements. You can put the slider anywhere in the "area" in see the same effect.

Is there a chart that details what attributes are important for what position?

A lot of it is personal opinion. For example, it's generally thought that tackling is crucial for a centre back, but I know of one user who doesn't mind if his centre backs can't tackle, because they don't need to tackle in his system.

Do you want your central midfielders to be pacy? Do you want your full backs to get forward and whip in crosses? Do you need your centre backs to be good at shooting as they'll be cutting inside?

If you are using the TC, it's done for you with the highlighting. If not, think of what you want the player to do, or what skills you'd like him to possess, and then look for attributes that go with your expectations and desires.

  10. thawley- injury to a key player? A poor team talk selection? Players becoming upset about something in the media? An unavoidable defeat (against Crewe) or a tactical mistake? All those things could lead to a drop off in morale, motivation, form, etc. That could start a dangerous spiral.

My suggestion? Find a player who's not in great form. The better he is, the more success you'll have. Tell him he's below par, or your disappointed in him, whichever is more fitting. At the same time, if you have any players in good form, praise them. You should fire up two men by doing this, which will give you a much better chance in your next match.

  11. Crouchaldinho's threads tend to focus on widely applicable tactic principles, and the basics of how to build a formation and tactical set up. Crouchy mostly plays in the lower leagues, so his threads tend to be tailored that way.
