WE ARE BACK! ...THE MADDEST AND BADDEST FIRM ON THE NET!...THE SCOTTISH CLAN!... THE ORIGINAL AND STILL THE BEST...WHA'S LIKE US DAMN FEW AND THER AW DEED...!

*gets the bagpipes oot and starts the screeching*

Ohhhhhhh Champers of Scotland....When will we see......The Clan that played CM3.....Return again?...And Fight and die for....A netgame in CM4!

Champers of Scotland, I can see a whole forum of my countrymen gathered here today, waiting to play Champo as free men. Free men you are and Champo u will play. What would you do without the freedom to play Champo? Lying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing, to trade this day to the next, for one chance, just one chance to lock horns on-line and battle in Champo once again? For we might be a bunch of sweaty socks and Jock bawbags......but yell never take oor.........FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!

Ya Dancer! at last CM4 is upon us, and yes you guessed it the Scottish Clan are ready to embark on another long term Scottish netgame. This is to be our 3rd major netgame, in as many years, and for most, it is a fresh start in CM4, and an exciting new challenge. The truth is no one really knows what playing CM4 is gonna be like in the long term on-line. So we are open minded, yet bullish about getting a quality long term game going, that will be both fun and challenging. Lessons have been learned from past experiences, and we are confident, any new Scottish game will be as good as before. Many players have come and gone in the Clan over the years, but it was generally felt a mixture of old hardcore veterans and fresh meat would breath life back into the clan and get the banter and community going again. Planning for this game has been in progress for a while now, as has the never ending search for fresh talent who can cut the mustard with the Scottish firm. There was a test game played last month to asses some new gaffers for the clan. The test game was great fun, and was played in good spirit. Some gaffers were unreliable but on the whole, most the guys involved proved themselves worthy, and from that, will form the basis of the new game with the older heads from previous Clan games.

The Scottish Champers who have accepted this challenge have all proved themselves on-line, and for us it works well at a local level. Most the guys I either know or have met and have nothing to prove. Finding hardcore players who are trustworthy, reliable and mature is very difficult. But I am confident we have a right blend for some banter. As we are all fans of Scottish Fitba it would only seem right to play and base our new CM4 game in Scotland. The game would start at grass roots level in division 3 and the 10 clubs would all have a human gaffer for the big kick off. Starting at the bottom and working up to the SPL and beyond is the aim. With 4 compact leagues, there is derbies every game, and promotion and relegation battles a plenty. The Scottish leagues provide an ideal on-line experience for human interaction. There are 3 cups to play for, the Scottish and League Cups and the Challenge Cup for LLM. Gaffers are free to move to bigger clubs and have a caraer, so who knows where there LLM adventure will take them in the long term. It is generally felt that the 'Old Firm' are too powerfull so they are off limits in this challenge. Getting Scottish teams into Europe and smashing the Old Firms grip in the SPL, would be the ultimate aim! Re writing the Scottish football history books forever...........

CLAN GAFFERS WHO HAVE ACCEPTED THIS CHALLENGE & THEIR CLUBS ARE

RULES FOR CHALLENGE

As a Manager in the Scottish Clan net game you will expect to adhere to the following rules. These are compulsory!

1. This game will be played on Mondays and Thursdays period. The start time will be 8pm and finish time will be 12pm. The server will be up earlier from aprrox 7pm and left up later to approx 1AM for T&T sessions, shortlisting , sorting scouting etc. So get on early if ye need to find a player or have to re do a tactic. As a member of the group you will be expected to attend these sessions. If you can’t attent for any reason, you must give notice to the Clan I/C and host Ross Turpie , no less than 1hour prior to the start of session. Missing a session or joining late is ok, we all have busy lives, just let us know and be honest. Any deviation from gaming times or nights, for what ever reason, will be emailed to everyone and posted on the clan thread the previous night. In this netgame players must use there real name ( not nicks - keep this for the thread and IRC) ie Ross Turpie with caps in 1st letter, put their true age in, and favourite team if they want. No Passwords are to be used at any time.

2. The Scottish Clan thread is the lifeline behind the actual game, and this must be supported by each individual manager. It is compulsory for each manager to write at least one post after each session. (It doesn’t have to be an essay, even though most managers are creative with their own notes, just a few lines to show your involvement within the game, so non Clan champers or fans of the Clan get a flavour of how things are going) Its best Managers take notes and grabs of all their dealings or even write in word as the session unfolds. Gameplay in CM4 is slower so you will no doubt have a spare 5 mins here and there for this purpose. This rule will be strictly policed! In previous games some people never made the effort and this was disapointing, but this new game will hopefully have many talking points and much to report, so keep all yer teams coming's and goings updated for fans of the clan to read in the forum. The deadline for individual posting is to have it done by the start of the next session. The thread is important to the Scottish Clan. If the present managers feel that they cannot put ten minutes aside to post some banter/update, there is presently a waiting list of sourced gamers wanting to join. There will be a one warning and you’re out policy regarding this.

3. IRC or Internet relay chat, is to be run at all times during the clan session, the clan IRC is on quakenet (The euro one) and the channel or room# is cm.scots. Anyone not familiar with IRC or Internet relay chat can download mirc at <www.mirc.com> its free. Communication is paramount to enable the smooth running of the game. If the Host requests something, this must be done immediately. Unfortunately crashes do happen during a network game, although these are not frequent. If all managers can play CM in windowed mode and get used to keeping one eye on IRC as well, we should have few problems. Due to IRC there will be no need for in game chat!! As this needs everyone in to work. best keep the banter oot the game and in the IRC and thread.

4. Keep in game banter and rivalries within the thread and IRC. Also remember that you are now an ambassador for the Scots Clan, any bad behavior on any other forum not only makes you look like a twat but reflects badly on the Scottish Clan. The Scots Clan has gone a long way to get itself established as one of the top recognized clan games. We don’t need this good work undone by thoughtless posts typed by our own members. We do need rivalries to develop in the clan however so dont be scared to call a rival a ****ing ******, all's fair in war and war as they say!

5. No rolling contracts are to be used when negotiating transfers. Any other contract is ok till the end of the season or 6 months etc. To play the game in the best possible spirit, 1 year contracts are generally regarded as the best minimum option, but this is entirely up to the managers own descretion.

6. When buying a player, if anyone wishes to include clauses. The total amount of cash in the clauses cannot exceed the base cash offer. Also the number cannot be greater than 10 when negotiating appearances.E.G If player offers 500k cash this is his base offer. He can add clauses so they can amount to but not exceed this figure. I.e. 500k + 500k after 1/10 league or international appearances. To sum this up - WHEN BUYING No 20/30/40/50 league app/cap clause.

And Total Clauses cannot exceed the cash offer.

7. When selling a player, if one wishes to include clauses. The total amount of cash in the clauses cannot exceed the cash offer received. Also the number cannot be less than 10 when negotiating appearances. Also the number cannot be less than 10 when negotiating appearances.E.G If player receives a 500k cash bid and wishes to negotiate using clauses. He can request cash clauses amounting up to but not exceeding the base cash bid. I.E 500K + 500K AFTER 10/20/30/40/50 league app/international appearances. To sum this up ----WHEN SELLING, No 1 cap or 1 appearance. And total clauses cannot exceed the initial cash offer(Note this will stop the 0 + X amount after 1 cap sales)

8. Games must be played on FAST and KEY highlights only (unless its a major cup final i.e Scottish Cup, Eufa, or CL) Players are allowed to view others games as long as they are aware of commands in IRC and do not hold the game up in anyway.

9. No illegal bids for players to stop the AI or another human manager getting a player. I.E - bidding 10m to stop a player going elsewhere when you don’t have the money. This also includes rival teams players when their gaffer is on holiday, or not present in the game for what ever reason. You are free to bid and make any offers/ contracts to rival teams players, assuming the human gaffer is there to either knock back or match accordingly. In short, when other human gaffers are not in the game dont **** with there teams!

10. No International manager jobs allowed!

11. No Slow Play! As if its gonna be fast! its longterm so there is no hurry, any gaffer who is continually slow will be forced on hols!Or in extreme exceptions asked to retire from the game.

12. Managers are free to apply for any Scottish Club available, out with the 'old Firm'. In the event of anyone winning a European trophy then the Alex Ferguson clause can be activated, and any top English Club applied for. This option will be a long time coming, but is a viable option for any gaffer who simply outgrows the Clan or Scottish football in general. I must point out we are a Scottish Clan however and keeping the game Scottish is the aim, with no fragmentation to other leagues. If anyone does win the CL with East Fife for example, why not simply start at the bottom again, and take over another llm team, or one of the bigger teams that have been beaten up by our top gaffers back to formal glory!

13. No managers can go Old Firm! They are too rich and powerfull, it is there demise thats is the aim!

14. If sacked managers can either wait for a new club or knock the lowest div 3 team and take the ll penalty after their name! This is asuming there is a team available and you there is not a reserve list for eager gaffers in place. Basically dont get sacked1 if ye get sacked yer no really good enough to play and some one else deserves a chance to show what they can do. Competition for Clan places is high so dont make a **** of it lads.

15. All managers have a laugh and get tore into each other! We play for fun and although it all looks serious, the reason we play on line is to pit yer wits against other human managers! We have had some good laughs and community things going in the past, its whats playing on-line is all about.

These rules will be strictly policed, any player caught “cheating†may forfeit his place within the clan. A jury will be set up by the clan to dish out any punishment necessary. With regards to abusing the rolling contract rule or clauses. Any player signed that was deemed ‘illegal’ under the new clan rules will be automatically given a free transfer or in extreme cases go before the Clan kangaroo court! We all make mistakes however and human error can happen, but just be carefull when dealing with the financial side of the game.

Good luck guys in your new 3rd Division LLM adventures, remember you are playin for pride, and the Clan honour! I have few reserve gaffers waiting in advance for thie oppertunity to join the game should we have any vacancies or problems so you have been warned! New players may still apply but to my self directly, not on this thread. Keep your club info and results updated on the thread and lets do the old firm once and for all and re - write scottish football for ever! oh and dont get SACKED!

Black & Whites appoint Arthur as manager

Elgin City have appointed rookie Martin Arthur as manager.

At a press conference today the board stated they want the young manager, dubbed “SleazyBoy†because of his playing career, to rebuilt the squad for future success. £9k on transfer funds will be given to achieve this. In reply, Arthur sniggered at the comments, “I hope this is a good stepping stone for me personally. Hopefully in a few years I will have more like £9M at my disposal.â€

After speaking with his players, Arthur revealed he will be looking to add to all areas before the start of the season. He said, “I’ve had a word with all the players and informed them that no-one is safe.†“If I could really manage it, I would have all the players either released or sold if possible then flood the team with second string players from abroad!â€

Meanwhile, the Elgin City fans seem happy with the appointment. Fans spokesman Simon Titwell said “While Arthur is young with no previous coaching experience, the fans feel his name can bring players with real calibre to the club.â€

Arthur is one of a minority of Scottish managers tipped for big things. Time will tell.

Stirling to be centre of Shaw's Sexy Soccer Revolution

The Bino's took the bold step of appointing Alasdair Shaw as manager for their forthcoming campaign. Shaw, no stranger to the lower leagues, has already shown his quality after taking Albion Rovers to the top half of table last season.

The new manager appeared unsure about tactics or incoming players, but quickly moved to quash any rumours that he would throw any cup games against Partick Thistle. He also denied that he'd be using any influence in the Department of Imigration to aid his cause.

No Stirling players were available for comment, however there have been suggestions that Shaw's pre-match friday night's of the tried and tested pub 'n' kebab routine have found favour with the squad.

Finally, when asked how he thought the new season would pan out, Shaw replied; "The revolution beings here comrad."

Toner stated "It was a honour to manage one of Scotland's oldest clubs and echo'd the boards feeling, however he always stated that this season will about re-building and not looking to going straight up he concured that mid-table would be more realistic but this is football and anything can happen."

Alasdair Shaw's Programme Notes. Monday 12th May.

Dear Supporter,

Hello and welcome to a brand new season. This is my first at the helm of The Bino's and the players and I are all looking forward to making you proud.

The preseason has seen the usual scramble for players by all the clubs in the league. Fortunatly, my little black book has been put to good use and we have secured the services of some key players. Former Rangers defenders Gordan Petric and Stephen Wright will add some much needed backbone to the side, while Neil Ruddock, Andy Morrison and Karl Ready bring a host of experiance from a higher level. David Moss, Stephen McAnespie and Issac English join our ever growing community of ex-Partick Thistle players and are welcome additions to the squad. A major coup was also secured with the signing of young Chris Holloway, who declined a move to Premiership side Birmingham in favour of us.

Those of you who are familiar with my time at Albion Rovers, will again see how I am continuing to build an experianced side, full of medal winning players. With this squad, I am confident we can achive a successful season.

Sadly, one or two players will not be pulling on the famous red 'n' white jerseys as Mark Bosnich and Rolando Fonseca have both failed to agree terms with us. Robert Dunn has moved on East Stirling, while Allan Moore has announced that he'll be hanging up his boots soon. We wish these players the best of luck in their respective futures.

Our preseason games were dissapointing, including a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Kirkintiloch Rob Roy. Rest assured that I have spoken to my new assistant Dennis McDaid about these games and we both agree on the new way forward for the club.

Despite a short game crash, we are making excellent preperation for the new season. The board have asked me to secure a midtable position, but the players and I are looking to aim higher. I forsee some challenging games ahead, especially against the bookmaker's favourites Montrose and Morton. However at odds of 6-4, I wouldnt discourage fans from sticking a fiver on us to grab promotion icon_wink.gif Roll on Thursday...

Enjoy the game,

Alasdair

##### NEWS FLASH..... THE MIGHTY SHIRE APPOINT NEW MANAGER! #####

East Stirling Press Conference @ The Mill Inn Pub, near Firs Park, Falkirk.

East StirlingShire FC is a club where legends are born. Thirty years ago Sir Alex Ferguson took his first steps into football management at East Stirling, and not since then, has the Shire's Black & White Army had anything to sing about. Although Sir Alex Ferguson spent a mere 4 months at Firs Park in 1974, the club has been starved of success, while the great man himself has gone on to legendry status. With the sudden departure of manager Hugh McCann and Danny Diver before him, the Shire board were desperate to unearth some real Scottish talent like 30 years earlier. One man was in the frame, he knew his champo all right and had thousands of hours experience behind him. His managerial style reflected Fergie's, a stong disciplinarian and thoughtfull tactician. A driven man who knew what he wanted, sticking to his plans and always prepared to wait. and let things mature. Shire's new gaffer had been known to have a ferocious temper, driving everyone around him very hard, Total commitment was expected nothing less. Players knew he would stand by them, that they would never be ridiculed in public, they would be defended to the last. Above all he had time-honored qualities, often derided in this shiny, new age. The Mill Inn Pub was getting busy now as some old men with rolled fags filled their bellies full of beer. The hacks eagerly waited in the smoked filled room as the press release was handed out...

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>The board of directors of East StirlingShire FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Ross Turpie as new Manager. This appointment has been made largely due to the impecabble record that he has displayed, in playing the Championship Manager Series over the last few years. In particualr his winning of 10 in a row with Kilmarnock FC and his back to back Champions League Wins by 2005 strongly indicated to all of us, his talent and ability in football management. Unfortunaltely the club is in severe financial trouble and transfer funds as with money for wages will be non existant. However we believe, that Turpie will get the best out of our current squad and build a team for the future, while maintaining a descent standing in the Scots 3rd division. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Jim Traynor Daily Ranger "So what are your initial thoughts on the state of affairs at Firs Park Ross"?

Turps "Well Jimbo, the squad and wages are without doubt the poorest in the whole division. Appart from Kevin McCann evryone is on a tenner a week, and there is no money to bring anyone in, So we will just have to work with what we have got".

Ally Guthrie Daily Star "Tell me Ross what are your realistic ambitions for East Stirling Football Club in the coming years"?

Turps "To win promotion within 3 years Guth, and build a dynamic young squad that will mature and compete at a higher level".

Roger Bailey Sun "What have been your first impression of the standard in the lower echelons of Scottish Football Ross"?

Turps "Well its grass roots football and low league management Rog, but ye gotta start somewhere, the players in division 3 may lack technical abilty but more than make up for it with sheer guts and determination. Also the Romance of the Cups and weekly derbies are very mouthwatering prospect".

Gary Ralston Express "Do you realistically think you can win the league or gain promotion in yer first season Ross"?

Turps "No Gaz, Morton have by far the best squad, and Stirling and Montrose will be in contention also, we just want to do well against the teams round about us. Teams like Gretna Peterhead and Elgin, they have the same problems we have".

Chick Young BBC "So Ross how good are you at Champoinship Manager buisness"?

Turps "Ho Ho Ho Chicko! we are about to find out...hehe".

The Black Whites - Southern Version

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> In what seemed like a revolving door with regards to announcing the new manager of Scotland's newest league team, Gretna finally announced the ex Dunfermline, Hibs & Sunderland Scottish Clan veteran Jim Hastie. Ironically for a town famous for it's weddings the new manager is very much a single man. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

The new manager when asked of his chances advised the expectant audience that Gretna would have a huge task in a highly competitive league. With only 2 loan signings so far it looks like a long and hard season ahead and already 8 players have announced their retirement at the end of the season. We have a small amount of cash but sadly icon_frown.gif nobody worth signing wants to join.

We resume on Thursday and it will be interesting to see how this new age in Scottish football pans out.

Well we finally got our clan game started last night after months of agony, waiting for these damn updates. The fact the game was released so early has been well documented., but will CM4 and EP3 stand up to the rigours of a demanding large longterm netgame? I hope so!EP3 has certainly added some much needed realism to the scots lower leagues which although frustrating due to lack of foreign signings, has been refreshing. Starting new netgames is a total pain, but demands patiance and tolerance form all the participants. The expected transfer frenzy for free's and staff is always a lottery if not time consuming The start is critical never the less, if ye want to do well and make an impact. The server was smooth up until some freezing problems later on, but this was rectified with a reboot. Some players may have crashed when they were forced continued, who knows, but for now the jury on playing CM4 on line is still out. After a few seasons the concensous may have changed. However the Scots Clan are determined to make it work and hopefully this early beginning can be enjoyable for everyone involved and evolve into a quality netgame like previous projects we have embarked upon.

So what about my club? Well East Stirling was the last team left when the teams Were carved up. As i am host thats fair enough and a good challenge . East Stirling are much the same as Gretna, Elgin and Peterhead offer little Quality with no finances. Starting at the bottom has its plus points, as expectations should be lower and job security intact. I truly believe there will be managerial casualties, especially if the divisions so called 'bigger' teams fail in promotion. No one expects the Shire to do anything, so the pressure is off for now. The fact wages are low means playes can be released easier and their wages are not such a burden on the club. East Stirling's finances are a total joke. Every player is on £10 a week and the highest wage I can offer is £170. The biggest laugh is my Assistant Alex Cleland who is on a whopping £10000 a week! An exuberant ammount at any level, more laughable as his stats are worse than rank! I tried to release him but its gonna cost £1.5 million! So heez here till 2005! Thanks Milne and the ES researcher yer a couple of bawbags the pair of yez! Pre- Season went reasonably well. An intensive cariovascular training regime was devised to get the young squad fit asap which worked. And 8 friendlies were played resulting in 5 wins 1 draw and 2 losses. The bookies however are not so bullish and expect the Shire to be scrapping doon the bottom!

On a more Bullish note the Staff brought in are in my opinion the best in the division. Ray Clemance the English National GK coach joined as assistant to fill Alex Clelands soon to be vacant boots. German Stalwart Guido Buchwald took a coaching position as did Englishman Rob Jones, Dane Denis Holmark and auld arab linchpin John Holt. I believe coaches are critical in champo and they will get the best out the kids i have, as no new faces look to be joining in the short term. The current squad lacks experience, which in my opinion is vital at this level, so the hunt for some older pro's is on going. A few players did actually furfill their dream to play for the Mighty Shire! Robert Dunn was signed as one of Ally Shaws sloppy cast offs ( I never thought i'd see the day). Two players joined on free transfers also. Youngster Alex Martin an old scots llm favourite is a powrefull striker who would add an ariel threat in attack. And young influential central Defender Mark Slater released form Dundee, a player who in previous champo series had fantastic potential. On a pleasing note some 'Old Firm' starlets agreed some end of season loan deals. Celtic's Jamie Smith and Liam Miller would bolster the Shire in midfield and up front Rangers starlet Scott McLean would hopefully realise his potential by scoring some much needed goals. Finaly, amazingly a scout was signed and a belter at that. Dave Colley agreed terms and would start the hunt for players to join the Mighty Shire! That is if Ally Shaw aka 'brownshoes' the Stirling gaffer leaves any left for the others the greedy ****!

Fifers appoint Janitor!

Having witnessed all their fellow 3rd divison clubs sack their managers and hire unproven bosses East Fife chairmen George Dow decided to jump on the bandwagon in bizarre style and hire local janny Chris Nicol. A nervous Dow told fans "East Fife need quite some fixing and that is exactly what Nicol is good at". Bookies have now cut East Fife's odds from 9-4 all the way to 16-1 rank outsiders and believe 9th would be a acheivment. Nicol was unavailable for comment as he had to go and buy some clothes other than denim.

In his first ever interview East Fife Manager/Janitor Chris Nicol lifts the lid on his feelings at becoming East Fife manager, his aspirations at the club and describes his squad.

CN : I was as shocked as most people to discover I had been offered the post as manager ah mean me a manager who'd have thought it <proud smile>. The chairmen obviously thinks I can do a job and I will do my very best to prove him right. I've had a good reaction from the players which shows in the unbeaten start i've had in friendlies which includes a very promising 4-2 win against first division Clyde.

CN : I have no idea how we will do this season, most of the clubs ahve been very active in the transfer market and we until we have played them all it would be a total guess if I were to tell you where we will finish.

CN : I have brought in a lot of football brains to help me run the side behind the scenes and they are all great guys. I'd like to thank Andy Gould, Paul Edwards, Ian Campbell, Andrew Davidson, Graeme Bennett and Fraser Wishart.

CN : But even I know its the players that the fans want to know about and i'm pleased to announce that Gary MacMillan, Allan Batchelor, Christopher Edwards, Christopher Conway and Scott Bannerman have all joined the club on permanent deals as well as Kevin Rutkiewicz who has joined on loan from Aberdeen for the season and the player that will entertain the fans for his six month duration West Ham's Richard Garcia. With these guys i'm sure there will be some great competition for places amongst the squad and I can't wait for the start of this exciting season.

Brief History of Peterhead Fc aka "the Blue Toon"

The concept of Peterhead Football Club was originally formed in the heads of a group of enthusiastic football fans in 1890, with these men forming the first committee of the Club.

Football had been played in the town as far back as the 1870's, but these men had decided it was time for a proper team, playing to the rules set down by the SFA. Within a year, the dream of these men was realised thanks to Feuars Managers who allowed Peterhead FC some land within the town's Raemoss Park. Named Recreation Park, it was opened by Andrew Carnegie in August of 1891.

After years of Highland league obscurity, Peterhead, along with Elgin City, joined the ranks of the SFL at the start of the 2000/2001 season to replace one of the two extra teams lost to the restructured SPL.

Now after two fairly successful seasons in the Scots 3rd, chairman Roger Taylor has decided to inject some fresh air into the club out goes manager ian stewart and in comes .......

Alex who????

Well that was the general census shared by the brave dozen who braved chilly Monday morning air at Balmoor Stadium.

Alex Holligan thats who, yesterday a prison officer today the new manager of Peterhead Fc.

The official story goes that Peterhead who financially are not a big club could not afford a big time manager, applicants were to be invited form locals who had posessed good man management skills and a knowledge of football.

Alex holligan who for 3 years had run the local Peterhead Primary School Football Association was the only applicant. So was deemed the man for the job.

Unofficially rumours dictates that Alex Holligan on leaving night shift from the local Peterhead nick was involved in a head on smash with a very drunk Roger taylor. Forced to retired on medical grounds due to losing a nail on his left pinky Alex holligan was offered the Peterhead job as some form of compensation for a career loss and to to avoid pressing charges against the Peterhead chairman.

Well Peterhead have a below par team, relying heavily on an expierenced defense, A few free transfers have been brought in to try and appease the shocking bookies odds afforded to the club. 6-4 on for the title. The bookie must of been drunk coming up with those odds.

Anyway a few frees were attracted, the big name signing and the new son of god to the peterhead faithful, flair winger Craig Strachan. The ex coventry player has been a major capture for the norht east club and could earn free kippers for life if he succeeds in spearheading the Peterhead promotion charge!!

Really looking forward to the start on thursday. Aslong as Rosco doesnt force anyone else to continue so he can pinch their players there will be no more players drops.

See Jim i told you it wasnt your doing icon_razz.gif

Alasdair Shaw’s Programme Note. Thursday 15th May.

Dear Supporters,

The moment we’ve been waiting for has arrived and the new Scottish 3rd Division campaign is upon us. Putting our preseason defeats firmly behind us, we kicked off the season with a game against my former employers, the visiting Albion Rovers.

My good friend and fellow Jags supporter Steven McGuinness is now in charge of the Rovers, but unfortunately was absent from the match due to other commitments. As I expected, the fans (over 1,600 – the biggest in the league) at Forthbank were superb, and it didn’t take long before the players were fired into action; Whitmarsh scoring our, and the league’s, first goal; 14 minutes into the new season. However the Rovers battled back, nicking an equaliser before Mallan restored our advantage, only for the visitors to score again. Fortunately a moment of madness from their keeper allowed Issac English to fire home from 35 yards to give us a winner.

The three points get us off to a good start, but also pointed out some important lessons which must be learned if out season is to have success. The middle of the park is an area which is a concern, as we’re only playing three midfielders. This is simply due to a lack of depth for that position, something that the club are working hard to address. This is partly due to our lack of aerial presence also, which is again something we’re looking at. The most important lesson is that we need to kill teams off. I know it’s a footballing cliché, but we let Albion Rovers get back into the game when we could have put the nails in their coffin. Points could be dropped if this isn’t something we concentrate on.

Fortunately, we had improved upon the latter point in time for our Challenge Cup match against Falkirk. To be honest I thought this would be a very difficult match, but treated it as normal, taking the game to the opposition. Much to my delight, this was the right way to approach the game as Karl Ready bagged his first goal for the club in the 14th minute. We entered the dressing room at half time a goal up and deservedly so. Things got even better when Nicholas added a second, before cooly rounding the keeper to grab a third. Remember me saying how important it was to kill teams off? Job done. It really was a fantastic victory over top quality opposition. The whole team was brilliant, but I’d single out Gordon Petric for special praise, as he did a superb job in coping with some very skilful Falkirk attackers.

Any manager will tell you that he wants his side to score more goals, but with six in two games, I felt confident that things were going well in the attacking department. Defence has also been a plus point, but I’m sure we’re all delighted to welcome young Iain Turner back to the club as he’s signed a loan contract from Everton until the end of the season. Iain will go straight into the squad for our next match against Elgin.

We made the long journey north drunk and early, well aware that this was a potential banana skin. I was therefore delighted to go in at half time two goals up, after Philip Scott smashed home a screamer from edge of the box into top corner. Mallan then added a second by beating the offside trap and finishing. The experienced striker then scored a third, to once again put the game beyond doubt. This was lucky for Issac English; whose penalty miss didn’t matter too much, especially as Whitmarsh made it four before the end. I was also happy that Iain Turner kept a clean sheet on his first game back. Sadly, Nicholas hobbled off with a sore shoulder, but there doesn’t appear to be any lasting damage and I also felt that they were lucky not to have a man sent off as Chris Holloway told me that Subiat had a wee kick at him when the ref wasn’t looking.

I felt quite sorry for Martin Arthur as his defence really was all over the place a times and I wasn’t surprised to receive a phone call from him on Monday morning enquiring about the services of Mark McNally. However I was shocked by his offer of £500k after ten international appearances. Surely Martin was having a joke? Indeed, an acceptable offer soon followed, but Mark appeared reluctant to agree terms with Elgin. Perhaps something can be done about finding him a new club in the near future.

A short game crash postponed our Challenge Cup 2nd round tie against Clyde, but with ten goals in three games and our convincing win over Falkirk under our belt, I felt confident that we could cause another upset.

We got off to a bad start, falling behind to an early goal from Paul Shields. To be honest Nicholas had a couple of decent chances to equalise for us and I was raging when some dodgy defending let Coverny sneak in and grab a second for them.

However one thing I cant fault my players for is their effort and when Whitmarsh scored a screamer at the near post, I knew we’d get back into the game. Sure enough, Mallan found an equaliser to send us into a dreaded penalty shootout, something that we hadn’t prepared at all for. But our team just won’t lie down and die and we managed to squeeze past this problem to advance into the next round, another plumb game against St. Mirren.

Our last match away at Peterhead, a team in some good league form, ended in our first defeat of the season. An Alex Bone tap in gave them the lead and I was angry with Iain Turner for his positioning for it. He’s just a young man, but such errors could prove costly in the fullness of time. When Bone added a second I felt that we could have problems, but when Nicholas hit the post before scrambling in the rebound, I felt sure that we’d get at least a point. However Marrs scored a third for them giving Peterhead a win which flattered them in my opinion.

Our next game is a tricky cup match with St. Mirren, which I’m sure we’ll all be up for. I’ve been very pleased with the start of the season and hope that things will continue to go well.

Enjoy the game.

It has been a ok start for the new East Fife boss Chris Nicol as his team have a 100% home record, a terrific P1 W1. The away form on the other hand has not produced the sort of results required to challenge after a opening 1-0 defeat to Jim Hasties Gretna (one of the dullest games ever, despite Mr.Hastie clearly trying to liven it up by injuring as many poor unsuspecting East Fife players as possible) we followed it up with the 3-0 humping off Jeff Duke's clearly inferior Montrose side.

East Fife managed to get through to the 2nd round of the challenge cup after a simple first round opponent - nobody. When travelling to Peterhead for the 2nd round the lads managed to keep it tight at the back which we managed for 90 minutes. The strikers were getting no change out of Alex Hooligans one of a kind formation and as the Fifers tired Peterhead took advantage and cruised through 2-0. Yet another away match followed when the team travelled to favourites Morton. We intended to attack from the start which we did so needless to say we were gutted when Morton guiltily played on and took advantage of the linesman having fallen down a manhole to score what was a clearly fake goal. Despite feeling cheated Garcia manaaged to equalise before the midweek game took its toll and Pete Abrahams cheaters finished "3"-1 up. Up next was to be Gary Toner's Queens Park at home but this game had to be put back to Mondays session after Gary clearly sabotaged the game in an attempt to get more practise in before taking his inept side to the ground where no team has beaten Nicols famous East Fife.

Transfer wise Martin Lee and Christophe Grondin came in on loan for the season to bolster the midfield however these guys are not yet match fit and this was possibly to blame as well as the cheating for East Fife slipping up in a couple of games.

I look forward to Monday when we eventually get to proove to Queens that there was no point in spoiling the game for the others by embarrassing them with out silky soccer.

“Black & White Cityâ€

Welcome to Black & White City and welcome to a new season!

Black & White City is our new fanzine brought into production by new gaffer Martin Arthur.

First of all, we would like to welcome all the new staff to the club.

Paolo Baffoni has been brought in as our new assistant manager. The 53 year old Italian has vast experience and will be a great help to all the younger members in the City family. Along with Baffoni, Arthur has appointed new coaches in the face of Michael Lake, Adrian Burrows, Arnold Alberto Iguaran and former Spanish internationalist Kiko as reserve coach. Spencer Field, Matt Mullen and Ian John have also joined the scouting team and we hope then can find a few gems for the future!

Unfortunately for Arthur, we were unable to agree terms with many players during the pre-season. To counter this, Arthur brought in 3 loan players for the season. Trevor Benjamin joins us from Leicester City to head the stike force. 19 year old Finish winger Jussi Kujala joins from Dutch giants Ajax and Dundee Utd’s Hugh Davidson also comes in. All three were in the squad for the opening game away to league favourites Morton.

This was always going to be a very difficult match, and it proved even worse than that!

Half time at Cappilow and Elgin were down 3-0. Morton were simply too strong for an Elgin defence that would seem more at place in a circus. Luckily for them though, they managed to survive the second period of play without further embaressment while creating 3 chances for themselves. There didn’t seem many positive things to take from this game though.

After the dismal performance in the opening game of the season Arthur managed to bring in the first signing for the club - Nestor Subiat. Nestor signed from French non-league side Orange for 1k. A former internationalist with 15 caps and 5 goals with Switzerland, the 36 year-old will be a good asset for experience upfront alongside Benjamin.

Nestor was in the squad and set to make his debut in the 1st round of the challenge cup. We were tied away to highland rivals Ross County. After a friendly victory over the Dingwall side, Arthur felt quite confident his side were capable of an upset.

It was a dry Tuesday night with a decent 1500+ crowd to add an electric atmosphere.

The home fans were in good voice – until Trevor Benjamin capatalised on some confusion between the County centre-backs to steal through and open the scoring 5 minutes in and grab Elgin’s first goal of the season. The lead didn’t last very long though as Martin Wood struck for County 3 minutes later. County were getting the better of the game when they took the lead on the 30th minute thanks to a Steven McGarry near post header. We responded well to this and starting playing football ourselves. Good play in midfield sent Subiat running through on goal with just the goalie to beat for a debut goal. Subita rounded the keeper and slotted the ball coolly into the empty net to pull Elgin level 10 minutes before half-time. A 2-2 scoreline was more pleasing for Arthur after Ross County again stepped up the pressure and looked the better side. Before Arthur could get his players in for a half-time pep talk though, they were behind again. Hugh Robertson put his side 3-2 ahead in first half stoppage time. In the second half Ross County dominated play and created the better chances but it was Elgin that came closest to scoring when Subiat had a great chance 12 yards out with little over 15 minutes to go. Subiat though, blazed over the bar. With an early cup extra looming, Elgin pushed players forward in the dying minutes hoping for a late goal but it was County again that were to be celebrating. A second goal of the game for Martin Wood in 90 minutes secured the win and sent Elgin tumbling out at the first hurdle.

As disappointing it was to leave the cup so early, Arthur took well to both his strike partners scoring and looked forward to his first home game as manager. Before the league game against Stirling, Arthur was scouring the market looking for fresh faces to bring in. One player that caught the eye was 16 year-old Krasen Trifinov from Bulgaria. Krasen currently plays for Pavlikeni in his home country and is tipped for a great future. Arthur brought the young left winger across to try persuade him a move to Elgin could be a good move in the long run. Krasen was impressed with what he saw and agreed on a 2 year deal with the club. Trifinov’s application for a work permit is in progress and he should be with the team in the very near future.

Krasen would not like what he saw had he attended Elgin home opener against Stirling Albion. Again Elgin were simply overwhelmed by the opposition and went down to a heavy 4-0 defeat. Man of the match Philip Scott scored twice with Steve Mollan and Paul Whitmarsh getting the others. It could have been worse for Elgin but Isaac English blasted his 77th minute penalty past the post. The defence was in dire straights once again and needed changing.

After the Stirling match Arthur made a bit for Stirling’s in-limbo defender Mark McNally. A bid was accepted but Elgin and Mark could not agree terms which leaves Arthur still searching for a leading defence.

The Elgin side were off to Hampden next to play Queen’s Park. Looking for their first goal and win in the league Elgin got exactly that after Jon Otsemobor put through his own net in the 77th minute. The defence actually played very well all round to hang on for the 3 points and get moving up the table.

All in all a very slow start to the season so things can only get better!

EAST STIRLING TRILOGY part l

Well after last nights big opener its deffo 'Lord of the Brown Rings Time' for CM whizzurd and East Stirling gaffer TURPS! The evil forces of the Scottish 3rd division have Descended on the Mighty Shire! and Turps's merry band of East Stirling hobbits have a lot to improve if they are to compete in CM middle earth, thats for sure! The night started with some good news as young scottish right back Neil Adams agreed a staggering £50 a week (5 times more than average)! and ex jambo favourite Gilles Rousset joined as GK coach to add the last piece of the Shire's fantastic backroom staff. The playing staff on the other hand are struggling to cope with the pace and tempo of the Scottish 3rd division, as the squad mainly consists of youngsters with no experience. Loan signings Jamie 'smudger' Smith, Scott Mclean and Liam Miller have failed to make an impact and need time to settle. The Shire have had a difficult start and have yet to really settle into a particular system and formation, still at least we are not as bad as Jimbo and his greeting Gretna or Bod who has successfully managed to navigate the 'Wee Rovers' firmly to the bottom of the Scots 3rd league table.

Four games were played in total last night for East Stirling. The opener was a tough away fixture @ dogbreath's Bluetoon. The much hyped 'battle of Balmoor' saw Peterhead win 3-0 easily as the the unmighty Shire failed to make an impact and cope with Dogs unorthadox formation. Home game Next and Jim'boys' Greeting Gretna had a real shotgun wedding! as the Mighty Shire totally blasted them for a great 3-1 victory, and Shire's first 3 points of the Season. Away next to station Park to face Forfar in the Challenge Cup, and it was total carnage for Shire. Forar destroyed us 6-0 in what can only described as the most painfull CM experience in a long while, but gaffer Turps learnt a lot from that performance, despite loosing face. The Final game of last nights session was a visit to Duke's Trose. Amazingly Trose gaffer Duke was Awol for the occasion which may have helped the 'Gable Endies' no end. Montrose won comfortably 3-0 leaving Shire in 7th position in the league after the opening session. Will CM whizzurd Turps win the battle against the evil Forces of the Scottish 3rd division and steer the 'Mighty Shire' and his band of East Stirling merry hobbits to the top of CM Middle Earth? Well... we will find out in part 2 in the next clan session next monday night!

Greeting Gretna - A Night of Two Halves

The SD3 roadshow finally got on it's merry way last night and so the road to Mordor began.

The mighty (not) Gretna opened up with a home game against East Fife, a crowd of 1,501 were in attendance (750 couples and 1 lucky guy who was stood up at the alter icon_biggrin.gif) In a tight tense tussle, dirty as well. A goal on the stroke of half-time from Captain McQuilter was all that separated the teams and a winning start was much appreciated.

Gretna 1 East Fife 0

The ever wonderfull Challenge Cup was next and another home game this time against 2nd division Stranraer. A goal in the 21st minute from Fairbairn surprised everybody not least me. The 2nd half only brought one further goal and that was from the giantkilling Gretna scored by Skinner.

Gretna 2 Stranraer 0 This game appeared easier than I thought. icon_biggrin.gif

A trip to 'The Shire' was next and the fans wondered whether the run could continue. We opened the scoring with a nice wee move in the 14th minute only for the celebrations to be cut short by the Ref disallowing it as he had blown earlier icon_frown.gif. No explanation was given why it was ruled out (I blame the testers icon_wink.gif). This decision obviously knocked the stuffing out the lads as we lost 3 goals before a late consolation strike from Fairbairn.

The Shire 3 Gretna 1

We wrapped up the night with a 2nd Rnd Challenge Cup tie at Love Street against St Mirren. We lost an early goal but the lads pulled level through a McGowan og. That was the last of our celebrations as the Buddies controlled the rest of the game and our cup campaign was over. icon_frown.gif

St Mirren 3 Celtic 1

A night of two halves it may have been but I am definately a pint man icon_biggrin.gif.

Roll on Monday

PS: Any similarity between Turps and a Hobbit is purely coincidental. Hobbits are obviously far cuter and better looking. icon_razz.gif

Maisano "Peter" heads for the Peterhead team sheet

After a mediocre preseason, Abraham Decided to cut some costs and sell a few fringe players. John Maisano unfortunatly was deemed one of these players. The Player leaves behind his brother at Cappilow and will be sorely missed by his loyal fans. Abraham Stated "with the season length signing of Prunty and Llewellyn, John would only be wasted on the bench every week. It was best for him, and the clubs finances, that he moved on to Peterhead. We wish him all the best and look forward to him returning along with Peterhead.

The season got under way with a comfortable win against Elgin. Chris Llewellyn put in a fantastic shift and it should of been more than 3-0 at the end, if it wasn't for some good desplays by the Elgin defence in the second half. Abraham seemed happy with the result though All he He had to say/sing in the post match inmterview was "ONE WARREN HAWKE, THERES ONLY ONE WARREN HAWKE.......". Inquests have begun on his drink bottle.

Next was a Challenge Cup game against Raith Rovers, Peter had stated before the season started that Cup games would have to give way to the league this season, as rebuilding of the squad was the number one priority. However, after going down 0-2 to the Rovers, Morton came back to win 4-2.

After this game Oleg Salenko joined Gordon Durie and Peter Abraham as part of the managerial team.

A trip to Hampden fallowed. What looked to be a standard league game became possibly one of the most thrilling games of the season. Chris Llewellyn scored four in a 4_6. Peter abraham failed to turn up for the post match interview but a spokesman said the was in jubalant mood. The inquest continues.

Mid week bruaght another challenge cup game against St.Johnstone but after a hard fuaght game Morton went out on a 2-1 defeat

A difficult journey to East Fife fallowed. after some shroud signings from Fife this game was always going to be difficult. However Morton showed good form and ran out victors with a 1-3 win despite angry protests from the east Fife manager who insisted the first goal was off side. abraham's coments after the game was "IIII wuv ya, chick. Nooo, no you dont understand. I love yooo!"

The season continues on monday

Turps! Thinking of your situation in the clan game.

It not going to be long till your club is going to go bankrupt and you get the sack becuase of your mistake of signing Cleland as your Assistant. Thought that if everybody agreed, somebody could take a bigger club and sign cleland from you then resign from that club.

Everybody makes mistakes but we have to take in to consideration that your fae Bishopton and are subject to making mistakes of this magnatude.

What a splendid idea, only problem is i did not sign him some muppett ES researcher put him in the game, like the many schoolie errors in the scottish set up. And what if the 'big club' gives me £1.5 million compensation? I think there will be a few clan gaffers reaching for the Andrex. If my already ****ed finances are totally ruined and i become bankrupt due to this BUG! We will have to make a decision what to do when that happens, until then i will bravely battle on, with the rest of the skint managers in Scots div 3 thanks very much!

First off the Cleland situation is not a bug.

Cleland was not in the Shire database when we researching for EP3 so there was no way of me being able to change his wages. In fact Cleland only became assistant manager a couple of days before our deadline so it's a suprise that Stuart got him in at all. His wages are still set at what the Everton researcher gave him from his playing days.

Yes its a problem but it will be fixed. If you've got a problem with my research you know where the Scottish research team are so why did you not bring it up with me there instead of slagging me off on here?

Settle Down

This thread is about banter and a bit of fun, the egg is actually on Turps because he has this Member of staff on high wages if you read the thread you will see its him thats getting pelters.

Dont come on the thread giving it large as everything is said in jest, if you know this clan a bit better you might know this. As it is you obviously cant take a joke. We all know how daunting a task it is for a SI researcher to source every team accurately, we were not all born yesterday!

Hehe, I see the usual festivities have begun. I've just d/l'ed the 4.05 patch and I shall be evilly tinkering about and watching and waiting.

Who knows, if I ever manage to find those broken bits of glass and glue them all back together, there may be a triumphant return for the fabulous baking boy.

Happy festing, chaps.

Good luck with your game guys, ive read a lot about the banter of the Scots Clan, looks like its atarted off great.

Scotish footy is gret to watch, i was able to see Gretna's opening game of the season against Morton and what great banter there was at the game, mainly the mocking of one of the Maisano brothers.....the diving jesse!

Anyway...good luck and i look forward to reading all the stuff here in the thread.

You dont need to apologize Giro i'm thick skinned honstly. I am sorry I called you a bawbag and a 'schoolie muppett'. I am sure all the scottish research team have done a great job with limited resources and have done thier best in being as accurate and as up to date as possible with the data. We slag each other all the time on and off this thread. its all part of the banter! It is only a game after all. It was only natural you defended your ES research and you wore yer heart in yer sleeve when you gave it the large one on the clan thread, people respect that. Unfortunately the game does have some frustrating bugs and inaccuracies here on there, but any one that knows me or the scots clan know, we just play for fun, and are not ones to dwell or be down heartened no matter what gets thrown in our way. The offer to join in the future is still open when a vacancy arises. Perhaps you could take over the mighty Shire when i leave for the Falkirk job in the fore seeable future.... icon_wink.gif

We are black We are White, We Are Queens Park and We're Nae Bad!!!!!!

Welcome to the first in the hopefully many Fanzine coloums from yours truly Gary Toner.

When i took over as Queens Park manager i knew finances were going to be tight but despite the limitations i was pleased to bring in several players. Former Rangers youngster Steven McAdam was first in the door and he was quickly joined by Brendan Crozier,Artur Correra, David Poppleton, Stuart Gauley and 16 year old Justin Georgelin. Fans haven't been able to see David Poppleton in action yet due to recent injury problems but i'm confident he will be turning out in Queens Park colors soon. I was pleased to also clinch the signings of Jon Ostemobor and Steven Whittaker from Liverpool and Hibs respectivly albeit it on one season loans.

The opening game of the league season saw us travel to Montrose in what turned out to be a un-inspiring,dull,tediuos 0-0 draw. With few chances for either team it was a scoreline that suited both teams. Midweek saw us take on Clyde in the Challenge Cup 1st round it was our first home game of the season and we wanted to put on a good show, Sadly it wasn't to be as Clyde steamrolled us in the 2nd half to win the game by 3 goals to nil.

Back to league business and the visit of Morton to our beloved Hampden in what was described as the best match of the day by the tabloids unfortunatly from a Queens Park point of view it wasn't too good Goals from Steven McAdam and Artur Correra gave us a 2-0 lead at half time but 2 minutes after the re-start saw the turning point when Niel Moffatt had to come off injured goals were a plenty McAdam added his 2nd and debutant Justin Georcelin got our 4th but it was Morton how would go home happy as they ran out 6-4 winners in a thrilling match.

As we looked to bounce back Elgin were next to visit Hampden and to be fair we should have won the game but the luck wasn't with us and on the 77th minute Jon Ostemobor scored a Own Goal which rapped up the points for Elgin.

As we look to the next coloum i hope to bring you the fans some better news and hopefully news of our first win.
