I'm determined to keep cracking away at my Saints save on FM10 (now in 2024). I have a whole bunch of personal goals to reach (breaking certain records, getting a stadium named after me) which will likely see me playing for many decades to come, I hope!

Certainly, while I'm still enjoying it, I'll keep playing it!

Wijnand did you ever get as nearly as far with FM09 or 10?

no, if i reach 100 seasons in fm08, i give it a try with fm12 or maybe fm13

Sometimes i play with fm08, most of the time i play fm11

I recall messages (might be on the old forum) that Luan had reached 2200 with CM01/02 (and by reaching I mean playing, not holidaying)

im in season 10 on fm2007

managing millwall. going from league one into premier league. i won it for the first time in 2011. i play 4-3-3 with the point forward like the dutch national team.

i make use of a very extensive scouting system to scout the most promising youngsters, i buy the best of those every year and put them in a 3-5 year youth acadamy routine.

1 year tutoring to learn player prefered moves. 1-2 years on loan and 1-2 years integrating into the first squad. sofar that has produced for me the best left back in the world and a few other top class players. but the best gems are still in the making with a few very promising strikers and defenders still in the program.

i use heracles in the dutch league to send my best players to mature.

some other notable achievements: ajax is dominating the dutch league winning it everytime since 2006-2007. the game is now in 2015-1016. barcelona dominated the premeira division untill 2013 then got into a crisis but won again in 2015. they did lose about 200million euros on the balance. the english clubs are failing, except arsenal which has been a loyal runner up for about 4 years.

i have a squad rotation system of 11 1st team players and 11 to cover in each spot. every 4th game i let my 2nd squad play a game while the first squad rests.

i have about 500 million transfer budget because i buy all my players at a young age and sell them at their peak for millions. i also sell those i bought young but didnt make it into the squad at all for alot of money because they are considered first team players at most other clubs.

my top scorer is theo walcott which i bought for 24 million. the first season i played him as a right winger but that didnt work to well so i put him up front and now he is scoring between 40-50 goals every season. he is deadly infront of goal as a target man running onto the ball. worth: 50 million. but i wont sell him for less than 80. notable signings are gareth bale (turned into a real gem) for 8m. anderson on a free transfer, now worth 40m. and a couple of regens forming the best defense in the world.

and then one sin, i couldnt resist taking over barca in the transfer period and buying messi for 100m. barca was willing to sell before that but messi wasnt willing to come. so i cheated into getting him.

furthest i've got so far is 2074 on my other save, will return to that before the release of fm10 and complete 100 seasons. current save i'm only in 2015 and i'm looking to win all five champions leagues in one career.

What leagues need to be loaded to win all 5 champions leagues?

Have wanted to do this for a while, just never been too bothered to research the teams etc. :)

Any chance of any screen shots?

Would love to see some stats, and maybe some transfer screenies for the past couple of seasons

i managed a game with ajax and arsenal a bit longer but that was a while ago so no screenies. ajax built a stadium named after me, i called myself Johan Cruijff. 100.000 all seater!

My current save is my longest ever. Currently in season 2027/28 with Tonbridge Angels in the Premiership!

Think I'm in 2059 or something at the moment - over 3,100 games in charge.

Unfortunately I'm visiting my parents and forgot to bring my save with me :(

Who you playing as?

Newcastle, from day one.

I find it very hard to keep the motivation to play as anyone else and I've never moved clubs in an FM game and kept on playing.

Newcastle United iirc. He has a son. Who seems to be fairly good.

Edit: I was right.

How do people find the motivation to play for so long? What's the key. I often set about trying to acheive everything in a save. But if I get bored and don't play for a few days I rarely ever continue to play again. Or I'll see a team play and think I'll be them. When I do I can never get far :(. I get bored as well. If I've started one save and try starting a new one.

I hope it's a different Newcastle to Newcastle United.

Got to 2042 on FM2010. I like it when Regens begin to take over the game. Had my greatest ever team, career, and player on that game. Was Liverpool Spurs, West Ham, England, and then Liverpool again.

I reckon I'm about five to ten seasons away from have no real players left in the game.

There's still a few hanging around as managers in their sixties, but it can't be much longer.

Any made it into the hall of fame?

Wilson Palacios is behind only Alex Ferguson on my save.

Haven't looked. Will update when I get back home if I remember.

I know McEcheran should be there somewhere - he's the only player-cum-manager that I've actually noticed hanging around and being successful. He retired from the game in my last season after working at about 10 clubs (including Man U and Benfica, the only two I can remember off-hand) and England.

I got to (I think) 2014 in my Liverpool game in FM08. I remember that it was the year that Carra and Gerrard were past their peaks.

Probably would have kept going and not bothered with FM09 or 10, but it corrupted big time. :(

In FM10 I started when I was 30 (obviously) and by the time my save corrupted, I was 52, so 22 seasons, my career started at middlesbrough, then padova, then fulham, the porto, then man u then bayern then ac milan. and nope I didnt get sacked from any of of those :) I did however resign from boro and fulham before I was pushed, but I won nearly every big competition I was in, and I also won the world cup, euros and confed cup with england :) I was pretty annoyed when the save corrupted, though I have found traces of the game since :)

16 seasons, 8 as Aberdeen, 4 as Arsenal, 2 as Milwall. IRL it took about 2 years - this was on FM08 and as such I missed out on FM09 & FM10 completely! :)

Back when I played CM02/03 I had a run of 40-something seasons with Lazio, winning just about every trophy 10 times over. Then I got sacked after a paticlarly bad season, and took over as the Belgium national manager for another 5 seasons. Then my laptop died and I was unable to recover my saves... sadness :(

I think someone holidayed until well after the year 3000, there is a thread on here somewhere.

The longest I have managed is 2032-ish although I did get to 2027 on an older CM game.

I can't explain the first one, I think I just got a bit impatient and skipped a bit early on.

The second game is because I was moving clubs, I always holidayed in between.

I'm currently in November 2031 in what is my longest ever save (been playing maybe 5 or 6 months real time): http://i.imgur.com/JVobf.jpg

I've seen a couple reach 2100 and beyond though in the past. I hope with the new add/remove leagues feature on 2012 though I'll be able to play one save for the duration and get really, really far into the future.

Im in 2092 on FM10. Currenlty in my 2nd spell at Tottenham.

Started with Tottneham, then moved to Nottm Forest, Man Utd, Liverpool, Bolton, Coventry (only club who i failed to make a into the best team, also only team to sack me) and then back to Tottenham.

currently in the 2031/32 season on FM 08

Snap, but on FM11. I'm determined to get further and further into the game on each successive release.

I quite like it when the real players have all retired.

Don't know how people can do 100 seasons, thats insane!?? How long did they take?

I've been playing since CM96/97, in CM days I could do 10+ seasons, highest was 14 iirc for CM01/02 with Newcastle, my midfield of Ronaldinho-Dyer-Gerrard-J.Cole was pretty much unchanged the whole way through! But I get so bored once the real life players start retiring and the AI just can't compete once I get on top.

But yeah since FM05 I haven't gone past 5 seasons. Just find it boring after that.

I have a save in the year 2510 (FM11) from another thread/user although the person who done it has got to about 2910 but the file is too big to upload online.

I remember that thread, I think it was roversawh who did that. Took the game to 4835 or some stupid year before it began to crash.

EDIT: It was the same guy, but in a different thread to the one which I'm talking about.

ruined my best save by retiring once my manager was 75 as I felt it was realistic to retire at that age, ruined the game for me
