vandamme22
I have a very big problem with scoring. I played with liverpool a 4-4-2 at I cant score many goals, so that I lose or draw the most of the matches, especially at home against average teams, thats really frustrating. At home, I play a 4-4-2 attack, ball possession and so on. Away I play a 4-4-2 standard, really balanced mentality. This is the result: Fernando Torres: 36 Games 10 Goals and Robie Keane the same statistic. This is really strange. A few words to the settings of the strikers. Robie Keane is the striker defensive, his crossing from deep, not so play attack like torres. passing is short of both. After 32 games I was on the second place, 1 point behind chelsea. Now after 38 games I ve been fifth, I didnt win the last 5 games, because of the scoring problem, I create many chances but I cant score enough to win. And this was all the time so, against weaker teams. I ve also lost the champions league final. Its really frustrating. What can you recommend me? please give advices for the scoring problem. thx
grozavu07
Try the standard tactics. They only need a few tweaks
vandamme22
But at home I want to play aggressive and a attack style. What do you mean with a few tweaks, what is important? please give me some exactly advices.
grozavu07
Standard tactics are very good to start with There is the standard 442 attacking. The most important thing I change is mentality(so there is no gap)
vandamme22
but can you give me some settings for the strikers, I mean torres is a worldclass striker, but he scored to little goals. I startet with the 4-4-2 standard attacking, its useless.
grozavu07
You can take a look at this. It's pretty much standard with some changes:http://files.filefront.com/442+Man+Utd+May+2009tac.I used it in the last 20 games of the season(Beat L'pool 7-0 on agreggate in CL) Settings for striker that worked great for me: Both mixed FwR One advanced ST witha little higher mentality The other one with a free role and mix FwR
vandamme22
sorry, but the downloas link is not available, I call the site but no download option? but what about the passing and closing down setting, should I set for both strikers a short passing style? or when I play attack, the strikers must play direct style. It's a standard tactic if you take a look at mentality and Fullbacks fwr are mixed.I used it both home and away but with a gelled team and superb morale across the team

Arent you the opinion that this tactic is a little bit defensive for home games, only one player is setted attack. And did you score a lot of goals with this tactic? vandamme22
again here is my teaminstructions for home games: http://gallery.filefront.com/vandamme84//1145006/ Here is the setting for the forward (torres) who is been playing more attacking than the other fc: http://gallery.filefront.com/vandamme84//1145011/ and the other setting for the fc who is been playing like a forward def (r.keane): http://gallery.filefront.com/vandamme84//1145012/ And finally the result of the home games: http://gallery.filefront.com/vandamme84//1145010/ you will realise that I scored too little goals at the home games, despite I play a very attack style. Torres scored 10 goals in 36 games and robbie keane the same way. I hope you have now a better overview about the thing. thx
grozavu07
I'd lower Keane's mentality by 2-3 notches cause he's already on FwR mix Maybe even higher CF and a free role As for HUB,you should try without this option Another important aspect:what's possesion in your home games. If it's below 45%,then it's a problem IMO
Cesar Lucius
You could change the training and the coaches. I use 1 coach for each type of training and make sure that the coach has high stats and the right mentality for whatever I get him to coach in. I've done this for the past 3 Football Managers/Championship Managers and it works a treat. I create a training programme for each position (goalkeeper, defender, full back, midfield, attacking midfield, winger and striker) and make sure that they concentrate on relevant training. For strikers, for example, I make sure that they have intense shooting training and no defending, and high ball control, tactics, attacking and aerobic training. I also assign 1 coach to teach shooting, 1 to teach attacking etc. and make sure that the coaches only coach in that 1 area. I make sure that each attacking coach has an attacking mentality, high attack, technique and motivational statistics and isn't too low on discipline either (minumum of about 10/12 depending on how good they are). That should help.

I used it for 9.1.0 then updated to 9.2.0 but no big difference. I didn't make any tweaks because I was confident that I can't fail with a team like Man Utd(I am quite an expert in media management The next season I'll use a tactic set
