Crappy week for me :(

Nevermind. Will see some strategic voting from here on in

Very strategic. Can I remind you that tactical voting on the speeches is expressely discouraged?

Have received votes from JSalter, corinthiano, SCIAG, PaulHartman71, Benjaminoo and NepentheZ.

Writer’s Notes: Robert, I’m accepting your votes. You’re rather lucky I didn’t decide to the update before.

Primary 6

New York

The Wall Street Journal, 10th May 2008

The results from the Republican and Democrat delegates polled in New York are in, and California Governor Mikey Twigge has catapulted from last to first in the Republican polls, while Columbus Crew manager Jeremy American maintains a thinning lead amongst the Democrat placards.

It has been a very successful week for Mikey Twigge, the 37-year-old from San Francisco. Taking over a third of the votes from the Republican population of New York state, his only real competitor was the Governor of his neighbouring state Nevada, James Salter, whose San Jose Earthquakes team racked up 46 points, which puts him second in the Republican polls so far. Conservative Arizonan Giuseppe Rossi had a poor week, which drops him one place to 5th in the polls. Now he is only one point ahead of the Republican bottom-placed candidate, Magnus Vestergaard.

An impressive performance from Lucas Volman puts him second in the Democrat polls, but Jeremy American still holds the lead. Home candidate Benjamin Franklin also had an excellent week, unsurprisingly, and he makes up for the last primary’s poor result this week, with a result that puts him 3rd in the polls. NepentheZ had a poor primary, and it may come as no surprise that the Kansas Governor is now last in the polls.

The candidates next week travel to New England and, in a short space of time, cover Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. With such a high-pressure week next week, the two poll leaders must be glad of this opportunity to pick up point to allow for more breathing space next week.

The Republicans

NepentheZ Kansas City Wizards 6 x2 12 121

It looks like NepentheZ is separated by quite a few points at the foot of the Democrat table, while Giuseppe Rossi and Magnus Vestergaard aren’t faring too well in the Republican tallies. The only way to find out how they’ll ultimately do is to keep watching the American election primaries unfold!

Boston Herald, 11th May 2008

Massachusetts’s Presidential candidate Winston Walcott has been assassinated in a shock attack yesterday evening.

All of the candidates, except Lawrence Lazewski who complained of stomach cramps, were attending the New York Mets' game against the Chicago Cubs. Upon leaving Shea Stadium, Walcott was shot at from a sniper on a neighbouring building. He died at the scene.

In an incident that has sparked international outrage, incumbent President George W. Bush has made a televised address saying that the crime is ‘despicable’. Police are currently working on finding a suspect, but as of yet, no means or motive have been discovered for the crime.

Walcott was well-regarded as the “coolest” of the Presidential candidates, and following a PR stunt involving a disappearance in South Dakota, he was in second place after poll results from Michigan, undoubtedly a favourite. His family have been touched by the amount of concerned tendered to them: flowers and cards still flood their mail.

A two minutes silence is to be held by the Democrat party in a meeting tomorrow. Democrat poll leader Jeremy American alongside Robert Byrd is expected to make a short speech outlining Walcott’s virtues and loyalty to the Democrat cause, as well as to his family.

The shock is still settling, and the inhabitants of Massachusetts are still grieving for “the people’s candidate”. Walcott was born in Lowell in 1972 and has always been a Democrat supporter. The state and the nation will miss such a valued moral campaigner.

Primary 7

New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine

Montpelier Times, 12th May 2008

After the disgusting assassination of Massachusetts’s Governor Winston Walcott last week, the Race for the Whitehouse must continue. The Democrat party held a two-minute silence in Walcott’s honour, and his grieving family have released a press statement campaigning for apprehension of the murderer. Meanwhile, New York-based bank Lehman Brothers has supplied a $100,000 reward to anyone who provides evidence that brings about the conviction.

This week’s primaries are nowhere near as important as last week’s, in New York, however, the fact that there are three primaries in one week, titled so aptly by New England citizens as ‘Super Two-Days’, means that there will be a lot of high-octane action until the resolution on Thursday.

Little Clinton Jr., the Governor of Colorado, is widely-touted as the favourite to win the week’s primaries, and the Republican, who currently sits fourth in their polls, will be looking for a resounding victory.

On Wednesday, the candidates will commence in Montpelier, debating on the subject of Divorces and Child Custody (The Family). Following that, they move to Concord for an evening debate on the same subject. After a night’s stay in a Concord hotel, the candidates will move on to Augusta, where the final primary debates will be presented, along with the speech of Michigan Governor Robert Boyle.

With such a hectic schedule, no candidate wants to let any information slip. The Secret Service are overworked coping with three primaries and then charity events, one for each party’s candidates. As such, “possession” will be regarded as a key attribute of these states’ winning candidate, and both teams will be looking to keep the eye on the ball. Well, in fact, both teams will be looking to keep the ball.

Primary 7

New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine

Tomaldinho and Lucas Volman would be the first to debate in an all-Democrat affair. Volman had the better of the debate, and his ideas for bonuses for married couples was generally well-received, earning him a 58% share of the debate, with the Illinois Governor having to make do with the 42% that his pro-divorce speech had earned him.

Despite a 3-0 win over Magnus Vestergaard’s Real Salt Lake, Texas Governor Lawrence Lazewski couldn’t keep the ball as often as the scoreline suggests, and only managed a possession of 43%. Vestergaard, delighted at having escaped the debate with a 57% possession, had debated in favour of fathers who don’t get the chance to see their children.

With one third of the candidates having debated, the candidates hopped onto the two party buses and began the journey over to Concord. On the way, they stopped at a New England poultry farm to spend some time with the chickens and the traditional middle-class family. Colorado Governor Little Clinton Jr. fell so in love with the little fellows that he decided to ship one home to his house in Aspen.

Nevada Governor and manager of San Jose Earthquakes James Salter was next to debate, bringing with him a slideshow of children affected by their parents’ divorces. However, the shock tactic severely failed, and Salter walked away, head down low, with only a possession of 34%. Benjamin Franklin then followed and did much better, meriting himself a 54% possession rating. Kansas Governor NepentheZ was up next, looking to get himself a good result in order to climb back up amongst the other Democrats. He debated fairly well, and got a 48% share of the audience’s appreciation, but it would surely be seen as a fifty-two percent loss rather than a forty-eight percent gain.

The final candidate to debate in Vermont was Jeremy American, the Ohio Governor, and he did only slightly better than his Democrat counterpart NepentheZ. With a debate on promiscuity within unhappy couples, his pro-divorce stance earned him 49% of the votes.

The candidates, tired out from a day of debating, went home to their hotel in Concord. Tomorrow, they’d be making the 150 mile journey to Augusta, Maine. The candidates had 6 rooms, two per room, and Benjamin Franklin and Robert Boyle kept the rest of the candidates up until late by pillow fighting, until the Secret Service had to intervene and gave Boyle the cushion-beating he deserved.

Republican poll leader Mikey Twigge was going to be the first to debate in Augusta. His 4-0 victory came hand-in-hand with a 64% possession rating for his Los Angeles Galaxy team, and he was given a standing ovation as he left the stage. Speech-maker Robert Boyle also did well; the pillow fight must have cleared his mind, for a 3-1 victory brought with it a 54% share of possession. Conservative Republican Giuseppe Rossi had an even better victory, 3-0, over New England Revolution, and his Chivas USA team got a slightly better possession rating, 55%.

Chicken-lover Little Clinton Jr. would be last to debate, taking his Colorado Rapids team to the fore. He faced Houston Dynamo, where he attained a 1-1 draw with his debate about family values. However, with the inevitable vagueness of his speech, he only got 43% of the possession, which matched Lawrence Lazewksi’s earlier effort.

As a PR stunt, the Republicans were going to watch a musical piece conducted by the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and the Democrats were playing baseball in a local park. Jeremy American, having lived and breathed baseball since a young age, played stunningly and merited himself a photo in the back page of the Augusta Tribune. The Democrats: good at baseball, but also good at winning New England primaries, as they won the three states with an average of 51% to 49%. The Democrats had now overtaken the Republicans in the states they had gained.

The Guest Speaker’s Speech

My fellow Americans, the topic of this Primary is about the family, more specifically child custody after divorce.

Parents need to think about the best interests of the children when it comes to their custody after divorce. One parent should not have

sole custody of the child unless the court see's it fit to keep the child away from one of the parents. Most parents cooperate but not all do when it comes to sharing their children.

To get this to work schedueles need to be devised for times when the children see each parent. Each of them will be allowed 3 days a week with the child and another day on alternate weeks. These schedules will have to fit the developing needs of the children so younger children will have shorter but more frequent blocks with their parents. Whereas teenagers would have longer but less frequent blocks with parents.

The Voting

Voting’s slightly different this time around. You are now giving 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points to the candidates from your own party other than yourself. Then you are giving Robert_296 a score from 5 for his speech. The voting form is below, please fill it in and email it to me.

Primary 7

New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine

Augusta Tribune, 17th May 2008

The United States Presidential campaign is beginning to solidify as this week sees no change at the top of either Democrat or Republican polls. Ohio Governor Jeremy American remains the Democrat favourite, and California Governor Mikey Twigge the Republican.

However, a good week for Democrat Governor of Michigan, Robert Boyle, takes him up to second behind American after a speech on Divorces and Child Custody. Meanwhile, other than Twigge, who is widening his lead at the head of the Republican polls, Little Clinton Jr., from Colorado, has done well this week, yet his 20% share of the Republican vote still leaves him in an unchanged position, fourth place.

In fact, the Republicans have experienced absolutely no change in rankings, with Magnus Vestergaard, Utah, still last, yet from the Democrats, Robert Boyle has ascended, switching places with Benjamin Franklin, who suffered yet another poor performance with no fans in the delegates. NepentheZ remains last amongst Democrats, and he has still not yet attained the number of points that the late Winston Walcott had at the end of the last primary, in New York, before his assassination.

He and Benjamin Franklin suffered the worst weeks in the Democrat party, and from the Republicans, a respectable 10% share was the lowest, that of second-placed James Salter, only marginally behind current third-placed Texas Governor Lawrence Lazewski in this week’s polls.

With the political race solidifying, it could well be one of the top two candidates that we see today that enters the Whitehouse next January. However, with the recent upsurge of Michigander Robert Boyle, nothing is final until the final delegates press those buttons in Hawaii.

6 points is a ****ing shambles. Not sure if the other Democrats feel it's tactical to vote off someone in mid-table obscurity or are just morons. Ridiculous. There will be repercussions ;)

You did come last... (in possession, I mean).

Writer's Notes: Good to see Obama fumble his oath today :). You'd best get voting for Tomaldinho if you want the sign-up to mirror reality (for argument's sake, Tomaldinho is African-American). This sign-up seems a bit superfluous now, but keep watching! Thanks for the continued support, the results for Primary 8 will be published tomorrow (although I'm anxious as to whether Benjaminoo will send in his speech).

Primary 8

Massachusetts

NBC News, 18th May 2008

Debbie Rae: And now, onto political news, and the citizens of Massachusetts will be hosting the Race for the Whitehouse, just one week after the assassination of their own candidate, Winston Walcott. Here’s Cal van Disney, in Boston, with more.

Cal van Disney: A city in mourning. Just seven days ago this city and this state lost their people’s person, their competitor for the Whitehouse, who was assassinated upon leaving Shea Stadium, New York City. The police are still mired in their investigation, and they have a few suspects, but citizens here maintain that the murderer will be apprehended and punished by God.

The chances of Massachusetts having its next President after John F Kennedy have now diminished, and it seems that the state has been plagued with luck as bad as Ohio’s, although the Mayor of Boston has publicly reproached any rumours, putting the two assassinations of Bay Staters and the two assassinations and two deaths-in-office of Ohioans as ‘pure numbers’. Some citizens in Ohio are already prematurely celebrating the nomination of Jeremy American as Democrat delegate, a phenomenon not yet seen in California for Mikey Twigge and the Republicans.

Either way, the candidates will be entertaining delegates here this week with debates on the subject of The Fire Department (Public Safety). Some of the Democrats have also arranged a visit to the family of Winston Walcott to pay their condolences.

The state has been tipped already as a Republican hot-zone, despite being a traditional Democrat stronghold. It is already predicted that good performances from Magnus Vestergaard and Giuseppe Rossi, for whom Public Safety is the forte, will push up the bar and win the state for the Elephants. However, other leading commentators are predicting that a surge in voter turnout combined with the sympathy vote could well swing the polls in the other direction.

However, at the end of the day, any aberrations really need to be avoided in front of these citizens in shock. If a candidate slips up, they are likely to be slated. The candidate with the “lowest number of fouls” is expected to profit immensely. The pressure is certainly on New York Governor Benjamin Franklin who, after two disastrous weeks in the last three possible, has to pull of a great speech in order to save his campaign.

A question regarding the speeches, do you PM the person who has to hold a speech? How long beforehand?

Also, I will most likely not be on te forums from Friday until next Saturday. I will try my best tcome on and vote, but I am going tovist a friend in Switzerland and will have limited interent access during that period.

Back onto this primary, I hope Clinton Jr. can start improving soon, Colorado seem to be in a bit of a slump...

I PM the person whose turn it is to make a speech once the voting opens for the primary before them. You happen to be the next Guest Speaker, and you will receive a PM tomorrow, so you should be able to give me your speech before you leave for publication on Saturday.

Thanks for telling me, I've noted it and you'll miss voting for two primaries (although you'll still get your own points).
