I'm up for doing another softies season once we are up and running but I'm restricted to just two weekends (Fri-Sun) which are the 18th and 25th of September, then any from 9th October onwards.

Pretty fussy I know but I have a few busy weekends coming up and I'm back at work now.

Rugby and Mangotsfield sounds good.

What I'm going to find most interesting is whether Braintree and Blyth manage to sustain their status as one of the world's best clubs.

All depends on GK's I think.

If they keep one (and play him) who has good aerial ability then all will be fine. Otherwise both teams will go the way of Man City in the Monkeys save.

Already looks a miracle that Rugby survived last season, would be surprised if they remain an option after this one. What sort of progress you making ssestig?

Incidentally, one of the ideas I had knocking about when we started this was to load up another league (maybe Italy as it has a few levels) and moving on to that once England had been conquered. The main drawback would be the extra size of the save, might have been slow for a lot of people.

Jimbo - I'm not all that fussed about international management, tbh. Haven't tried it in FM for a long long time, just doesn't appeal to me much. I think the issue would be someone taking over a team, then the next person finds it a chore and doesn't want to carry on with it. It's also hard to have any sort of development of a nation - basically you're just making the most of the players at your disposal, therefore I'm not sure how well it fits in with the prinicipal of the challenge.

Didn't play last night and half way through July. So not much progress :o

If you want to do the Rugby part of the challenge you can start instead of my season if you want as I can't get into the save as i've not played this in quite a while.

Ah right, fair enough. Would make sense to get stuck into it as Rugby tbh, then both sides would be starting over in the same season.

Does anyone want to make a start as Rugby then? Jimbo maybe? I went quite recently and probably wouldn't have time just now anyway.

I'll give it a blast if you want [gulp].

WIth regards to International management then someone who really wasn't interested, (like yourself), could just holiday that day, but I'm thinking that maybe we should have a vote with the guys and see who they are interested in taking over, (if anyone).

Do you wnat me to crack on with Rugby then?

Rugby May 2032.

Wallace steps down.

We might be one of the Premiersips top managers but we are still only worth £450 per week in Conference National.

Rugby Town. A background.

Ass Man report.

U18's Ass Man report.

GK's overview.

Danny Gore only has an aerial ability attribute of 6 so he will soon be on his way.

Kevin Hughes has a position rating of 6 so that's him out too.

DL's

Danny Parkinson is complete guff so he will be shown the door.

Tom Mills is a decent player but at 34 his best years are behind him and his physical ability is severely in decline. He played Championship football as recently as 2029/30 and then a season in League 1 with Carlisle in 2030/31 but I'm not sure how many miles he has left in those legs.

DR's

Simon McGhee is the only natural DR in the squad. He looks average(ish) and although I hope to replace him, he might be staying. (he did once play a Premiership game though). The other guy is a young DC.

DC's

Andy Hampson seems the best here. He's obviously pish at marking but in other important areas he is probably better than I was expecting.

Gavin Adamson looks good in both technical and mental areas but he is struggling physically and won't be offered a new contract.

Kevin Geddes will be on his way as he just doesn't offer anything.

Nick Watson & Jason May will also be on the way out the door as they have little to offer.

Kieron Cannon will be offered a new 1 year contract purely on the basis of his jumping/heading ability.

Jamie Baines is more of a DM than a DC.

ML's

Craig Barber looks better than I was expecting.

Jason Cleaver looks less good, but on the plus side he does a mighty fine impression of Newcastles Alan Smith.

MR's

Darren Armstrong looks decent enough.

Steven Boorman looks better than decent.

Mark Davis will be on his way.

MC's

I am really looking to play a tactic that utilises a DM and an AMC but beggars can't be choosers and if all I have is MC's then that is what I will use.

Ashley Dennis is suggested as the best MC at the club. He is out injured for the next 2 months with damaged cruciate ligaments and I am not overly impressed anyway so I think I will be asking him to leave the club a year early.

Jamie Baines looks decent(ish) and is a specialist DM so I might be making use of the 1 season left on his contract.

James Dean. Ooh I like him. He will be offered a new contract right now.

I don't like Lee Bangura, but he can play both DM and AMC and has decent physical stats so I might be making use of the season left on his contract. (Does anyone think he looks just like James Dean except with a sun tan?)

Mickey Ramsden might be able to do a job.

Ben Wragg is guff so will be on his way.

SC's

Anthony Gilbert. Bloomin hell! Where did we get him from!!!!! He can stay.

David Bowler. And another decent SC! God I am a happy chappy. No wonder Rugby stayed up last season with these 2.

Bruce Daly isn't up to much, but then again if we are only looking for someone to feature from the bench then he might be good enough.

Tony Skidmore has ability to match his name. He will be leaving.

Finances. Ouch. £1M in the red and a £1.2M loss over the season. The reason is that we are £1.2k per week over our wage budget. I hate to tell you but I think most of you will know by now that I like large squads. I'm not sure how this is going to work. lol

We currently have Coventry as a Parent team. I think I am correct in saying that we shouldn't make use of this.

Information.

Staff. That's decent in terms of quality actually:thup:.

[Edit] Apologies that some of the pics are squashed.

Nobody wanting to go for the Softies. :( I'd go but A- I've only just been and B- I'll get relegated. :D

Almost £1m in the red, looks like you'll have to cut down your squad then. ;)

I can see why you can't get loans from your parent club, but are you not allowed to arrange a friendly against them either?

I've just realised why Rugby are £1M in the red.:o

It was a compensation payment that they had to pay Blyth for us I think.

It's just ticked over from 31st may to 1st June and the net transfer spend for the last month is £1,000,000:eek:

Sorry guys. I should have left Blyth and then accepted the job here after becoming a fee agent.

What an arse.

At least we know that the finances aren't as bad as we thought though.

Bankruptcy, relegation and the sack, (in that order).:(

A season where I was nearly sacked for getting relegated with RW Essen was one of my highlights of playing FM09, the losses/draws were hard with the board breathing down my neck, but the wins left me with a fantastic feeling. If anyone can keep us out of relegation and the sack in our first season, it's definitely you Jimbo, you're our dafuge!

Link to post

closest thing we have to do it tbf. There's only one dafuge though, a fantastic season in 16 hours, remarkable stuff.

Corrected Paul :D:p

Does anyone want to go first for the softies. I'm not avaliable unfortunately, i'd love a crack at the lower leagues but i haven't got the time atm unfortunately :(

Rugby June 2032.

So although I may have cost Rugby £1M by joining directly from Blyth rather than leaving first, I have been working hard to slash the wage bill.

We were at £6,860 per week with a budget of £5,660 in respect to salary.

We are now at £5,346 per week.

All of the players that I wanted to keep have signed extensions to their contracts that will see them remain at the club for at least 1 more season. I have also managed to get all but 2 of them onto full-time contracts rather than part-time ones and most of the squad have also taken a wage cut to stay,

I have brought in players on trial from every corner of the World, (well every corner of the search list anyway). Some of you who have been around for a while will know that I don't usually use the player search feature and usually rely on my scouts to find all players, I have a made an exception with this save because I think that with me going first with Rugby it will seriously limit our progress in this forst year.

So as a result I have had players in on loan from Ghana, Australia, Denmark, N.Ireland, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Sweden, Turkey, Bulgaria, Ireland, Gambia, and even the odd English bloke or twenty. Not a single one of the non-Brits was good enough to be offered a contract yet but I will keep trying.

I have cleared the shortlist completely and, but have manually added every player who has come through the youth system while we were at Blyth. I have also added selected others who have done well for us over the last few years in order that we might more easily follow their careers.

Link to post

If stiggy is happy with that, don't see why not. I would just add a manager at Rugby, retire him, resign from Blyth then apply for the job.

Anyone want to make a start for the Softies?

Somebody missed that bit then. ;)

Lower Leagues Rule - If you decide not to jump ship have you got time to play a season for Mangotsfield, you haven't done one for a while.

Apologies. With regards to the foreign triallist I have had at the club, I missed out Guyana, Sri Lanka and Cameroon. They were useless too.

European Championships 2032 watch. Holders England. Hosts Holland.

Group stages.

Holland 3 France 2.

Versluis (our old GK) and Lafforgue both scored for France as the Dutch took the points.

Ireland 3 Sweden 2.

Kevin Nash (MC) scored an injury time winner for the Irish to break the heart of Kvist (DL) who had scored his 4th International goal from (ML)

England 2 Spain 1

A Puckett double gave England the points against a strong Spanish team featuring Lafitah, Manuel, (who was injured), Ivan Mendez and Carmona (who scored).

Ireland 0 England 0

An Irish team playing 3 at the back comfortably held England to a draw while being led by ex Blyth player Ryan Cruse (SC), and a star performer at the back was Cranky (DC). Didn't I tell you there was something about him;).

Sweden 2 Spain 4.

Carmona was again on the scoresheet as he bagged a brace to give Spain a chance of qualifying from Group C. All they have to do is beat the Irish in their last game to finish 2nd in the group behind England.

France 3 Poland 1

Matteo Carrare with a brace and Lafforgue with the 3rd gave France a comfortable win.

Holland 2 Russia 0.

Versluis was dropped after his own-goal howler against the French but an ex Monkey was still involved as Ruud, (ML) popped up with an 84th minute penalty to seal the win that sees the Dutch go through as group winners with teh French in 2nd place. Pavlov and Alexeev had good games, (and good tournaments) at the heart of the Russian defence, but the rest of the team was just not up to scratch.

England 3 Sweden 0

Puchett was taken off in the first half injured but England still had too much for Kvist, Ek, Lewicki and the other Swedes who leave the tournament.

Interestingly, Jamie Wilmott, (remember the crap GK that single-handedly got man City relegated while European and World Champions, well he is in the England squad, but not playing). lol Silly AI.

Spain 1 Ireland 3.

A Ryan Cruse brace (and MOM performance saw off the highly rated Spaniards in a shock that sees the Irish progress to the knockout stages with England.

The 2 signings of the season last season in the Premiership both involved Blyth.

Danny Marshall was the 21 year old SC that Dava bought at the last minute to bring him up to 6 SC's. He contributed 4 goals and 4 assists in an excellent first season in the Premiership.

Henriksen was the Blyth stalward Sc that Dava sold in the first place, (grrrrrr lol), and he responded with 13 goals and 10 assists as he dragged Leicster from mid-table obscurity and into 5th in the Premiership.

The new season has just rolled over and ugby have just been given a new batch of youngsters, (all crap). We have also just been given our new wage budget [GULP].

It was £5.660 last season.

Now it is £1,900.

How the hell are we going to cope with that:eek:?

Link to post

I think by transferring directly to Rugby rather than leaving Blyth first I have ruined them with the £1M debt.

Do you want to have a chat about it and decide what you want me to do. I can cope as we are but I am not sure we will be able to progress as we would like with such a debt at this level.

Danny Roberts takes over at Mangotsfield

In the shock of English Football this week, the worldwide-acclaimed manager of Braintree has stepped aside and then taken up a job at Mangotsfield.

This followed the sudden retirement of The Faker. A huge number of staff followed him out the door. The background of Mangotsfield is not that major, hopefully his record of previous success comes to his new club.

The Current Squad

Goalkeepers

Matthew Finch (IRE 36) - It is a bit of a toss-up he looks like the back-up for Robinson, but if he performs better in trial games then he will take the spot, unless I can find someone better. 48 games 66 conceded.

James Kay (ENG 17) - Is pretty good for only 17, but even our manky Ass Man says he is only 3 star potential, not really as bright as he could be.

Ian Robinson (ENG 34) - The starter in my books even though he played back-up last year. 2 games 3 conceded.

I think we have a good covering here, but I will see if there is anything out there I can buy, or get on a free.

Defense

Right Side

Glenn Wright (ENG 22) - I do wish his positioning was a little better, and in my line-up I need attacking fullbacks, so his passing is a let down as well. Other than this he looks solid for the level and I will be happy to have him on the right flank. 45 games 3 gls 6 assts 6.39.

Definitely need another player here right away, Danny Pepper can play cover, but he is poor to say the least.

Left Side

Danny Pepper (ENG 16) - He can cover both sides at the back, he is more comfortable on the left, but really he is still not of a high enough quality. Wonder if we can get a feeder club ;)

Mick Richards (ENG 31) - He looks to be the best on the left currently, but I think he is quite poor even for this level, will be looking for a replacement. 46 apps 6 gls 6 asts 6.49

Left back I think Richards is good enough to play for a mid table side in the Blue Square North, but probably only relegation fodder in the South. I am looking around as we speak.

Centre Backs

Garry Bradley (SCO 30) - Two similar players in Bradley and Hislop, neither of them jumps off the page, will try them both out and see who works best with Mr Cooke. He actually played as the number 1 last season. 44 apps 2 gls 5 ast 1 mom 6.42

Ian Heslop (ENG 24) - He does have age going for him, so he may improve see where this could take him to. 26 apps 1 ast 5.92

Chris Cooke (ENG 24) - Number 1 choice, he is going to be the rock I build my defense around he appears to have similar ratings to all the others, but his attributes pull me in. Marking a little poor, but he is solid. 29 apps 1 gl 5.96

Marvin Berry (ENG 19) - A great name, but not much else going for him right now he has a bit of potential, and in my eyes with the right training should be able to play at this level. We are aiming higher so he will probably leave. 4 apps 5.80

Matthew Hopkins (ENG 18) - Hopkins is slightly better than Berry in potential (According to the assiest of AssMen), but he is worse right now. Again can I get a lowly Feeder Club for some first team games? 1 app 5.60

I think I have one good centre back and two that need looking at, we will see through a long Pre-Season what else is out there to give them a run for their money.

Midfield

Defensive Mids

Colin Whitney (IRL 29) - I don't like that he cannot be my playmaking masterpiece from DM, I like a player who can sit here and set up the moves, the decider of going left or right down the pitch, but thats ok he is a solid defensive mid and will start in my formation. 45 apps 2 gls 5 ast 6.15

Bradley Tierney (ENG 20) - My solid 20 year old back-up, if there were not sooo many good players in at MC as well then I would move him forward and give him a chance, but I think he might need some more bench time first. 20 apps 1 gl 1 ast 6.19

Jon Middleton (ENG 18) - The Middleton brothers are a bit of a joke. They cannot mark, and they cannot pass. So they can't do the defensive duties or the attacking ones, really why are they even here?

Mick Middleton (ENG 18) - The Middleton brothers are a bit of a joke. They cannot mark, and they cannot pass. So they can't do the defensive duties or the attacking ones, really why are they even here?

Clayton Fox (ENG 17) - He is a lowly youth team player with a little potential, will probably never see it realised.

Charlie Corrigan (ENG 16) - Very similar mould to "The Clay Fox" and unlikely to get a run, though if he is lucky he will still get a chance in the friendlies. 1 app 5.30

James Atkinson (ENG 17) - As bad as The Brothers Grimm he is likely to be first choice into the garbage.

A star player and a quality back-up, this doesn't mean I won't look for other talent, but this lot alone are solid enough. The 5 of them at Youth level will probably deserve some culling.

Centre Mids

Craig Arnold (ENG 25) - The star of the side, and while not a spring chicken if he is kept fit he will have no problem giving us service in the next step-up. The best of the midfield and I will be making sure he stays and is probably going to be the playmaker. 48 apps 2 gls 9 ast 6.19

Darren Stowell (ENG 24) - If he gets a place in the side it will be because I am playing with three centre-mids, but right now he is the first back-up behind Arnold & Bowen. He looks solid enough, but is just missing that extra push. 28 apps 2 gls 6 ast 2 mom 6.38

James Kelly (ENG 23) - Right behind Stowell on my depth chart is james Kelly, the member of the Kelly gang is solid, but unspectacular. If I can find some replacements we will see them join the club. 8 apps 5.58

Leslie Bowen (ENG 22) - The second choice for the position, he will be playing alongside Arnold in my modified tactic, hopefully this idea does pay off and I am not punished by the dropping of wings from my plan. 43 apps 1 gl 14 ast 2 mom 6.30

Adam Dalton (ENG 18) - Poor across the board. Enough said.

Steve Bywater (ENG 17) - A little better, but again feeder club fodder.

Currently looking at a DM, MC, MC, AM midfield with possibilities to go to DM, MC,MC,MC. So I would say it'll be Arnold & Bowen, Yates up infront of them. I will still be looking to see the competition.

Attacking Mids

Kevin Yates (ENG 25) - Currently I am going to be playing a tight diamond so I can make use of Kevin Yates in his natural position, he looks like he could become another star in this team and he will move up from here. 44 apps 11 gls 1 ast 1 mom 6.52

He will play, I need a back-up.

Right Wings

Eddie Watson (ENG 17) - A young winger, and he will just simmer away in the youth squad.

Left Wings

None with Best Position

Strikers

Simon Evans (ENG 33) - He is old, he has no composure, and no finishing should not be in the side anymore...bye bye. 31 apps 3 gls 2 ast 6.27

Chris Kane (ENG 27) - He looks good enough, but I am worried that he isn't scoring enough. he looks like a possible partner for Culshaw, but I need a goalscorer. 34 apps 10 gls 3 mom 6.62

Ian Culshaw (ENG 26) - The best in the current squad, but I wonder if there is better out there. He just isn't scoring at a high enough rate for a top class striker. 39 apps 14 gls 1 ast 3 mom 6.65

Paul Smith (ENG 21) - He has the same question on him as Kane, can he actually score goals. Will be very interesting to see if he can use his ability. Culshaw will start, if they were still even Smith would back him up over Kane. 28 apps 10 gls 1 ast 2 mom 6.61

Ben Hall (ENG 20) - The youngster has bags of potential and a solid record in his 1 start 8 subs career. I actually may give him some game time upfront early on to see if he can outperform the others. 9 apps 1 gl 1 ast 1 mom 6.83

Charlie Edgar (ENG 18) - Nothing to see here.

Daryl Smith (ENG 18) - Another feeder club player.

Danny Walton (ENG 18) - Move along.

John Hough (ENG 17) - We really need a farming system so I can send these players off and call them up at any time. ;)

At Striker we have a solid line-up, but really I am actually disappointed with what I can see so I am going to do a bit of looking for some solid goalscorers from this division last season, from the one above if I can.

There we go i have finished the players update now. moving onwards.

That's because of the debt which you caused by not resigning first. Seeing as you didn't follow instructions :p, I think you should restart from the original save that you downloaded and actually resign this time.

Not only didn't I follow them, I didn't even read them.:o

Re-starting now.

Sorry guys.:(

Link to post

Yeah, Jimbo, deffo restart. A million quid debt is not so much challenging as almost impossible.

Just thinking though, does seem to show the board is pretty ambitious if they're prepared to put the club that far in debt for a new manager...might be a good sign when it comes to expanding the facilities, spending in the transfer market and what not.

Also, if anyone's finished Dafuge's challenge and wants a real challenge to carry on with, at least they now know how :)

Lol, the faker is hired then retires. Mass exodus from Braintree, not sure you'll manage to sign any of them for Mangotsfield though. :(

My views:

A couple of golden oldie 'keepers, Robinson looks like first choice but James Kay looks a good prospect at this level.

Defence looks pretty strong although could do with another left and right back.

Midfield is definately the strongest position, Colin Whitney looks good if you play with a DMC, and Craig Arnold jumps out as the star of the side. If you play with wingers, that will obviously need addressing.

Striker is another strong position, Ian Culshaw looks good, has pace and can finish pretty well, between Kane and Smith for second choice.

Rugby June 2032.

Ok. So after resigning from Blyth and then accepting the Rugby job, the finances are in a significantly better position, although it should also be noted that the cost of them playing in Conference North last season was about £250,000 (which seems a lot to me). With regards to finances, something else that I haven't seen before, (or if I have then I just can;t remember), is that rather than 1 big sponsorship deal, they actually have 9 smaller deals in place. (4 x £250 per season and 5 x £125 per season). Anyone else noticed this before? Maybe I'm just having a blonde day.

There are 1374 players on our search list, (with unrealistic players filtered out). I will be seeing most of them at the club for a trial over the next month or so. It would be interesting to compare this number to what the Softies have available.

I am pleasantly surprised by the staff we have at the club.

Ashton is the Ass Man and is significantly better than I had expected/hoped for.

Bubby GEN JPA1 JPP1 is the only coach at the club and sadly he is on a long term contract until 2036. I have offered him a mutual termination, (he's pish so we will just have to suck it up and pay the compensation), and then move on with a better candidate. As well as his coaching abilty being spread well over all areas (bar GKing), his scouting attributes are both decent , (more than decent in fact), which will be of great importance as I expect to be only allowed to have 1 scout at the club.

Stott is the phyio and while he is no great shakes, I don't hold the ability of a physio in great importance. I will be running an advert to see if I can get some better physios lined up for when Stott leaves, but will not be overly bothered no matter what happens.

Hutchinson JPA13 JPP14 is a good scout. Certainly far better than I had hoped for at this level, and he will obviously be offered an extension to his contract to keep him at the club. I am also pleasantly surprised that the club will actualy allow me to appoint a 2nd scout.

Henry GEN JPA10 JPP13 has joined us and is now the 2nd scout. The choice wasn't that great to be honest, so I went with him because he offers us the possibilty of a joint Fitness/GK coach further down the line.

Rugby losses announced. So even though we didn't saddle them with a £1M debt, the "Egg Chasers" still lost £300,000 in the last financial year. I think we can expect more of the same this year.

Link to post

I think purely because of the lack of wingers I am going to drop in to a modified version of my tactic, and then attempt to play it from there, I am heading to look over the transfer market as I have 200k to spend even if I only have 500 in wages spare.

:D Great news, although i'd look for some players and then put most of what's left into the wage budget to accomodate for the extra wages

The Monkeys must be jealous... ;):p

5k wages & 200k Transfer budget look promising, though need to spend the transfer asap as reset date is comeing.

As for search list we have 4327, (Only unrealistic ticked), so unless you;ve not mentioned expiring/expired ticked then we drop to 2932. 1248 expiring and therefore a lot of players out there that I will have to wade through to find someone. :)

EDIT: Remember guys this is before reset, so that is what the last manager left me so I need to spend that quickly or we lose it all.

A Softies day at Mangotsfield

There are a few prospects out and about for signing, so I thought I would show them to you and see what all my softies buddies think.

Stephen Hunter (GK) - Profile (Report) - Already better than both our current keepers, with a bagload of potential, he is only 19, so that is a downside, but if we keep one of the two old boys then he will have some good training as well. I think he may just be worth the spending of 40-50k if I can get him. (Up to you guys)

Lewis Stevenson (DC) - Profile (Report) - The perfect partner for Cooke in the defense, he should step straight in and solidify the backline. And at a small 2k price tag gotta be a purchase. Oh I can get him on a free.

Mark Wilson (ST) - Profile (Report) - Not seriously thinking about it, but just showing you what other prospects are out there, appears to be no good strikers interested in us, might try to get our current ones to perform instead.

Craig Rose (DR) - Profile (Report) - Available on a free, is about the same as our current right back, but can improve (at 26 I doubt it). I know we need another fullback and he is one of the top prospects.

Jon Page (DC) - Profile (Report) - Only 18, mentally sound, physically strong, we just need to build his technical game, and if he runs as the number one back-up then I think he can grow into the squad. Is also available on a free.

Julian Cooper (DL) - Profile (Report) - A bit old, but he does look like twice the player of Mitch, I think if I can get him to sign on a free to a single year contract then he might help get us promoted. (Want some assistance on this decision, we do need another left back) Oh and also what better team to steal a player from.

Matt Hawkins (DL) - Profile (Report) - The other possibility at left back is a bit younger (I said a bit), but he has a lot of skill on defense. No matter which fullbacks I get I am going to need to reign in their attacking as none of them can dribble very well at this level. I think it'll take 5k to get him though.

Matt Hobbs (DL) - Profile (Report) - A third option at DL, Hobbs is not as good as the other two currently, and at 25 has probably reached his peak. I think I will pass on him myself, but if anyone else thinks he is the better one I think you should speak up. :)

Simon Pears (ST) - Profile - The best striker around, but at 34 he is getting to be past it, I was tempted by a single season with him, but I think I will leave it.

Those are about the best of the prospects in the areas I think I want to fill, I am however going to have a look at the Blue Square Golden Boots and see if any of them will come visit us for a season or two ;)

Edit:

Jamie Neal (ST) - Profile (Report) - 20 years old, fast, composed, a great finisher, he is a little weak off the ball, but I think I have found our newest striker. If someone disagrees then please say so.

Jamie Mackay (DL) - Profile - Another player I brought in on trial to have a glance at, he is the first fullback I have seen who fufills my attacking qualities as well as being solid on defense. And he is young. The experience here is a worry, but along with Hunter, if I keep the older guy alongside he will become a star.

Hunter - Buy, buy and buy!

Stevenson - On a free, he'd be a good signing

Wilson - Looks decent, could score a few but won't be good enough for the BSP IMO.

Rose - No question, get him. If his technicals develop nicely, he could be a handy player

As for the LB, it depends how much we can afford to spend on wages. How much would Cooper be willing to accept? If it's too much, then go for Hawkins, but Cooper the No. 1 target IMO, despite his age :)

Hastings Utd have come back saying they want £110,000 for Hunter, I am not sure that he is quite worth that much, so I am going to go back to them with a bid of £75,000 and see what they say.

And the bid of £75,000 is accepted. He wants first team status, which i am willing to give him, but I will try to still rotate him with one of the old boys.
