Earnie is God!
59min - Liverpool go 2-1 up on Merseyside 82min - Everton make the scores level again. Come on you bluenoses, grab the winner! 85min - WBA equalise too and we are still leading 1-0. Just need one more Everton goal here 👀 89min - Gotfred makes our game safe Jobson spotted Gotfred free on the left He took it into the area and beat the GK at the near post But it's all in vain as Liverpool score in the 93rd minute to win their match 3-2 😭
Earnie is God!
Turns out WBA scored an even later goal to beat City 3-2 but that goal didn't make a difference to the final table
Earnie is God!
We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves as we have two cup finals coming up and need to focus Pfft, a tinpot treble 5 defeats for us all season, the 3rd best defence and 4th best attack. Not bad Pre-season prediction was 6th so we've done well Although this pisses me off we were challenging right up until the final minute, idiot! They've even got us as being 1st at the end of the season... But they also have Liverpool and City 1st too 🙄 Stupid FM Edited September 16, 2020 by Earnie is God! Earnie is God!
Nice, I wasn't aware he was that close I'm surprised I won MoTY seeing as Liverpool did the 'treble' but I'll gratefully accept Good to see some of our players recognised too
Earnie is God!
FA Cup Final We actually have a really good record v Man U, unbeaten in the last 9 meetings. I didn't realise we hadn't lost to them in 4 years. Jussan took a little knock in midweek but he's fit to play. Murray's coming in on the left wing for GeistMeister, otherwise we are unchanged. Earnie is God!
We started the game pretty well without any real chances but then, in the 33rd minute, Murray was tripped in the box and we had a penalty! McKenzie stepped up... The GK went the right way but couldn't stop it 1-0 up at half time In the 69th minute, Murray robbed the fullback fed the ball to McKenzie who turned sharply and caught the 'keeper off guard with an early shot 2-0 up with 20min to go
Earnie is God!
With the game approaching the 90min mark, we had a free kick. Jalysson sent the ball over to the far post... Giannelli headed it goalwards and we scored our 3rd! But who is the number 4 who smashed it into the net? It's only Samarenkin with his 1st ever Dronfield goal. What a time to get it! We couldn't keep a clean sheet though... I don't think Alfinete passed his Walking Dead audition 😁 But he's a skilful chap, turning inside quickly, knocking it to Forde who laid it off to Cleo. The ball was past Jones in goal before he knew it Same old Man U though, manipulating the ref here with more "Fergie Time" 😒 But it made little difference, we'd done it! Earnie is God!
With our first cup in the bag, it's time to turn our attention to the big one, the Champions League final. that'll come tomorrow night.
Earnie is God!
Champions League Final First CL final for us and I'm a little nervous if I'm honest. Valencia might not be Barcelona or Real Madrid but they are still a very talented side and have actually taken 10pts off the big two in Spain this season. They finished 3rd in La Liga and scored 76 goals so that's two a game. No surprise that Kike and Julian were both at the top of the scoring charts. It's not going to be an easy ride for us that's for sure but I'd want it no different. Valencia have been made slight favourites And it's not just the strikers we have to worry about. As you'd expect, they have a very talented, technically gifted side. Perhaps stifling them is the way to go in this one and our usual 4-1-4-1 formation might just do that. Earnie is God!
An early chance for us from an indirect free kick but CB Owen sent his header over the bar 15min - some good work out wide and Murray found himself in a bit of space outside the area and tried a speculative shot which drifted past the far post 30min - it's been a solid start by us, we've had 5 shots but just the one on target so far; Valencia haven't had a sniff But that all changes straight after that as they had 3 shots in quick succession which were all blocked and from the resulting cross, we were lucky the effort was hit straight at Jones 32min and another chance for Valencia from the edge of the area but a simple save for Jones The shot count is now 6 for us, 7 for the Spaniards Worryingly, we've had 3 players booked already, need to be careful about that 0-0 at HT but we've been here before. Need a fast start to the 2nd half. Murray's not playing well and he's been booked too. Time for the GeistMeister methinks
Earnie is God!
Entering the final 10min and I'm thinking about making changes but let's see how this plays out first... Gotfred to Geist who lays it back to Jussan The Brazilian wizard spreads it wide to Gotfred who dribbles towards the area The LB whips the ball in, trying to find Russo at the far post... and he puts it away! But wait, VAR is checking for offside here... Phew! 83min gone and we just need to control the game from here. Edited September 17, 2020 by Earnie is God! Earnie is God!
Valencia are chasing the game, pushing men forward. They've already threatened once on the counter, we need to stop them doing it again. Here we go, heading into injury time... Another close offside call. Can VAR save us? Sadly not and it's 1-1 in the 91st minute Into Extra Time we go!
Earnie is God!
Having made just the two substitutions, with extra time I not only have one left but an extra one too. Earnie is God!
99min and they break down the right, knock it inside and Derivaldo unleashes a rocket from 25yds. Jones manages to get a fingertip on it and diverts it narrowly over the crossbar We survive from the resulting corner and hack the ball to safety They are all over us now and it looks like only a matter of time before they get the winner From yet another Valencia attack, we break up play and subbed-in LB Mardones picks the ball up on the edge of our box and goes off on a marauding run, all the way to their penalty area. He lays it off to Jones but his effort is deflected for a corner That corner is poorly delivered in by Laerte and the ball is cleared towards the halfway touchline. Jean Carlos dashes to keep the ball in, manages to do so but is robbed by their LW who dribbles to the edge of our box before firing wide. Phew! End of the 1st half of extra time and they had four chances to our zero. For the last 15min, they've also now switched to playing 4-2-4 I think our best option is to try and play for penalties
Earnie is God!
Club stalwart Danny Jones wins the ball in midfield and sends McKenzie clear down the left. He dribbles into the area, holding off the defender, but his shot is straight at the 'keeper Valencia seemingly shooting from everywhere now, but one of them just might fly in if we don't close them down 119min - that man Jones wins the ball not once but twice and this times hoofs the ball over the top for Laerte to chase. The much maligned winger beats his man but, like McKenzie, his effort is tame and easily saved Last minute now and they are on the break but the cross into the box is easily cleared by Owen And so, after 120min of exhilarating football, this year's Champions League Final will be decided on penalties
Earnie is God!
McKenzie is our only specialist penalty taker. FM likes to stick the 'best' first but I decide to stick him in 3rd. Laerte has the honour
Earnie is God!
The decision is justified The fans will learn to love him Top scorer Kike goes first for Valencia. Jones guesses the right way... but the strike is too clinical. 1-1 GeistMeister makes it 2-1 but Julian restores parity Top scorer McKenzie next for us... but it's saved Augusto to put the Spanish side 3-2 up... SAVED!! Brilliant effort from Jones to keep it 2-
Earnie is God!
Danny Jones steps up confidently. Earnie is God!
Season 2034/35 Review It was a case of so close yet so far this season. We could have won a historic treble but will have to settle for the FA Cup. It's a mixture of delight and disappointment tbh but it's certainly been an improvement so we'll take the positives rather than worry about if we'll ever make a CL final again. New season expectations are reasonable, some of the new ones are only favoured and not important so I've left them in
Earnie is God!
We're in the money I'm pretty happy with the squad though. Might make one or two additions but nothing major so don't feel the need to spend much of our mammoth £773m transfer kitty. Instead, I've decided to concentrate on tying down our best players to long term deals and I don't mind giving them much better contracts than before if it means they're not coming to me every 5min wanting more money. Although, some of them still take the mickey... The GeistMeister is already one of our top earners, 3rd highest in fact, on £200k a week and he's not had the best of seasons tbh, McKenzie has outshone him by a long way. So for him to be asking for £450k, more than double what he already earns, I find rather disgusting. If that wasn't bad enough, he also wants almost an extra £100k just for playing, £70k for scoring and more than a lot of people earn in a year for just sitting on the bench for one match. On top of that, he was asking for £600k if he is capped by Germany 5 times. I just walked away without any kind of negotiation i.e. I left the screen and did not click 'walk away'. And that's important as it means I've not officially rejected any kind of deal he wants so I can come back to it soon if I wish. He's also not going to be annoyed at me as there is no breakdown of talks. He has 2yrs left on his current deal so I have time to assess him over the next 6 months or so before deciding if I want him around for longer. If it wasn't for the fact that the fans love him I'd be moving him on this summer tbh Edited September 18, 2020 by Earnie is God!
Earnie is God!
I find some of this info useful so never really turn off the notifications for it, although a lot of it is rubbish e.g. McKenzie signed a 5yr deal when he joined us last summer and this advice is telling me to give him a new deal already even with 4yrs left on his current one. Tbh I don't care that he's scored 30 goals for us in his debut season. He already has very generous appearance and goal bonuses so I'm not prepared to give him a new deal just yet. If he fires in another 30 this season then I'll consider it. As for the other advice, I've mainly ignored it. Have offered new contracts to both Coulibaly and Jobson. Couls is now home grown and our only real BWM should I need one. He might not have played a lot this season but he did well when called upon. Jobson is class and can play in a number of positions, very useful. It's also telling me not to renew Jordan Jordan's contract but he's one of the most talented youngsters coming through so of course I give him a new deal. Why wouldn't I? As for loan listing the two it mentions, generally it tells me to loan out 17yos and I'd rather keep them here til they are at least 18. The bottom two bits of advice are generally good to have and take notice of so it's not a complete waste of time at least. Edited September 18, 2020 by Earnie is God! Earnie is God!
Not done much in the way of transfers so far. Only on an amateur contract so he cost nothing, is joining us tomorrow I believe
Earnie is God!
Stat Attack Player stats first. Over half of McKenzie's goals this season have come in cup competitions, just like with Geist last year. Russo proving his worth on the right wing, top assist maker for two seasons running now. A bit surprising that McKenzie didn't win PoTY. He topped the goals chart, had the highest ave rating and most MoM awards 🤷♂️
Earnie is God!
Team/Club Stats We've hit capacity a number of times this past season so I thought I'd chance my arm and ask the board to expand the stadium. Surprisingly, even though our new ground is only two years old, they agreed. Lovely! Although I was hoping for more than just a 4,000 increase. Earnie is God!
Right, time to look at improving the squad a little. Have also tweaked my tactic and changed 'much shorter passing' to a bit more direct, asked the players to attack a bit wider and switched the LW/IF to attack instead of support. Hopefully that'll create more chances for us rather than keeping possession too much and Geist might do better with the attacking instruction at LW as he's been pretty disappointing when employed there this season. Earnie is God!
Last season was a bit of a one-off in terms of how much I talked about it. I'm aware that there were a lot of posts I made and perhaps too many. But we were in our first ever cup finals in both the FA and CL so it's understandable. This season, I'll condense it down a bit. Pre-season transfer activity and we've brought in a kid who the fans don't rate (again) but he could turn out to be good in the long term. But I've spent big on a left winger from Man City and he looks pretty special Can play as a natural winger or fit into last season's tactic as an inside forward just as he signs a new contract which, for some reason the fans don't like either I'm starting to think it's the fans who are consistently wrong about players and not me 🤔 A few kids were moved on too, similar to last season, and Salford have bought two of them. We'll make money if they are later sold on for profit. I rejected bids for my backup LB and we made a tiny profit from a previous sell-on clause A nice jump up in reputation and ranking for us after our success last campaign New season fixtures have been released and it looks like we'll have clumps of easy and then difficult games to play this season

Earnie is God!
2035 Summer Transfers The intention was to spend money and improve the squad. It did and then again it didn't work out that way. I've had my eye on this guy for ages and he ended up for sale so I negotiated a decent deal unfortunately, he went elsewhere We did spend £144m on three new players though Plus a freebie with good potential But then Juventus came in for my best midfielder and I just couldn't resist, especially after negotiating the offer to £112m! he is quality but never really impressed for us Youngster Earing, after turning down Brum, went to Leeds instead Long serving Danny Jones felt a move would have been good for him. He's a fan favourite but that's the only real reason I kept him around A few other sales too mean that we've made a profit for the umpteenth year in a row Man City spending big! Earnie is God!
Season hasn't started too well. We lost the Community Shield to Liverpool in what turned out to be a bit of a fiery affair First few leagues games were hit and miss: 4-0 v Hudd, 0-0 @ Brighton and a 1-0 late defeat to Man City Champions League draw has been made and we were 2nd seeds. I'm pretty happy with the outcome PSV were the lowest ranked of the 3rd seeds so seem to have fallen away a bit in recent years. Earnie is God!
We are into November and I'm delighted with how things have been going. After testing out a few different formations in pre-season, I was never really happy with any of them. But since switching to a 4-4-2 with a DM we have been scoring for fun. Initially, it was a bit leaky defensively but a couple of tweaks and we went on a run of 7 games without conceding. We have scored 6 goals in 3 different games, including this one which really kickstarted our excellent form The wingers are key to this and I have no doubt that Jose Ednei, our summer signing, has been the main reason we've done so well. With Russo playing on the other side, we've been pretty lethal Laerte has played backup to Ednei but I don't really have anyone for the right side should Russo get injured or I want to rest him. That was until my scouts came up with this guy and he has just a £5.5m release clause He's not agreed to sign just yet but I'm hopeful. I know he's not used to playing RM but he's naturally right footed and will learn it just fine. Back to our results and not only did we put 6 past Bournemouth, we also scored half a dozen v Galatossers (CL) and Chelsea (League Cup), who we also bagged 5 against in the league Another new signing is also doing well and certainly helped us out in this 2-0 win at Palace A couple of things for me Close to that 1,000 game mark now; I've never got anywhere near that before. Player development still going well too Our excellent form has seen us rise to the top of the league as well as winning all 4 CL games so far and qualifying for the knockout stages already This has of course meant that a lot of clubs are interesting in our players and we get annoying things like this, which managers would never say in real life 😒 As I mentioned the other day, I'm not going to be posting a gazillion things for this season and will try and condense it down a bit. Next update will probably be after the January transfer window.
Earnie is God!
Rios (player listed in previous post) agreed to join us in January then this happened... That's my star winger out for the season and possibly beyond 😨🤦♂️ I may have to look for another; perhaps a loanee or maybe train someone else to play there for the season. Meanwhile, our Welsh adventure isn't going so great. We lost a couple of key qualifiers early on and have been playing catch-up ever since Our final two games are this week, Romania at home and Poland away These were our two defeats earlier so we need to win both to stand any chance of 2nd place and a potential playoff place. I'm not overly hopeful but we'll see Edited September 27, 2020 by Earnie is God!
Earnie is God!
Tight game against the unbeaten Romanians and it took until the 86th minute for us to get the breakthrough Kaplanovic on his return to the squad after more than a year of me leaving him out. But joy turned to anguish when the goal was ruled out for offside. It was such a close call too The game ended 0-0 but Kosovo drew with Poland so we might still have a slim chance of qualifying if we beat the Poles Although, looking at it, only 9 of the 10 teams who finish 2nd in their groups qualify and it appears we have the worst record of the lot and even a win in Poland isn't going to change that Maybe that's why the Welsh FA's confidence in our performance has dropped from 55% to just 36%. If only that goal hadn't been ruled out for offside. Oh well, looks like I'm getting sacked in the morning! Edited September 27, 2020 by Earnie is God! Earnie is God!
A really dull game in Poland where we created next to nothing. Neither did the Poles tbf and it went into injury time with the scores still 0-0. I changed things up with 10min to go, desperate for the goal that might, but probably still wouldn't, see us make it to the Euros. In the 93rd minute, we got the goal and this one couldn't be ruled out I've kept my job but only just. I may give up the role anyway tbh as really need to concentrate on Dronfield and make sure I have enough time to complete the save and dominate Europe Wales have moved up a bit in the rankings with that win in Poland

Earnie is God!
OK so it's now February, the transfer window has closed and there have been some changes. Besides Rios, who I mentioned before, we've signed an experienced FB from Man U who can play either side. I think he'll mainly play RB We also sold a few youngsters, my 3rd choice GK who wanted to move for more games and Laerte who I finally gave up on as the improvement I expected just wasn't there. Perhaps the fans were right about him after all 😏 I turned down offers for players I didn't want to sell, including a £100m one from Valencia for Geist He wasn't interested in the move anyway which is just as well Transfer Window Round-up Leicester spending big! Wage updates ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ Injuries played a big part in our fortunes both before and after Christmas. Not only was Ednei out for the season with an ACL, Russo on the other wing also missed a month or so. Geist a few weeks and some others too With a lack of quality in the wide areas, we struggled and I was forced to change formation which had mixed results and we slipped away from the top and down to 3rd A 1-0 win over leaders Liverpool pushed us back to the top at the end of the year and we are now unbeaten in 10 but Liverpool roared back with 5 wins on the bounce to go above us again We threw away a 2-0 lead v Palace and had a man sent off early at Hudd but still were winning until late on there too 😒 It's going to take a lot to overhaul Liverpool with their current form. In the Champions League, we've had no such worries and being able to rest players for our final two group games was handy. We've been drawn against Hertha Berlin in the last 16 which I'm pleased about when you look at who we could have ended up with So this is where we are right now. A lot of work to do to win the league but I'm after a CL win over everything else
Earnie is God!
Next post will be in about 6wks as we assess our youth intake. The preview looks promising but I never believe what it says about quality. Especially when it mentions all these great prospects and then ends with the line "this is not a great group of young players" 🙄 And we'll also see if there is any more of this nonsense Erm, he's been at the club for 5 years already! Earnie is God!
OK so our youth intake first and there are one or two promising players and some average ones we might be able to sell for profit in a year or three. The rest were gash and have been binned already 😏 Still, I have reasonably high hopes for this guy That determination should see him reach his seemingly decent potential. We were battling away in the league but then injuries hit hard for the 2nd time this season Some key players missing there and it took its toll, especially against old nemesis West Brom That game seems to be the story of our season; dominating most matches in terms of chances yet failing to convert. And it basically sealed our fate, no chance of the title after that. We weren't having much luck in other matches either
Earnie is God!
Déjà vu all over again? Liverpool not only win the league but the 'tinpot' treble again We are through to the FA Cup final in a landmark game for me personally and have a chance of making it into the CL final too, just like last season also Valencia were bullish after a 3-3 draw at our place but we had other ideas Some big games to finish the season with and, with the league gone, I'll be concentrating on the Champions League as we have yet to win it Nagelsmann doesn't seem to rate me much. No idea what his beef is, can't remember ever having had any kind of conversation before to make him come out with this Just another instance of FM being idiotic I suppose
Earnie is God!
Speaking of which... We beat the Swiss and then Ukraine in the playoff semi final and final to qualify for the Euros after all, a great achievement with a bunch of average players tbh The advice from my AssMan for our teamtalk straight after achieving qualification?🙄😒🤷♂️ Our reward? Being in Group A with Italy, Romania and the Czechs. Could have been worse I suppose The Nations League has also been drawn. Being in the top tier of that meant it was always going to be tough and we've got England again, along with Norn Iron and Portugal Oh and then there's this We've won the league, we lifted the FA Cup last season and also made the CL final. I think we've already not only challenged for but won silverware, don't you? Stupid FM!
Earnie is God!
Champions League Semi Final v Bayern and we took a 2-1 lead over to Germany. I knew it was going to be tough out there and our defensive record hasn't been great for months which was a concern as just a single goal for them would see them through on away goals. We managed to keep the tie very tight and defended well for a change. With the tie still 0-0 heading deep into injury time, there was a 95th goal which saw one of us into the final. Fortunately, it was Dronfield Town who will be attempting to go one better than a loss in the final from last season Liverpool thumped Chelsea over two legs and they are our opponents in the showpiece. I probably would have preferred a team from another league tbh but I have a tactical plan for Liverpool and am hopeful it will come good.
