What do people think the best roles are in a flat midfield 3?  

trying to Recreate Klopp style. 

Is it 2 mezzlas with a dlp in the centre?

b2b, dlp(s) and dlp(d) in the centre?

I'm playing b2b dlp(d) b2b the dlp acts like a quarterback.

i used to play with 2 boxtobox and the middle is center midfield with defend. DLP does not work as good for me

It really depends on the players and the tactic you devised in your mind.

Neither if you ask me 

I'd go with the following midfield trio:

CAR    DLPde    MEZsu

However, the rest of the setup is as important for a tactic to work (because nothing in football works in isolation).

Both wingers in Klopp's system cut inside, so I would imagine roles that more laterally. Mez or Car then. I am with Experienced Defender on this one. Car(S) on the side where you have a wing back bombing forward. MEZ on the other side, with a WB support or something. I would not have a fixed role in the middle. It would entirely depend on what the opposition wanted to do, and how I can best exploit that.

really depends on the players in front and behind though doesnt it?

if you have a wide man who is cutting inside then a mezzala tends to work well

Id probably partner a wide man who is staying wider with a carrilero or attack minded full back

really just depends
