Hello, and welcome to the latest in a long line of Northernpilgrim adventures.

So, let's get started, and meet the manager. ME!

Starting Point

Like many people, my first save of a new FM is with the team I support, which means I'm managing Plymouth Argyle

Club Vision

I forgot to include this originally, so the club vision screen is from October 2019, and shows how we're doing, and what's expected of us over the next few seasons. So far, so good

Preseason results were encouraging, as we gave Cardiff a stern test, going behind to a penalty just before half time, and only conceding a second in the final 10 minutes of the match. The Blackpool game was a horror show, but you get those in preseason, so I'm not panicking...yet

and this is the formation I'm using. I do change the mentality between standard and positive, and leave OIs to my Ass Man

November was a month of two halves. Three wins, followed by three draws

1998014162_Nov2019.thumb.PNG.530267f63140011e7005bc0a24adfa9d.PNG

but we remain top of the table, and the lead is still a healthy 7 points

and the good news is that the save will continue, as the hidden attributes bug has been fixed for saved games too

  • Northernpilgrim changed the title to [FM20] I'm here for a good time, and hopefully a long time. Taking Plymouth Argyle back where we belong.

December was a decent, but not brilliant month. The defeat to Cheltenham was completely deserved, and the victory over Stevenage was the sort of match that makes you think your name might be on the league title this season (i.e ridiculously lucky)

All of which leaves us 11 points clear at the top, the sound of Auld Lang Syne ringing in our ears

A message to Mansfield, Forest Green and the rest

Hey  manage Plymouth argyle too .I promoted them to league one
and even though i have a substantial wage budget to sign players (mainy free players)
when i sign one player either the board cancels the transfer or it freezes my wage salary
to 0 so i cant offer anything to them

It says something about finacial fair play and that i have to reduce my total wage expenses
(which is ridiculus because i just got promoted i should have bigger wage expenses)

anybody know anything about that?

Read the rules on Financial Fair Play.  It will either be in the league rules or finances section.  There will be a reason the transfers are being cancelled.

On to the League Two awards, and we begin with the Player of the Year, won by our own Joe Riley

915459772_POTY2020.thumb.PNG.b741b1a7c6dc3eb39649de704fd5d07e.PNG

and the team of the year, with no less than seven Pilgrims in the team

Danny Mayor did his best to fill the top three in Goal of the Season, but in the end had to settle for two out of three, which ain't bad

My Ass Man has recommended I promote one of my youngsters to the first team squad. He's made a few appearances IRL, so I have gone with that advice, and Adam Randell joins the squad for next season

The only negative for me (and it's a subjective one) is that nobody threatened the goalscoring charts this season. Here is how we spread the goals out

So, the plan originally was to get Argyle to the Championship, and then look at moving on. I hope that is still possible, but it certainly just got that bit harder, so it might be that I look to consolidate in League 1 this season (as per club vision), and then think about moving on. We will see.

Not a bad start to the season

1911562736_Aug2020.thumb.PNG.7f10ed94c78522513e977a19ffca07e8.PNG

but it could have been better, as we blew a 2-0 lead against Barnsley

 1133759881_vBarnsley2020.thumb.PNG.2b9bd6d40c8aab3595d0f057a457e230.PNG

and also let Rotherham take two late points from us

956920272_vRotherham2020.thumb.PNG.c6061770c521347b5c0ce95768fb467e.PNG

which means we missed the opportunity to end the month in at least a playoff place, but we are on target for survival, which is the aim this season

Pretty good start to the season.

It got better in September :)

and that was enough to take us up to third in League 1, but more importantly, with just over a quarter of the season gone, we're almost half way to safety

October started with a defeat, but was otherwise a really good month

1478651755_Oct2020.thumb.PNG.57442f352200fcaff992f23ddec1ebcd.PNG

and we could have got a result against Southend, but it could've been worse, as Alex Palmer was Man of the Match and saved a penalty

719986286_Southenda2020.thumb.PNG.c7b9df49a4cdb288c078c482ceb5cb46.PNG

8 points from 5 games moves us closer to the 50 point safety target, but has seen us fall out of the playoff spots

Good progress made with Plymouth, best of luck with The Posh!

Thanks Makoto. In some ways I'm disappointed to leave Argyle, but the transfer embargo means they have to sell players, so I would not have been able to sustain a challenge for promotion to the Championship. Hopefully Peterborough can get me there instead :)
