We are Eastern of the East, can we beat the West and become the Best

Recommended Posts

I am currently 18 seasons into my FM19 save in Hong Kong. I took charge of Dreams FC at the start of the save and have remained there ever since. In this save my aim is to either have Hong Kong win a world cup or make the Hong Kong league into the most reputable league in the world. In terms of domestic success we are the best team in Hong Kong by a country mile. We have done well in the continental competitions as well we have reached the Asian Champions League final 3 times, winning 2 and have been knocked out in the Semis 2 two times as well. I came third in the Club World Cup once too. The Hong Kong international team currently sit 69th in the world rankings and the league has the 14th highest reputation in Asia.

I will not be managing Hong Kong yet but I will post how they do as when they qualify for a World Cup. When I have made my team as good as they can be I may move around the league improving each team.

For those wondering I am using the unedited default FM 19 database.

After the league dropped in reputation ranking this season, I have decided to resign from Dreams FC and join Eastern AA. My aim this season with my new team is to finish in the top 3 and thus qualify for the Champions League qualifying rounds. As of February 2036 we currently sit in 4th position.

End of 2035-36 season

After joining my new team on 1st of February 2036, we finished the season in second place. Unfortunately we lost in the FA Cup semi final but we have the Champions League quarter final to look forward to in the new season.

Our best performing player will be hard to replace as he already had agreed a deal with my old team before I joined the club. Hong Kong currently sit in 68th place in the world rankings.

My aim for next season is to win a domestic trophy and challenge for the title.

2037 Asian Champions League update:

We were knocked out in the Semi Final stage getting thumped 6-1 over two legs by Shanghai SIPG. Although the way in which we were knocked out of the competition was not ideal, the fact we made it to the Semis was amazing. This is especially true since it was the first time the team had made it into the group stages in 15 seasons.

Unfortunately we missed out in the next campaign losing on penalties in the final qualifying round before the group stages.

End of 2036-37 season:

In my first full season in charge of Eastern AA we managed to end Dreams FC 17 consecutive league title wins by winning it ourselves and 3 other cups along the way.

Hong Kong managed to qualify for the World Cup in 2038 and are currently 66th in the world rankings.

The Hong Kong First Division has risen up 2 places and now stands as  the 14th most reputable league in Asia. Hong Kong will play U.S.A and Austria, who are ranked 15th and 21st, in the World Cup group stage. The furthest they have gone in a World Cup is the Second Round which they did in their World Cup Debut in 2030. Can they make it out of their group for only the second time in their history?

End of 2037-38 season:

This season we managed to retain our league title. We also won the FA Cup and the Sapling Cup. In the Champions League we made it out of the group stage, but lost in the 2nd round to Shanghai SIPG. We got an unlucky draw for this round as we lost to the team who we played a season earlier in the Semis. However, this time we did not get smashed. It was a more respectable 4-3 loss over the two legs.

Hong Kong failed to get out of their World Cup group. The sit in 63rd place in the World Rankings, which is a record high.

My aim for the coming seasons is to get as far as we can in the continental competitions and use the prize money to gradually improve the clubs facilities.

It would be great to have a second stadium named after me in Hong Kong. But I do not have club legend status just yet. :D

End of 2038/39 season:

We won two trophies this season and was knocked out of the other two cup competitions on penalties. We did not win the league. Although we only lost one game in the league and had the best goal difference. My former team, Dreams FC were just untouchable with their unbeaten league season and they conceded only one goal in the league all year. I did get revenge on them as we beat them in the FA Cup final 3-1. We do have a Champions League quarter final to look forward to at the start of next season.

The Hong Kong League's reputation has not changed since last season. The National team currently sit in 60th place in the World rankings.

End of 2039/40 season:

At the start of the season we lost 0-1 in both legs of the Champions League Semi-Final to Kashima Antlers from Japan. We made it third time lucky and finally beat Shanghai in the Quarter Final. Shanghai have knocked us out twice of this competition in the past few seasons. We did not win the league again this season but it was much closer than last season with Dreams FC winning it on the last day by 2 points. They also knocked us out of the Senior Challenge Shield and FA Cup. However, we got our revenge beating them in the Community Cup. We won the Sapling Cup on penalties against HKFC as well.

For the first time ever in this save there was two teams from Hong Kong in the Champions League knock out rounds. Unfortunately my former team was knocked in the 2nd round losing 5-2 on aggregate to Shanghai. They did win the first leg 2-1 though which shows promise for the league and country as a whole.

Going into next season we another Asian Champions League Quarter Final tie to look forward to. Hong Kong are ranked 59th in the World rankings.
