EVERTON'S MUSSO BID REJECTED

Blucerchiati Messaggero: Sampdoria have knocked back a £2.8M bid from Everton for their 31 year-old goalkeeper Juan Musso. Musso was Blucerchiat's number one goalkeeper last season but may well find himself under considerable pressure o hold onto the goalkeeping gloves from new signing 24 year-old Matteo Soncin.

SWANSEA SIGN SHELVEY

Blucerchiati Messaggero: Sampdoria's 24 year-old goalkeeper George Shelvey has completed a £200K move to Swansea City. It's understood that manager Stuniverse considered Shelvey the fourth goalkeeper at the club, slipping down to fifth once Matteo Soncin arrived, and wasn't happy that Shelvey was taking up a nonEU player slot.

Stuniverse has overhauled the goalkeeping department in the short time he's been here, offloading three goalkeepers in Gergely HutvagnerLeonardo Marson and now George Shelvey and bringing in Matteo Soncin.

STUNIVERSE AND MUSSO IN HEATED DISCUSSION

Blucerchiati Messaggero: We understand that Sampdoria's 31 year-old goalkeeper Juan Musso was unhappy that a potential £2.8M move to Everton was rejected by manager Stuniverse. Club captain Gianluca Caprari was unable to placate Musso.

Manager Stuniverse, together with first-team coach Francesco Baiano acting as translator, talked to Juan Musso and was able to placate him.

Does anybody know how to change a player's Playing Time status?

Edited: Thanks to @Mercia, on another thread, I've been able to sort this.

Juan Musso is now set as my Cup Goalkeeper behind my #1 Matteo Soncin.

20250807_Musso_PlayingTime3.thumb.png.7baf632c950834f811d84b519a6c9390.png

I've recently taken over as manager at Sampdoria, as you know, and my predeccessor had set my goalkeeper Juan Musso's status as 'emergency back-up' and he's unhappy. Understandably, because I see him as far better than emergency back-up, but I can't work out how to change it. Can anybody help me please?

20250807_Musso_emergency_backup.png.b6211c4a3b87232979cbb2aee6a40528.png

Many thanks.

Pre-match v Parma (H) - Pre-season friendly (7)

Match Preview

F7_Parma_preview.thumb.png.5d10e688ea23f82b9ff7ac0236b9b402.png

Blucerchiati Messaggero: Just two more friendly matches and then you're off to the Olimpico to kick-off your Serie A campaign away to Lazio. Are you ready?

FR7_Parma_results.thumb.jpg.64b88cc9b1b8c460879e30053b0ca460.jpg

Francesco Baiano (Sampdoria coach): We're getting there. We're unbeaten in six pre-season friendlies, and we probably should've won the two we drew. Overall, we're pleased with how things are going so far and we'll be ready for Lazio in eight days time.

F7_Parma_schedule.thumb.png.54697aabcbcac814caa9e46cfec40521.png

Blucerchiati Messaggero: What are your plans for Parma today and FeralpiSalo away in midweek?

Francesco Baiano: Today is our only home friendly at Stadio Luigi Ferraris against a Parma side who've had mixed fortunes in pre-season so far, winning one, drawing one and losing one against Italian lower league teams. We want to put on a good performance for our fans and send them home with smiles on their faces, looking forward to the new season.

We'll be putting out a strong team, not necessarily the team that will start against Lazio, but a strong team all the same as we want to win this one.

F7_Parma_Parma_schedule.thumb.png.f3f369d02f024f9b77700c7b9223208d.png

Blucerchiati Messaggero: And against FeralpiSalo in midweek?

Francesco Baiano: The FeralpiSalo game will be more about fitness and getting playing time into the legs of players who haven't featured as much as we would've liked so far this pre-season.

FR7_Parma_linetty0.jpg.6d62cadc2d812d1575a06b85e79526b7.jpg

FR7_Parma_linetty1.thumb.jpg.d7973a01ddf0a23bab3b7cd43180bf33.jpg

Blucerchiati Messaggero: What's the current situation with Linetty?

Francesco Baiano: It's a... er... no situation, really. Karol Linetty is our highest paid player [£99k p/w], but he wants to leave to play European competition which we can't offer him this season. We tried to convince him he could achieve that here at Stadio Luigi Ferraris if he's patient, but Karol's 30, he's been here since July 2016, and he feels he's been more than patient and can't wait any longer. We understand that.

Stuniverse signed Alessandro Murgia and Salvatore Esposito so that we could let Karol go but... here's the thing... nobody wants to buy him. Our Director of Football Carlo Osti has asked around and it seems nobody is willing to meet Karol's wage demands.

So... no situation, actually. It's a no situation.

Blucerchiati Messaggero: And now you have too many midfielders?

Francesco Baiano: Si, maybe... si. But that's a nice problem to have because they are all very good players... and it's Stuniverse's problem to worry over, not mine.

Unavailable: Ricardo Esgaio (twisted ankle).

Doubtful: Vito Grandini (pulled ankle ligaments-45).

83 minutes.

Sampdoria came close to restoring their two goal lead when Antonio Barreca crossed into the box and Lawrence Shankland's header skimmed the top of the crossbar.

Solid away point there against Lazio, and I bet it feels even better given the late equalizer. Judging from the match stats (which isn't always advisable) it looks like you were good value for it too.

Thanks, @Tajerio. It was a very even game which, given Lazio finished 4th last season and we finished 14th, gives me a lot of confidence for the season. We edged the first-half and deserved to be 1-0 ahead at the break. Lazio improved second-half and I was gutted when they went 2-1 up. We went for it and got a deserved equaliser late on. Even the Lazio manager, Zinedine Zidane, admitted we deserved the draw.

Juventus (home) and Inter (away) next. What have we done to deserve to be facing three of last season's top four in our opening three fixtures?

Sampdoria v Juventus - Serie A (2)

Team Selection

Sampdoria make THREE changes.

IN: Andrea Cristana (DC), Karol Linetty (MC), Jakub Jankto (MC),

OUT: Chancel Mbemba (DC), Alessandro Murgia (MC), Matteo Frau (MC),

Highlights

SA2_Juventus_lineups.thumb.png.259331cc36b7dcffcd69c81a709a9bc0.png

17 minutes.

A long ball from Ake put Dybala clean through with only Sampdoria's goalkeeper Matteo Soncin to beat, but his shot hit the outside of the near post and went out for a goal-kick.

24 minutes.

Juventus hit the post a second time when Ake crossesd the ball and Bailey headed it against the crossbar.

25 minutes.

SA2_Juventus_42DM31.thumb.png.4c463e33a92b2f0cb112b18d11c821a3.png

Sampdoria change to a 4-2DM-3-1 CAUTIOUS system.

26 minutes.

Incredibly, Juventus hit the woodwork a third time when Pellegrini heads Salah's corner against the post.

HT: Sampdoria 0-0 Juventus

62 minutes.

SA2_Juventus_0-1.thumb.png.bd156199222a2a5f87911f46bb3e3cb8.png

Juventus finally grabbed the lead their commanding play deserved thanks to a brilliant individual goal from Bailey.

64 minutes.

SA2_Juventus_442.thumb.png.fd6bffa7598ac83a5cbb58259da3ca02.png

Sampdoria change to an ATTACKING 4-4-2.

78 minutes.

SA2_Juventus_0-2.thumb.png.c9bb78a0badc196104fbe9d0ddabf026.png

Juventus doubled their lead when Bailey did really well to keep the ball from going out for a goal-kick, crossed low to the near post, and Dybala slid in to stab the ball home. Sampdoria claimed the ball had gone out of play before the cross, but the referee was having none of it.

Rough start to your Serie A career but you weren't given the easiest schedule to start the season. The squad has some attacking power to it but it still seems like the squad is still trying to gel together. Also I apologize for this but Forza Juventus.

I couldn’t believe it when the fixtures came out, @JaytheGreat. Three of the top four in our opening three Serie A games, two away from home.

The Lazio game was pretty even and a draw, probably, a fair result. Juventus battered us and hit the woodwork three times, they easily could’ve had five or six. Inter were better than us, but not by much. I probably should’ve shut up shop when we clawed it back to 3-3, but I thought we could go on and win it. Instead, we lost it.

Won 0, drawn 1, lost 2 isn’t a great start but at least we’ve only got to play those three juggernauts one more time.
