The Bhoys: Dundee United won 1-0 the last time you played them here at Tannadice Park. Is there a danger they could beat you again?

Stuniverse: Of course there's a chance of that. I've said all along that the Premiership is a competitive division and its testimony to how hard my players work in training and their dilligence in applying that in games of football that we're thirty-odd points clear of the next team. But, on any given day, anybody can beat anybody, I've always said that. We take nothing for granted.

But that defeat to Dundee United annoyed us greatly. We were looking good for an unbeaten season and Stuart McCall and his side took that away from us. We want to set the record straight at Tannadice Park and we're confident of getting a positive result this time out.

Unavailable: Scott McKenna (suspended), Fraser Hornby (pulled calf muscle), Scott McTominay (abdominal strain), Finn Ecrepont (torn knee ligaments).

Doubtful: Scott McKellar (tight hamstring-90), Jordan Ross (bruised ankle-90).

SP36_Rangers_report.thumb.png.bbf770c4ba23ed83e5a64903409b51b6.png

The Bhoys: Beating Rangers for the fifth time this season takes your points tally to 101. Congratulations. If you win your remaining two matches you'll set a new Celtic and Premiership record of 107 points. Can you do it?

Stuniverse: The mentality and character we demand at Celtic Park means we aim to win every single game we play so, yes, we're determined to win both our remaining games and break that record. This is a magnificent Celtic squad and the players deserve to claim that record for their own.

A CHAT WITH STAN

Stanley Baryla (Stuniverse's agent): Hi, Stuniverse. A fantastic win over Rangers. I really enjoyed that one. Thanks for the tickets.

Stuniverse: You're welcome, Stan. Glad you enjoyed it. The Lazio, job?

Stanley Baryla: Yeah, it became available last night after the Euro Cup defeat. Diego [Simeone] had been a dead man walking for a few weeks now.

20250508_Lazio_sack_diego_simeone4.thumb.png.a51ce91ed4b3511c1161badfdba5c02d.png

Stuniverse: Can you let them know I'm interested?

Stanley Baryla: Are you sure? Lazio are fourth in Serie A. Fourth! They made the EURO Cup semi-final. And that wasn't good enough for them. It'll be a high pressure job with massive expectations. Diego survived less than a year.

20250508_Lazio_SerieA_Top6th.thumb.png.96f4cde23551f51e849ea373813de648.png

Stuniverse: We'll worry about that if I get an interview and if they offer me the job. Will you let them know I'm interested please?

Stanley Baryla: Sure. Leave it with me.

SP37_Inverness_report.thumb.png.3c21b92f7cfeac33ec7033ffef95cdf5.png

The Bhoys: That was disappointing. You dominated the game but failed to score and, in doing so, or rather not doing so, you won't be able to set a record points tally this season.

SP37_Inverness_Eastwood.png.9801638029a7a34447f23ff1a6766ddc.png

Stuniverse: I agree. It's disappointing. And we wanted that record but, let's not forget, our 102 points from 37 games is pretty damn impressive. We did everything today except score and, credit where credit's due, their goalkeeper Jake Eastwood played the game of his life out there to thwart us. You won't witness many better goalkeeping displays than that.

STUNIVERSE SPOTTED AT OLIMPICO

The Bhoys: Celtic manager Stuniverse was in the crowd at the Olimpico tonight as managerless Lazio lost 3-1 at home to Fiorentina. The Italian media don't appear to be linking Stuniverse with the Lazio managerial vacancy and have assumed he was scouting fellow Englishman Mason Mount, who scored the opening goal of the game to give Lazio a first-half lead.

Yes, @JaytheGreat, it does. But imagine if I was able to make Lazio successful...

I'm not expecting to get the job though. My reputation is close to Lazio's reputation but I think Lazio may be a level above where the FM20 footballing word sees my ability...

The Bhoys: Celtic manager Stuniverse was seen at the Pier Cesare Tombolato tonight as Cittadella lost 2-0 to Lazio. The media are reporting that Stuniverse was scouting Mason Mount but, given Stuniverse's track record for 'exploring his options' during the summer whilst at Falkirk and Hibs, we're wondering whether he's more interested in the managerial vacancy at Lazio.

Remember, Stuniverse was under contract at Hibernian when he agreed to become Celtic manager in the summer of 2023.

The Bhoys: Did you enjoy your trips to Italy?

Stuniverse: Yes, thank you. We took a couple of short breaks while the players were given some time off, first we went to the historic city of Rome and then later to the beautiful medieval walled city of Cittadella.

The Bhoys: Both times you watched Lazio play, are you keen to become their next manager?

SP38_Hibs_mycontract.thumb.png.c2130bcb6bd9845d7b78644915b3bd12.png

Stuniverse: I'm under contract to Celtic for another two seasons and I've had no personal contact about the vacant manager's job with anybody from Lazio. If Diego Simeone wasn't good enough for them, I seriously doubt I will be.

Unavailable: Stuart Findlay (suspended), Steven Harrison (sprained ankle ligaments).

Doubtful: Fraser Hornby (pulled calf muscle-90), Scott McKenna (pulled thigh-90), Scott McTominay (abdominal strain-45), Finn Ecrepont (torn knee ligaments-45).

Post match: Celtic 0-2 Hibernian - Ladbrokes Premiership (38), Championship Group

SP38_Hibs_report.thumb.png.fad4cafd5ba76ccc25ef4449b089a7e9.png

The Bhoys: That was pathetic. No wonder your side was booed off on the final whistle. How do you explain it?

Stuniverse: I want to apologise to the fans. They've been outstanding all season, always getting behind the players and giving them a lift. This wasn't how we wanted to thank them for their tremendous support all season.

I can understand the fans frustration at losing at home but, being totally honest, our performance wasn't that bad. We bossed the game and dominated possession. We had 24 attempts on goal, whereas Hibs had a mere four. Our problem was that we only got four on target, and that's a problem, we didn't test the goalkeeper enough. Hibs, on the other hand, were unbelievably ruthless, testing our goalkeeper Robby McCrorie with each of their four attempts and scoring twice.

SP38_Hibs_stats.thumb.png.473939b80c68129ad8a60a1b82a86ec6.png

The Bhoys: That's twice you've drawn a blank now on the spin. 0-0 against Inverness last week and 0-2 today against Hibs. You'll need to do a lot better at Hampden Park next weekend otherwise Kilmarnock will be lifting the Scottish Cup and not Celtic.

Stuniverse: You're right. We do. And we will. For most of the season we've not had a problem scoring goals but, for completely different reasons, we've failed to score in the last two. Against Inverness, their goalkeeper Jake Eastwood played unbelievably well to keep the ball out of his net. On another day, we easily score three or four. Today, we just didn't get enough efforts on target and we didn't test their goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray anywhere near enough. We have to do much better at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup Final and we will.

The Bhoys: Maybe if you spent less time in Italy, and more time in Scotland working with the players, they might actually go out there and put a shift in for you!

I’d love to @enigmatic, as I hear it is very pretty indeed. Sadly, Mrs Stuniverse has said no because the German football season appears to be over (at least in Hoffenheim it is)  and Mrs Stuniverse does love to take in a football game on our short breaks 🤣

I think if we win the Scottish Cup Final against Kilmarnock and complete the domestic treble then all will be forgiven. If not... we’ll let’s just say we’ve all had a briefing from Lucy Russell, our Press Officer, about how she’ll deal with it.

Pre-match v Kilmarnock (N) - Scottish Cup Final

zzzz_lucy-russell_celtic_press_officer.png.02102f49e5c430267f325760029efc85.png

Lucy Russell (Celtic Press Officer): I just want to remind you all that we're here to talk about the Scottish Cup Final against Kilmarnock. Stuniverse will not be answering questions on anything else. Thank you.

The Bhoys: In your last two matches, a draw against Inverness and a loss to your former club Hibernian, your Celtic team failed to sore a goal in either match. You'll need to score against Kilmarnock if Celtic are to lift the Scottish Cup, and you'll be without your top goalscorer. How are you going to get the team scoring again?

Stuniverse: As I've said before, we played well in both those games. Against Inverness, their goalkeeper Jake Eastwood denied us. Against Hibs, we only had ourselves to blame because we didn't work their goalkeeper enough. We've reviewed the two games, discussed as a team where we can improve, and we've worked on putting things right on training ground.

If yesterday's team meeting is anything to go by, the players are completely focussed on getting the result today and we're confident that this time, unlike last year, we'll be the ones celebrating when the Scottish Cup Final is over.

Lucy Russell (Celtic Press Officer): I just want to remind you all that we're here to talk about Celtic defeating Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup Final. Stuniverse will not be answering questions on anything else. Thank you.

The Bhoys: Congratulations on winning the Scottish Cup and completing a fantastic domestic treble.

Stuniverse: Thank you. We did the double last season and lost narrowly in the Scottish Cup Final. That hurt us, and we had the whole summer to dwell on it, but we came back for pre-season determined to better last season's double by winning the treble. I'm delighted we were able to do that for the fans.

We wanted the treble, and the players thoroughly deserve it for all the hard work they've put in this season. After last year, the Scottish Cup was the one we really wanted and we're all buzzing.

Stuniverse (Celtic manager):

SC_F_Kilmarnock_post-stuniverse.thumb.png.5a10f4ec6225d4415ef09c5eb3a82331.png

The Bhoys: Can you follow this up with another domestic treble next season and, maybe, even a good run in Europe?

Stuniverse: This is an amazing squad, with a great balance of experienced players and younger players who are going to improve. We've worked hard to transition to a Scottish squad and I'm delighted we've been able to achieve what we have achieved with a squad almost entirely made up of Scottish players with a sprinkle of Irish and English players.

There's a lot of quality in this Celtic squad and I have the utmost confidence in them continuing to be the major force in Scottish football for many seasons to come. The real challenge is in Europe and we saw this season that Celtic have a lot still to do to become competitive in Europe.

The Bhoys: Will you still be Celtic manager next season?

zzzz_lucy-russell_celtic_press_officer.png.ac1422a8d4535849c6793677877c1f27.png

Lucy Russell (Celtic Press Officer): That concludes this press conference. Thank you everybody. Until next season.

The Bhoys: The grass isn’t always greener, Stuniverse, just ask Neil Lennon about that!

STUNIVERSE FAVOURITE FOR LAZIO JOB

The Bhoys: Celtic manager Stuniverse was at the Olimpico today to watch Lazio lose 1-0 at home to Lecce. This is the third time in as many weeks that Stuniverse has attended a Lazio match and the media are now reporting that Stuniverse is interested in becoming the next Lazio manager.

Italian bookmakers have reacted by installing Stuniverse as the 5-2 favourite to be appointed Lazio manager.

TALKING THINGS THROUGH

Stuniverse: Morning, Stan.

Stanley Baryla (Stuniverse's agent): Hi Stuniverse. Congratulations on winning the Scottish Cup and the treble. It looked a tough game against Kilmarnock but you won. I know how much winning the treble meant to you. I was thrilled for you.

Stuniverse: Cheers. Have you heard anything?

Stanley Baryla: From Lazio? No. Your application is in and hasn't been discarded, I have confirmation of that, but no, there's been nothing else. I think they are still drawing up their shortlist. As far as I'm aware, they haven't interviewed anybody yet. Of course, Serie A has just finished, they have all summer, and Serie A doesn't start until late August so there's no rush. Have you decided what to do about Celtic?

Stuniverse: Yes and No. It's one of those heart and head things. Celtic is a great club, but in two seasons we've won two Premierships, two Betfred Cups and one Scottish Cup. We finished 31 points ahead of Rangers and 37 points ahead of 3rd placed Inverness. We’ve won everything there is to win domestically.

My heart says stay, win more trophies, honour your contract until it expires at the end of May 2027 but then my head says I need more of a challenge.

Stanley Baryla: I can't tell you what to do, Stuniverse. Neil Lennon left Celtic for Napoli, they finished 2nd and made the semi-finals of the EURO Cup, and he got sacked at the end of his first season. Take Lazio, a team I know you're keen on and have watched in person, they finished 4th this season, lost in the EURO Cup semis, and Diego Simeone got sacked at the end of his first season. Milan have just sacked Zinedine Zidane---

Stuniverse: I know, I'm interested in Milan too.

Stanley Baryla: I thought you would be, we'll discuss that in a moment. Milan finished 6th, lost in the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup, and Zinedine got sacked at the end of his first season. Serie A is brutal. The life expectancy of a manager in Italy's top flight isn't very long at all.

Stuniverse: I need more of a challenge, Stan. Compared to Falkirk and Hibs, both challenging, very enjoyable jobs, Celtic is... well, frankly, it's been too easy, Europe aside, it's been too easy. Celtic are richer than any other Scottish club by a country mile, I had more money available to me than I could actually spend, virtually every Scottish player wants to play for Celtic, not all, but most, and whilst it's fun and enjoyable winning all the time, it's not challenging or stimulating enough for me. At times, this season, it was like going through the motions and I'm not sure I want another two seasons of that.

Stanley Baryla: OK. I get you. There's definitely more challenging jobs available presently, whether they will employ an Englishman who only speaks English, remains to be seen, and they don't have much patience and are very trigger happy. Top flight jobs available now are Lazio, which you've already applied for, Milan, Saint-Etienne and Hoffenheim.

Stuniverse: Let's apply for all of those. I'd prefer Italy right now. But let's apply for them all.

Stanley Baryla: Got you. I'm on it. There's some sleeping giants if you want to go Tier 2, Auxerre, Bordeaux, Düsseldorf...

Stuniverse: No, let's stick with the four we’ve mentioned for now. Anything else likely to become available?

jobs_possibly_available_soon.thumb.png.f78bc32127a06117cdd803c81f80b264.png

Stanley Baryla: You know I can't guarantee anything but, from what I hear on the grapevine, in Serie A both Napoli and Sampdoria could be pulling the trigger soon, possibly Atletico Madrid and Valencia in La Liga, maybe Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga and maybe Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League. There's a few others as well where the manager is under real pressure, but I think those are the ones you'd be most interested in. There could be some jobs available in Tukey, Russia and the Ukraine but we won't know about them until late June [when leagues become playable in the save].

Stuniverse: OK. Well I'm not going to express an interest while they still have managers in place. It's not right. I wouldn't like it if someone did that to me, so I won't do that to someone else.

Stanley Baryla: Understood. So, have you decided what to do about Celtic? We spoke a couple of weeks ago about quitting after the Cup Final?

celtic.thumb.png.6b9a516314358dd075bfe0af19e03df2.png

Stuniverse: We did. I'm torn. Heart and Head, like I said earlier. Pros and cons?

Stanley Baryla: Short-term, positive I think. If you leave Celtic, then there's no compensation for a new employer to pay Celtic and you're available right away. That could help you get interviews straight away as we know that compensation was a big issue for Marseille. Of course, it won't improve your chances of getting an interview and it may put some teams off if they value loyalty and honouring contracts.

Stuniverse: Owners are quick enough to sack managers though, they rarely give us the time needed to turn a club around if major surgery is required. Downsides?

Stanley Baryla: You've just won a domestic treble, you've won five out of six domestic trophies in the last two seasons, your stock is pretty high right now, but that doesn't guarantee anything, you understand, as all the clubs you're interested in play in a league ranked higher than the Scottish Premiership.

The big risk is if you don't land a job this summer. Your stock won't get any higher while you're unemployed and the longer you're without a job your stock will start to fall. Owners have short memories and your successes will soon be replaced by he hasn't managed in a while, there must be a reason for that.

Stuniverse: Well, let's hope I get another job sooner rather than later.

Stanley Baryla: I think you know what you have to do.

Stuniverse: Yes, I do, with a very sad heart. Thanks, Stan, you have things to do. Keep me updated.

Stanley Baryla: Will do. Good luck.

Stuniverse: Cheers, Stan.

STUNIVERSE LEAVES CELTIC

The Bhoys: Two seasons after former Celtic manager Neil Lennon left Celtic for Napoli in Serie A, it's a case of de ja vu for Celtic fans as Stuniverse has resigned as manager of Celtic with Italy looking like his most likely next destination.

During his spell at Celtic, Stuniverse managed 114 matches, winning 87, drawing 12 and losing 15. Under Stuniverse, Celtic won the Premiership twice, the Betfred Cup twice, and the Scottish Cup.

Assistant Manager Jari Litmanen and coaches Mark Hudson and Steve Wigley have also left Celtic Park.
