Another good month, although Barnet ended our unbeaten streak and York brought us crashing down to earth. But a good win against 2nd placed Bromley picked us back up, and it is looking like a real possibility that we are playoff bound.

We didn't really put a foot wrong this month, but it wasn't enough. But I am not too disappointed, we certainly exceeded expectations.

Preseason 2024

An excellent preseason if I do say so myself, culminating in a big win over Leeds!

Transfers

Very quiet, although I extended the loans of Baker and Morton.

Jamie Woods (Barnsley): He looks excellent and will hopefully star for us throughout the season.

Really just trimming the fat with these departures.

I'm more than happy to be predicted 11th, but I will be looking to push for the playoffs again.

It appears as though we've used up all our wins already. You'll also see that I added a familiar face, Rob Harker, back to the club after he was released by Hull, and he repaid that with a goal in his first game back. But this form so far has been very Jekyll & Hyde.

Good season Shaun. Making slow and steady progress.

Thanks Nobby, I'm liking the slow progress. It's definitely to do with the fact that we only have a limited pool of players. No one in the higher divisions are interested in playing for us and the ones that are aren't first team players so I'm having to be really really selective. Even raiding the expiring youth contracts don't work because we can't afford the compensation. I still might try and scout all the youth players I can find in the higher divisions though on the off chance they want to play on loan with us.

I love scrolling past a set of fixtures seeing nothing but green then literally the next screenshot is nothing but orange and red haha. It's typical of this game at times.

It's just the perks of being in non league football I guess!

A bit of normalcy has resumed, it seems. Pretty positive month overall, and we managed to win our first FA Cup game in 3 years! We face Halifax in the 1st Round, who are currently storming through the Vanarama North League.

Great career story so far, really well written and just enjoyable to read through - keep it up!

Was quite funny to see that your goal of the season, last season was Frazier Campbell's goal to make you win against Aldershot

An excellent month. The most notable game I'd say would be the win against Halifax, in which we were down 2-0 at half time. I got into the boys at half time and they score 3 goals in 15 minutes (plus an own goal) to put us into the next round. Yes, we lost to Fleetwood in that next round, but that was a match that was certainly winnable. That being said it was still a great performance!

Aiden Marsh (Barnsley): I'm not sure if he's really needed, but that pace and finishing was too tempting to ignore. He's already scored for us too!

A pretty good month in the grand scheme of things, especially given the fact that we've made the FA Trophy Final, where we will play fellow Yorkshire side York City.  We're into our last month of games, and once again it's beginning to look real close around the top 10. We do have that game in hand, but knowing us we're bound to blow it.

We stumbled and stuttered to the end of this with playoffs on the line, as I knew we would. But would we still make it?

7f0458a5cb4407b9ef3b53d20cbe8adc.png

You bet we did! Also fair play to Cheltenham, conceding a mere 15 goals in 46 games, essentially a goal every three games. Just nuts.

We did well to make the semis, before York flogged us. York then showed up again to break our hearts in the FA Trophy final on penalties. At least we won't have to see them next year. Overall it was a really solid season and perhaps next year we can make an even bigger push without fading away at the end.

Weird that Harker was our signing of the season, he did absolutely nothing. I guess loans don't count.

2025 Preseason

de3c4dd53c07b9223e123e219723a1b8.png

A preseason that was par for the course, winning the matches we should've and also losing the matches we should've.

Transfers

I went wild this preseason by my standards, looking to get as much depth as possible for rotation. Woods rejoins us after a stellar season last year.

Steve Kearns (Huddersfield): Depth piece at the back.

Kane Leverton (Huddersfield): He's in the first team and has plenty more room for improvement.

Sean Considine (Huddersfield): Backup midfielder, but like the previous two has potential.

Jordan Austin (Leeds): Snapped him up after he was released from Wolves. Backup option up front.

Alex Stuart (Barnsley): Our star recruit for the year, he will anchor our backline.

Samuel Edmondson (Rotherham): Formerly of Sheffield Wednesday, he's a backup to Scott in goal.

Couldn't have asked for a better first game in a flogging of Gateshead. This was followed by demolitions of Maidenhead and Billericay before things settled down into boring draws again.

Brought Morton back to bolster the attack, and Jerry Smith (Accrington) jumps onto the wing so Matty Downing can play at CB.

After the poor display against Chester I was afraid it'd be exactly like last season where a good start was spoiled by a horrible second month. Despite the loss to Yeovil it didn't prove to be the case, with good wins against Barnet and Halifax.

Apparently we can beat everyone except the team coming last  That being said, another incredible month, that win over Stockport was a pivotal moment as it paved the way to where we now sit: at the top of the table.

True to form, we've had a bit of a blip but that's due to month-long injuries to Woods (starting AM), Stuart (starting CB) and Smith (starting WB), that crippled us. This, coupled with silly red cards have cost us the league lead.

We had a great month, but so did Stockport, and they remain top of the table despite losing to us. We do have a game in hand though, but only winning will put us top. Gateshead are finishing with a head of steam as well. We've sealed a playoff spot, but I don't want it.

A pretty good preseason I'd say!

Transfers

7c07a3be993dd2faad579140b04713fe.png

I'm desperate to stay in the Football League, so I raided as much as I can. I've more than likely crippled our finances for a long time, but if we stay up I don't really care. The first money I've ever spent in this save were for our loan players last season, so I could redirect our loans elsewhere, but we've only gotten one. That being said, we've strengthened every area of the squad and we have depth. I have a good feeling we can stay up.
