2022/2023 - End of Season Update - CHAMPIONS!!!!

So, 10 years ago I lead the mighty Dinamo to the National League Championship...

The League

And at the end of 2023 we became Premier League Champions for the first time in the Club's history.  It has been a marvelous journey, but not only that with 4 games to go we had the possibility to do the Invincible season (as per the last update).

The results went well, although in the end it was a crawl rather than a run...

  image.thumb.png.0c9bb72b0a44a9f9eecf510e6a5d2386.png

It was the win, at home to Nizhniy Novgorod sealing the title in the end (beating Khimki would have done it but a late equaliser stopped us).

image.thumb.png.42588fa76d126702674361042d47df0e.png

This is the first time since FM14 I have won a top league in Football Manager...

The Europa League

After coming second in the group meant we returned from the winter break early to play in the First Knock-out Round where we were drawn against FC København.

image.thumb.png.bc4238df0b1332663a999a5367951a16.png

Brushing them aside easily, lead to a Second Knock-out Round tie with SS Lazio.

image.thumb.png.6fcc27e488d91028e8d6bc8731c22ed5.png

Despite the comfortable win at home, we actually nearly through it away in Rome.  Couldn't believe what we were watching.  But we made it through, and our prize for it was another  trip to Italy, this time to face Juventus.  This did not go so well with two close defeats...

image.thumb.png.9710e812b191c7e9b2b2fe5d421ec368.png

So once again, a quarter final exit.

Some bad news was had about future Europe though, we lost a Champions League place.

The Youth

Arsen Giraev (33a), 17 - A young striker, who could lead the line in a few years time.

image.thumb.png.79f92da0d7c482a31d7d83fb6992b3de.png

Denis Semenov (33b), 16 - Young attacking midfielder who is being re-trained into a centre midfielder (Only one of my formations use an AMC)

image.thumb.png.f4c44174ce7aa9c9a7d1096d4c9bfc16.png

Alexandr Shishkin(33c), 16 - Young Right Back, who will likely spend most of the first few years in the 2nd Team.

image.thumb.png.f8f84ea694e5726b9ca0a81cd6627020.png

Vitaly Rubstov (33d), 16 - Young left winger who could be ready to be back-up already (we're that short on the left).  Although will likely be a season in the 2nd.

image.thumb.png.c3a3dfb210dc00462a75e504d3b02589.png

Vasily Ivanov (33e), 17 - Young Centre Back, who although far from the quality of the starters, he is right in line with the backups.

At a Glance

As you will see our Youth Facilities have dropped due to "technology" but Recruitment and Coaching are "Excellent".  We have the board upgrading the Youth Facilities again

2033/2034 - Quick Update - Till We Meet Again :(

I really should have added this to the above update, but these two deserve a thread of their own.  For over 10 years they have battle away for the Club.  Giving their all, but today (30 June 2034) both Vitaly Makeev (20c) and Stanislav Voronov (21a) will both leave the club when their contracts run out later today.

Vitaly Makeev (20c)

The midfielder joined the club through the Youth Academy the March before I joined the Club and although he spent most of the first few years on loan or with the 2nd Club, only beginning to start in the Premier League for many years he became a regular. For seven of those years, being vice-captain.  Sadly latterly he has become even less than a bit-part player, but leaves as the Club Captain of the Premier League Champions.  He ended his career with 212 games for either Dinamo Bryansk or Bryansk-2

image.thumb.png.36991fb77297ff3d9bf1ca1af069811c.png

Stanislav Voronov (21a)

The Centre Back was one of the first youth players to come through the Dinamo Bryansk youth system as me as Manager, graduating in the 2020/21 season.  Right from the start, he was a main stay, playing week in week out, winning the National League in his second season.  He also won 4 Fans Young Player of the Year awards and 3 Fans Player of the Year awards.   In the end he managed 251 league games and 16 league goals

Thank you both for your service!

Yes agree with you on that, probably mine also

Season 2022/23 Review

League | FA Cup | FA Trophy | Transfers | Squad

On paper a good season, and it was, but can't help but feel frustrated by it. We started well and were battling it out with AFC Telford all season, swapping places several times. With 16 games to go though we lost key right winger Michael Donohue to a back injury for 3 months. 9 goals and 6 assists by that stage was too much for us to replace with kids or players out of position and as a result our form tailed off. We only won 6 games from that point on. We did have a chance of overtaking Telford again with 4 games to go we faced them away from home, took an early lead before a red card after 10 mins changed our entire team and we ended up on the end of a 4-1 hammering. During this run I did try and change our system but the goals dried up so I quickly went back to the almost route one like 442 and we got better. In the end we finished 3rd and the playoffs. We faced York at home and didn't turn up. 3-0 down at the break we did pull 2 goals back before having a further 2 ruled out for offside before they broke and scored again. We pulled another back in injury time but it was too late and we have another season at this level.

In the cups there was very little to talk about as we won our first games in both before getting knocked out by sides we probably should have beat.

Youth Intake - I remembered to take the screenshot this time! It's a good one for the level we're at, can't ever knock a intake with 6 5* potential players in (even if none are likely to reach that) not overly happy with the personalty types but it's something we're working on fixing so we'll see how that goes

Karanja Henry 22A - good looking attacker here, we don't play with an AMC but could be used as the forward in my 433 if we do change.
Moses Duru 22B - added depth at the back, not sure he'll make a good CB so will likely have to play at RB
Tommi Jarvinen 22C - right winger, will likely be retrained too, either as an attacking full back or further up the pitch
John Davis 22D - like the look of this young left back, we need depth here and he could be part of the first team next season
Juan Miguel Vergara 22E - some Spanish flair in the midfield can't be bad
Brad Little 22F - another defender, with Davis likely to be my left back I think Little could be a bit of a ball playing CB for us in time

I did manage to get so youth coaching and recruitment upgrades during our good spell so that's something. We still lack depth outside of our first choice side but that's the challenge right now

Was interested on how the players of my first youth intake had developed mentally, almost a year after they arrived at the club. Looks like mentoring paid off quite well, didn't expect this much progress!

Scarborough Athletic – Season 14 (2033/34)

English Premier League

League: An underwhelming season in the league, but only because we set such a high standard last season. We finished 8th with a goal difference of +1 and 8 points less than last season. Some good runs were intermingled with glaring inconsistency, and my tactical tweaking did not seem to be able to fix this. Man Utd knocked us out in the quarters of both domestic cups.

2AkhzY7.png  HDxUufZ.png

Europe: Our first foray into Europe was pretty decent, as we managed to get out of a tough group containing Valencia and Fiorentina by beating Fiorentina 1-0 away on the last day. We got past Basel in the 2nd KO round but Valencia got their revenge by knocking us out in the quarters.

rrX4irp.png  Ju3rdmz.png

Players: Again, a surprise youngster from last year’s intake breaking through, with Nick Harmon 13b (ST/AML)  finishing with a solid 13 goals and 7.23 average rating for the season. The other promising youngster from last year’s intake Michael Edwards 13a broke his leg so did not feature much. Other than this, Christopher Uche 12a (DLC) has broken into the first team, where he formed a formidable partnership with club captain Russell Jebbison 02c (DRC/DC). Everyone else was pretty average.

Ewgbiy4.png  ipUN7XP.png9JZrJTm.png

Youth intake: Really disappointed with this one. Facility improvements, higher reputation, Premiership - and all we get is a promising Scottish keeper and literally nothing else. I hope next year we get more depth as more or less half my team has been with us since the Vanarama National and are definitely reaching their limit at this level.

YzVUems.png  KmJyzek.png

Facilities: Upgraded training and youth facilities, and another stadium expansion is on the way. Not that any of this is helping much with the intakes…

y1HKCxc.png

Transfers: Cleared out some deadwood, with the most notable one being Sam Fletcher 05b (DMC/MC) whose progress has stalled over the last few years.

Hitchin 2027/2028 season:

image.thumb.png.de2cca9832d47b3e2de3fc5e499b0797.png

Started well, dipped in the middle and then a change of formation sparked a half decent run in which for the first time in 6-7 years saw the number of shots per game up to a level similar to the opposition most games. Very happy with 12th in first season in the league. Quite a few big defeats but at least the strikers continued to score!

image.thumb.png.d2a0f00ffb2b8e2953aaa41eac221a11.pngimage.thumb.png.6a4d000a97935fa0a817e62677e60075.png

image.thumb.png.e8a7361f1df5f9df6a7b25a97066ff2b.png

James Verney did not even make the team this year after declaring he was too big for the club. He is now 4th choice striker! A new player is definitely going to pick up young player of the year next season...because my 2 previous winners are now 23!

First team:

Best positions (first image) - Current formation score (second image)

Score for a "good" player updated so results are a bit lower here. Might take a bit of time out to make some changes so I can easily compare between the youth teams to see statistically which players are best suited for first team football.

Youth Intake 2023:

1956742462_intakepredictions.thumb.JPG.5722077da3143e576f87d850b77430ee.JPG1402523232_intakeemail.thumb.JPG.f143f7032a87e1922a9119485fd18b09.JPGimage.thumb.png.c814e28cb8d3465a36305f7bbbda4a2d.png

A couple of potentially stand out players here, but not a lot of depth.

Transfers:

Other news:

Not only did my assistant manager get poached over the summer, the board made it clear they wanted to sell the club. After 3 failed attempts a consortium finally did take over. Hopefully I am given time to show my worth and they don't decide to just give me the boot!

Gosport Borough Football Club

2025/26 Season | National League | 4th (lost in play-offs)

Season Preview | League Table | Competition Review | Squad | Finances | Transfers | Facilities

League Performance:

Another year of play-off disappointment as we improved on last season's mid table finish to place in the play-offs for the third time in four years. This was our worst play-off performance however as we were beaten 3-1 at home to our bogey team Torquay in the first round of the play-offs. Our overall league performance was very promising, as we actually ended up with the best goal difference thanks to some big wins, including at 8-0 win over Chorley, and a 6-1 win against Sutton. The fact we lost both games after these performances still highlights our lack of consistency though.

Cup Performance:

We managed to scrape through to the 2nd Round of the FA Cup after replays against Dorking and Wrexham in the previous rounds, replays which really stretched our small squad and probably did affect league performance. We were beaten 4-1 away at Fleetwood, and the FA Trophy saw us drawn against Swindon who beat us in the first round.

Players:

Oli Collings YP25c: The goalkeeper from the previous intake played every game, and has shown fantastic progress along with some great displays in front of our leaky defence. League one clubs are sniffing around him now

MIchael Barlow: Special mention for our right winger who was a 16 year old regen when we first joined the club. Hit double figures for assists for a second year running and has now made 226 appearances at the age of 22

Neal Jeacock YP24a: Somehow a centre back won our player of the season, and it was the colossal Jeacock who ended the season with an impressive 7.19 rating.

Finances & Facilities:

The finances remain in the red, but didn't drop as quickly as I expected. Nearly 200k in the red now, but I thought it might be worse with all the facility upgrades. At the end of the season we did get another recruitment upgrade, so this is now at adequate while the coaching remains at acceptable.

Youth Intake:

Two stand out players from the latest intake, with a few solid additions behind them:

2098422048_GosportBorough_YouthCandidates.thumb.png.724ccfd2fd34ba081a3ea3c525565b36.png

1351694505_StanCarltonYP26c_Profile.thumb.png.a3c9fd6c9eea7ac8343b7ec9f1c650ef.png

Jurevicius and Mills will go straight into the first team, and Carlton will probably be our back up striker - the lack of finishing on the strikers we've produced has been incredibly frustrating. I just about managed to convince Jurevicius to sign a professional contract with us by offering him the world, but we've probably only got a season with him before he wants a move away.

Next Season:

Promotion. We've got a good bunch of youngsters in the first team now, and while the entire back four remains a concern this is our best chance. Swindon and Port Vale have both been promoted, and newly relegated Gillingham & Newport are both predicted to not be at the top of the table.

Teams from Bragança are dominating the league! Just like last season, we're starting the league very well. Let's hope we don't get the same major fall back from december on this time...

Will also be very difficult to compete against Braga & Vitoria de Guimaraes, they have so many terrific players I would die for...

End of Season Review

Season 2022/23

East Kilbride F.C. - Wikipedia

League Table - We never really threatened the play off spots and we were so far behind the top three, we wouldn't have got very far even if we did qualify.

League Fixtures 1 & 2 - Long spells of dropped points equate to a solid mid table season.

William Hill Scottish Cup - Very disappointing to lose at home, after extra time, to Dumbarton, a club in League Two, in the third round.

Bet Fred Cup - We were eliminated in the group stage again, though considering our group had two Premiership clubs, I am pleased we finished third.

Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup - We were beaten at home by a strong Ayr United side in the second round to knock us out at the first time of asking.

Pre Season Friendlies - Not as many friendlies as I usually like, largely down to the season starting so early in Scotland.

Squad - Not strong enough to challenge for promotion yet, though the players are improving.

Squad Dynamics - Not too bad at all.

Transfers In - None.

Transfers Out - The only departures were youngsters on loan.

Youth Candidates - A decent enough intake with Craig Manson YP23A17 looking like the best prospect.

Finances - We are in the red and losing money.

Key Players

Craig Henderson - The best player at the club, the winger tore some defences apart.

Jamie MacDonald YP22D4 - The first youth product to firmly establish himself in the team.

Ruari Paton - The striker had another fine season, scoring 19 goals in 37 appearances.

David Brownlie - At 26 years of age, the centre back is the old man of the squad.  Played very well and lead the side superbly.

Mark Cairns - The central midfielder played above his level throughout.

Next Season

Another mid table season would be just fine.

Youth Candidates

Season 2031/32

FC United of Manchester

Errea is named new technical sponsor of FC United of Manchester!

The first intake as a level one academy and the first intake from my new Head of Youth Development.  My word what an intake.  Easily the best we have had.  Several will be in the squad immediately, if only for the experience.

I forgot to post this from January. I think Middlesbrough got played hard! I got £10m + 50% of next sale for this kid.

I mean, he is not bad, but he isn't £10m+ good.

XaW - Folkestone Invicta - 2034/35

200px-Folkestone_Invicta_F.C._logo.png

Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

Premier League! The pinnacle of English, and perhaps European, football. And Folkestone Invicta is part of it! A bit surreal to play here, but we didn't roll over for anyone at least. I mean, we got some real thumpings, but for the most part we got in a few punches our selves. The team is strongest going forward, and the weakness is in defence, so I kept the positive tactic that worked wonders in the Championship, and it kept working pretty good this season as well. We were never really in any danger of getting relegated, since we got a bit of a gap down to the four teams who really struggled. Sheffield United were lost far behind everyone, while Burnley, Bournemouth and Leeds were the other teams trying to survive. We were located in a group a bit over the lowest along a few other teams like Everton, Leicester and Wolves. So a really good first season in the top tier. I am a bit suspenseful to see what happens with the two stadiums we are building though. This season we played at Selhurst Park in London, a mere one and a half hours drive up the M20 from Folkestone. The finances are going through the roof, so I'm pretty sure I can get more facility improvements approved when the current ones are done a bit into next season.

In the FA Cup we lost to Fulham in the 3rd round. In the League cup we beat Brighton, Barnsley and Leeds before losing to Chelsea in the quarter finals.

The youth intake this season were good, if unspectacular. Crit Phillips 35a is a defensive talent, and a much needed one, while the rest were some potential, but no one else really stood out to me. Fewer players than usual stood out this season, much due to the higher level of opposition, but Mamadú Turé 28a showed he took the step up with ease as he scored 20 league goals once again. Jonas Sund 29c also had a good season as his closest parner and provided a lot for the team. Other than that, it's worth noting our goal scoring goalkeeper, Courtney Derrick 32a, added another 3 goals to his total of 16 career goals.

The U23s doesn't play in any leagues, but they did play in the EFL Trophy this season. They finished 3rd in a group along Southend, Northampton and Gillingham and got knocked out.

The U18s are now up into the U18 Professional Development League and they won the southern division! In the playoff for the overall championship they beat Leeds in the semi final, then Preston in the final to take home the trophy. In the FA Youth Cup they lost to Manchester City in the 3rd round.

So, the question with the two stadiums is solved, albeit it CRUSHES the notion of the "20 year hard limit to new stadiums" people are talking about.

We just moved into the "Folkestone stadium", a council owned stadium with room for 16,085 seats we are renting for £1.7m p/y. Let's call this stadium A, you'll see why in a moment. So we are playing there next season.

liTjKOW.png

All good so far, but here comes the twist! We are also building a new stadium! This is called...erhm.... "Folkestone Stadium". Yeah, imaginative there guys. Stadium B.

6jrpdJ4.png

So this Folkestone Stadium (B) will have a capacity of almost 37k, so a nice big stadium for us. Much more than in Folkestone Stadium (A).

As you can see we are located in Folkestone Stadium (A) and moving into Folkestone Stadium (B) in two years time!

Now the confusion is all cleared up, right? :idiot:

Season 2022/23 Review

League | FA Cup | FA Trophy | Transfers | Squad | Finances

I'll be honest, I was thankful that season ended. After a 3rd place last year I thought we might be able to go for it this year but we just never really put a run a of form together at all. I think I'm to blame here for several reasons. One I made the choice that 2 full seasons in that now would be the time to introduce the youth players that look promising, not many started but several were used as first choice back ups so as a result we sometimes had 3 or 4 teenagers playing, secondly I abandoned our route one style play as I'm just not a fan of it despite it getting me results, I'm too impatient to implement my possession based 433 like I'm some non-league Cruyff/Guardiola and trying too hard to already make us a Ajax/Barcelona style side with a very distinct playing style and thirdly our main man up top Tunde Owolabi came to me in August saying he didn't think he'd get a new work permit (thanks Brexit) so wanted to leave, as a result I chose to try and phase him out and stopped playing to his strengths which hurt us as we still got over 20 goals for the season with no one else even getting double figures. He's gonna be a big loss next season as our first international Kerian Higgins 21a looks the part but hasn't produced yet, am hoping it's just an age thing and as he grows he'll get better. We need him too.

We did actually get ourselves up to 6th with 8 games to go but then we fell apart, only scored 3 more goals all season and lost 6 of the final 8 games as we dropped down the table. I do however think I've stumbled across  solution to my GK issues (we've had to play teenagers as we had no senior keeper when taking over) in Harry Nugent. Gave him his debut in the last game he played well, came through last season's intake but he never really popped up on my radar then.

In the cups we did manage to get to the first round of the FA Cup for the first time but league one Tranmere were too good. In the FA Trophy we lost to my bogey side Braintree (seriously, played them 7 times in that time and have 4 draws and 3 defeats with only 2 goals scored - both in these cup times. I hate them) So yeah not the best season but I did manage to finally get a start on my coaching badges and even sneaked in another Youth Recruitment upgrade. This summer I'm going to look at my coaching staff and try and revamp it (as much as you can at this level)

Youth Intake - another pretty decent looking one, this was the first from our new HOYD, some better personalities here this time too

Andrew Hilton 23a - left winger that looks solid with some nice all round attributes for his position
Conor Murray 23b - I like Conor, proper looking CM that could be used to break up play
Elliot Roles 23c - defender, needs real work on his speed if he's ever gonna play for us though
Jim Emerson 24d - a bit of a project of mine, I like wrong footed wide men and he fits the role well

Have never, in all my time playing this game over years, seen that before. That's crazy :D

I actually think that the game did not see the future stadium due to the fact that it is built by the city council and not us, even if we are to move in there. So since we were renting Selhurst Park, the game decided that we need a new stadium and we now had the money, so it decided to build a new stadium. And since the name "Folkestone stadium" were not on any _functioning_ stadiums at the completion of the planning, then the name was available. So that's how you get two Folkestone Stadiums, I guess.

Oh, and teams are stealing my youngsters like I'm the only club in the world focusing on youth. 4 are poached so far this summer...

Just a side note: I noticed there's a lot of diversity in the intakes of English clubs here. So many second nationalities :idiot:Feel like there are far more than in previous editions.

Anyway, adds some nice versatility to your games. Hope to get some non-Cape Verdian players as well, always a nice addition to the game.

End of Season Review

Season 2031/32

FC United of Manchester

Errea is named new technical sponsor of FC United of Manchester!

League Table - The season was a complete disaster from start to finish.  We never had a chance and injuries to key players throughout the season meant relegation was guaranteed.

League Fixtures 1 & 2 - So many defeats.  I will add we led at half time in quite a few games before losing, so had we held all of those leads, who knows?

F. A. Cup - We managed to reach the fifth round before being outclassed, rather predictably, by Manchester City.

Carabao Cup - We were eliminated at the first time of asking, losing away to fellow Premier League side Sheffield United in round two.

Pre Season Friendlies - An unbeaten pre season gave me false hope for the season ahead.

Squad - Nowhere near good enough for the Premier League, but good enough for the Championship.

Squad Dynamics - Not surprisingly, we need to work on the dressing room atmosphere.

Transfers In - None.

Transfers Out 1 & 2 - I cleared out a few youngsters who would never make the grade, plus the usual plethora of loans.

Youth Candidates - Our best intake to date with centre back, from Guyana of all places, Alwyn Bobb YP32B178, looking like a real prospect.

Finances - We should never again have financial issues.  An extremely healthy bank balance.

Key Players

Anthony Connolly YP23F38 - The leg break he suffered before Christmas was a devastating blow and any chance we had of surviving evaporated.

Lewis Thomas YP26A81 - The best player at the club.  One of the few bright sparks this season.

Ronnie Browning YP22G23 - Goalkeeper with over 500 appearances for the club who had a very busy season and kept the score down numerous times.

Ryan Jackson YP23E37 - Holding midfielder who struggled somewhat, though no more than anyone else.

Joseph O'Connell YP25B66 - The right back wasn't too bad but was exposed a few times.

Next Season

I don't think we are good enough for automatic promotion, so the aim is a play off place.

Ugh. We’ve hit the January transfer window and I’ve now got three unhappy players after telling them all I wasn’t selling them. Gillingham are running away with the league so best we can hope for is another season in the play offs.

I’m not against selling our best players, but when it’s £25k for someone who’ll likely be a championship or better player I don’t see the point in accepting now.

2033/2034 Russian Winter Update

Well, the bottom line for this season is, we're not retaining our title

The Super Cup

As Champions we took on the Cup Winners Krasnodar.  First taste of the Super Cup unfortunately seen us lose

image.thumb.png.66b0d8e2a2b6052d191e34f89def7339.png

The League

Our defence got of to not a great start, losing 2 of our first 4 (which was a shock to the system after a whole season without a defeat).  We are currently in a 7 game undefeated streak, unfortunately only 2 wins in that run.

This run of results have left us battling for the final European Conference place.

The Cup

Well, we have made it past the Sixth round, currently in the quarter finals.  With a real chance to progress.

The Champions League

Very happy to report, we have once again made it out of the group stages of Europe.  This time in second place, to Real Madrid thanks to our head to head with Gladbach(1 win - our only one - and a draw - one of 4).

This seen us be drawn with Manchester United in the next round.

Hitchin 2028/2029 season:

image.thumb.png.5453514dc2f6e96d0c05411e855f127b.png

Quite a disappointing season compared with the previous, although main striker since the start decided to have a sulk because there were bigger teams to play for in VNN/VNS and I refused. Kept a positive GD for the first half, tiredness set in 2nd half however and we crumbled. Got an easy couple of draws in the FA cup, including a 3rd round tie against Hartlepool in the same league. Knocked out by Millwall in the 4th round which nicely boosted the club kitty.

Team is generally progressing OK given that I am still unable to upgrade any proper facilities.

A couple of potentially stand out players here, but not a lot of depth (again)

After last season I sat down over the summer to try and figure out what to do next, I saw we had a couple of decent AMC's ready for first team football so went with an attacking 4231 with the idea to get bodies into the box and try and just outscore the opposition. It worked as we were the 3rd top scorers with 76, we also conceded 67 though! We actually started the season on fire winning 7 og our first 8 (drawing the other) before out of nowhere losing 6-0 away to Tamworth (who did win the league) we then didn't score let alone win in 5, and that was the story of our season - when we were good we were really good but when we were bad we stunk the place out, on 3 different occasions my players refunded the fans their ticket money after a defeat :D

As we went on a couple of mini cup runs, and also have a awful pitch that gets waterlogged as soon as it rains we had a insane run in, on 3 different periods we face 7 or 8 games in 21 days in the run in and our small squad struggled so we started to drop the playoff places with 11 games to go I was sure we were done for, a home game against Stalybridge saw us lead 1-0, miss a 90th min pen then score a 92nd minute OG to draw. Of course we then won our next 2 before losing our next 4. 2 wins and 2 draws in our final 4 games saw up just about finish in the playoffs in 7th spot.

In playoffs we went away to a Kettering side that had our number, 7 games in a row we had failed to beat them, so of course we turn up and win 2-0. After that in the semi finals we faced a Chester side that had won the last 3 games against us but we raced into a 2-0 lead by HT I was dreaming of the final. A free kick and a volley in the final seconds though and it was 2-2 and extra time. No more goals and it was pens. They missed 3 and we scored 4 to win 4-1. In the final was South Shields, newly promoted this season who had finished 3rd. We beat each other at our own grounds during the season, 2 gals before the break gave us a nice lead but they pulled one back just after HT, 2 quick goals from us though put the game out of sight despite a late goal from them we held on to clinch promotion.

As said we had some success in the cups too this season, in the FA Cup we got the 4th qualifying round where we faced the hardest game we could have got at the time as Kidderminster were top of the national league, a 1-1 draw at their ground left me thinking we could snatch a win at home. Of course we lost 5-0 instead. In the FA Trophy we made it to the quarter finals before playing, yep Kidderminster again. We were 2-0 up away before 2 30 yard goals from them (the 2nd being the final kick of the game obviously) meant another replay at home to them, we did better only losing 2-1 this time.

A couple stand out players this season, can't argue with Kerian Higgins 21a being the main man, was worried last summer but making him first choice paid off with 39 goals for the season. Special mention too for Kevin Smith 21d who stepped up this season and made one of the CM berths his own. I also managed to get further upgrades to youth coaching and recruitment as well as completing my first coaching badge.

Youth Intake - loved this one and ended up tagging loads. Sorry, got a bit excited and most probably won't make it now we've gone up. Lots of different nationalities coming through which is fun but feels a bit odd?

Jack Jones 24a - my staff were raving about him, not sure I see it but is rated as our best keeper already but think that says more about our options there than him
Martyn Burns 24b - another left winger, a lack of pace is an issue
Mark Mayfield 24c - aside from his finishing I really like this guy, some good starting attributes
Sam Beale 24d - another left sided player, no outstanding stats but a decent all round player
Derek Fallon 24e - Irish left back, not the quickest but a 6'4" left back might stop some crosses coming in
Wilfried Kone 24g - French CM, with got some potential depth there but could easily breakthrough
Steve James 24h - our only CB this intake that looks like he could be decent as adds some height we're missing
Grant Ratcliffe 24i - another CM, OK looking but poor personality will likely hold him back with the options we have in CM

Scarborough Athletic - Season 15 (2034/354)

English Premier League

League: A better season as we matched our highest-ever finish of 6th from two years ago. The team overall was playing much more consistently, maybe being out of Europe helped. Man City had an incredible year, completing a 102 point invincible season. They will take some time to catch at this rate… We managed to reach the league cup semi where we lost out to Tottenham, and the less said about the FA cup the better.

ccrhn3V.png  GTrLbWG.png

Players: Nick Harmon 13b (ST/AML) has continued to develop nicely, as has Michael Edwards 13a (DMC/MC/AMC), with both staying relatively injury-free this season. I’m actually thinking of retraining Edwards as a center back due to my lack of options in that department. Mark Campbell 09b (ML/AMLC/ST) was probably our best player and we underwent a noticeable slump in form when he was injured.

49woxbR.png  2GUN9CC.png  1qX8MFX.png

Youth intake: I messed up the screenshot shortcuts so showing these at the end of the season – but in general this year but it was better than last, with a few players with potential to feature in the first team. Another talented Scottish lad Steward Stracey 15a (MC/AMC/ST) will join the growing ranks of our talented attackers, while Shane Hatton 15b (DC/MC) might fill in some of the holes at center back. Ryan Smith 15c (MC/ST) also looks decent.

Facilities: Training + youth upgrade done, stadium expansion done and another on the way. And we’re finally up to level 1 youth setup!

A question for @XaW.  I read your careers with a lot of interest though I am curious.  When was the last time you signed a player?  :D

So, 18 players - 3 of which are keepers (they must know I love a keeper ).  There are a couple of pre-campaign start youth to watch out for though...

Simon Curley (20a), 17 - 16 Year old keeper.  Will play back-up as well as being available to play any youth games.

Hitchin 2029/2030 season:

image.thumb.png.6b8069f46c630719369960bf41406330.png

In the relegation zone in November with only 1 league win from the start of November to the end of January. The only matches I seemed to boss teams off the park was in the FA Cup, taking Gillingham (league 1) to a replay away and winning (1st rnd), beating Charlton (championship) at home in the 3rd and drawing away at Forest in the 4th (losing the 2nd leg). The Forest draw seems to have sparked an upturn in form and only 1 league loss in 15 including 10 wins meant the season was actually a very good one. Especially when the TV money has led to the board agreeing to upgrade the youth and training facilities!

Some quite poor looking stats this year. Possibly down to the fallout between myself and the first choice keeper and striker, both who wanted to leave the club. Adam Watts 24d has actually stepped up in between the sticks quite well and has good potential, while Bryan Manning 23e was already the backup striker and was starting to play regularly so should be able to take up the mantle of scoring for the team easily enough.

Youth Intake 2023:

3 exceptional potential players here along with 2 very good ones. A large number of the youth team have now turned 18 so are in the u23's and had a bit of a clear out and let contracts expire for those not able to make the cut.

Very disappointed in this one, didn't even see the offer come in for him so he left without me getting a chance to sign him up as was a regular starter for me.

Just a quick update

Nothing to update!

Since wining the Premier League in 2107 I've been really poor

Can't see to get a good run.

Still no decent center backs coming through

Really disappointing

Gosport Borough Football Club

Season 2026/27 | National League | 5th (Won in play-offs!)

League Table | Competition Review | Squad | Facilities | Transfers | Finances

League Performance:

FINALLY!  We had our best league performance so far finishing on 83 points, and it translated into a play-off win at the fourth time of asking. At one stage it looked like we would face a fight to even reach the play-offs after 4 defeats in 5 over Christmas which had us as low as ninth. This was absolutely not helped by six players making their U21 debuts for their countries, and me not even having the option to cancel the fixtures.

However, from February onwards we lost one game which was away to league winners Dulwich Hamlet, and then we carried that momentum to the play-offs to get ourselves promoted. In true play-off style we did not make it easy for ourselves though - a struggling 1-0 home win against Ebbsfleet was followed by a 3-2 extra time win at Gillingham, and the final against Fylde also went to extra time as we won 3-1 with the second goal being scored by a 16 year old from the most recent intake. The stuff dreams are made of!

Cup Performance:

Our best FA Trophy performance was still only good enough for the 3rd round before being beaten by Stockport, and the FA Cup was a disappointing 1st round affair as we lost away to Ashton United.

Players:

Will Mills YP26b: An amazing first full season from the left winger as he contributed 15 assists and 7 goals

Stan Carlton YP26c: The striker or attacking midfielder has really surprised me with his progress. Chipped in with 12 goals in his debut season

Michael Bohrer YP25a: 16 goals and 8 assists for the versatile German who has rather bizarrely been capped by Germany U21s - I mean he's good for our level but would've assumed he'd be a million miles away from international football

Neal Jeacock YP24a: Another player of the season for the big centre back. No doubt due to his 12 goals from 37 league games

Facilities & Finances:

No changes to facilities this year, and the finances have received a massive boost due to the sale of two players. Rather predictably we couldn't keep hold of Arnas Jurevicius YP26a who joined Birmingham for £650k, and Alexander Jantti YP25b went to Swansea for £600k. We had four bids accepted for Jurevicius, and of course he chose the one without a percentage of next sale transfer so that's frustrating but I am happy with the deal for Jantti who while an excellent player for us is not irreplaceable and both had been making noises for a year about moving clubs, even after promotion.

Youth Intake:

Nothing special, but a good centre back is very welcome and some useful others:

Next Season:

I guess we can't look past surviving and maintaing our newly found full time status. We are over £1m in the black now due to player sales, however a forced stadium expansion will eat into quite a lot of that profit. Hopefully some more facility upgrades and no players kicking up a fuss to leave the club would nice!

Career Summary:

Hayden Atkinson YP21a loses his record as most capped player to fellow 2021 graduate John Butler. Robert Cook YP21d has now been released after one goal last season, so his record is up for grabs in the coming seasons.

Season 2024/25 Review

League | FA Cup | FA Trophy | Transfers | Squad | Finances

This was by far one of my most satisfying seasons ever on FM. As anyone that has been reading my posts knows I've been trying to get a possession based game going ever since I took over, with that in mins I've spent a lot of time training and moulding youth players in the hope that when they're ready for the first team I could change into that style. Well this season we did, a season early I might add. The plan was to just carry on like last season and attack while throwing bodies into the box but our best (really only good) AMC Karanja Henry 22A was stolen from us during pre-season by Huddersfield, I don't blame the lad for going but it was going to be hard to replace him with what we had, so instead I brought forward the possession 433 and it was looking good in pre-season with an added focus on set pieces from me too but just 3 weeks after the change we then lost Juan Miguel Vergara 22E, a player I had spent 2 seasons getting ready for the role I wanted from him. Despite that I carried on with the idea.

We actually started the season really well, with only 3 defeats in our first 18 games we sat top of the pile, we then promptly didn't win in 10 games and dropped from 1st down to 15th. Instead of panicking though I watched a couple games back and in the main we we doing OK, just needed some tweaks, so I made a few tactical moves, keeping the same style but not pressing as high up the pitch as our defenders were lacking in pace tad. I also brought back in a couple of players from last season as I thought with 9 players from our youth team playing we maybe just lacked some experience. The biggest change however was changing the keeper. Nugent had done me well but my coaches were pushing to move Jack Jones 24A up from the youth team and play him and I'm not too proud to admit I was wrong, we instantly looked better at the back and really kicked on. We even went back on top for a short spell but Jones being away with Wales U19 meant we had to play Nugent against 2nd placed Halifax and lost 4-1 (first defeat in 10) we also struggled to score in the run in with top scorer Higgins 21A injured. However we did keep nicking draws and we 6th going into the final day. Away to Gloucester we were 2-1 down and in 8th place with 10 minutes to go, 2 minutes later we were 3-2 up and 5th - that's how tight it was.

That ending meant we leapfrogged Morecombe (who lost to York on the final day) meaning we were home rather than away to them in first round. A tight nervy game saw grab a goal midway through the second half from Meadowcroft gave us a tight 1-0 win. That meant Dagenham & Redbridge away in the semi finals, we raced into an early 2 goal lead with a goal from Meadowcroft and Doyle (from a Meadowcroft corner) saw us cruising at the break. 5 minutes after HT and it was 2-2. That's the way it ended at 90 mins so extra time, neither side was able to really do much until a goal in the 120th minute from Higgins 21A sent us to the final. There would be York. This time we wen't 2-0 down early as they blitzed us. At HT I went shouty shouty at them annoyed they had blown it. Meadowcroft popped up again, before a goal from Smith 21D drew us level, again no way through and extra time when that man Meadowcroft popped up 3 minutes into extra to score. York had not 1 but 2 disallowed goals in the remaining 27 minutes but we held on and went up

Special mention to Stephen Meadowcroft, came through our first intake and wasn't really rated, he progressed well in training and got a chance last season due to lack of options my my left and did pretty well, as a result I kept faith with him this season despite there no being better options (on paper anyway) than him and what big game player, scored in all playoff games and 2 in the final. Pays to sign everyone in a youth intake as you never really know who will kick on when given a chance.

In the cups we were poor as they came during our poor spell. No more youth coaching or recruitment upgrades this season either but did get a youth facility upgrade approved so that should go through this summer, we will also now turn professional this summer which should mean I have more of a chance to hold on to and mould players now.

Youth Intake Another really good one I think, not loving the personalities coming through but the talent is there, I have actually spent a lot of time on mentoring groups this save as well as training PPM's from a young age to compliment my system and will continue to do so

Daniel Connolly 25A - a winger comfortable with either foot, I like that.
Brian Cook 25B - a OK looking CB
Andrew Smart 25C - CM/DM could be the depth we need at DM going forward
Gary Grimes 25D - GK, likely to be backup to Jones with none of our other keepers impressing me
Jack Jones 25E - yes another Jack Jones from Wales (these Welsh parents need to be more imaginative with their names) but also another wrong footed winger which suits me
Michael Cooper 25F - another decent looking CB
Marvin Barlow 25G - another option at either CM or DM

A question for those in the know...

After getting to Continental Pro I checked my stats and they were fairly low still, assumed that these are improved over time. I am wondering how if the skill cap is 20, how I have 21 for Discipline (it was 27 at the start of last season!)?

XaW - Folkestone Invicta - 2035/36

200px-Folkestone_Invicta_F.C._logo.png

Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

So we moved into our council rented stadium this summer, and stayed there for this season. We'll be there next season as well before we move into our new home after that. Teams in general have mostly stopped trying to lowball bid for my players, and none are unhappy staying at the moment so we have that going for us. The season itself went well, but we had a very poor run after big losses to Manchester City, Liverpool, Derby and Tottenham IN A ROW! So we had to pick ourselves up, but at least we finished good, and even beat Arsenal in the final match of the season. So one spot up from last season, and we are starting to establish ourselves as a mid table team. Our main problems are in the central defence, but not getting many good defenders from the intake is not something I can do much about. So I can only hope we get better ones in the future.

In the FA Cup we lost to Chelsea in the 3rd round. In the League cup we beat Basingstoke Town before losing to Manchester United in the 3rd round.

This season our youth intake was one of the worst in many, many years. The best one seems to be Kane Sadler 36a, but he is not amazing, and he just broke his leg shortly after the intake. Thijs Bakker 36b is a decent attacking player, but not someone I think will light up the squad. So I think we have to make due with what we've got. Mamadú Turé 28a got crowned top scorer in the league this season, even with quite a lot of niggles and small injuries. Behind him, Jonas Sund 29c had another amazing season, while goal scoring goalkeeper Courtney Derrick 32a got 4 goals this season. However, he is starting to get serious competition from our other goalkeeper Dean Murray 33e, who also scored a goal this season. I'm not sure who I'm thinking about as our long term goalkeeper, so if anyone have any thoughts, please let me know!

The U23s still don't play in any leagues, but had another go in the EFL Trophy. They finished 4th in their group, behind Exeter City, Notts County and Oxford United and got knocked out.

The U18s won the U18 Professional Development League southern division. In the playoff for the overall championship they lost to Preston in the semi final. In the FA Youth Cup they beat Havant & Waterlooville, West Ham and Coventry before losing big to Norwich in the 6th round.

A question for those in the know...

After getting to Continental Pro I checked my stats and they were fairly low still, assumed that these are improved over time. I am wondering how if the skill cap is 20, how I have 21 for Discipline (it was 27 at the start of last season!)?

It should be max 20, but I've heard about people having this issue before. No idea why though. I don't have it myself.

Hitchin 2030/2031 season:

So erm...this happened!

A good start with a win against Scunthorpe away (who went on to boss the league) set us up for a good season, finishing well within the playoff spots. At one point an 11 point gap over 8th spot. Resting players for the last 4-5 games ended up in a bit of a beating and a negative GD overall.

Despite the positives, there were twice as many loses as there were draws so this will need to be improved to stand a chance of staying up next year.

Improvements compared to previous season which is good. Defence is very young so plenty of time to improve still. Corey Horton 23a is turning in to a fine player. for me and going professional will only help the development further.

Youth Intake 2023:

Not quite sure who the "fine prospect" forward is as the intake on the whole was pretty poor I think. Some hopeful defensive options which may develop nicely.

Transfers:

Samuel Musa 24B (50% sell on fee from 25/26 season) seems to be a regular for Morton now in the Labbrokes Premiership, hoping for a sale with a nice bonus for the club help encourage the board on further developments!

Any other business:

Start of the season the board scrapped training facilities, prioritising the youth facilities instead which is OK with me for now. As expected promotion came with the confirmation of turning professional. A lot of players on 20% contract increase for promotion so am expecting the wage bill to spike next season.

Stadium upgrade took my by surprise, think it is a bit of a waste of cash at the moment and will hamper my plans for further youth development in the short/medium term.

5 assists in a league game, i think that's a first for me! A nice 8,54 team rating, and largest win so far :)

SEASON 1 - LADBROKES LEAGUE 2

League Table - Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2 - Player Stats

Manager Profile

Club Profile - Club General - Club Facilities - Honours - Finances - Transfers

So I decided to give this challenge another go and started in Scotland. Before I get going, when I took over they had already signed a centre back on a free transfer. Hope this is ok??

So, Kelty Hearts were the team that came through. Based in the Fife region of Scotland with not much previous history. My starting profile was set up and an announcement made to the public. Perfect! Pre-season odds had us down as 4th favourites and odds of 5-1 to my surprise.

The Season

After a good pre-season we were straight into the League Cup group stage. Playing teams from higher leagues is not ideal when trying to build morale but I feel we did well. We finished third in Group C on a respectable 8 points, only losing 1 game.

On the first day of the season, a 2-0 win away at Cove got us of to the perfect start. After going unbeaten in our first 6 games we had a dissapointing 2-1 loss at home to Annan as well as going out of the Challenge Cup to Peterhead on penalites at the first hurdle. We did bounce back in the league though and despit a poor 4-1 home loss to Cove, we had still only lost 2 league games by the middle of November. We beat none league Linlithgow Rose in the Scottish Cup, only to crash out at local rivals East Fife 4-0 in the nect round. After the dissapointing cup performance we managed to put together an impressive 17 game unbeaten run. The youth preview in the middle of this also adding some good news. A 3-1 win away at Cove in January put us top for the first time overtaking them in the process. After 17 games unbeaten we looked unstoppable. 7 points clear of Clyde with 6 games left. Then Clyde came to Central Park, won 3-0, and things seemed a lot tighter than they should of. With 4 games left, the title race was hotting up with 4 points seperating 1st and 2nd. On the 17th of April we travelled to Annan, whilst Clyde went to Cowdenbeath. A last minute winner for Annan in a 4-3 win, coupled with a 2-0 win for Clyde, meant that the league positions changed for the first time since the new year. We were about to throw this away. The second to last weekend comes around and Annan pull a win out the bag against Clyde. Its back on!! Unfortunately, despite taking a 2nd minute lead, we go down 2-1 to Stranraer as well meaning we are a point behind the leaders on the last day. We travel to Elgin City whilst Clyde went to Stranraer knowing a win seals the title for them. A 5-1 win meant we had kept our side of the bargain and Stranraer holding out for a 0-0 meant that we had pipped it on the last day of the season. Kelty Hearts League 2 Champions!!!!

The Youth Intake

Despite the optimistic Youth Intake Review, there wasn't much to shout home about

The Players

Nathan Austin was the standout performer for the season, scoring an impressive 31 goals in 41 starts and winning the League 2 Player of The Year Award. Scott McBride had a decent season with 12 goals from left wing and Dylan Easton chipped in with 9 goals from centre midfield. At left back Scott Linton did well, playing as a complete wing back and managing 5 goals in the process.
