@shaunvamos Amazing find with Dolinar, Crossing 14, Dribbling 15, and Determination 16 at 16 years is fantastic!

He really is incredible, I saw the 4 star rating and just went, whoa. Thank god we turned pro again because Maribor were sniffing around big time and kept making offers. I was afraid the board would go over my head but I was able to sign him to a contract that'll keep him here for 6 years. He's already made an immediate impact in the preseason, bagging 3 assists in our 6-1 flogging of Mlada Boleslav, a Czech top division team that we really shouldn't have any right to beat, let alone by 5 goals!

Season Summary 2034 - 2035

Great Premier League progress

Last season we finished 14th, but as I said in my 2033-34 summary, we were really lucky. Yes, we finished 9 points above relegation, but with only 39 points in total we could easily have gone down. This season we were a lot better and I would say we deserved to finish 9th! We started the season great, beating Arsenal 1-0 at home. Two losses against Chelsea and Liverpool away followed, but after this we picked up a great streak of form, losing only 2 of our next 11 league games. We stayed in mid-table for the whole season, beating the bottom teams solidly at home and putting up a good fight against the top teams. A 6-0 win over Swansea at home was the highlight of the season.

In the last game I experimented with a 4-2-2-2 with two DM's and to attacking wingers. With some good strikers coming up through the ranks, but a shortage of central midfielders this might be something to consider in the future, but I will stick to my classic 4-3-3 for the next campaign.

Two players really stepped up this year. One being Carl O'Hanlon in defensive midfield. He is like a poor man's version of Xabi Alonso, but with better tackling and much worse vision (5 :(). He controls the game really well from his DM spot and is also a really good set piece taker. 11 assists and a 7,15 rating says it all, what a season!

Our other highlight came from club icon Bob Sterry. His first two seasons in the Premier League only saw him score only 12 goals in total. This season he rediscovered his form, scoring 16 goals. Not bad for a lone striker for a mid-table team.

Ryan Hughes is still king of the defence, what a player we have on our hands. Too bad he refuses to sign a new contract without a release clause! Alex Robinson also did really well on the right back at only 19 years old. He has been on full back with support duty, but next year we will change him to full back (attack) to get him more involved on the final third. I moved Derek Graham into the first team and he is developing nicely, playing as an inside forward on the left wing.

If we can keep performing this way and our young players keep developing in their current pace I think we can make a push for Europe in 2-3 seasons.

Hi all, long term lurker of this challenge and have been trying to complete it since discovering the forum in 2017.

The introduction of a lockdown has meant there is more time to have a real go at the challenge. I will admit I have never had much time for creating a tactic - always shamefully waited for one that works and then had a go (yes I know it defeats the point of the game!).

With the lockdown I thought it is about time I dive headlong in to creating a tactic, training the youth in that style and then reaping the rewards of my new found tactical knowledge. Well that all came crashing down today when 5 years in East Thurrocks 35 season ticket holders experienced relegation out of the Vanorama South so will need to re-start it seems.

Before I do I am hoping someone can point me to anything that will help tactics/training wise in identifying how to figure out what is best for my team? It is about time I learn how to play the game properly!

Heyhey, I would recommend you to have a look into FM Base at Youtube. Quite Fun to watch and still packed with a lot of information.
If you want the deep stuff, check this page, even though some info is for older editions of the game: https://www.guidetofm.com/

So with thanks to those who have helped me get started with this. After my 5 years getting more and more annoyed with East Thurrock before finally getting the boot I re-rolled on the reset day and...went completely with my heart on my choice.

There were probably far easier clubs to pick but this is the closest non league team to where I was bought up it was a no brainer!

Surprisingly their facilities are better than most I have seen for this tier and so fingers crossed for a decent youth intake:

image.thumb.png.f6fd412949496e606e2427d554f79b77.png

Only 19 first team players, none of them look particularly outstanding. But some OK determination and work rate stats

image.thumb.png.5c2d19575293f5f56f7f3204dc4bc954.png

No U23's at all! so the U18s may get an early call up to the squad. Some OK scores for current stats I think:

1st season might take me a while as want to sort a couple of tactics to trial before start of the season. Fingers crossed!

2028/2029

Parva League 5thChampionship Group 5th

Fixtures (1) -- Fixtures (2) -- Stats -- Awards -- Season Review -- Transfer -- Overall Best XI -- Key Player -- Hot Prospect -- Squad -- Finances

Last season I thought we’d got a tactic sorted that could get the best out of our players, this season it just wasn’t working with us getting off to a pretty terrible start, a 2nd round cup exit was the final straw that lead to a tactical change. There wasn’t a complete overhaul but some role changes and a slight formation tweak and we looked a complete different team, the best we’ve played since the start of the save which is nice. The improved form sent us into the Championship Group for the second season in succession in a season that had seemed as though we were destined for a bottom half finish. We did a solid yet unspectacular job in the Championship Group to maintain our 5th spot finish.

I forgot to mention that last season our under 19s won the Youth Cup which meant they were in the UEFA Youth League where they got knocked out by Borussia Dortmund  U19s on penalties. We also missed out on retaining the Bulgarian Youth Cup losing out again on penalties in the final. (an aside, but it would be nice if we actually got into the Bulgarian U19 league but I don’t know why we aren’t yet)

The best players this year

Ahmed Genchev 2b: Genchev 2b was back to his old self after a couple of poorer seasons, the tactic tweak really helped him out, 4 goals and 2 assists with an average rating of 7.24

Kiril Peshev 5b: I don’t know what about it is about Peshev 5b, but he consistently gets good ratings from central defense. He hasn’t developed as much originally hoped but if he continues to put in the performances I’m not complaining

Martin Rusev 6a: Rusev 6a is someone who I thought would actually be higher on this list, he is our top scorer and top assists maker but only ranks 3rd according to the game – I’d rate him as our best player this season.

The best player at the club currently is Alex Peshov 7b. He’s really developing nicely however, his height is still a little bit of an issue for a centre back so I’m training him to play in defensive midfield as well, but I don’t see myself being able to keep hold of him for two long being honest.

Youth Intake

I’m not too hyped for this years intake as there doesn’t look like a lot of players who might challenge for the first team, but I’m happy we’ve got a left back with at least some future potential as we don’t have a lot of depth in that position.

a4f77348afff94d07e5d2736f4068ba6.png

Youth intake 2029 – Ones to Watch

Lyubomir Karacharov 9a: A lot of our early defensive midfield prospects failed to live up to their early billing so I’m fairly happy with another defensive midfielder that can hopefully at least provide back up to the first team squad.

Mariyan Stoyanov 9b: In our intakes so far we have had one left back with any potential and even then they are really a right back, so it’s nice to get someone through who can hopefully be a good option in the left back position. His attributes do need to improve quite a lot but he’ll get his chances all the same

I wouldn’t be surprised if any of the other youth prospects did better than these two, but a lot are in saturated positions.

News/Looking Ahead

After the board decided to sell our best striking prospect I wasted no time in requesting facilities upgrades which they did agree to alongside another stadium expansion which I hope will improve the club cash flow. [EDIT - I hit continue this time before posting the board cancelled the Youth Facilities but kept the other two]

Next season if we can avoid having a bad start like this season I’m quietly confident we can push on towards European qualification

Well, I don't think anyone was expecting this. Our first season in the top division and we qualify for Europe? We even denied Maribor a European place, astounding given that they are arguably the biggest club in the country. I'm not even sure how we did it, and I'm sure as hell we won't be able to replicate it next season. I just plan to enjoy our foray into Europe for as long as it lasts, and hope that we make enough money to get back into the black, because we are still in so much debt.

After the mammoth intake we got last season, I didn't expect too much, so I'm not surprised with this. That being said, we still do get some good players,  especially the one in midfield where we are pretty short on potential.

Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

Oh wow! This is some season! Apparently, the Vanarama National and League Two are quite similar since we did great, but Chester also did very good this season. At least it seems like it, but I also think going professional were a big deal for us. I managed to keep hold of all my players this season, so that also helps out a lot, and I've even kept most happy for the most of the time. We were part of the top of the table the whole season, and we actually ran away along Northampton and Gillingham. So the three of us were promoted with a few games left. The title win came after the last match though, since Northampton followed us to the door. In the end we won it on goal difference, so League One here we come! Financially though, ugh! We have issues. Going pro meant a lot more expenses, but the incomes didn't quite follow along. I really hope Sinisa Fumic 26a gets sold from Norwich soon...

In the FA Cup we lost to Southend in the 1st round. In the League cup we beat AFC Wimbledon, Cardiff and Forest Green before losing to Manchester City in the 4th round. In the EFL Trophy we lost to Luton Town, Arsenal U23s and Colchester and finished last in our group.

Our youth intake were amazing once again! The main one is Sami Hyypiä Mikael Hiilloskorpi 30c, the majestic Finn! A great defender with none too shabby skills with the ball either! Also worth mentioning Adam Johnson 30b, a talented player, but also a Model Citizen! This season Mamadú Turé 28a were simply excellent! Scored loads of goals, and are really showing his worth. He even scored 8 goals in the last 3 matches to almost single handed win us the title. He still is on a part-time deal though, since he won't sign a new once. Alan Martin 26f had an amazing season on the left wing, and I'm really happy he came back from his damaged spine continuing his development. Jason Davies 27d have flown a bit under the radar, but I pushed him up the pitch a bit this season and he really delivered.

The U18s were back in the U18 Youth Alliance League South-East and did very well. They finished in an impressive 4th place. In the FA Youth Cup they beat Aldershot before losing to Gillingham in the 2nd round. They also played in the U18 Youth Alliance Cup S, but didn't get past the group stage.

East Kilbride F.C. - Wikipedia

Season 2026/2027

Well, this season wasn't too bad at all. We finished 6th in the league, which is our best league finish ever. As a semi-professional club it's quite as high as possible.

mz3rkVo.png

As you can see we had some success in the cups. Both in the Betfred Cup and the Challenge Cup we knocked out in the semi finals. For a club of our stature it is quite remarkable. We also earned some nice cash from it. We had less success in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
I just hope that we can build on this and that we, hopefully, manage to finish 4th in the league next season.

When we finished the season, this message came into my inbox:
QoqiOlF.png

So yeah, that's really, really nice and welcome. Our current capacity is 999 and we only just have that capacity because of the last expansion.

The youth intake was okay, nothing spectaculair. This was the preview:

And this the intake:
BMW1It3.png

These are the 3 best prospects: Michael McBride 27a, Craig Wright 27b and Craig Curry 27c

Because of the money we got at the end of the season, we could upgrade our junior coaching and youth recruitment.

Let's take a look at our facilities:

Up to next season, where we hopefully can fight for a promotion-place and more important: get the professional status!

Scarborough Athletic – Season 12 (2031/32)

Sky Bet Championship

League: After two near misses in the playoff final I wasn’t quite sure what to expect this season. But we started well, notching up consistent if unspectacular wins which propelled us into the top 3 alongside recently relegated Newcastle and Wolves. All three teams stayed very close to each other until Wolves’ form tanked around January / February - something that used to happen to me so many times. I’m guessing this is partly because of their continued participation in the Champions League, and getting to the final of the league cup and quarters of FA cup took the focus away from the league. Unlike some recent seasons, we just kept on going and after a crucial draw away at Newcastle and a narrow win at home to playoff-bound Southampton we managed to seal promotion with some 5 games to spare, and seal the title with 3 games left. This meant I could actually play the youngsters in the last few games, which is why the final league table looks closer than it was. So, here we are, 12 years after the start of the journey, in the Premier League!! I expect us to struggle next season but the boost to reputation and finances should leave us in good stead for the future whatever happens

A good run in the League cup saw us reach the semi where we were roundly hammered by Man Utd.

nobIOdc.png  NXqdDdy.png

Players: Mark Campbell 09b (AMLC/ST) evolved from our best prospect to our best player, scoring 28 and assisting 10 in 46 apps. Hope he doesn’t get injured next season because he’s miles ahead of everyone else - if not in terms of star rating, then in terms of his contribution. Kwame Kwame 09a (DM/MC) has become a regular - and despite his low star rating, his great passing stats have been a real bonus in the midfield this season. Tim Holloway 07a (ML/AMC/ST) is another one who’s become more of a regular in the side, chipping in with 15 goals and 11 assists from left wing.

cPjoqvW.pngp1oZ9fl.png  NB0g1cu.png  S0AiBAX.png

Youth intake: Better than the rubbish we’ve had in the last two years. Christopher Uche 12a (DC) looks a real prospect at centre back, and Ben Griffiths 12b (M/AMC) could become an important player for us given our weakness in centre midfield.

RgGkDbc.png  u0gQS1y.png  a8iANv4.png

Facilities: We’ve managed to upgrade training and youth facilities and up youth recruitment.

NK Zadar: 2061/62 season review

A rollercoaster of a season as we went from being dumped out in the CL best placed play-off to winning the domestic double and Europa League, beating Spurs in the final.

Some excellent performances. Karlo Tomasevic (57D) is an absolute beast.

Season Review

Season 2020

Manaus Futebol Clube

Manaus Futebol Clube - Club profile | Transfermarkt

League Table - An excellent season as we finished third in our group, qualifying for the promotion play offs.

Play Offs - Had we won the tie, we would of been promoted, alas it was not to be.  We were comprehensively beaten over two legs by Operário (PR) who outclassed us.

League Fixtures - A solid campaign all around.

Compeonato Amazonense - We won all of our fixtures in the league.

Compeonato Amazonense Play Offs - We were not really troubled as we maintained our 100% record, retaining the title.

Compeonato Amazonense Fixtures - We won them all.

Copa Continental do Brasil - A tough draw saw the club lose narrowly at home to Fortaleza, going out in the first round.

Copa Verde - A fairly straightforward run saw the club qualify for the final where we played second tier Remo.  Despite playing well, we just couldn't score as we lost 1-0 away in the first leg.  In the return game, we dominated, though we didn't have much luck, drawing 1-1 for a 2-1 aggregate defeat.

Pre Season Friendlies - Not many games as the season is just so long in Brazil.

Squad - Decent enough to repeat our form next season.

Squad Dynamics - They don't think much of me, largely due to the board not wanting me to study for my coaching badges.

Transfers In - The only arrival occurred before I joined the club.

Transfers Out - I let players who would never get a game leave.

Youth Candidates - A poor bunch with Roger YP20A1 being the best of them.

Finances - Not good.  Not good at all.

Key Players

Derlan - This experienced midfielder plays the anchor role and was in fine form this season.

Luís Fernando - Another veteran, this central defender who is vital to the team.

Néstor Arenas - Deployed as either a striker or on the right wing, the Colombian is the best player at the club.

Hamilton - Striker who excelled, scoring 19 goals in his 28 games.

Fabián Zambrano - Another Colombian, this man runs the midfield.

Next Season

Another playoff push.

2025/2026 - The Russian Winter - A Better Start Though

After once again surviving through the playoffs, just we moved on to another season.  One season away from beating my ABC record?!  And we have had a better start, than usual, although for one season only I'd rather play the worst clubs instead of of the best at the start of the season for once.  But after 18 games, find ourselves in 9th, 9 points clear of the relegation playoff position, and with a game in hand.  Unfortunately, the cup draw was not kind to me once we got to the sixth round as it was a repeat of last years final, as we faced off against Lokomotiv Moscow.  Losing, again.

I will try this again after a long break from the challenge.

Last time I was in Denmark now it will be England. I haven't chosen a club in advance - but would really like a club from London.

I'll report back after first season.

EDIT: The club will be Kingstonian

Season 2025/2026 - The Youth Intake Update

Have to admit I'm ok with this intake.  With me planning to do a mass cull of the youth players at the end of the next season that have not made it in my eyes, I have a decent starting base here.

image.thumb.png.8927c4f35fe316b6fd900a76a7ab7896.png

The Picks

Aleksandre Nodia (26a), 17 - Young Goalkeeper, who hopefully will be able to challenge for at least the second spot if not the first in the future.  Will likely spend one season in between U18 and U21 before going into the Second Squad in 2027/2028.

image.thumb.png.633f4d68ecff65bbe0ea30a7955d1730.png

Roman Arsentjev (26b), 16 - Young left back.  Already good enough to battle for the back up left back for the first team, but will likely spend the time with the youth teams next season.

image.thumb.png.f67c08a2744bf2b844d7aba23140ee08.png

Pavel Borisov (26c), 16 - Centre back, which looks like to have seen the end of Alexandr Frolov (20b) when the cull comes mentioned above.

image.thumb.png.696b12bc447710f47f9feefa16678d88.png

Alexey Safanov (26d), 17 - A Central midfielder who will likely break through next season as it is a weak spot in the team.  Although it will still be even if he does, it gives us a good base.

image.thumb.png.9e4fabaefcc17214672c92dce7c21aff.png

Alexey Likhobabenko (26e), 16 - Left winger, More likely to be a loan out player in the near future but could be of use in a few years.

2025/2026 - End of Season Update - Best ever Finish

The season has come to an end, and we have at the end of the season, ended 9th in the league.  I am very happy with that.  Although the quality difference between us and the top teams is still massive.  Can we close the gap?

Hi guys !

How do you deal with your youth intake contract wise, do you sign your best youth prospects on standard 2 years youth contract or try to sign them on pro contract to include that sweet optional contract extension ? That's the first time I try this challenge and fear that my best prospects doesn't want to sign a pro contract after.

And do you sign players with 2 stars potential, if they have good personalities, to make numbers or don't bother try to developp them ? (assuming you have staff with good judging PA)

Thanks !

I sign the best prospects to pro contracts, often it's not much more expensive than the youth contract. It gets more expensive to sign them up as they develop, and as you say they may not want to sign then. I include the extension. If you're not sure about a prospect, you can give them a short-term contract with a long extension. Then if they are developing well you just trigger the extension, if not you can release them.

I sign players with good personalities but low star rating, unless my squad personality is already good or I have too many youth players.

One other thing: if one of my prospects is approaching 4* CA, I try to sign them up on a new long-term contract, because once their ability is 4 - 4.5 stars they often don't want to sign because "squad is not good enough" or something like that. And always try to "remove and exclude from negotiation" with any release clauses.

I sign all those with 3* potential and above to pro deals and will pay a little bit more to allow me to add optional extensions at my discretion.

@Lexclub, I think this is how most plays. Better to pay a bit more to avoid getting the talents sniped by bigger clubs.

XaW - Folkestone Invicta - 2030/31

200px-Folkestone_Invicta_F.C._logo.png

Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

After the very surprising League Two title last season, I had no idea what to expect from League One. However, before the season even were close to start Reading poached Jamie Kelner 30d from us for a pittance. Quite annoyed by that, but nothing I could do about it. The league itself started good though, as we went the first 9 matches without losing. Granted, we drew 6 of them, but still. So it turns out my team is still pretty competitive, and a few of my players are rated Championship level. Though a few others are still rated Vanarama level, so it's a bit unbalanced at the moment. This means we can beat pretty much everyone, at least around our tier, but we can also lose to everyone if we are missing a few players. And that showed in a few games. In the end, though, we finished in a very good 4th place and got a playoff spot. No team ran away from the rest, so we were up sniffing on a promotion spot, and even the title, but in the end we had to settle for the playoffs. Here we drew Hull City, a team beat and drew in the league. In the away leg we were very unlucky, and Hull scored on all their chances in a 4-1 defeat. In the home leg we tried to pull back, but could only win 2-1. So Hull knocked us out and we have to stay in League One next season as well. Still, it was way better than I had feared before the season. We did make money this season, and that is promising for the future. We are also in the planning on building a new stadium, but it's pretty much all up in the air at the moment.

In the FA Cup we beat Fylde, Mansfield, Oldham and Sheffield Wednesday before losing to Liverpool in the 5th round when my old pal Kyle Meaney 27b scored two times for them... In the League cup we beat Watford and Southampton before losing to Chester on pens in the 3rd round. In the EFL Trophy we finished third in our group, behind Tottenham U23s and Peterborough, but ahead of Oxford United and got knocked out.

The youth intake this season was a bit underwhelming compared to the last few season. Still, we got a couple of good attacking talents in Pete Bartley 31a and Mark Ashby 31b. For the players in my squad we once again got a lot of goals from Mamadú Turé 28a. I've still not been able to get him to sign a full time contract though, so he is still on his part time deal. I hope he will talk to us soon though. Alan Martin 26f were once again amazing on the left wing, while Jonas Sund 29c is getting on great as an attacking midfielder. Mikael Hiilloskorpi 30c have gotten his national debut and kept his spot at the tender age of only 17, while Davion McAdams 27c are almost at 25 caps for Jamaica.

The U18s are continuing their good development and this season they won the U18 Youth Alliance South-East! I don't know if this means they will get promoted or something, but we shall see. In the FA Youth Cup they lost to Cambridge United in the 1st round, while in the U18 Youth Alliance Cup they finished 3rd in a group containing Walsall, Exeter, MK Dons and Burton Albion and got knocked out.

1st season might take me a while as want to sort a couple of tactics to trial before start of the season. Fingers crossed!

So on 2nd look only Adade is a playable player (the rest all grey) an my main keeper is already wanting to leave. As we enter December though form has turned a corner and hoofball tactics are working well (must be the all the experience watching Tony Pulis!)

Youth intake preview is looking ok too:

NK Zadar: 2062/63 season review

Another domestic double secured. Our CL campaign was ended in the first knockouts as we lost to Liverpool, taking them to extra time at Anfield.
I've managed to make it onto the Worldwide Hall of Fame. Not bad for an 83 year old

A number of great performers throughout the season. Our left winger starting to reach his potential.

Youth intake was pretty **** poor.

2026/2027 Russian Winter Update - Battling at the Right End

A good solid start to the season, with some surprising results thrown in have seen the club sit third in the league at the winter break - granted a few clubs around us have games in hand, but right now we're certainly in the European battle.  Sublime at times up front(no one has scored more), although defensively questions really do remain (only bottom three have conceded more).  As for the cup, another Sixth Round exit, this time against Krasnodar.

Youth Candidates

Another top goalkeeping talent.  To go along with the one or two I already have.  Thank god there is more than one place for a keeper in the starting XI... oh... wait...

Transfers

We lost Sergey Gerasismov (25b) early in the summer window, and this left Frolov (20b) to prove himself once again (he was on the cull list) in the Second team for the first half of the season, which tbf, he did and has now been promoted back to the seniors as back-up and survived the cull for another year.

Also, just realised that the 2nd team has their own transfer history screen, so will be adding that on too.  So here it is...

Yeah, really happy with finally getting some facility improvements! Though, I have been lucky with a few youngsters already. There's also the kid at Liverpool who got poached from me... and I didn't get any money for.

Here is also the guy I got the money from btw:

2026/2027 - Youth Intake

Have to admit, really happy with this one, even though the DoF only mentioned the fact that we had a keeper to look forward to.  I have high hopes for 5 players, and other hopes for the rest.  This could be the start of a wonderful world.  Of course, it could all come crashing down as easy.

Youth Intake Squad

Players to Watch

Vadim Novitskiy (27a), 16 - Young stiker that could, in the end be the best striker we have every produced.  Looking forward to see where it goes.  A few seasons in the Youths/Second Team.

image.thumb.png.2051ce99678b1dc0ef6334fd3ff254b2.png

Vladimir Garanin (27b), 16 - Young defensive player who I am re-training into a central midfielder.  Think he could, in the end match Polyakov (23b).

image.thumb.png.025edeecbebb4ad4499be6fc6d7f0c2a.png

Ivan Philippov (27c), 16 - Central midfielder, who will be looking to break into the Second team next season.

image.thumb.png.1d3c8e4e41e9b70a5542e7c2c8b9c579.png

Şähruddin Murtazaliev (27d), 16 - Another quality keeper from the youth team.  Another one to add to the many others in the past.  Will battle out in the future with the rest.

image.thumb.png.dc0ef7f4920e121754b6e1d08bb311d3.png

Alexandr Novitskiy (27e), 16 - Attacking player who can will be re-trained on the right, rather than the left as I am over stocked on the left.  Could see the end of Jankauskas (21c) in next years cull.

We survived easily but we were still awful, I need Jason Surridge and Michael Bennett here for one more season before retiring, that's all I ask.

It really says something when George Godwin is my best player and he's rated as leading for 7th tier sides...everyone else is below that level 22 seasons in.

You really gotta hope for some great talents soon. I'd just like to let you know, I'm loaning out one of my youth players to a team in the VNS, and he is quite remarkably better than your player.

So, I think you need a bunch of better players, but with your upgraded youth facilities, you should at least have a better chance!

Jesus, we're a long way off players of that calibre! 2100 Vanarama North Champions Leiston are ready to party.
