I'm taking a break from full-fat FM and I've dipped my toes into skimmed FM, I mean FM Touch. Did a lot of reloading last night and I'm already into my third season with Leiston! I'll put the two end of season posts I've already done over on FMCU together in the next post. :)

5 wins from the final 22 matches see us finish a place lower than last season, and next season will be very tough because our top scorer Jake Bunn doesn't want to sign a new contract.

Decided to start this myself after a couple of days of scrolling through this thread, regens are easily my favorite part of the game so I'm excited to see what I can do!

2023/24 Season - Russian Winter Update - When Will I win Again...

The continued wait for our first win in 90 minutes this season continues, unfortunately since the last update there have been a couple of defeats in there sees me going into the winter break bottom of the league but I still believe we can get at least 14th, and take our chances with the playoffs If not 12th and safety outright.

As you will also see - the two lovely green circles were also draws after 90 minutes

In some better news, young Stanislav Voronov(21a) has been shortlisted for young player of the year, although he has some tough competition for the award.

Away from the actual action, the Youth Candidate details were released, and I was also approached for another job, which I obviously rejected.

Season Review:

After 3 years we are back in 2. Bundesliga and we can be fairly happy with the season outcome. The start of the season wasn't good for us as we collected several heavy defeats in league and additionally we were also defeated in the 1st round of the German cup against Bochum. We were sitting rock bottom after our first 10 matches, so I realized that something needs to change. I decided to slightly modify my 4-1-2-2-1 from the last season to 4-1-4-1. Instantly we started to play better and grabbing points from our matches. Between October and the end of December, we managed to win 7 games out of 10.

a5UwZ6p.png

As turned out this was the crucial part of the season as we were never in danger of getting relegated after this superb run of form. The last third of the season wasn't so good anymore but we added some additional points to our tally which saw us finish on the 12th position. Not bad for such a minnow.

Unfortunately, the Board again decided to sell one of our biggest prospects in the youth academy to Paderborn. Dominik Krämer started to develop nicely and in one or two seasons he could be an important part of our first team. Paderborn saw his talent and grabbed him for 275k €. It's not bad but not brilliant either.

The player that really stood out this season was Jörg Ruhani. In one of the matches, he even scored a hattrick and that isn't bad for the defender. He is developing nicely and I hope that we will be able to keep him also for the next season. The best scorer was again Utku Kani and although he is not the youngest one, constantly good performances kept him in the team for a whole decade. I hope that he still has the season or two in his legs.

Youth Academy:

The best three players from this season's youth intake are:

Aim for next Season:

We managed to survive in the 2nd tier of German football. Let's hope we will be able to maintain or even upgrade our position also in the next season. The battle will be hard again and for sure we will have some struggles but with the team developing nicely I think we will be able to pull a good season. After this season we got 9,6 Mill. € and whit this money I hope the Board will be willing to upgrade the training and youth facilities. The pulls from youth academy in recent years were not the best so we will need to make some changes to further develop and upgrade our club.

Slovenia is going to be more difficult than Belarus already. We have a grand total of 8 players, so I'll have to rely on grey players for most of the season until the youth comes in. There's also a rule where U17s can't play. Pretty much signed my own death warrant here.

How we got out of this alive God only knows. We conceded 22 goals more than anyone else, but scored a fair few as well. It's really hard to do this with only 8 real players. Especially when they get injured/suspended. We also had someone leave in January reducing us to 7. But with the youth intake we should have a full, but weak team. Also managed to increase junior coaching and youth recruitment, and given our finances look set to do the same again next season.

A good intake, but I expected as much given we have next to no players in our squad. Interesting to already see a couple of non-Slovenes as well.

It's nice to see people starting in Germany. I started a week ago with Lokomotiv Leipzig but wait to complete a season before posting here.

I'm looking forward to see how you manage transition between real players and regens as you can't play them until they are 17. I've also find that there is a rule to have 4 u-23 in the matchday squad. It can be tricky the first few years. Good luck !

I've found in a past save with Olympia Ljubjlana that Slovenia tends to produce players with low determination. Don't know if it's pure bad luck or if countries have some tendancies in regens caracteristics apart from PA...

Thanks! Hopefully the low determination doesn't affect us too much, we seem to not have a problem with it at present, but that could easily change.

Thanks! More worrisome than the 17 rule is the fact that, with such a low reputation my players are whining at every chance they get.

I wonder what this would be like in Germany?  Very tough initially I would expect, reading the entries above.  The biggest issue is newgens cannot be used until they reach 17 years of age.  I may start one on here but not post until I have finished a season.

Couple of quick updates

New board and now gone PLC. Is that good? Going to lose more money each month? (currently around £1.5m a month)

Hurray centre-backs!! Boo more wingers!! I'm really, really hoping that we got a first-team ready CB. I have no idea what to do if we get another high-potential winger, Esgaio and Pereira are bossing it this year and it'd take someone special to displace either.

Youth Candidates

hn0SZxe.png

Not the first-team ready superstars I was hoping for, but not a bad crop. Finally a CB who I pray can live up to his potential. No clue what to do with that winger, either hope he's going to develop a tonne in the u19s or sell him for some kind of profit. We've also now got 3 GKs with 5* potential, so that's nice.

Edmundo Machado (YP4a)

Vf6DVWs.png

A CB!! I'm a bit worried about him though, those stats are all over the place. I'd have loved that 12 to be anywhere else but free kicks. His determination and personality are worrying, but nothing mentoring can't fix. If we can round out his defensive stats, I think he could be a star CB for us.

Nélson Abreu (YP4b)

zaYC8PT.png

Any other save, I'd be happy to have him. But with Esgaio having the LW spot locked down, Abreu is going to have to develop crazily to even be considered. With 12 crossing, training him in another position would be a waste. I'll keep an eye on him though, because his stats look good and with a few improvements, I could be eating my words about him.

Ricardo Algarvio (YP4c)

pIabBGS.png

A bit annoying we got another LB instead of a much needed CB or RB, especially as there's no way he could be good at either of those positions, but I'm hopeful about Algarvio. Physicals and mentals are looking solid for a 16 year old at our level, with some work on those technicals we could have a nice wing-back on our hands.

A Regen Brother!

26Cdl5a.png

Shame he's literally the worst player in the intake

200px-Folkestone_Invicta_F.C._logo.png

Table | Squad | Transfers | Finances

We survived last season, and the goal remained the same; simply avoid the drop. I actually managed to keep all my players this season, and that was not something I expected. Several players have had big teams sniffing around them, but so far no huge bids and no unhappiness. The season started well and we didn't lose for the first 5 matches. We were actually in the contention for a playoff spot for the most of the season, but in the end we finished a point short. Due to the congestion of teams around our points total we ended in 11th place, but only 3 points behind 6th.

The youth intake this season were once again great. We got in a lot of useful and good talents, but once again it was a striker who stole the headlines. This time an Irish kid, Kyle Meaney 27b. A real talent, but I might lose him soon as I didn't get him to sign anything other than a youth contract, and he refuses to talk now. Of our previous youth players, I'd like to mention a few. Sinisa Fumic 26a stayed the entire season, and I hope I can keep him further. Alan Martin 26f had an excellent season on the left wing, and Dara Lehane 25e does amazing as our playmaker. I'd also like to mention a couple of non-newgens who are leaving us this summer. Johan ter Horst is a true Folkestone legend and have been with us for a long time, but he is getting on quite a bit now. His strike partner for many yearsIra Jackson Jr, is also leaving.

We've also improved our youth rating after the season, so hopefully the youth players will play in a league soon!

nPESkOy.png

In the FA Cup we beat Kings Langley and Stevenage before losing to Peterborough in the 2nd round. In the FA Trophy we beat Yeovil Town, Swindon Town, Barrow, Halifax Town and Woking (mostly after replays) to reach the final. Here we beat Salford to claim our first ever trophy!

Just did a quick comparison of Sinisa Fumic 26a from when he came through (right) and now (left), and he is really coming along nicely. I do hope I can keep him.

Damnit! I didn't get him to sign a full contract, so we lost him...

He is a really good player, so this hurts! And the fact that I'm going to face him this season hurts even more!

Parva League 9thRelegation Group 1st – European Playoff Winner

Fixtures (1) -- Fixtures (2) -- Stats -- Awards -- Season Review -- Transfer -- Overall Best XI -- Key Player -- Hot Prospect -- Squad -- Finances

A weird league really, we did not awful, but that was largely down to us being a pretty boring team for the most part, our first 8 games saw us keep 7 clean sheets but only win two games. The quality difference is fairly apparent in this league, but we held our own for the most part and players continuing to improve is bound to help. Midseason saw us have some pretty poor form where we went 10 games without winning as we approached the league split. Luckily, we picked up a win just before the split which helped improve morale in the squad. Relegation group was pretty straight forward 5 clean sheets from 6.

That sends us to a knockout competition with the winners of the two relegation groups to get to the final against the team that finished 3rd in the championship group to qualify to the Europa Conference League thanks to two penalty shootout victories and one late goal in the other game to win us the playoff and qualify us for Europe despite finishing nearer the bottom than the top.

Our best players this year as determined by the player of the year awards:

Ahmed Genchev 2b: A much less effective season for Genchev this season, however we were playing in a higher league so its understandable as our team won a lot less games this season. Only 2 goals and 1 assist for the season not a great return.

Radoslav Ivanov 1a: Ivanov has been a regular starter for us near enough since he came through the intake but plays in a less glamorous position as a Ball Winning midfielder so it’s harder for him to get good ratings so it probably says a lot about our season that he was rated to be our second best player, all round solid player, and well on track to be our all time leading appearance maker.

Ivaylo Georgiev 3e: Georgiev is a player who is fairly similar to Genchev however, due to Genchev’s performances for us in previous years he’s had to play in a role he doesn’t suit as well to get in the team. He still had a pretty solid season and actually contributed more on the whole with 3 goals and 2 assists in the league.

Special mention  Miroslav Chervenkov 2d: Chervenkov fresh off the back of setting the record for the most clean cheats in the Vtora Liga managed to equal the record in the Prava Liga of 19 clean sheets which is very good.

Youth Intake

Another far from fantastic youth intake however, we do have one player who is already straight in to challenge for a starting spot which I feel at this stage is a good thing. Yet again I’m contemplating changing my formation to a strikerless one due to so few strikers of any real quality coming through the youth system. Unfortunately, in spite me trying more than once, it seems my youth intake screenshot did not take so no overview this year.

Youth intake 2026 – Ones to Watch

Martin Rusev 6a: Rusev is the player straight in to challenge for first team football, he doesn’t have many attributes that are currently very good, however, he has a very good basis to improve in the future – he is only 16 afterall. On his first start he got a goal and 2 assists not a bad way to start.

Fabio DaGrosa 6b: American-Bulgarian mixed nationality for DaGrosa, he looks an interesting enough prospect if not lacking physically. He is in a situation where there are numerous players ahead of him in his position, so he has plenty time to develop without first team pressure upon him.

Antonio Popov 6c: Popov is only really likely to be developed into back up, but extra strength in depth I guess is nothing to be sad about he is some way from being first team ready so will remain in our under 19s for the time being, though wouldn’t be the craziest suggestion that he’ll get to a good enough level.

Lachezar Todorov 6d: Todorov is a goalkeeper that does have some glaring weaknesses in his game but at least some potential. In all honesty, I hope he never has to feature for the first team as it would mean our current first choice goalkeeper would leave and I don’t want that to happen.

News/Looking Ahead

We finally got a takeover who cleared our debts so I immediately asked for an improved Youth Recruitment which was granted, and really as a whole we have been a lot more stable with our finances this year which is good to see and hopefully will result in some facilities upgrades before too long especially as our training facilities actually got downgraded which is a shame.. Incidentally we got takeover rumours again before the end of the season which is interesting.

Many of our players were called up to various age groups on international youth teams – mainly Bulgaria apart from our Israeli striker from the last intake also receiving one for Israel (obviously).

I’m optimistic going forward in hoping that we can try to get into the Championship Group next season, however lack of goals are an issue, though weirdly it does seem that our chances of getting into Europe again could actually be better if we went into the Relegation Group.

NK Zadar: 2059/60 season review

Another 3rd placed finish as we managed to salvage a somewhat poor season, spending most of it in the bottom half. I was worried that the sack would come which has made me realise I'd be gutted to give this career up. We will push on.

A poor CL campaign as we dropped out of the group stage to Valencia and Dortmund. Our Europa League journey ended in the 2nd round knockouts after a 8-2 aggregate spanking to Chelsea.
We did have some success as we won the domestic cup.

Squad stats with Rodgers leading the ranks in average rating, goals and assists.

Youth intake was a disappointment as we only took on one recruit.

We defied expectations, picking up results here and there and scraping into missing relegation. I expect this struggle to continue, especially with our young squad. None of our players are considered good enough for the second division, so it'll be fun. But with our junior coaching being upgraded again, this next batch is going to be even better. Now that we've turned pro we've been haemorrhaging money, so this is likely to be our last upgrade for a while.

Our first intake as a professional club, and I'm very impressed. Three players that can immediately slot straight into the first team. The problem that @Lexclub alluded to regarding low determination has reared its ugly head, with a lot of horrible personalities here. The HOYD might need to move on if this continues.

Another "Golden Generation", this time I am quite disappointed as there isn't anyone close to the first team.  Interesting to see so many nationalities though.

We're somehow fighting for a promotion playoff spot! We have an incredibly tough run-in (we play 1st and 2nd in the next five games) but if we can take points off either, we could do something special.

We continue to improve slowly, but we be losing Dragan Kodermac 3B as I'm selling him before his contract runs out to try and cash in on him. He's far too good for this level and we are losing money so it seems like the right thing to do. He's wanted by Maribor, the best team in Slovenia by far so he might be special. But we have adequate backup for his position for now, so it could be okay. We will just continue to keep plugging away and stay in this division.

:( Could've went either way. I thought a hyper-attacking heavy pressing tactic would compensate for their overall much stronger team and it almost worked. We're down to 3rd, but play 2nd next in a game which will decide who goes into the playoffs.

 End of Season Review

Season 2022/23

FC United of Manchester

Errea is named new technical sponsor of FC United of Manchester!

League Table - We were top virtually from the start until February, before we tried to implode.  We recovered towards the end of the season though a 1-0 loss at promotion rivals Darlington dropped us back to second place.  On the final day of the season, we drew 0-0 at Kings Lynn Town and after 90 minutes Darlington were also drawing 0-0, at Curzon Ashton, before Darlington conceded a goal at the death and dropped to second, enabling us to win the title in the tightest finish possible.

League Fixtures 1, 2 & 3 - A cracking first half of the campaign

F. A. Cup - A poor campaign, we did make it through two rounds before playing very poorly when losing at Chorley.

F. A. Trophy - When it became clear we had a shot at promotion, I played a lot of reserves and it showed, going out at the first time of asking, 3-1 at home to Kings Lynn Town.

Pre Season Friendlies - More defeats than usual, with Aberdeen being the only scalp of note.

Squad - We continue to get stronger, though some players are getting upset when I turn down offers for them.

Squad Dynamics - As good as always.

Transfers In - None.

Transfers Out - I trimmed the squad with youngsters not good enough and veterans on the decline being sold or released.  We did sell one prospect for £100,000 to balance the books.

Youth Candidates - A "Golden Generation" that disappointed.  Mike Driver YP24B50 looks the pick of the bunch.

Finances - We are in the red as we continue to lose money.  I am now dreading the chairman selling a player over my head.

Key Players

Alan Benson YP22F22 - The best player at the club.  Each transfer window it is getting harder and harder to keep him.

Özer Demir YP22C19 - The Turkish left winger has had a sensational season.

Obi Obi YP2E21 - The right back who displaced Nick Ryder YP21D4.  Now firmly established.

Adam Chapman YP22D20 - Central midfielder who has taken the place of Regan Linney.

Dean Curran YP21C3 - A quality centre half who scores regularly too.

Next Season

Survival.

We did it!! But at what cost. My star winger is out for 2 months and with some tough teams in the playoffs, promotion could still be a pipe dream.

Probably the best draw we could've got. They may have finished top, but our squads are on similar levels so I'm quietly confident.

A comfortable passage through to the semi-final with my goalkeeper scoring twice in the 2nd leg!

Fafe await in the semi-final, the winner across two legs goes up. I'm not confident, they are a very strong team with a lot of second division-level players. Most of their star players are wanted by Primeira Liga clubs. I'm going to have to try and steal a win at home then grind out something away. However, they seem to be perennial chokers, finishing 2nd twice and not promoting.  Wish me luck.

WOOHOO!! This might be my greatest achievement in Football Manager. To get this side, predicted to be the 10th worst team out of 84 teams at the start of the season to the 2nd Division is nothing short of special. I couldn't care less about the final now, we're up and that's what matters.

We're going to get absolutely killed in the Second Division, but I don't care. The benefits it's going to have are huge and can allow me to get the club in a position to really start moving in the right direction. I'll also stop spamming the thread up now

Shock is an understatement. We absolutely played them off the pitch!! All we need to do is shut up shop now and we're in the Second Division!!

Brilliant stuff.
