Jimbokav1971
Sep 2020. Premier League. 3 wins on the bounce, (following on from 6 without defeat), secures us only our 2nd Premier League title ever, (and obviously my first). With it we gain entry into the Champions League First Qualifying phase for next season. We still have 2 games to play but the gap to SJK is 9 points and Honka, (who have a game in hand), are fully 15 points behind. Our late-season form has absolutely smashed the opposition to bits. Goal-scoring GK. 20 year old Ellström (F.Sport) scored a penalty and the below free-kick this month to bring his total for the season to 13 goals in 39 games, consisting of 11 penalties from 12 attempts and 2 direct free-kicks. Unlike Brazil where everyone was nicking penalties when they were on a hat-trick and where my GK was also being called up for NT duty, here he has played in every match and taken every penalty. My personal Trophy Cabinet. Well that's what this little save is all about isn't it? I'm going to see how many Scandi competitions I can win before FM20 arrives. (I'm unsure yet whether I will do this again in FM20, (I was meant to go back and absolutely obliterate Brazil), but when your GK is scoring 20 goals a season I think it's time to move on. I guess I'm seeing if I can be bothered with the hassle of changing clubs again and again and again and again, because that's the hard bit of a challenge like this. The work involved in joining a new club and fixing everything that is wrong with it and signing and developing players, (often with no money), is a hard, thankless task. I've enjoyed doing it with IFK, (I didn't have control of players at Klubi-04 so that doesn't count), but to think I might win the Finnish Cup next season and then have to do it all over again isn't hugely appealing if I'm honest. Jimbokav1971
End of Season. Oct 2020. Finnish Cup. Premier League. HJK are somehow in the Playoffs, (which is absolutely ridiculous given their squad). If they get relegated, (I'm not even sure that's possible), then I will find it very hard not to take them over if/when the manager is sacked. Overall Best XI. Finances. Jimbokav1971
Pre Season. Apr 2021. Finnish Cup. Normally I wouldn't pay too much attention to a competition like this but I want to win it before leaving and the longer pre-season this year was geared around us being in better condition than the opposition at the start of the season. I think it worked but we are lacking in depth in both attacking and defensive wide positions and it's where we also seem to get the most injuries. Anyway, although the unbeaten run is over, we still finished top pf the group and will give the rest of the competition a right good go when it restarts again. Friendlies. I know these mean absolutely nothing, but beating Swedes Djurgårdens IF at their place in front of 3,000+ fans was nice.
Jimbokav1971
Apr & May 2021. Premier League. When you consider that we have been prioritising the Finnish Cup ahead of league games, I think we have done remarkably well. We have been forced to blood a number of youngsters way before their time and even though performances have suffered as a result, the game-time these players have been given is an investment rather than a cost and will stand us in good stead in the future. As it happens we are top of the league by 3 points and have only lost 1 game. Finnish Cup. Well I would like to be showing you a nice new shiny trophy, but I'm afraid that FM doesn't work like that. We got all the way to the final and took Ilves to extra-time, but ultimately came up short. Goals in the 111th and then a penalty in the 118th minute were enough to end our interest in the Finnish Cup for another season. My plan was to win the Finnish Cup and then romp off into the sunset and go and land in Sweden or Norway. I hadn't quite considered that we would get to the final and lose. I had just assumed we would win. We already had the following leagues loaded, but I have just realised that there were more leagues for both Norway and Sweden that I hadn't activated. I'm not sure if this is an error on my part or if this will screw the game now, but I will try and keep a save at the start of December just in case. If there was a job available in Iceland right now, I think I would jump ship.
Jimbokav1971
New contract. Jun 2021. We're currently contracted until November 2021, which gets us through to the end of this domestic season. If I'm aiming to get through to the Group Stages of the Europa League, (If HJK can do it in 2018/19 and 2020/21 then I must be in with a chance at least of getting close), then our European campaign might not be over when my contract expires, but I will at least have an indication of how much money we are going to get out of it. I think I'm going to keep declining talks until I see hoe the European campaign goes. It might get me really invested in IFK and I might not want to leave, but at the moment I'm ready to go. There are just no suitable clubs available. If I'm contracted until November and the 4 new leagues start in December 2021 and Jan 2022, then I should be able to find something. My reputation is now at 1.0 star. (I'm not sure what it starts at). If I can win another League title this season and then have a decent European campaign then it might be enough to boost it a little. I didn't manage to get my next coaching licence sorted. I asked too early and the board declined because of financial reasons, and then when we did have the money I was unable to ask again so soon. When I could ask, we no longer had any money and it was refused again.

Jimbokav1971
Jun & Jul 2021. Premier League. It's not been a great couple of months, with 2 losses and 3 draws from 8 games, but in the grand scheme of things, (all will become clear), I'm not overly concerned. We currently sit 3rd in the league behind VPS and Ilves, but we have FOUR games in hand on both of them and are only 3 points behind VPS. HJK have a new Manager, (my old Ass Man), and he is actually an ex HJK player. He has won 2 of his first 3 games and looks to be a significant step up from what has gone before. I would therefore expect that HJK, (in 6th place with a game in hand even on us), are our most likely challengers in the league. Champions League Qualifying. We've done brilliantly so far, (against the odds). BATE Borisov made it to the Group stages of the Europe League once and to the 4th qualifying round twice in the last 3 years. Slavia Prague made it to the Group Stages of the Europa League twice in 3 years and even managed to get out of the group on one occasion. So while it might not seem that we are doing that great, actually we are doing astonishingly well in beating not 1 but 2 clubs who regularly get to the business end, (at least as far as we are concerned), of European competition. The BATE games were tight, but we completely demolished Slavia Prague and even with a completely rotated squad we only lost the return leg by a single goal in a tight game. #JobDone
Jimbokav1971
7 hours ago, kidthekid said: incredible!!! (RE: Pakkanen) It was pretty incredible. I love that he actually broke the record and set a new one rather than just equalled the record. We score a lot of goals from set-pieces, but more from throw-ins than corners and free-kicks. My strategy is to simply overload the opposition and recently, (after the last update), I find myself conceding more often than before, as the AI seeks to counter my aggressive positioning and much as it pains me, I quite like that the game is challenging me to either be less offensive or risk paying the consequences. My tactic at the moment is not what the AI is expecting, (I hope), and instead of dropping a player or 2 back, I have simply given my GK a more adventurous duty in an attempt to cover more ground and put pressure on the attackers. Jimbokav1971
Youth Intake Day. Aug 2021. Interestingly, the highlighted player is only ranked 4th by PA. This could be a very good intake, or a very bad one. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a very bad intake. The only players that I have any interest in really are (21a), (21b) and (21d). (21c) is a playmaker who seemingly can't play or make. I've had some consistently decent intakes in FM19 so I think I have to take rubbish one's like this on the chin. We really need to earn some cash and crank up some upgrades to improve things. I really wanted a decent striker. I didn't get one. "Kriss" (21a) Arvidsson (Res) (2021). Jimbokav1971
Aug 2021. Premier League. We have been decimated by injuries and suspensions, but the biggest reason for our 2 losses is that I have been completely rotating the squad for the Champions League games. We might be down to 4th, but we still have 6 games in hand on the leaders, although they are now 9 points ahead. This isn't about the Premier League though. Champions League Qualifying. I still can't believe that we choked and didn't qualify. We swept past Dinamo Zagreb with a couple of late goals and I thought we had seen off fellow Scandi's Lillestrom after winning the away leg 2-1. Surely we couldn't lose at home? And even if we lost, as long as we only lost 1-0 then that was fine too. No. We could lose and we did lose. We should have won but we didn't. We could have won but we didn't. This was to qualify for the Group Stages of the Champions League with a rubbish little Finnish club at the 1st time of asking for God's sake!!!!! I don't often get too down when I lose a Football Manager game, but I must admit to being a bit gutted here. At least is until I saw this...... Oh that's fine. I had completely forgotten that if I lost we would go into the Europa League anyway and that would always have been good enough for me. We are nowhere near Champions League Group stage level yet and it would have been ridiculous had we qualified.

Jimbokav1971
Poor Goal-keeping. Sep 2021. While this shows 2 more direct free-kicks scored by GK's, it also shows some pretty poor Goal-Keeping. Ellström (F.Sport) is now up to 8 goals for the season, (6 from 6 penalties at 100% which is pretty impressive for someone with a penalty taking attribute of 1 I think you would agree), and these 2 free-kicks, but he also has 2 assists to him name this season. He is now up to 21 career goals at the age of 21.
Jimbokav1971
Sep 2021. Premier League. We've been in really good form when you consider that the Europa League games are obviously our priority. We dropped 2 points against Honka, but with the number of young players we have played, it was a price well worth paying. We are top of the league and have 3 games in hand. Europa League. I'm not sure how we didn't win the Midtjylland game never mind how we lost it by not 1 but 2 goals. A point away to Basel on the hand was probably a good point. (First Couple of years had to keep some rubbish players on the team for club-trained) I've been overpaying for 16 year olds. Sold one to Man City after 2 years for 15 Million got on a free and he wouldn't re-sign...He was a stud striker The Best youth academy product is an 18 year old Backup Center Back with 17 Speed but can't mark (9). Jimbokav1971
Double figure GK goals in Finland. Oct 2021. 21 year old Ellström (F.Sport) scores his 10th goal of the season, (7 penalties from 7 taken and 3 direct free-kicks), with an excellent free-kick. It brings him to 23 career goals. I know this pales in comparison to the number of goals my GK was scoring in Brazil, but you have to remember that I chose not just the Brazilian structure, but also that particular State Championship for just that very reason. 10 goals for a season somewhere like Finland is still a mighty impressive feat, especially when we are still a young developing side. Jimbokav1971
Facilities. Nov 2021. Something I have never done before in FM is to buy an existing stadium. As you can see above, at the moment our stadium is owned by the local Council and we pay a rental fee of 3% of the gate receipts for each match. That The thing is, although I want to do it because I have never done it before, I'm not sure it actually makes economic sense right now. For example, we are only talking about domestic games and the very 1st qualifying Round in the Champions League, because after that we play at other stadia anyway, (and these all seem to charge us the same 3% anyway), so how much money are we going to gain by owning our current stadium in it's current form? Well the total amount we have received in gate receipts this season is £565,882, but actually that includes the European games that have mostly been paid elsewhere and where we would still pay the 3$ rental fee, so we have to go back and look at the figures for the previous season and that gives us a much reduced figure of £78,944. Well 3% of that is only £2,368, so in terms of financial reasoning, there is little reason if any to purchase the ground at this stage, (other than fact that it would be cool to do so of course). If I was staying here long term then this might be a stepping stone towards expanding the stadium and at some point in the future it might become financially beneficial, but at the moment..... not so much. Maybe this is something I will do before leaving just to tick it off the list.
Jimbokav1971
Oct & Nov 2021. The club are still keen to get me to sign a new contract and with my current deal expiring at the end of November I am starting to look at my next move of the save. Premier League. It will be of no surprise to many of you that with the title secured, we fielded a very young side in the last game against FC Lahti. I wouldn't say that it backfired, because once again, the playing time given to these young players is really an investment in their and our future. It might seem strange that I am planning for the clubs future when I know that I will not be here long-term, but that's certainly my style as a FM player and more then that now it's my identity as a character in the game too. I may be planning on moving clubs, but the way I will run clubs doesn't have to change. I still want to improve youth products at the club and identify and bring in other young players to push the club forward. The idea of signing a 30+ year old on big wages for a big fee just doesn't appeal to me. It's short-termism, doesn't offer value for money and importantly doesn't really add to my enjoyment of the game. We won the league by 8 points in the end but it could and should have been more. There were at least 3 games where we lost because I significantly weakened the squad for various reasons, but that's something that will continue. Europa League. With 2 games left to play it looks like an uphill task to qualify from here. but I don't think we are out of it quite yet and also think that we have been a little unlucky in this campaign. We are about to play Midtjylland away and then play Basel at home. If we can beat the Danes then it should be an interesting finale in the last game against the Swiss. I probably need to win both games and hope that the Turks can do us a favour in one of their games. Overall Best XI. Season Review.
Jimbokav1971
Nov & Dec 2021. Europa League. We managed to beat Midtjylland in the 1st of these 2 huge games, but we couldn't finish the job against Basel in the last game. It was still a hugely successful campaign, (especially financially), but we definitely missed an opportunity to progress to the knockout stages at the 1st time of asking. My contract has now expired and I have learned from my previous period without a club and instead of resigning I will be staying on with a month to month contract until I move elsewhere or until the board decide to bin me. (Unlikely but not impossible). I am obviously keen to have another pop at the Finnish Cup, (which is all done and dusted by May), but I would be prepared to leave before then for the right opportunity. Whatever happens though, I really don't envisage me being here at the end of next season,

Jimbokav1971
Job Offer. Dec 2021. Lunds BK are in the Swedish Second Division East Götaland, (4th tier), and are 2nd favourites for the title, (although the board expect us to win). In terms of competition reputation, we have moved from the Finnish Premier League, (ranked 47th), to the Swedish 2nd Division, (ranked 125th). There was mention of the drop in playing level at the interview, but it didn't seem to matter. Taking over a club with demanding expectations from the start is not very common for me. My personal preference is to do things on the slowly-slowly and start with and exceed low expectations. I changed things up on this occasion because of the drop in level. It just seemed more realistic. We have won this title twice previously, (2009 & 2017), and I will be looking to make it a 3rd at the 1st time of asking. We haven't won anything else. Facilities. The facilities are pretty good for this lowly level of football I think. As a result I would expect a stonking Youth Intake when it arrives. (No idea when). Finances. Surprisingly we have a few quid in the bank and are significantly under our wage budget. Staff. We don't have an Ass Man at the moment so I can't even take a guess at how good the squad is, (I really do trust the stars until I get to know the squad). I have given the Chairman responsibility for signing all staff, including a DoF). At the moment it's just him and me. At the very least I want an Ass Man and a HoYD. We've signed a DoF and a HoYD, but I'm still awaiting an Ass Man. It appears as if we have 5 players with 5.0 PA. The best players at the club seem to be these two, who are both rated at 4.0 PA. Jimbokav1971
Jan 2022. We have 72 players at the club and that seems ridiculous. I personally prefer a large squad, but there needs to be some sort of balance between youth players, Reserve players in development and First Teamers. We seem to have lots of very limited players and very few top end players. I will be trying to re-classify everyone during the close season and get rid of some of the weaker links. We've started quite well, but it could and should have been even better. In the game that we lost against FK Karlskrona, we were 2-0 up and conceded the 3rd goal in the 93rd minute after gifting them their 2nd with a penalty. Jimbokav1971
Sept 2022. Swedish Second Division East Götaland. I continued to and increasingly blooded more youngsters as the season came to an end. Using an IR button you have to change the way you blood youngsters. In normal circumstances you would start them on the bench and then introduce them late on. With IR however you have to start them and then allow the Ass Man to withdraw them at half time and hope the "finishers" can claw back any deficit. Start too many youngsters though or injuries in other positions can scupper the best laid plans though. 27 year old goal-scoring GK (11) Norman (F.Sport) has finished the season with just 4 goals, (1 penalty from 1 attempted and 3 direct free-kicks), but we are very much a team in transition and still adapting to my tactic. We are quite a long way having players suited to the tactic and there are lots of square pegs in round holes currently Reserves/U21's. There seems to be no promotion/relegation at this level and interestingly no Playoff games post season to decide the winner of the winners. Instead there are 12 different league winners at 1 single level. I don't like that at all. U19's. Interestingly, where as there is no relegation/promotion at Reserve/U21 level, there is at U19 level. We are not at that stage yet though. Overall Best XI. Season Summary. Job Security. Finances. Facilities.

No domestic Cup seems strange. It was played strangely enough when the structure was non-playable so not sure what is going on but hopefully it resolves itself. I don't know anything about Sweden so it's possible that we just didn't qualify for the Cup. We're Semi-Pro which again is a bit unusual for me. In my usual sort of game I wouldn't be caring about the progress because it's a marathon rather than a sprint and all that, but I want this save to be different. I wonder do I try and jump ship again to a big team at the new level, (tier 3), and see where that takes me? The only problem with this is that it takes longer to get the team sorted than it does to play a whole season. I guess I will just see what we are up against in the league above. Jimbokav1971
Save Tracker. Nov 2022. Trophy cabinet. Finnish First Division Manager of the Year 2018.Finnish premier League Manager of the Year 2019. Finnish Premier League 2020.Finnish Premier League 2021. Swedish Second Division East Götaland 2022. [Edit] Thought it might be a nice idea to actually see where I have been. Klubi-04 are based in Helsinki in Finland and from there we moved to IFK Mariehamn, (also in Finland), but in the Åland Islands located between Sweden and Finland. From IFK Mariehamn I then moved to Sweden and Lund. Interestingly Lund now play in the Swedish First Division North when they appear to actually be almost as Southerly as it is possible for a Swedish team to be. Obviously Iceland is further North and that's an option at some point, and all of Norway is North of where I am now. Tromsø IL are in the Norwegian top flight and amazingly the Northern part of Norway is actually a group of many islands connected to the mainland by a series of bridges. (Amazing!!!) . The picture shows Tromsø at night and you can see another bridge on the far side. I never knew this about Norway. I personally prefer a large squad, but there needs to be some sort of balance between youth players, Reserve players in development and First Teamers. We seem to have lots of very limited players and very few top end players. I will be trying to re-classify everyone during the close season and get rid of some of the weaker links. Dec 2022. I inherited 72 players which is an awful lot. Had some of them been decent then I wouldn't have minded so much, but the quality was very poor in the main. Almost a year on, I have been working hard to resolve the situation and it now looks like this. We have dropped/released 35 players to bring us down to just 37 players at the club and this includes the fact that I signed 9 players from this years Youth Intake, (so I actually released 44 players in the last season). Some of these will have been on PT contracts and some will have been on Youth contracts that have expired, but most were here on a non-contract basis. My thinking is that with this many players at the club, the standard of training would have been much reduced. We have a significant amount of wage budget to spend, but I'm not keen on spending just for the sake of it. I'm hoping that when we are actually in Tier 3 we find it slightly easier to attract players of a higher quality. At the moment I am just sifting through scout reports and awaiting inspiration. Jimbokav1971
Expectations. Dec 2022. It's interesting/frustrating to note that there is no domestic cup tournament included again. The top team gets promoted and the runner-up goes into a playoff. In terms of relegation, it's a straight bottom 3 go down. From getting absolutely no prize money last season, we will at least get a few quid at the end of the season. Jimbokav1971
What a celebration! Apr 2023. If I was a GK who scored goals like this, I would celebrate too. (Watch the celebration for the 2nd goal that starts as soon as the ball leaves his foot). 2 goals in a game. I would love to score a hat-trick of free-kicks but that's a bit much isn't it. Hat-tricks I've done, but a hat-trick of free-kicks? Surely that's not doable.
Jimbokav1971
3rd goal of the season. Jul 2023. It's interesting to note that although (11) Norman (F.Sport) has now scored 3 free-kicks this season, he failed with his only effort from the spot. What is it I wonder about this GK that means he is not good at converting from the spot? Ellstrom scored 10 out of 10 in Finland in his 1st season I think, (and his penalty taking attribute was 1), so with Norman having a penalty taking attribute of 3, why does he miss more?
