With the sale of Koren we were lacking at CB now also so that left me with a shopping list for a CB, CM and ST minimum.

First to come in was a pre-arranged deal, 18 year old Russian striker from Arsenal Tula, he has Azeri as a second nationality and will drop into the 2nd team. Our first major signing was this guy...

Cieslar.thumb.PNG.2db7e853da7123e857e020834eba3661.PNG

A 19 year old Czech sensation, signed from Jablonec for £1.1m, a fee which could prove a bargain. He has some great technical stats for finishing and heading especially. Mentals need working on but hes only young. Physicals are all round OK. He's started with a bit of bang also with 7 goals in 11 games overall.

Next up...

Szabo.thumb.PNG.735e88d2cefa680aa313b1dc358b7e0f.PNG

A centre back, there seems to be a real lack of good cheap CB's in my save at the minute, well at least ones with double figures for heading, plenty with good tackling but they can't head a ball. So I spent £1.3m on this guy from Vidi FC. A really solid player for 18 years old and will only get better, I don't see him staying here for too long. I like his media description of a 'powerful centre-back'.

Lastly...

Voros.thumb.PNG.869548e8e15428e251f1202daf818f2d.PNG

Voros was a much cheaper signing at 220k and adds another option to central midfield, he's a roaming playmaker which allows me to free up my AMC from that role.

We're now back up to 6 foreign player in the squad and as I see it all six should be in the starting line up which isn't ideal but is within the rules of the league.

Key Player Sale Mk2

The vultures are circling again...

727083486_KassiSale.thumb.PNG.ee757310b0653f7c672027459c8a468a.PNG

This is one I really didn't want to let go but he had a release clause which was close to being triggered, I renegotiated for that sell on clause and a friendly. He'd started the season well with 5 goals in 10 games with a couple of assists so disappointed not to get another full season out of him.

But that does give me the opportunity to scour the market for a replacement, may spend some time looking around South America.

Troublemaker Gone

Troublemaker.thumb.PNG.208e5788187d83107f49ead957a0b349.PNG

Finally gone, he moaned about being replaced, he moaned about not enough playing time, he moaned about Kassi sale and told me I didn't do enough to keep him. I dropped him to 2nd team and he moaned even more. I instructed Welbz to sell him for whatever price, so we got nothing for him but I'm happy he's gone.

84 league goals in 207 games isn't a bad return but I expected more from him.

Season Review 2029/30

The dreams for this season were;

  1. 5 in a row?
  2. Reach CL Fourth Qualifying Round

Transfers

1307645685_Transfers2.thumb.PNG.bc28ef77bf66eaaff7929d42c64418ec.PNG

I dedicated a post above for the incoming signings and also highlighted the sale of Kassi. Unfortunately I was unable to find a replacement for him in the January window, it is a priority for this summer.

Europe

1335175929_CLQual.thumb.PNG.f8c2505fa1782561d300e00c8f8b5bf2.PNG

Again we started life in the Champions League qualifiers. We opened our season with a 5-1 win over Albanian side Partizani, however which did suffer a shock defeat in the away leg but we'd done enough to go through. Bosnian side Zeljeznicar were up next and we dealt with them with ease. Basel up next, which is a tough test, I needed to beat them to achieve one of my season dreams of reaching the 4th Qualifying Round. 2-0 loss away, 2-1 win at home, out 3-2 on aggregate. Into the Europa League.

1114169113_ELQual.thumb.PNG.5e4bf837461aec751c85e7b678f1cf0e.PNG

Olympiakos in the 4th Qualifying Round is tough draw but we absolutely blitzed them away from. At home things were different as Olympiakos showed their pedigree to win 3-1 but we went through still.

614010941_GroupResults.thumb.PNG.0ad3edecf06841ed7f7193a0cd359cda.PNG

WOW, I just don't know what happened. I felt the win against Hertha was a surprise, something out of the blue, wouldn't be repeated. We'd already beaten PAOK previously so I knew we'd have a chance. Benfica away, erm yeah. Benfica home was a late winner. We'd qualified for the 1st KO stage at this point. Hertha we rotated slightly and the real Berlin turned up. PAOK away was glorious, Cieslar scoring four.

1378268380_EL1stKO.thumb.PNG.963d15bac4d14ab81eb7e5c14419d902.PNG

After the winter break we faced Besiktas and carried on our surprise performances by beating them in Turkey. They turned is on in the second leg in Azerbaijan and won in a convincing and clinical style.

Domestic Competitions

League.PNG.e7beed843e8b680eaa1599dd9192096d.PNG824009895_CupFinal.thumb.PNG.b97447610ba43164c469f7badfa3d284.PNG

I don't think I need to dedicate too much time to speak about domestic competitions anymore. This was our 5th title in a row and 3rd Cup final win.

Squad

Squad.thumb.PNG.84a6610a58f567d6317512ad8ac41954.PNG

We made significant improves in the squad via the summer transfer window and it proved money well spent. Whilst Voros and Szabo contributed well, Cieslar was immense. 35 goals in 49 games which has attracted the attention of Chelsea. Galchev continued his good form, 15 goals and 10 assists. Goalkeeper Hakak contributed 14 goals and 2 assists which was a goal every 3.5 games.

1383951053_CieslarEoS.thumb.PNG.4741be8463669c650bd6f532d6ddc4c8.PNG

I've managed to strike a deal to sell Belarussian attacking midfielder Zaytsev to Shakhtar Soligorsk for up to 825k. With his sale and Galchev's decision to become a naturalised citizen leaves us with four foreign players.

Finances

Top work in qualifying from that Europa league group. Looks like domestically, you've separated yourself from the pack, and now making headway in Europe is the goal.

Thanks!

Was a complete and utter shock with some of those results. Yeah domestically we're ahead of everyone, now its about improving in Europe but without packing the squad with too many foreigners.

I've always had a soft spot for Azerbaijan after managing the national team in an old (I think it may have been FM 05!) save game. Never got round to managing in the domestic league though.

It's great to see the progress the club has made - surely you're not far off Champions League qualification with a few more shrewd signings!

Yeah, I've attempted saves in previous versions but mainly with Qarabag or Neftci, in which dominating earlier on killed the saves. Definitely returning to this area of the world on FM20, maybe Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, depending if I want a European or Asian save. Its not just about the team you play as but improving the national side with the players you develop and produce through the intakes. I'd loved to manage the national side at some point.

I didn't play yesterday but we've significantly improved the squad again and made a good step forward in Europe which I will update in due course.

Transfers 2030

A 17m budget and a big wage budget with plenty of room.

1899017856_SummerTransfers.thumb.PNG.5829f6aff874dbc6b97536024f5219c5.PNG

Just three players in this summer and all three are foreigners which takes our squad tally up to seven, one more than I would like but clubs are struggling to produce Azeri players of a good enough quality to improve the squad.

First in was Kenton, a belated Kassi replacement who I actually scouted last season but didn't feel he was a like for like replacement. A year on and there weren't much better options available. The Costa Rican international joins for just short of 700k from Alajuelense.

Kenton.thumb.PNG.21f8a3475e54ff7a709807aedba74904.PNG

Following Kenton in the door was Filipovic, I released my second choice player in this position as he had definitely decreased in ability. He joins and will compete with Azeri player Mahammadov for that left back slot. 300k from Maribor could prove to be another bargain.

Filipovic.thumb.PNG.6d75b2ef2faed80907e3b76de7bd1737.PNG

Lastly in came a young winger in Bojanic from Partizan Belgrade for a club record fee of £1.3m. At just 19 he has some good stats which will hopefully only improve.

Youth Intake 2031

Intake.thumb.PNG.2bae22c316ea3615b1c67db62e281cc0.PNG

A better intake than last season but still not a great intake. Still a few too many players with poor personalities (5 x Unambitious, 1 x Fickle and 1 x Low Determination). Again no strikers, although our best prospect has finishing of 10 and he's a defensive midfielder.

Yerkamov.thumb.PNG.77d587010fb05edca0dd1bafc5b61540.PNG

Here's the said best propect Vadym Yermakov he's a Azeri national with Ukranian dual nationality. A good personality and a few good attributes but plenty of work to do.

Season Review 2030/31

The dreams for this season were;

  1. Domestic Double again
  2. Improve Facilities again

Transfers

No other transfers were made during the winter window.

Europe

I didn't set any targets of achieving an improvement in Europe this season...

2043866336_CLQuals.thumb.PNG.2d9fc6c639797f7008c4ae2c84188431.PNG

Without putting any pressure on the side we qualified for the Champions League Group Stages in what would be deemed our easiest qualification run in the competition. Finnish, Albanian, Polish and Icelandic sides drawn and defeated. We drew a tough group as expected, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Kobenhavn.

2064481251_CLGroup.thumb.PNG.9f6c394ca6de01147230f5f11d538569.PNG

An expected start to the group stage, hammered away from home to Chelsea, a better losing result against Inter before taking four points from the Danish side. A shock 4-3 win over Chelsea at home thanks to a Cieslar hattrick. We bowed out of the competition at the hands of Inter with a 4-0 defeat.

679405905_GroupBEnd.thumb.PNG.9cdcc1fe092bc7382e3014edb6c96330.PNG

We dropped into the Europa League.

117989999_ELKORounds.thumb.PNG.5412eb2269267fbaf78c1ac75fc562f1.PNG

A tough ask to play Marsielle but late goals from Hakak and Asadov made the second leg interesting. And interesting it was as we won 2-0 at home to go through 5-4 on aggregate. Bournemouth awaited and despite a 2-1 home win over the south coast side we were destroyed away from home.

Another great run in Europe which pocketed us around £20m in prize money this season.

Domestic Competitions

League was a doddle, Cup win was a little closer.

Squad

 Squad.thumb.PNG.dcbba86e125cd582e76144191d4f36d5.PNG

We scored a lot of goals this season, a 121 in all competitions in fact which has been our best return yet. Spear headed by Cieslar who contributed 29 himself. However it was new signing this season Kenton who probably out shone him from the left wing, scoring 22 and making a further 17 assists. Hakak kept his most amount of clean sheets with 25 for the season whilst also scoring 10 goals.

Finances

Finances.thumb.PNG.87a9c4277430d428984ddb91fea1436a.PNG

Plenty of money in the bank thanks to European competition prize money. We currently have no sponsor so will be interesting to see if our European ventures help with a bigger deal.

Youth Intake 2032

INtake.thumb.PNG.bc1a20661703afd4e5570964b6041b65.PNG

Don't be fooled by the 4.5* potential player this is not a good intake and something I'm going to have to look at addressing. We've been unable to improve the junior coaching or the youth recruitment for the past season and a bit now despite the money being there available to do so. Therefore the quality of the players coming through are quite poor. Also the personalities are also pretty dire, yes there are specks of good ones, Xalilov and Maharramov to name a couple but overall so poor. I will be changing my HoYD to the best possible candidate I can find in terms of personality but also has the decent attributes to help nurture the youngsters coming through.

Hakak Hat-trick

Goal-scoring goalkeeper Pini Hakak has scored his first career hat-trick. All three were free kicks in a game dominated more so by the opposition and one was a late injury time winner which stole the three points from Qabala.

He now has 62 career goals to his name for Sumqayit in 226 games, an average on a goal every 3.6 games.

Season Review 2031/32

The dreams for this season were;

  1. Reach CL Group Stage again
  2. Make facility improvements again

Transfers

Transfers.thumb.PNG.d506d97fbf1d8ff3e4e83fed8a59af79.PNG

Only a few transfers in this season, first was a young centre back from Kesla, we overpaid but that comes with the territory of being the best club in the land. Kesla asked for him back for a season, I obliged as that will be good for his development. Next in was a foreigner but a cheap one at that and one I wasn't expecting to play much, very much a bench filler. The third and final player was another youngster, he was one of three under 18 I struck deals for, all foreigners. He slotted into the U19s for his development and will replace on of my foreign players in due course.

Europe

Europe.thumb.PNG.79a2ecb92dd5e1b792ffb000f511b9f0.PNG

This campaign was all about reaching the Champions League Group Stage once again and from the above image you can see we did that. Qualification was pretty easy albeit a slightly tougher one than last season as we faced Legia and Dinamo Zagreb. In the group stage we were drawn against the reigning champions of Europe, a Ukrainian giant and Belgium's best. Things started incredibly poorly, hammered by Man Utd, much closer against Shakhtar before beating Brugge home and away convincingly. Another United defeat was followed by a good away point in Ukraine. Out of CL into EL. We faced Swiss champions Basel but bowed out in quiet fashion, 1-0 in to Basel in both legs.

Domestic Competitions

754188248_LeagueTable.PNG.ca7f078e6736e0a65e7c24e2ef64d3bd.PNG1889357537_CupWin.thumb.PNG.4842904603f253bacd6febf7c8f6c0f5.PNG

Another league and cup double with relative ease, our only league loss was against Qarabag just after the winter break. We're way out on our own now, winning this title by a landslide. 2nd to 4th is much closer. Absolute scenes to see Neftci relegated to the 2nd tier. We had a pretty easy time of it in the cup aswell as we rotated more, winning the final against Zira, 2-0.

Our reserves or Sumqayit-2 won the First League (second tier) for the first time in this save, I've not put any influence into the squad other than not releasing the youth players at the end of the season, rather opting to sign them into contracts to supplement the 2nd team. The U19's also won their league for the 5th straight season, also making it a domestic double along the way.

Squad

Squad.thumb.PNG.fd2ca4b6da1e6330118e213687e6ebfe.PNG

It wouldn't look like it with the competition wins but we struggled a bit this season with form. Injuries hampered us a little more than last season; Kenton, Cieslar, Voros and Aliyev all had bouts on the sidelines. Cieslar ended up top scorer for the season but only just, he was pushed all the way by our goalscoring goalkeeper Hakak who netted 24 times, an incredible return really.

152887608_CLAwards.thumb.PNG.95fcf014c46e73a25e1a16bd5dac9f3c.PNG

From the above image you can see Hakak was voted 3rd best GK in the Champions League whilst Cieslar was also voted as 3rd best Forward.

Finances

Finances.thumb.PNG.4b44307d144ff133b6584b8653f570c2.PNG

Huge budgets given to me by the board which I would be incapable of spending, we've just announced a £1.2m investment in improving the youth facilities again. There is still no option to improve the youth recruitment or the junior coaching.

Transfers 2033

642203644_Transfers(1).thumb.PNG.5af37d28e0ec91d5cb3e42192d88293b.PNG

Part of my dream for this season was to use more Azeri youngsters in my first team squad and to achieve those ambitions I decided to splash a little cash on a couple of new recruits from rival clubs.

Firstly though we lost Valiyev, he wanted out after Al-Shabab offered less than half of what I managed to get in the end, he's now our record sale I believe. Another player to leave was Kwietniewski, he returned to his home land Poland in a small deal with Piast.

First guy in was Quliyev, I scouted him last season after joining Qabala through their youth intake, I tabled a 500k bid for the 16 year old only for him to not want to move having just signed. So I went back this summer and got my man.

 Quliyev.thumb.PNG.697b458be8cd9ab8b1169adc00652548.PNG

I like this guy, an athletic defender with some good attributes need for that centre back role. His personality is poor but I know in time the squad will rub off on him and that will change for the better. One thing he will need to work on is his strength.

Next in was Mammadov, another youngster from last seasons intake at Neftci this time. Same as Quliyev, I tabled a bid of 350k and got knocked back by the player.

Mammadov.thumb.PNG.27e3939cfb3d0cef25a292f0bea305f9.PNG

My scouts didn't actually rate this guy all too well but I felt with my facilities and coaches I could mould a player out of him yet. Another athletic player who will need to work on his strength. A lot of positives already in seeing those green arrows.

Last in was a pre-arranged deal from last summer, Arapis had to wait until he was 18 for his transfer to be completed from Atromitos in Greece for 450k, a little steep looking back.

Arapis.thumb.PNG.722dff96a6ebdd335f18f958979d34d4.PNG

I don't actually remember too much about the scout report apart from he had promise. His personality is pretty poor but with the lack of quality available to me at RB he's been thrown in from the off as my first choice RB is out injured for a few months. I have no doubt he will do well in Azerbaijan but its Europe where he could struggle a little technically.

I've also struck one deal for January when a Italian AMC will sign from Parma for chunk of money upon turning 18. I will then look to sell my Iranian AMC who has interest in him and play that guy from the off.

Hakak Hattrick 2.0

737770655_HakakHttrick2.thumb.PNG.8df919e2c19a71207da7e60833e3bd60.PNG

Unfortunately it was in vain as we failed to win the game, with Qabala scoring with the last kick of the game to equalise. Its 5 goals and 2 assists in 10 games for Hakak this season and he's up to 73 career goals. At the age of 24 he could have another 10-12 seasons in him if his attributes don't decline too much. I would hope he could achieve 200 goals in his career.

Do you concede a lot of goals from missed free-kicks/penalties?

I'm not actually sure to be honest as I use instant result. When I get home from work I'll have a look for mistakes leading to goals etc and see what I can find.

Had a look at this and Hakak has made two mistakes in 27 games this season of which neither have resulted in a goal. Whether those have been from his direct free kicks/penalties I'm not sure. I can only look back in the 15 games in the analysis screen to see if those mistakes were from set pieces.

Youth Intake 2033

I'd like to point out first that this is my new Head of Youth Developments first intake...

HoYD.thumb.PNG.a04ca89d8d55b100ccdf3bd44562e8fa.PNG

And here is he is, the IRL Aston Villa player Marvelous Nakamba. It was a toss up between him or Fabian Delph. A good personality, pretty decent knowledge and okay working with youngsters. He has so much room to grow also with just a National A license, has anyone ever got a HoYD to take a coaching course?

Anyway onto the intake...

54933184_GoldenGeneration.thumb.PNG.8dbc6b0ae9da1952cb957eaebba7380f.PNG

This piqued my interest first, a "Golden Generation" that's the first time in this save...shows some sort of promise.

Intake.thumb.PNG.87248d88415cc87110932ef8d6a2f94c.PNG

A 5* potential player which is great. A Brazilian national is awesome, I don't have any affiliates at all so its not because of that. Personalities are much better overall than of recent but a couple of bad eggs.

Rovsan Tagiyev

Tagiyev.thumb.PNG.b82f2ec9fa847f9fc0a8be6a7b3b4e03.PNG

Apparent 5* potential player. Meh.

Ademilson

Ademilson.thumb.PNG.3ae07d8110e79bec499bbc66f7b77748.PNG

Much, much better player. He has 1.5* current ability so will look better already. I have quite big hopes for this guy.

Season Review 2032/33

The dreams for this season were;

  1. Invest more playing minutes in Azeri youth
  2. Reach CL Group Stages

Transfers

241768373_JanTransfers.thumb.PNG.ec7e0b28008be58eaee46593b221aff1.PNG

Just one more player in as Teresi joined from Parma for just short of half a million.

Europe

 Europe.thumb.PNG.80c8171c073876f594d707303ee2f2ea.PNG

Only three qualifying rounds this season to contend with. Ireland's Waterford were first, Poland's Lech Poznan then Austria Vienna in the play-off put us into a group stage of Man Utd (again), Besiktas and Anderlecht. Just four points collected this campaign but it was still enough to reach the Europa League 1st KO Round. We were demolished by Valencia in the first leg, we didn't even score either of our goals.

Domestic Competitions

 1875767107_LeagueTable.PNG.e98aa3482253d930f4a6f0a888680105.PNG1468401598_CupWin.thumb.PNG.6fb01360883aa3e07996213a705d84d3.PNG

Not sure whats going on with six clubs apparently being in Europe, some sort of bug there. It took extra time to win the cup but its another domestic double.

Squad

 Squad.thumb.PNG.c335e929d0b3edd0723000e07f6ab7e0.PNG

30 goals this season for Cieslar, who was backed up admirably by Kenton, who contributed 22. Bojanic and Hakak both scored 13. With the addition of Arapis and Teresi we're now up to nine foreign players in the squad, which is far too many for my liking.

To counteract that one of my season dreams was to give more minutes to my Azeri youngsters. Asgarov played 33(5) games and spent 2607 minutes on the pitch. Quliyez our youngest player made 28 starts with 2425 minutes on the pitch. Hafizli another young centre back made 20 starts and four sub appearances. I also gave three starts to 17 year old winger Valiyev, he scored on his debut too.

I think I need to be a little ruthless this coming summer and sell a couple of my foreign players, I'm pretty stacked in central defence so could sell Szabo and possibly Voros in central midfield. With the likes of ValiyevMammadov and Yermakov (YP31a) who could be promoted to the first team. I don't think it will be too long before Ademilson who I tagged as my A player from this season intake is ready to also be promoted to the first team.

Finances

Another very profitable season thanks to the Champions League prize money.

Transfers Summer 2033

Transfers.thumb.PNG.22a2dbc856e9edf205e9125c529d6d91.PNG

This summer was more about the players that could/would leave than anyone coming in. We did make one transfer and that was a pre-arranged one from over a season ago, Panagiotou signed from Anorthosi for 100k, he will ply his trade in the U19 for a season initially.

So onto the outs. Gholamalitabar was earmarked early as a player that would definitely leave the club, basically he was the worst foreign player we had and only played a handful of games last season. He returned to his native Iran for a pittance compared to his value.

This next transfer made the squad unhappy (Volume 1), Lovro Voros was a key member of my midfielder but didn't have a great season last time out. I offered him out which angered him but luckily his head was turned by CSKA and off he went. Kenton piped up about the transfer and a number of players agreed with him, I said I was going down the youth player route, semi-resolved.

Alakbarov is actually Azeri but was third in the attacking midfielder pecking order and was moaning about it. Neftci after their promotion back to the top division offered us a decent wedge for him and off he went.

By this point the Azeri transfer window had close but like seasons prior Middle Eastern clubs could still make offers and I saw that Jozsef Szabo was wanted. In came Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia with an initial poor bid. We've got pretty good depth in central defence so I renegotiated to the fee he left for. Aaand this made the squad unhappy (Volume 2), told them I was happy with the squad depth this time and they backed off. Thanks guys.

So a good window in terms of reducing the amount of foreigners in the squad as we go from nine to six.

Youth Intake 2034

Intake.thumb.PNG.9d13f0ea86fb4f1ed43ef986414fd5e0.PNG

After last seasons intake I was hoping for more of the same but as you can see its a bit underwhelming. Okay so there is a 5* potential player in there but overall this is quite poor. Just four players have positive personalities, maybe its a trait of Azeri nationals to have a more negative personality with so many coming through.

Muradov

Muradov.thumb.PNG.af82c1bb7b9489665334261b48a42f5f.PNG

This is the 5* potential player Elnur Muradov and there's something definitely to work with here. Pretty good physically already couple with good determination and finishing/first touch he could become at least a potential bench player for us but will have to improve well to become better than last seasons play of the intake Ademilson.

Season Review 2033/34

The dreams for this season were;

  1. Reduce the number of foreign players in my squad
  2. Give even more minutes to Azeri youth (more than 7000 minutes combined for players aged 21 and under)

Transfers

We did all our business in the summer window, no other players joined or left the club in the winter.

Europe

Europe.thumb.PNG.e9295d508f3f46915574049458d63c27.PNG

Overall another good European season we reached the Champions League Group Stages initially by beating Vardar comfortably, Valerenga beaten in the second leg and fortunately beat Craiova on away goals. We were then handed an extremely tough group with Barcelona, Tottenham and Anderlecht. Points on the board in the first game before three successive defeats. Another good win over Anderlecht before being subjected to a thrashing by Barcelona in the Camp Nou.

We dropped into the Europa League and faced AA Gent in the 1st KO Round where we produced a humdinger of a display to win 5-2 (which was voted as the game of the compeition) We then faced Partizan in the 2nd KO Round but fell to a defeat in the first leg away from home. We produced a better display in the 2nd leg but went out on away goals.

Domestic Competitions

League.PNG.f84cbc121023e89e2accddfd6813409b.PNG

League and Cup double secured again as we dominated the league from day one.

Squad

Squad.thumb.PNG.6fbb7f7764e63f8440f8c5fc10c3a72a.PNG

36 goals from Cieslar overall this season with 22 in the league which set a new record. A huge 26 assists for Kenton which also set a new record. Hakak finished with 16 goals for the season taking him to 97 career goals.

One of seasonal dreams was to give more minutes to Azeri youth this season. Lets take a quick look...

  • Hafizli - 19 starts & 11 subs - 1784 mins
  • Ismailyov - 16 starts - 1321 mins
  • Valiyev - 11 starts & 2 subs - 709 mins
  • Yermakov (YP31a) - 20 starts & 2 subs - 1323 mins
  • Quilyev - 41 starts & 1 sub - 3233 mins
  • Ademilson (YP33a) - 3 starts - 173 mins
  • Ismailyov (YP33c) - 3 starts - 163 mins

Total minutes played was 8706 which was way more than my 7000 minute target.

Finances

Finances.thumb.PNG.3d03bb0879da061ff9c79c0c511827c7.PNG

More money than we care to dream of, massive budgets that will never get used.

Making Dreams a Reality

  1. Reduce the number of foreign players in my squad  - three foreigners sold to reduce us down to 6 in the squad
  2. Give even more minutes to Azeri youth (more than 7000 minutes combined for players aged 21 and under)  8706 total minutes played by U21 players

Next Seasons Dreams

  1. Maintain youth presence in the first team squad.
  2. Improve facilities further

I think Muradov will be a star. Good pace and finishing at 16, and that can only improve. He could end up becoming a prolific poacher. I expect good things from him....No pressure.

To be honest, he's surprised me already. Made improvements already physically and with his finishing.

I'm going to promote Ademilson to the first team full time for next season so lets see if Muradov can hit his heights of 26 goals in 27 (7) games for the U19 last season.

I’ve started an Azeri career 2 weeks ago after reading your thread. Thanks for that.

Which tactic do you use?

Brilliant, are you documenting it on here? Pleased that I could inspire someone else.

Early stages I used a 4-2-2-2 with attacking wingers before moving to 4-2-3-1 which is my go to formation on FM. I'll post it later when I get home from work.

Hakak's Hundred

Finally, Pini Hakak has scored his one hundredth goal for the club, well he's now on 102 as I missed the magic number.

Set on Penalties and Free-kicks he's done incredibly well, his penalty taking stat is only 1 whilst his free kicks are 11/20.

263556145_HakakHistory.thumb.PNG.303365778d1929ed6d9d7aabce0c6565.PNG

Back in the 2031/32 season he incredibly scored more goals (17) than goals he conceded (16). He scored double figures for goals in his past six seasons.

Hakak.thumb.PNG.7b64fedffa235704458ff591733a3a88.PNG

At 26, I would hope he can hit at least 170-180 goals in his career if he has another 7/8 seasons in him.

Not my style at all, I mean we have the money, nearly £100m in the bank at the minute but I like finding those rough diamonds and trying to polish them into the gems like we have in our team at the minute.

This season has been such a slog for a few reasons, lack of time playing the game and then when playing the game such inconsistent form of the team. This has meant I can't really be bothered to do a full update.

We won the league again, our 10th in a row. We also made it eight cup wins in a row, beating Sabail in the final. We were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage but finished 3rd in a group of Barcelona, Tottenham and Malmo. We got Milan in the first knock out round of the Europa League, they beat us 4-2 on aggregate, after we had beat them 2-1 at home.

Hakak finished with 12 goals this season, now up to 109 in his career. Attacking midfield trio of Bojanic, Teresi and Kenton all hit double figures (just) and Cieslar hit 21 for the season, his poorest season yet.

In terms of youth we achieved 7,460 minutes of game time from our Azeri U21 players in the first team this season. Which was less than last season but still hits that threshold of 7000 minutes I wanted last season too.

We're super rich, finances have just hit the £100m mark for the first time. We're spending less than 100k per week on wages when our budget is nearly £750k per week.

Hakak Hat-trick 3.0

1083413956_HakakHattrick3.thumb.PNG.6abfe769c60777d3fe2ce3c36381f641.PNG

A third career hat-trick for GK Pini Hakak. Last season he only scored 12 goals last season in 41 games. So far this season he's scored 13 goals in 23 games, a significant improvement.

He has now scored 122 career goals in 388 games, a goal every 3.2 games.

Intake 2036

INtake.thumb.PNG.cd64e7936909446d5d769b734a3aaca6.PNG

Beyond those top three this is a pretty poor intake, no 5* potential player(s) but I think that will change once they've been assessed. One thing is the top three potential players all have 1.5* current ability which means the Junior Coaching(?) is working in that aspect.

The big negative has to be personalities still with just one player with a positive one. This is despite my HoYD Marvelous Nakamba having a Fairly Determined personality.

Sadiq Verdiyev (YP36a)

Verdiyev.thumb.PNG.5b573f51c77911fb19fffae4a2bb34d5.PNG

A few glaring weaknesses with concentration and strength being single digits. However he is only 15 so has plenty of time to improve. The major positives have to be tackling/heading combination, Azeri youngsters don't tend to have both of those as high as that. He's tall and pretty weighty for a 15 year old and that combination along with his jumping reach means he could be lethal in corner situations. I also believe his personality will improve, coupled with his OK determination stat.

Season Review 2035/36

This is going to be another brief review, I want to smash through as many season as I can now in the run up to FM20.

We signed four players this season, three of which were youngsters and a fourth from South African side Orlando Pirates as Prince Dladla came in as a back up for RW/ST.

We won the league again but this season was different we were pushed all the by Qabala, only winning the title on the last day of the season. It was Qabala who knocked us out at the quarter final stage of the Azeri Cup. We also lost the Community Shield to Sabail, although we played a youth side. In Europe we finished 3rd in the Group Stage of the CL before reaching the Quarter Finals eventually being knocked out by Valencia.

Squad wise we really struggled for consistency with a number of players picking up injuries at the 'wrong time'. After a good first half of the season GK Pini Hakak finished 18 goals, 127 career goals now for him. He actually finished top goal scoring as Dladla (17), Kenton (15), Bojanic (12), Cieslar (11) and Asgarov (YP28b) (10) failed to score more. This season Filipovic, Kenton and Bojanic all gained dual nationality with Azerbaijan so my foreign player count now stands at five with Cypriot Panagiotou set to leave at the end of the season.

We used 9111 minutes worth of time on the pitch for Azeri U21 players this season.

Finances are huge still and will only continue to increase with very little outlay on players. We do need to push on with improving the facilities however.

Transfers

There's a few days left in the transfer window but I think I've done my business. First in was this guy...

657475714_JoaoJose.thumb.PNG.32cbdaba41ee264bd62f4b3ac654cae7.PNG

Joao Jose  was signed on loan from Brazilian club side SPO (not actually sure who that club is mind). That's our first significant loan signing and we're actually paying a monthly fee for him, I wanted to buy him but they wanted the full £9.5m which is his release clause, if, IF he has a very good season then I may just trigger it. Oh and he's a wonderkid, which I didn't see at first.

Next in was...

849267328_NestorBazanVera.thumb.PNG.b946dc6e13b3477c7d9a8bb81a26c009.PNG

Nestor Bazan Vera was signed from Boca Juniors in Argentina for £2m, our highest fee we've ever paid for a player. I wanted to revitalise the midfield which was pretty poor last season, lets hope he can make the difference.

We're now up to 7 foreign players in the first team after I also promoted Romanian youngster Ion Banciu from the U19s to be able back up to Federico Kenton on the LW. Banciu was signed for 80k last season from Arad and contributed 25 assists in 16 games for the U19s.

Youth Intake 2037

INtake.thumb.PNG.13fc61859d353042687d5503e711098e.PNG

Initial impressions are meh...no 5* potential player for the second intake in a row off of the initial reports but again I expect that to change. Personalities overall are poor but I think that's more to do with the nation rather than influence from my HoYD. We have another Brazilian in the intake, still not sure why they're coming through. We have links with Fuli in China and Wanderers in Uruguay which are yet to produce an foreign player in our intake.

Two players stand out Yusifov who i've tagged as the A player and Mammadzada who will also probably be tagged, he has some promise despite a lower potential ability rating.

Emin Yusifov (YP37a)

Yusifov.thumb.PNG.29060c678e222c16bbaeb70a148386ac.PNG

He's already 2.5* current ability going of the reports, we could have a pretty good player on our hands here. A set piece specialist who won't be taking free kicks anyway. He doesn't really have any glaring weaknesses apart from his determination, all his single figure attributes are high single figures so it won't take much for him to look a well round player in a season or two. Another thing is he's rapid, 18 acceleration and 15 pace at 16 years old.

Kanan Mammadzada

Mammadzada.thumb.PNG.6455762b16ebe39c2b7db74a2c255c03.PNG

Kanan isn't a bad prospect here but needs to work on his passing, work rate, vision and strength immediately to become a potential first team player.

Season Review 2036/37

Smashed through another season today, here's the highlights.

We were somewhere near back to our best as we won the League by 20 points from Qabala. We also won the Azeri Cup beating Sabail in the final.

In Europe we reached the group stages of the CL again and finished 3rd again in a group consisting of Arsenal, Dortmund and Galatasaray. We then went on a fantastic run to the EL final, beating Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Standard Liege and Bournemouth on the way to losing against Valencia.

Transfer wise two further players joined in January, Koffi from ASEC who went straight into the U19s and Hernandez from Athletico Nacional who went into the first team. We also sold three players, Cieslar was first to go, despite his record I wanted Ademilson to lead the line and he didn't like it, he left for PAOK. Arapis was next to go, he left for Ah-Ahli in KSA. Lastly was another player moaning about playing time, Asadov left for Zira for 500k.

Squad wise Hakak failed to reach double figures for goals, scoring just 8. Ademilson scored 34, Kenton with 22 and Joao Jose scored 16 (he broke his ankle with 4 games remaining and went back to his parent club). Bojanic made 26 assists this season too, he was back to his best.

We improved the youth facilities and asked for the training facilities but I think it didn't work as they're still adequate. We also gained O'Higgins as a feeder club. The U19s won the Champions League title for the first time beating Juventus in the final.
