Hello guys, I have some mysterious affection with the Target Man role and now I want to create a tactic with a more specialised version of Target Man, the Wide Target Man.

I am uploading the tactic because the tactic is, for some reason or the other, not working well enough.

I lost a friendly match against Everton 1-2.

The first match of Premier Division against West Ham ended in a 1-4 lost.

Second match was against Liecester city which ended disastrously in a 0-5 lost.

I am ready to change the tactic completely but the only thing I want is a Wide Target Man.

Open to critics and suggestions.

You seem to expect the WTM and TQ to do all the attacking job on their own. Even if they both were world-class players, such a "strategy" wouldn't be likely to succeed.

Does this mean that you are also willing to abandon this asymmetric formation and adopt a normal one?

OK well I think this needs a lot more time than I've got to sort it out lol, but just off the top of my head here's what I think is wrong with it...

There's nobody around your WTM for him to bring into play once you've hoofed the ball up to him. The Treq *might* be, but also roams from position so could be literally anywhere else on the pitch. Even if he's close, that's one player.

The Treq is a playmaker role and so attracts the ball, taking away the point of the WTM.

Support is going to be a long time coming as the IWB and two DMs have a defend duty on a cautious mentality. They won't be rushing up the pitch to provide a passing option in a hurry.

The Libero needs space to operate, so having two DMs getting in his way is just going to back him ineffective. Plus is the player good enough for that role? I think Liberos might also have a playmaker role where they attract the ball, but don't quote me on that.

You're wanting to use a WTM but have selected pass into space. That doesn't make sense, do you want to aim for him or not?

Who are you hitting early crosses to?

With the team mentality and defensive line as they are, you're basically setting up with 7 players in your own box or near enough just waiting for the onslaught from the opposition. You're inviting pressure.

I'm sure there's plenty more that I haven't noticed, but that's what I think is wrong with it from a quick glance.

Considering the above facts, I will make the necessary changes and inform them here and let's see what could be made of it..

Okay guys so I made the following changes:

Changed Trequertista into Attacking Midfielder Attack.

Placed the two defensive midfielders into midfield as ball winning midfield defend and deep lying playmaker support.

Switched inverted wing back and complete wing back to attack duties.

Made the Central defender left and right to Central Defender with Cover duty.

Switched the libero into a central defend with a stopper duty.

Other than these I switched the strategy from a Regroup one to counter press with standard defensive line and standard line of engagement with more urgent pressing intensity.

I Made a Juve 2016/2017 inspired tactic based on mandzukic's role. He Played as a wideTargetman on the left and combined really well with Alex sandro. The idea behind it is to create an overload on his side of the pitch by placing a playmaker (in juves case, Pjanic) over there. that way he can play knock-on passes towards towards the fullback who can deliver crosses into the box. This is done with a WTM on support.

this is all just vague explanation because your use of it might be different based on the players available at your club. But your first stem is to make sure someone attacks the pace ahead of him as well as another one who arrives late.

There is too much going on to know where to start... I did a wide target man thread last season, so just read the op and youl get my perspective of how to play to the strengths.

Tq is a ball magnet so straight off there is detracting from your wtm. You are asking him to hit early crosses... But u don't have a striker and you have a cautious mentality, deep line... So who will be in the box?

If a wide target man is your stake in the ground... Start by building the rest of the roles and instructions around that. Then tweak as you go... But at least right from the off you should have him sorted.

Wouldn't it be much simpler if you posted a screenshot of this new tactic like you did with the previous one in the opening post?

Btw, based on your description, this new system looks to me even more problematic than the first one, especially defense-wise.
