Roaring Back - The Return of Evian

The Tale of Evian TG FC is a brief and volatile epic. A club who within the 12 years since it was officially created achieved three promotions, a ninth-place finish in their debut Ligue 1 campaign in 2011/12, and a run in the Coupe de France, which took the club all the way to the final itself. That was within the first 4 years it was created, what followed after however was less ideal.

In the summer of 2009 the owners of the Evian water empire, Danone, took an interest. With not inconsiderable financial backing a new dawn arrived, the creation of Evian TG, A name to reflect their new sponsors.

Following the resignation of Evian President Trotignon in 2013, Franck Riboud and the Danone group attempted to exert further control over the club, however the other owners with a combined 52% stake rebuffed his advances and as quickly as Evian had risen, it fell once Danone backed out of the club and with it left the 30 million dollars it was rumoured to be bankrolling them with. Senior Budgets were destroyed and by the end of the 14/15 season Evian was in debt to a tune of €8 million.  Administrative penalties saw a further relegation back the amateur ranks of the regionalised fourth divisions. All within 12 months after being in the Top Flight.

As a club, Evian currently sit in the 7th Tier of French Football. I'm going to bring them back to Ligue 1.

League only loaded on the 13.1 Patch so none of the January Transfers etc; went through, but it's doubtful we'll have anything that looks like the real game by the time we make L1/2 Anyways so it shouldn't be that big a deal. Players had to be added so it's very regen focused anyways.

I first played with this club in FM13, and had a blast. Good Facilities, with a young, hungry squad. Alot of those memories also stem from a few hidden gems I found that in subsequent FMs never hit the same heights again, so they're outlying wonderkids I've long held fondness for. Hopefully we can navigate the lower leagues quickly, being Amatuer driven there isn't much of a gap between teams. National 3 and 2 are where I see things getting more troublesome.

16 Games somehow spread across 10 months. What does that mean? A ton of friendlies in between competitive fixtures is what.

As for the squad itself. It weirdly has 2 National Level players at the bare minimum and because of that the rest of the squad, Good/Decent Regionale 2 just looks awful.

As a Goalkeeper myself having a good one is immense and no-one seems interested in this guy even though he could easily be picking up a 500-700 euro Paycheck slightly higher up. I won't complain too much about his anonymity though.

This guy will dominate the midfield single-handedly based on the quality around him and as a result, the projected quality of the league.

5 Games Played, 9 points. We either win big or struggle to score. Albeit, we had no strikers or wingers when the division loaded so perhaps it's just a matter of time/cohesion.

December-January

Doubled up because of the minor Winter Break, football returning from Feb.

Friendlies to maintain match fitness and then two wins leave us in 2nd, three points behind with a game in hand. Just a matter of slowly reeling them in with 7 games left.

Honestly not sure why we're not in first, Better GD, More Goals scored etc; We even have a better Head to Head. So no idea how to change it up other than to win on points.

Youth Intake

Decent Intake. Remache is the clear standout but not amazing by any means.

I'm playing with FC Quimper in regionale 2 and +- 80 procent of my first squad players are being offered contracts from bigger clubs. I like the realism but even in september, october etc this is the case.

I offer my player a 'new' contract with amateur terms(so no money, no bonus) and they always accept our offer (and stay) . But i'm doing this for +- five players, each week ..

This can't be the correct way ?
