And smack bang in the middle we finished.

So we've already lost Mislav but also Frane and Antun refuse to renew their contracts so we're losing our best 3 players by ability this season.

How high do you have to go to get them interested?

At least 2nd.

No, I meant in terms of financial incentives.

I have been trying to think how I would try to deal with your situation and I'm stumped. The longest possible contract with +years extensions at an early age is probably my only solution, but of course you risk the financial well-being of the club by doing so. What it does allow you to do however is hang on to the players long enough that you might get more money from them that will allow the cycle to be broken. A knock-on effect of this is that rather than just seeing lots of 5.0 PA players at every intake and them all looking pretty similar, the level of player you will be judging them against, (your best players), will be better, so the early PA rating of your player will give you more information than it currently does. It's the only suggestion I've got and not even sure if it's doable.

This is the best contract I can offer to my goalkeeper.

Our youth players either don't want to enter contract negotiations because our squad isn't at a level they want to play, or they will only accept non-contract terms (once players reach 17 they have to be on a minimum of £100 p/w if they go part time) either way the finances will never improve.

I definitely wouldn't want a sugar daddy, not after what happened with St. Buryan.

A community consortium takeover - we'll all chip in a few quid just to get Makoto a promotion he richly deserves!

I had this problem with Gernika doing a Basque youth challenge, top half to mid-table finish year after year and gradually getting weaker as well as financially ruined as the teams around us got better. I didn't have the patience for it. That's why I admire you and the others that do these challenges, it takes the patience of a saint.

This is definitely the hardest youth only challenge I've done, harder even than San Marino, hopefully we'll find the breakthrough at some point.

Have you tried personally managing every game? at least for a few to see if it makes a difference.

That's what I like about instant result, if we lose then I'm just like "Oh well, we lost, move on" whereas playing the games I see the losses as they happen and that depresses me even more, I'll try watching the February matches though.

I was going to post something jokey about us assuming that @Makoto Nakamurais better than his Ass Man, and it gave me the idea that maybe a better Ass Man is the way forward!

Any options available?

Well this is my current assistant manager, I think he's pretty good.

Boris is old enough to play first team football and has 5* CA so I'm really hoping he doesn't get poached as last season's Best XI striker Zvonimir is 2nd best...and he's an AMC with a finishing of 5.

We have no chance of keeping him then.

I'm sure you have already tried this but..... he has just turned 17 years old today so you offer him a contract, but of course he has already developed a significant amount between when he came through the Youth Intake and now. Because he's developed so well, he has already effectively out-grown the club. What I would do is offer a "pre-contract", (add-ons seem to work at some ages in some leagues and not in others so be careful), shortly after he signs an initial Youth Contract after coming through the intake.

Oh hang on...... you're only Semi-Pro. Can you even offer pre-contracts? That's the whole problem isn't it?  Damn! This is sooooo frustrating.

It's definitely a tough situation, especially when they only want non contracts and for them to go part time they decide that they want even more money. :(

Just a suggestion, but how do you feel about "throwing" games like the Cup match against Viktoria? I seem to remember them giving you a beating in the Cup before and you don't seem competitive with them. Maybe the answer is to play the strongest team against Newbrandenburg, rotate the whole squad for the Viktoria game and then you play the Wismar game, (who are rivals at the top end of the table), with a completely fresh 1st choice squad who haven't just had a morale hit after getting smashed in the Cup.

That's a good point, I probably should rest the better players when playing against a team like Viktoria.
