Hello,

I've recently bought FM19 and have been experiencing random crashes when playing a match.

Sometimes it happens when adjusting my tactics, but most of the time it's just when watching highlights.

I did play the demo and never had the issue, so I tried playing my save from the demo and the crashes occurred.

I've tried the following

  • removed additional graphics (logos)
  • cleared cache and preferences
  • uninstalled and reinstalled the game
  • switching to the beta

but none of these works.

Please help as I've had dozens of crashes and the game is unplayable for me at the moment.

I've attached my DxDiag file and two crash dumps (one on the retail version and on the public beta) and here is the link to my save file (it's called Inter.fm)

Thanks !

Hi, it seems like this has to do with your graphics cards ,can you uninstall and reinstall both of your graphics cards and see if it helps, please?

Let us know how you get on, please. Thank you.

I would suggest you to change the following if you haven't done so already -

1.) changing Optimal Power setting from the Nvidia Control Panel:

- Right Click on your desktop and select 'Nvidia Control Panel'

- Click 'Manage 3D settings'

- Select 'Program Settings' and via the dropdown box for 'Select a program to customise' select 'Football Manager 2019'

- Select 'Power Management Mode'

- If the default setting is 'Optimal Power', now select 'Prefer Maximum Performance'

- Select 'Apply'

2.) Lowering the in-game graphics quality

What in-game quality are you running the game? As a test can you lower the in-game graphics quality to see if it helps, please

As we have released a new update 19.3.5 on the retail version, can I ask you to revert back to retail version to give it another go, please?

I switched back to the retail version.

Did 1. but it changed nothing.

I play using the recommended settings (which are High), so tried toning down to Medium.

It's now actually worse as I had 3 crashes during the first highlight of the game or even during the pre-match pitch interview. Before that, the crashes happened later in the match or sometimes I could even play one or two games without any crash.

Thanks !

Have you tried playing the game in Windowed mode rather than full screen?

Does the match run smoothly and then will just crashes randomly or do you see any freeze or lag in matches in general?

I'll try plaing in Windowed mode.

The match runs smoothly, however there is a small lag right before the crash.

The crashes appear to be random, most of the time during a highlight

Try running in DX9 as shown below

- Open Steam and access your Games Library
- Right-click on Football Manager 2019 -> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options
- Type this in the box: -renderer_direct3D9
- Click on OK, close the window and launch FM19 through Steam

Running DX9 seems to work !

I've played around ten matches without having a single crash, but the performances have dropped drastically : there are occasionally important framerate drops, and the graphics have a lower quality overall.

Is there any way to switch back do DX12 without having the game crashing ?

Thanks

What in-game graphics quality are you running the game? On what screen were you seeing the drop in FPS?

I run medium graphics, but it was fine when running with DX12.

The FPS drops happen during matches and can be seen by the naked eye

Do you use GeForce Experience? Can you check if FM19 is optimised, please?
