The title race is clearly on the mind as the run in is shown. The obvious fixture is us away at Kashima, which could make or break our season. Elsewhere assuming the realistically Urawa are the other challengers, you would say Yokohama F Marinos and Gamba Osaka remain the only fixture you think they would potentially drop points. We have been so hit and miss this season that wouldn't want to say what we might do in our fixtures.

Okay it's only been half the month, but the title race is getting too hot not to show you it game by game. We have had a fine month, we are getting some of that defensive steel that we had when I first joined the club.

The table is delicately posied, Urawa won against Yokohama F Marinos, but Kashima beat Avispa but then lost to Sagan Tosu, which was unexpected. We play Kashima next away and if we win, it blows this title race wide open.

WOW! Kashima have imploded just like we did in the middle of the season and we go there and beat them 2-0 and you can't say we didn't deserve to win the match.

Urawa did win their game, as we expected against Yamaga. As mentioned Gamba is the game that I think could test them.

There is one point between us, Kashima and Urawa.

Every game is huge now and we get the job done emphatically at home to Vissel Kobe winning 4-0.

Elsewhere results have gone exactly how we needed them to as both Urawa and Kashima fail to find a way through and both draw 0-0.

Two games away from the title. Please don't screw this up!

Nabisco Cup semi final rolls around, and it ends in 0-0 draw between us and Kawasaki Frontale. We shot ourselves in the foot by getting a man sent off, but held out for the draw. In many ways we had the better of the game, we could have won that game. We play the next leg in a few days at home.

Dreams of the quadruple remain alive as we bag our first piece of silverware of the season, as we completely outplayed Urawa Red Diamonds winning 3-0. At least our trophy winning modifier is now safe with this win but the first trophy of potentially four is in the bag.

The league is back, with our game in hand against Avispa and we get the win we needed, in the end nervy but a 2-1 win is enough to return us to the summit of the table. We are now one win away from being J-League Champions.

As mentioned one win away from being champions. We are one point clear of Urawa, two points clear of Kashima. Any of us could end up champions on the final day of the season.

YES!!!!! We had to wait to the second half, with the nerves jangling, finally we found a way through Bellmare, in the end taking them apart 3-0. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

Both Urawa and Kashima won their games but it means nothing as we take the title.

We win the league by one point from Urawa, and the double of the potential quadruple is in the bag. That is our first title for 34 years, since last winning the J-League in 2011.

The Champions League Final first leg rolls around, and we have given ourselves every chance as we win the game 4-2 against defending champions Al-Ahli. It will require some defensive steel in the return leg in what I am sure will be an inferno of an atmosphere.

They scored first and we were up against it but the rapid response from Okayama settled the nerves and despite falling behind again we came back again, and when Ito put away the penalty we knew we would be lifting the Champions League trophy. What an amazing achievement, what an amazing season.

Kashima are powerless to stop this train in the Tennohai semi final as we batter them 4-0 with Ito cementing his legendary status by getting all four goals. We book ourselves into the Final and we are one win away from an immortal achievement of completing the Quadruple.

We complete the quadruple by beating Yokohama F Marinos and again Ito is the legend as he scores a final hat-trick to give us the trophy. It has been an amazing season, considering where we were at one point, we looked dead and buried and here we are holding all the trophies we could have dreamt about. An incredible season and an incredible achievement from the players.

Right it's time to calculate the air miles for the season

We won 47 games this season.

The equation is as follows:-

3 x 5.73 x 2 x 1 = 34.35 air miles per win = 1,614.55 air miles won this season, therefore added to the 2,404.24 air miles we already had means we now have 4,018.79 air miles in the kitty.

The map now looks like this:-

39f55f81d6c7bf981bf419b8b0e3a1cc.png

As can be seen the circle has gone wavy again as we come out the other side of the arctic. We have pretty much reached the extremities of what can be considered European Russia. We could add Kazakhstan, but there would be no real point at this stage.

83096868cd8cb5b70dc82ca1642487f5.png

A closer look shows us we are just short of Ufa and now not very far away from Moscow or St Petersburg as we move closer and closer to Europe. If we have another season like we did this season, we could find we will be there sooner than we think.
