So having started this twice already, Im giving it a third go.  Mad you say? well there is that, but also my first attempt was with a flawed Sammarinese domestic add on. The teams were making no prize money from the domestic league, or any TV money, and having tried to ignore it, I just couldn't. Also I only had the Italian and Sammarinese leagues loaded, this time I have the top 5 European Leagues loaded.

The aim is to turn San Marino into the best National side in the world and to win honours at every age group. I will be attempting to do this with 2 managers. Jack Lewis who will be in charge of San Marino Calcio and San Marino (national side) and Joe Lewis who will be in charge of SS Virtus and San Marino u21's/u19's. Both clubs will be operating under a Sammarinese only transfer policy, although academy products will also be eligible regardless of nationality.

The Clubs

San Marino Calcio

20190505175842_1.thumb.jpg.558a1e837e4e2d74ad453c7dfeeb977c.jpg

Founded in 1959, the club have never played football above Serie C level, and have filtered between Serie C and D for the last decade or so.

The Squad

20190505185010_1.thumb.jpg.75b519edd5eb76319e4e5d3b3b09dcdb.jpg

Not a bad starting team, but with my Sammarinese only policy, its gonna be tough to sign any improvements for now. Play offs are the boards expectations, and this might be abit ambitious.

Finances and Facilities

20190505182906_1.thumb.jpg.0598f9cd303c6362072c31e470e04a84.jpg     20190505182908_1.thumb.jpg.8d353865f1f5cf5be53629b9adb40475.jpg

Not the best facilities, and financially we are not very secure at all.

Season Predictions

20190505185241_1.thumb.jpg.fc79ed2ecfd40fe1553f1943e296e54f.jpg

The media are predicting a 7th placed finish, I would be happy with that in all honesty.

SS Virtus

20190505175426_1.thumb.jpg.d8c1cec484cd3b13daf9a1329b998eec.jpg

Founded in 1964, SS Virtus are rated as the worst Sammarinese side based on reputation, with a single Suppa Coppa Sammarinese win in 1998 the clubs only silverware ever won. Our aim is to turn them into the dominant side domestically, and maybe even have a run to a European Group stage.

The Squad

20190505185716_1.thumb.jpg.1a764b1dcdec7a860f3b99bd293e4dbe.jpg

It looks good based on potential, but at this standard, those stars mean very little imo. We have a Sammarinese only transfer policy here also, so will be looking to sign some players as the season progresses.

Facilities and Finances

20190505185838_1.thumb.jpg.08c45a4f2e408177416038af0daa331f.jpg     20190505185840_1.thumb.jpg.d7a1da8d9112ef8ddf032eee8775d9f5.jpg

Poor all round facilities as expected, will be looking to upgrade the clubs infrastructure asap. Finance wise we look ok for now, as an amateur club we pay no wages out, so shouldn't have too many expenses. I iwll be trying to get San Marino Calcio as my senior affiliate as soon as possible, for financial and loanee purposes.

Season Predictions

20190505190128_1.thumb.jpg.cee6721f5c7abd68689878b3757d257c.jpg

We are predicted to finish 2nd from bottom, and with the board expectations set to "avoid finishing bottom of the league", should have a season with minimal pressure to achieve.

Other Things

20190505190327_1.thumb.jpg.6fd5ff46aa567a7fac7d246201d740ba.jpg

At the start of the save, the domestic league is currently ranked as the 198th best league in Europe. Lets see how high we can get it.

Pre Season 2018

San Marino Calcio

20190505205026_1.thumb.jpg.5dc11d703cf58a3027c2491470a240d7.jpg

Although results in pre season mean very little, the wins over Benfica and Troyes were unexpected, and give me hope for a positive season ahead.

SS Virtus

20190505205416_1.thumb.jpg.0074579b5a31ba56e171dc12a5747115.jpg

We needed to sign some players before the season started, and everyone from Marco Rosti down was signed by me. Some are awful, where as a couple look decent players for this level.

     20190505205045_1.thumb.jpg.09e00d44ff8ebc2ee8d276229ff85156.jpg

With the weird fixture schedule in San Marino, we will be playing an awful lot of friendlies. The season doesn't start until September, so we have already played a lot of games, and so far so good. Admittedly all these games are against sides rated of similar rep to us, but the amount of goals scored has impressed me so far, even if they are only friendlies.

2018/19 Season Review

San Marino Calcio

Competitions

20190514105637_1.thumb.jpg.0b5f857ad484c1e0e5aed0e82878794c.jpg

A very decent season saw us finish 4th, 3 places above media predictions. I didnt know what to expect at the start, my other 2 attempts at this challenge saw me sign numerous players on loan, this time with a Sammarinese only policy (minus youth intakes), it was a different prospect. We also got to the play off final, only to lose 1-0.

Playing Squad

20190514105617_1.thumb.jpg.d5a387ec7c0b68f2f2f553758cf5e150.jpg     20190514105554_1.thumb.jpg.d4cd4ecba3aa9916f8f47887bc191f2b.jpg

We have some good little players for this standard, and with only 5 players in the squad aged 26 or older, there is plenty of room for improvement. Matteo Gasperi won POTS scoring 12 goals from a central midfield position.

Transfers

20190514105659_1.thumb.jpg.27c2fd2328008773578a668ba062e4c5.jpg

All the transfers were done before our arrival, so we signed nobody this season, as there is very little Sammarinese quality outside our squad.

Youth Production

20190514092841_1.thumb.jpg.76df2d844603a4c8af93d9814506ee03.jpg

20190514093248_1.thumb.jpg.4b7db8bf4107a604852ee08772131cef.jpg     20190514093252_1.thumb.jpg.be7c8dced9e66e3c298b9de74f0557cc.jpg     20190514093259_1.thumb.jpg.ceeab99531dbfcf7a69b0b9fd5396154.jpg

As we know 'Golden Generations' are more common when in the lower leagues, even so im very impressed with our first intake. Its a shame 5/6 of the top rated are Italian but even still, this should give us a good starting base. The best 3 are above.

Facilities and Finances

20190514110044_1.thumb.jpg.533d2682263bccaab21925e28d439f0a.jpg     20190514110047_1.thumb.jpg.3de563e3b39f2871e365a716c5921fbc.jpg

Poor facilities but poor finances mean very little chance of any upgrades. We had a promising youth intake, so hopefully can develop someone to move on if need be.

Next Season

We could really do with promotion, and with a little but of improvement, its possible. Only the top team wins promotion though, so its going to be tough.

SS Virtus

Competitions

20190514110502_1.thumb.jpg.822092647e38c23480e9e291e6a67050.jpg    20190514110507_1.thumb.jpg.6947be2dfec4de11c4a3285bdbf802be.jpg    20190514110511_1.thumb.jpg.674ae0196c132f84d22dc69951ec0484.jpg

With the expectations of 'avoid finishing bottom of the league' the expected struggle never really happened. A excellent first phase saw us finish 2nd in Group 1, in the second phase, a group of the best 8 teams from the first phase, we ended up 5th, which gave us qualification for the Champions play off. This is where our season ended though, losing in the quarter finals to Folgore/Falciano. Still a season of over achievement compared to the expectations. We finished the season as the top scorers, but conceded way too many to really go any further.  We also lost in the first round of the cup.

Playing Squad

20190514110909_1.thumb.jpg.93e8f3b3922eb75701e5a631d471da1a.jpg     20190514110349_1.thumb.jpg.7c705ba12a1ea94b5906e40e43d665e5.jpg

Its actually pretty good for this level, but being an amateur team, you can only improve players so much in my previous experience. LW Raul Ura won POTS with 7 goals and 8 assists in 24 games.

Transfers

20190514110932_1.thumb.jpg.893b58bcd5d528c68e5d6b7c5b5dff57.jpg

Everyone from Marc Rosti down we signed, and we will continue to try and poach better players until we can challenge La Fiorita's dominance.

Youth Production

Completely forgot to take a screenshot, but we had a decent enough income with 2 very decent players. The goalkeeper will be going straight in next season as our first choice, whilst i will be training Muccioli 19b into a full on right winger to suit our tactics. We did also win the u19s cup, whilst finishing 2nd in the league. I think this is the clubs first bit of silverware.

Facilities and Finances

20190514111051_1.thumb.jpg.841359350cb608784442cf1b7dfc5b96.jpg    20190514111105_1.thumb.jpg.e48a660c85e28d410c7349bdb70a7cdf.jpg    20190514111125_1.thumb.jpg.867cf273e816914b816fd943fc4af8be.jpg    20190514111127_1.thumb.jpg.542b9fcf48bbbc38cc7f772fe3f85531.jpg

A good year really on this front, we made a profit as we currently pay no wages. And have just got upgrades to junior coaching and the clubs youth recruitment.

Next Season

I would be happy with a similar season to this one. But would obviously like to improve enough to challenge for something at senior level.

Season Review 2019/20

San Marino Calcio

Competitions

20190515113645_1.thumb.jpg.9c8a65a4d1bbe7ffa70b7c9dec43e182.jpg     20190515113344_1.thumb.jpg.9af4e8a6bb204b486ce3a7c0a08c58b2.jpg    20190515113356_1.thumb.jpg.1d187f570c4653d4a62611f1814a9076.jpg

Predicted to finish 5th by the media, I thought after last seasons strong showing we could have another go at promotion. We started pretty slowly, and come January Modena were sitting 10 points clear in 1st place. I didn't change anything, we signed Matteo Vitaioli, a Sammarinese journeyman and it all changed, a ridiculous run of 18 league wins saw us pip the title on the final day. Modena somehow managed to lose their final 2 fixtures, a point would have seen us miss out.  The third screenshot is just to show the last game save was 10 games ago, just as this run is simply pretty unbelievable.

In the Serie D Cup we lost in the 1st round.

In the Serie D Poole Scudetto we flopped and lost in the group stage.

Playing Squad

20190515122441_1.thumb.jpg.113c1ee1e53928a7d4d636ad2bb20764.jpg     20190515122639_1.thumb.jpg.ddbf0d022c0eeb2c0a7766c3c41cc607.jpg     20190515122611_1.thumb.jpg.b13a2938ce8ae045ff5878c1498ee5d0.jpg

These lads have done amazingly well to get promoted. Gasperi was again sensational in the AMC role, scoring 19 goals. This season saw us have our first real breakout academy product. Gualtieri 19r was lowest down in the potential ability ratings but has shot up and looks like he could be a decent little player for us. 13 starts and 7 goals this season from the left wing, and hes just scored a debut goal for the national side.

Transfers

20190515113922_1.thumb.jpg.23f61c7583009a54db27aa875f037a09.jpg     20190515113926_1.thumb.jpg.1d784e3d00bd43a0f6369055807b3045.jpg

Only the 1 signing this season coming in, and it had a massive impact. 6 goals and 11 assists in 17 games was a fantastic return from the RW and proved crucial to us winning the title.

Youth Production

20190515114511_1.thumb.jpg.3acbd3dbe204e2879eded9bb83418c91.jpg     20190515114455_1.thumb.jpg.0ff1d7fc109b766f64003cd9c6fcbf08.jpg     20190515114450_1.thumb.jpg.279e7a103a98d5515c287238d43dc920.jpg     20190515114446_1.thumb.jpg.6a3af56670de032ee6d41655f69db3a9.jpg

Another so called golden generation but the majority have poor personalities/determination. But 3 are high potential, the LW Rastelli 20i isnt so highly rated but I think we could develop him into a squad player/back up option.

Facilities and Finances

20190515122927_1.thumb.jpg.457ad4f825cfd1d44b080d66ed50b74b.jpg     20190515123032_1.thumb.jpg.4743a925ed9ca072fdc0f6ada05e0886.jpg

Finances are better than expected, but we have have not upgrading anything just yet.

Next Season

We will be massive favourites to go down, so just staying up will be enough for me.

Season Review 2019/20

A really poor start to the season saw us finish 5th in the first phase, placing us in Group 2 for the second stage. We managed to top Group 2, but lost at the quarter final stage for the second season running.  In the cup we lost in the first round to SP Cailungo.

Playing Squad

    20190515212627_1.thumb.jpg.a472b77837659923efd4099ae4f3730b.jpg     20190515110832_1.thumb.jpg.6c83bd2a4c15392fb115b87245101794.jpg

Our squads Ok, we are still some way off challenging for the title though.

Transfers

20190515212803_1.thumb.jpg.f135dfffb84c59feb77d862c41eedfac.jpg

A busy year, which is probably to blame for the slow start, but we need to keep improving.

Youth Production

20190515095734_1.thumb.jpg.93adbae0121dbb0058b6492af725b51e.jpg

Not a bad intake at all, one 5* CA player is always a bonus for me.

Facilities and Finances

20190515213204_1.thumb.jpg.8bdd25cc891e746c48a9f2f4a7852dc8.jpg     20190515213200_1.thumb.jpg.047a5a76be0f13f8874c4be4b3269cbe.jpg

Still looking pretty solid considering we have had 3 upgrades to junior coaching and our youth recruitment network, aswel as 1 to the youth facilities, this is due to be completed in September of this year (2020).

Next Season

We could do with getting to the Semi Finals at least, and a cup run would be nice,

Pre Season 2020/21

San Marino Calcio

Expectations

20190516012534_1.thumb.jpg.c70c86571981ade63b709b8a5ebbd049.jpg     20190516013237_1.thumb.jpg.986c4c913d8077efd62ae0767398d945.jpg

The bookies have us as joint favourites to finish bottom of the league and the board have asked us to fight bravely against relegation. This is a realistic expectation, and will be the initial aim. Pre season was good results wise, we played teams of similar/smaller rep, I always do this as I feel its better to go into the season on the back of decent results.

Transfers/Squad

20190516012842_1.thumb.jpg.f056f905c99240d8f2013550a1ebaa39.jpg     20190516012847_1.thumb.jpg.202ca3e16e31069332863f483c3150e5.jpg

Its a very young side, so plenty of room for improvement as the season progresses, and if the general PA is anything to go by, there is lots of room for progression within the squad. We added 3 loan signings, all Sammarinese, and all 3 should improve our line up.

Pre season was decent, we played alot of games due to the domestic season not starting until late September. Interestingly, we are predicted to finish 6th by the bookies. This is a big jump from the previous 2 seasons, when we were expected to be around the bottom half of the league. The board are now also expecting us to finish around the top of the league, but im not sure if we are good enough yet.

The squads getting better year on year, and we do have 3 players who stand out this season. Grandoni is LB on loan from (unofficial) parent club San Marino Calcio, Natali was signed from La Fiorita last summer and had a great year for a 17 year old, im hoping he can do even better this season. The third player is our first real decent youth product Luca Censoni 20a, he is already being played by the national sides u21's team, and should turn into a decent player at this standard. Having scouted him with my Calcio scouts, he looks the real deal for this level. A major flaw is the low determination levels of our squad, this is something I am looking to improve with my next few signings.

Season Review 2020/21

San Marino Calcio

Predicted to finish 2nd from bottom, we managed to seal a second season at this level by finishing 15th. This was a real struggle, picking up just 2 wins in our first 23 league games, although we did also draw 10 of those games. This meant I still had faith we wasn't that far behind quality wise, and with a slight shift in formation to a more defensive tactic, we actually improved going forwards.  We picked up some great form, and in the end limped to safety with a game remaining, before outclassing 4th placed Cesena on the last day when the pressure was off.

Transfers

Just the 3 loanees mentioned in the previous post. Colombo was excellent for us between the sticks, but Juventus want him playing at a higher level next season. The other 2, Fabri and Nanni are both out of contract and have been offered deals by us. If we can sign both permanently I will be delighted.

Playing Squad

20190521092516_1.thumb.jpg.d3fb1d0e253e660a016fd304dbdba723.jpg

We have some serious talent in our squad now potential wise, and I think with another season at this level, we should be aiming for a mid table position next year. We are yet to have any real interest from other clubs, so hopefully we can keep the squad together.

Youth Production

Dont have a screenshot of the intake but this lad is all that matters. We seem to be producing Lbs at a decent rate, with 3 decent HG lads in the squad, but this guy is the pick of the bunch. Although I doubt he will be here long, I will gladly move him on, as the club needs the money. Also he is already in the national squad, and will be capped the next time we play just in case he tries change his mind and wants to play for Italy. Also the small point that his better than any other Lb we have.

We are ticking along, I am trying to stay well under the wage budgets etc, as we lose money every month. The only way to get this sorted is sell players which I would if its the right offer for the right player, or get promoted, which I dont think is on the horizon just yet.

Next Season

I am going to aim for a mid table finish, obviously the board will be told the lowest possible option, but I think with our young squad, we can develop and definitely push on. Just not to be involved in the relegation scrap would be a success.

Season Review 2020/21

SS Virtus

Competitions

First Phase/Second Phase/Champions Play Off

20190521095921_1.thumb.jpg.45c6c539bebc20c8b841c962b27766a9.jpg     20190521095929_1.thumb.jpg.f09c3a1b4cc7897adbca7f4c94d48604.jpg     20190521095939_1.thumb.jpg.a8e4cb2710b67dc1d0c0aebf0de71991.jpg

For the second season running we have struggled in the first phase, but then prospered in the second phase. I'm not sure why this is, although I know being in group 2 for the second phase should in theory, make it easier to qualify for the Champions Play Off. This year we went one further than last as we managed to get into the Semi Finals before losing to eventual League Winners Folgore/Falciano who also beat us 2 seasons ago at the  QF stage (Rivalry Incoming?). They are now back to back league champions, and appear the dominant domestic force.

Coppa Titano

20190521100155_1.thumb.jpg.09cb8e38abc0b6f8626e74b7c586b39f.jpg     20190521095833_1.thumb.jpg.35609c34e730355792d66c936ca6d0f6.jpg

A historic year for the club as we sealed our first ever piece of silverware, winning the Coppa Titano. What made it all the more sweeter, was youth prospects Censoni 20a and Lazzarini 21b scored the goals that sealed the victory. This has ensured us a Preliminary Europa League spot.

Transfers

20190521094132_1.thumb.jpg.272005b7a8597798045695b7ce090bae.jpg

Another pretty busy year, Bonifazi was the only player who really came into the first team, he played 20 games scoring 5 goals and assisting 2. being able to play basically anywhere in midfield, he has been a valuable option this season.

Playing Squad

20190521094526_1.thumb.jpg.1ecaa5613c851bfc35d310e9039dbbdf.jpg

The squad keeps getting stronger, with the above 3 our key men in my eyes. Censoni 20a hit 7 goals from CM in he's breakthrough season, and providing we can keep him, will only go from strength to strength. Natali had another good season.

Youth Production

The upgrades behind the scenes over the past 2 seasons are starting to bear fruit now. 4 decent players in this years intake, with one already at 4.5* CA. Its a shame 2 are Rb's but im not complaining.

Financially we are looking solid, and with at least 2 Europa League games to play, I say at least very confident it will probably be just the two Europa League games but this should see us bank a bit more money, and hopefully we can try and push to go at least semi pro.

Next Season

After this seasons cup win, and having lost in the third placed play off, the aim has to be to go at least one better, although Ill settle for a Champions Play Off semi final berth again.

I've only just started a San Marino challenge, and am enjoying it so far - so I can see why you'd have a third crack at it!  I've been unsure about the quality of the database I'm using - what one have you used?  I'll probably keep my current save going for now, but if I have a second go, it would be good to know.

I like the idea about using a second manager with SS Virtus and the U21/U19's.

Good luck!

Cheers.

Im using the claasen updates for both leagues, usually the most reliable.

It just adds another depth to the save for me and keeps me interested.

Season Review 2021/22

SS Virtus

Competitons...First Phase/Second Phase/Europa League.

The less said about this season the better really. Started by getting absolutely hammered in the Europa League Best Placed First Qualifying Round. We were up against Shkendija of Macedonia, and I though they cant be that much better than us, but they was, spanking us 10-1 over the two legs. We did bank £215k for our troubles though. Domestically we started well, winning the Super Coppa Sammarinese (Community Shield) and after last years progress was feeling like this could be our year, it was quite the opposite. A shocking First Phase saw us finish in our usual 5th, and even then in the weaker of the Second Phase groups, we could only finish 5th again, failing to qualify for the Champions Play Off for the first time in 4 seasons. We also lost early on in the cup.

Transfers

20190523130529_1.thumb.jpg.5ae097fc2a35f02cfe5fc7c8c4fc6e1a.jpg

We are still unable to bring anyone in who's much better than what we have, but haven't lost anyone either really.

Playing Squad

20190523131547_1.thumb.jpg.7b32f99f501f06b7693275e6dff16cde.jpg

This is more a picture of my squad for next season, although I plan on doing some serious player searching this summer, as I really need to start winning the league to have any hope of turning semi pro anytime soon.

Youth Production

20190522150900_1.thumb.jpg.46e525b92e57592edebef6b352b96b18.jpg     20190523131738_1.thumb.jpg.0a5c8cb7d291a5971c425474bda4ab08.jpg     20190523131853_1.thumb.jpg.168351f406fbd4ebacc6c7d478d05e4f.jpg

Zafferani 22a is a decent looking lb, which we have been in need off. Ricci 22b is the next highest rated.

Finances and Facilities

The strongest part of the club at the moment. We have had an upgrade to both the training and youth facilities, and also upgraded our junior coaching and youth recruitment a couple of times.

Next Season

We really need to improve or I could find myself out of a job.

Season Review 2012/22

San Marino Calcio

Competitions

A really solid year, predicted to finish bottom of the league, we blew that out of the water pretty quickly, and managed to finish in 7th position. We really grew into the league this season, and if we can keep up our form next season, we will have a real shot at promotion. In the Promotion play offs we lost in the 2nd round to Santarcangelo.

Transfers

20190524123843_1.thumb.jpg.efd8aa0f6d1c99517a19e7262dc42cbf.jpg          20190524123825_1.thumb.jpg.41f337c513e47644183a9e07bc036099.jpg    20190524123820_1.thumb.jpg.f0e4dff12959f2b05adb580880d2d007.jpg

Just the 2 incomings, Fabri had spent last season on loan with us, he was out of contract also. Ercolani was spotted by my scouts and even though he has performed well for the u20's, I doubt he will ever break into the first team.

Playing Squad

20190524123758_1.thumb.jpg.7396773af13bbcec089cd09c2fb4881b.jpg     20190524123754_1.thumb.jpg.7397e90cc38e69edb6b3bf77dc4f32dc.jpg     20190524124508_1.thumb.jpg.b260b322350c722fc777b5db53f72183.jpg

Its not bad, but its not amazing either, we are slowly starting to develop some decent youngsters aswel, so we adding depth each season that passes. LB Zavoli 21a is by far the strongest player in the squad. and with just 12 months left on hes contract, he will be moving on this summer. You can see the standard of clubs interested, so I am hoping we can move him on for a decent amount, that gives us abit more financial stability in the long term, and maybe even a hefty percentage of any future fee. We have another promising LB in Amici 20a, so losing Zavoli 21a wont be such a blow.

Youth Production

20190522222936_1.thumb.jpg.f5f75e238033649781b2625667cf26d9.jpg

Another decent intake, but I also have to take in account the potential PA is only relevant to the standard of my squad, so seeing a few 5* CA players is not such a big deal at this level. 3 of the top 4 are eligible for San Marino which is a massive plus, and there is another LB.

Finances and Facilities

20190524123914_1.thumb.jpg.e9ba854cf14721582312b321c83b821c.jpg     20190524123918_1.thumb.jpg.f7f80e4fc8065006e5238c2d367b4fcb.jpg

Not the best year here, but its only going to improve if we can get promoted, or we can sell players for decent money which minus Zavoli 21a, is not really an option yet.

Next Season

We have to aim for the play offs at the very least. A 29 point gap between us and 1st makes it look like we was miles away from promotion this season so the play offs is a realistic aim.

First Biggish Sale (San Marino Calcio)

20190524152044_1.thumb.jpg.77cd7724b64eae5f46cfc05d05b002f8.jpg     20190524152031_1.thumb.jpg.2eb7c7d4b8b18e55f12ef6103936a465.jpg

I mentioned in the post above that LB Zavoli 21a would be moving on this summer, and that he has. Although its a disappointing deal. Having  turned down offers of £2.5m up front along with 50% of a future transfer fee, the board ended up accepting a bid from Inter of £3.2m up front with no add ons. I obviously protested, but the board were having none of it. Now that money is going to clean up our finances massively, and hopefully enable me to upgrade some of the facilities, but I feel like we could have thrown in some add ons, and got ourselves a better deal. Anyway I am somewhat proud our first prospect is off to a big club to progress with his career, and who knows, maybe we can get him back one day.

The next left back is line is Amici 20a, this young lad, who is not as good as Zavoli 21a, is still a decent little player with lots of room for progression. A season of first team football should tell us if he can fulfill his potential, and replace Zavoli.

As expected, we have managed to get an upgrade to our Junior Coaching, Youth Recruitment Network, Youth Facilities and Training Facilities. This is a massive deal for us, as we have been struggling to get any upgrades due to the bad finances, but now have £567k in the bank after paying for the above upgrades.

National Team Review 2018-2023

I did plan on doing yearly reports and will more than likely resort to that later on in the save, but at the start of this challenge, progress is so slow that I really dont see the point. Here's a overview of the last 5 Campaigns.

2018 Nations League D

20190524211925_1.thumb.jpg.d51743337de292645358d4506d5481fc.jpg     20190524211921_1.thumb.jpg.90a3b0355962efd9ebfe454b1b78ea91.jpg

Amazingly we won our first competitive fixture against Luxembourg, but then it was all downhill from there.

EURO 2020 Qualifiers

20190524212140_1.thumb.jpg.40a57b27fac8f6da06a14a4b9bf74e3c.jpg     20190524212136_1.thumb.jpg.883f8ccb0b67e21c51d03d55c24158b3.jpg

The usual 10 played, 10 lost.

2020 Nations League D

20190524212205_1.thumb.jpg.5ce1f071381b46c71b5647d742009f00.jpg     20190524212200_1.thumb.jpg.8339f5f067ab8f56715e044d35bfe12b.jpg

Small signs of progress, picking up 7 points.

World Cup 2022 Qualifiers

20190524212241_1.thumb.jpg.9a1b100c98737f3ece0c2e7baae788d7.jpg     20190524212226_1.thumb.jpg.5d10ba284b678a217de1d6d44c94e6f4.jpg

Dis someone say 10 played 10 lost??

2022 Nations League

20190524212306_1.thumb.jpg.2e436a2179e17b049829e98a5ec318b8.jpg     20190524212259_1.thumb.jpg.77777e9b68483fb9749979236411df69.jpg

I was hoping to do better, but 8 points is still 1 more than last time.

National Team Ranking/Domestic League Ranking

20190524212753_1.thumb.jpg.38c0629dd40982326f84418252242f9d.jpg      20190524212744_1.thumb.jpg.8ba4e38f33b84ec433f8175f30e04a6d.jpg

As you can see, we started ranked 204th, and have moved up 10 places so far. The Domestic league has stayed ranked 198th for the past 4 seasons, I think this is because no Sammarinese side has won a game in European competition as yet. We have had a few different winners of the domestic league though, La Fiorita have usually dominated on my previous saves, but a change of manager, and their fortunes went downhill.

This season started and ended really well. We flew out of the blocks, romping home to 1st place in the first phase, before really struggling in the second phase. We only lost 3 but 6 draws meant we was never going to challenge the top places. In the Champions Play Off everything clicked, and we sealed our first league title against Pennarossa with a 2-0 victory.

In the cup we lost in the QF to SP Cailungo

Another busy summer, but after last years awful showing we needed a reshuffle. The two players shown were instrumental to the title success, and hopefully we dont lose anyone important. Out of the 4 outgoings, LB Zafferanni 22a was the only player I didnt want to the leave, and I will try to get him back as he looks a decent prospect.

A fantastic return this season, and with the team being so young, we should really be looking to secure some more titles over the next few years. These 3 are for me our key men alongside to two shown in the transfers section. 2 of them are academy products.

     Youth Development

By far the strongest intake of the save so far, and you can really see the improvements in the facilities bearing fruit now. I could show you most of the intake, but these 4 look for me the best of the bunch.

Finances and Facilities

20190525101925_1.thumb.jpg.8320364c0317a20c7059422b52cae750.jpg     20190525101929_1.thumb.jpg.1c8be40fdd82f51c627362ca0aaa37fe.jpg

Another strong year for the club on this front, and with another youth recruitment improvement just accepted by the board, it is now rated at Well Established". You can see from the intakes that this is bearing fruit. With 2 Champions League games, and 2 Europa League games to play next season, our bank balance should be even higher this time next year.

Next Season

If we are to turn semi-pro anytime soon, I think we need to establish ourselves as the dominant side domestically, so I will be aiming for another league title and maybe even the cup aswel. In Europe I expect to lose whatever game we play so will just be happy to take the money.

San Marino Calcio Season Review 2022/23

Even though we finished with 12 less points than last season, this was a much more comfortable season. We flew out the blocks and that meant relegation was never really a worry. But after the winter break we really struggled to find our form and that meant be never really challenged the higher placed teams. In the Play Offs we went out as the lower seed against Pisa in the first round.

Another good year of progression for us, and with some really exciting prospects in the youth sides, we should only get better.

Its a shame that 3 out of the 4 will never play for the national team, but they all look like ok prospects, and even if they develop well and get sold on, will benefit the club on or off the pitch hopefully.

We are within our budgets, even if the club loses money regularly. But need promotion to sort the finances out and get on a sound footing.

Next Season

We really need to get promoted from a financial point of view, but I am not sure we are anywhere good enough just yet. A play off spot, and run to the latter rounds will satisfy me.

SS Virtus European Adventure

20190527083343_1.thumb.jpg.a75780e402868b2a208ec6bab913de12.jpg

I honestly expected to lose our first game, having looked at the history of other Sammarinese clubs in Europe, no team had won a single game to date, so we went into our first game in the Champions League First Preliminary Round against Havnar Boltfelag of the Faroe Islands with no real expectations. The bookies had it as a pretty 50/50 game and we managed to pull off a 3-2 win. In the Second Preliminary Round we faced Balzan Youths of Malta, and this time we was underdogs but pulled off another 3-2 win.

This put us into the Champions League First Qualifying Phase and we drew Hungarians league champions Videoton and as expected, they thumped us in the first leg. The second leg back home was a much better result and showed we have a half decent side. Exiting the Champions League put us into the Europa League Second Qualifying Phase, here we faced Talinna Fc Flora of Estonia, and even as massive underdogs, we managed 2 draws, but exited on away goals.

20190527083314_1.thumb.jpg.32f0bf5e6c45823d108ea3ed57419f5e.jpg

I am delighted with our showing in Europe, we should be looking to retain the domestic title this season and that will obviously give us another go at European football. Also as expected, the club has received a massive financial boost from the 6 games played, with the bank balance now at £1.6m. I will be looking to request to go semi-pro as soon as I can.

Season Review 2023/24 San Marino Calcio

Competitions

20190527203259_1.thumb.jpg.2a4b001758d1c8ac110bc22af75e101c.jpg

Its been a really disappointing year in my opinion, although we defied the usual relegation predictions comfortably, we could only manage a 12th placed finish in the league. Having been in and around the play off spots all season, only to lose 7 of our last 12 games and throw it away.

Transfers

20190527202044_1.thumb.jpg.ead92c377568b635e9cead535d52a71a.jpg

We signed nobody this year and only two outgoings, both loans

Playing Squad

20190527202040_1.thumb.jpg.4d01a00b54bf0cf3fda2621a1f69d68b.jpg    20190527202647_1.thumb.jpg.dfcadcaf5733e6eb4e06bf26eef78af7.jpg     20190527202642_1.thumb.jpg.d98e9cd10ba47c2ba7c20a572acfe4d5.jpg

Not a great season at all, I thought we would get a play off spot so I am really disappointed. This season has had its positives though, as we have seen the emergence of Dani 23c and Pachera 21b into first team players, and with alot of potential in the youth sides, we should see more come through over the next year or two.

Youth Production

20190527184204_1.thumb.jpg.806f8f3da71cfe6d0d1aba7cd4eaf207.jpg

Its not a bad intake, its just not a great one either.

20190527202838_1.thumb.jpg.1e78fac1bc331dfbd51a23e6d3490da5.jpg      20190527202849_1.thumb.jpg.038a204a069cadfa745b443eb669d5bb.jpg

On a wider note, our youth production is going really well. Both youth sides finished top of their respective leagues this season, and although we are only in division 2 with both sides, we regularly top our league. With 14 Academy Products currently in and around the first team, it wont be long before we start developing enough to move on and start making some money from them.

Finances and Facilities

20190527202049_1.thumb.jpg.566499037d7909780e3c279e3bda0c45.jpg     20190527202051_1.thumb.jpg.0db6b5ff944288b81405f2a3c639bc49.jpg

No sales meant the finances just got slightly worse, there is really nothing we can do but gain promotion, or sell people.

Next Season

I honestly feel as if we are ready to push on and challenge at the top of the league, but then I say that every season.

Season Review 2023/24 SS Virtus

Competitions

20190527204246_1.thumb.jpg.199cc67403a6f80161326267568cfb0c.jpg

A domestic clean sweep this season and it was well deserved. By far the best team in the division, im really hoping this now kick starts a period of dominance for us.

Transfers

20190527204027_1.thumb.jpg.f1da66f9102b7611bbf7ba4d4fbd16e8.jpg

We lost some good players at the start of the season, 2 key  men from last seasons title win, and I can say I feared how bad their losses would effect us, we even changed formation due to losing AMC Natali. You will notice all the transfers at the bottom are the better ones of this years intake, I forgot to offer them contracts only to be told their trials were finished, so I quickly snapped up the ones I liked.

Playing Squad

20190527204021_1.thumb.jpg.50bc9cf450a68e79dce7afdb11765f44.jpg     20190527203947_1.thumb.jpg.0bf8d8044b39939d6c9ff244af4404df.jpg

This squad can go on and dominate this division for the foreseeable future.

Youth Production

Not our best intake, but people develop at such different speeds at this level, its hard to really tell who will prosper. We also managed a double at youth level this season, proving our work behind the scenes is doing the club good.

Finances and Facilities

20190527204037_1.thumb.jpg.a68d71b3aa6e795ff547e02f49d9568f.jpg     20190527204034_1.thumb.jpg.26ab56e8655d7616c4dd8e506d5123cc.jpg

Another strong year, and with another European Campaign to look forward to, should continue to rise.  We had a further Junior Coaching Budget and Youth Recruitment Network upgrades this season aswel, bringing us up to Excellent and Extensive.

Next Season

20190527093330_1.thumb.jpg.d1645e03e38ed560fbcd2a0ccf77d037.jpg

This was announced just after our European adventure came to an end, Im still pretty sure it will go through, but am dreading the board cancelling it. We will be the fourth team in San Marino to go semi-pro, and this is only going to benefit what is already a young and potentially brilliant squad of players. I am going to have to really manage our finances as we make the switch over though, so will only be offering P/T contracts to the main stars of the team.

Champions League

20190606231631_1.thumb.jpg.9d3b7f04e600328eb0aaba3634319769.jpg

This has to be the weirdest season I have ever been a part of. We absolutely tore up the league stages of the season, breaking the records for most wins and Goals scored. And then we bottled the play offs, before sealing 3rd place and a return to Europe at least. In the Cup we lost to Fiorentino in the QF.

In Europe, lost to  Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League 1st Prelim, before losing to them again in the Europa League 2nd QR.

Transfers

20190606225324_1.thumb.jpg.8f1e0d5ca2c3553a9970b43d95123b27.jpg

A summer of upheaval, but this was forced mainly by us losing so many players to other teams. Admittedly, most were either back up options, or squad players, but even so it weakened us more than I expected.

Playing Squad

20190606225306_1.thumb.jpg.8d1aed7cdb7141b6897e86882c034b32.jpg      20190606182703_1.thumb.jpg.4939cc0ee9640b14a9c6e936f892af46.jpg

We have some real stand out players, and then a lot of bang average players. I will be looking to sign a few players this summer, after blowing the league, the squad needs some improvements. Add on the fact we lost so many players over the last two windows.

Youth Development

20190605172956_1.thumb.jpg.a1c9de6a7dd678301aaa10af9bd7af15.jpg     20190605173000_1.thumb.jpg.719f8644a57ef7ab1360ecfabc2715ae.jpg

A really good intake, and this lad, Manuel Giacobbi 25a is by far the best player we have produced to date. Its the shame the national team already has a decent left back, as he could play at a higher level im sure.

Finances and Facilities

20190606224008_1.thumb.jpg.e5119c76b8a4f0dd48e6a562a09d6f09.jpg     20190606224017_1.thumb.jpg.09b69d514d68c9ccaf509e8cea796e75.jpg

You might be wondering how we have gone from £2m in the bank to £540k, well the biggest chunk has been the ongoing youth and training facilities upgrades which are due completion in October of this year. The other expense this year has been to players on non contracts with appearance fees etc. One thing I am baffled by though is we cant offer part time contracts to any players, only non contracts. Can anyone advise me on why this is? or is this a bug?

Next Season

We simply need to get our league title back and have a cup run.

Season Review 2024/25 San Marino Calcio

Its been a brilliant season for us. We started slowly, but improved as the season went on and sealed a first ever season in Serie B via the play offs. Having only lost 1 in 10 games prior to the play offs, I knew we stood a chance of promotion. We was lucky in the 2nd Rnd, going through after a 1-1 draw based om being the higher seeds.

In the Cup we lost in the first round group stage.

Transfers

20190607083348_1.thumb.jpg.988c19d5e1fd692fd0ea57a49ec276ba.jpg

A very quiet year on the transfer front, this is a good thing though, as it means we havent lost anyone.

Another solid season of progression, and we now have 3/4 really good players for this level, whether they can make the step up to Serie B remains to be seen. This season was a breakthrough season for Sammarinese striker Daniele Selva 21c, he was in and around the first team last season, but has really made the striker spot hes own this year. He scored 10 goals in 21 starts, and has the potential to be a decent striker. The other 3 shown are the best products produced by us (Minus Zavoli 21a who is at Inter now). LB Amici 20a has gone from strength to strength and will only get better with the step, he has already made 120 appearances for us. RB Dani 23c emerged last season and is another player who looks capable of making the step up. Both full backs have been attracting interest from bigger clubs but I am hoping to keep hold of them for this next season at least. CM Pachera 21b is another player attracting interest from bigger clubs. All 4 will be vital if we are to have any real chance of staying up.

Youth Development

I am very happy with this intake, not only are the top 2 players eligible for the national team, but they are also good prospects. We have needed a CB for a while, and Moroni 25b looks like a good player for the future. Also the GK Nanni 25j looks like he could develop into a decent little squad option. We also have another 2 decent full backs, which is a position we seem to produce players in regularly. Not a clue why that is.

Finances and Facilities

Not the best of seasons, at one point we was down to £-1m but the board keep pumping money in, I am hoping we get enough money next season to sort out our finances for a bit.

Next Season

We are going to be massive favourites for the drop, and to be honest, I can see us going down without too much of a fight.

SS Virtus European Campaign 2025/26

20190611134620_1.thumb.jpg.08804de3bcb9abb11ea99712dd91e440.jpg

Last seasons 3rd placed play off win meant we missed out on a Champions League spot and entered the Europa League at the Best Placed Preliminary Round where we faced Lynx FC from Gibraltar.  A easy 4-1 win over two legs saw us progress to face Valletta who hail from Malta, in what was predicted to be a tight contest we ran riot both games sealing a 12-1 win on aggregate. This meant we was in the EL BP 2nd Qualifying Rd for the third time, and faced Romanian side CFR Cluj who were just too good for us. We lost both ties to end up 4-1 losers on aggregate, but I was delighted we kept the scores reasonable. This is the furthest we have got in Europe so far, and having lost to Lincoln Red Imps at this stage 2 years ago, I know we can at least go one round further. To get into the Group Stages we would need to win the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round qualifying ties, so we are still some way off that yet.

Looks like a reasonable career in the league. I'm guessing it's just the lack of quality in San Marino in general that's keeping you from getting further in Europe? Good luck for the coming season.

Yeah the general standard of player is still pretty rubbish and below average when it comes to other European leagues.

Although with the facilities upgrades, I am starting to see the difference in the quality of players we are producing.

National Team Update March 2026

Although I have been in charge of all 3 national sides since the start of the save, I have only really been half managing the sides, due to the standard of player being so poor. Having had a real in depth look at the player pool available, this is the year we start focusing on this side of the save. The aim is to have success at all age groups eventually, and although we are some way off this yet, I feel we have the players to now start progressing.

Senior Side

20190613075359_1.thumb.jpg.06cee56144890cf09d695dfb177a2ca5.jpg

Key Players

    20190613075411_1.thumb.jpg.1181a9669ec9bfa5a6f1d858f302ce42.jpg     20190613075427_1.thumb.jpg.e5ffc55dd4fd48972eb56f57041cfec7.jpg     20190613075420_1.thumb.jpg.d078b829bc05b8a8f8589128893c0c08.jpg

As you can see from the squad shot, we have a decent little team now, one that should really be pushing us higher up the rankings. We are currently sat 190th which shows how little progress has been made over the last 8 campaigns. This year I have set up friendlies with sides who are ranked higher than us, but sides we should be beating. This should aid us in our goal of climbing. Dont be fooled by the amount of 5 star CA of some of the players as Volpinari 23b for example, is only rated at 3 star by our club, and is currently operating playing at Lega Pro standard. Our only player of real quality is Zavoli 21a, he moved to Inter  earlier in the save and has played 8 times for them this season, hopefully he can become the 1st choice left back soon. The third key man is Selva 21c. He is going from strength to strength development wise, he has struggled abit in Serie B, but then so has the club side so I am hoping if we stay up, he will start to blossom next season. We have a Nations League Campaign this season and I think its about time we started to push for promotion.

U21S

20190613080626_1.thumb.jpg.a02d1d4bdb39ad5db623b360996f9af1.jpg

With a more serious focus on the national teams, I have decided that I want to start with more focus on the U19s side and let them grow into the u21 side over time. So for now, the u21s side are going to be the least focused on out the three. This will be detrimental initially, but we lose most games anyway so doesnt really effect much.

U19s

20190613080852_1.thumb.jpg.d3241c009782c3956de946220fc3e943.jpg

Key Men

Now this team is not anything special as such, and I doubt good enough to actually take us to a tournament, however it is pretty decent and I think we can at least start to pick up some results. Made up mostly of San Marino Calcio and SS Virtus players, the potential is massive, and I am hoping to bring through a group of players who can all progress to the senior side together. We have massive depth at left back, with 3 players all capable of performing to a high standard, this means I can allow Giacobbi to progress through the sides without it effecting the senior team. Moroni is in and around the clubs first team, and I expect him to start playing more games over the next season or 2. Vitaioli came through Fiorentino's academy and is joining San Marino Calcio this summer. He is the best player produced outside our 2 clubs, so want to see how far he can develop.

San Marino Calcio - Relegation Scrap

20190613141518_1.thumb.jpg.8877496e6263d31f98dd8740f315d34f.jpg

Its been a long and tough season, and as we reach the end there is still everything to play for.  We have struggled defensively this season, but with games in hand, and 3 of our last 5 games against teams in the bottom half including a massive 6 pointer against Chievo on the final day, I am hoping to earn another season at this level. Going down wont be the end of the world but I would prefer not to.

After a brilliant showing in Europe, went into the domestic season full of hope, and rightly so. We romped home in the first and second phases, dropping just 7 points along the way. Our sole loss was on the final day of the league season to Tre Penne. In the Champions Play Off we secured 2 easy wins before facing Tre Penne in the final. A tight 2-2 draw after extra time meant the lottery of a penalty shoot out, luckily we rose to the challenge and secured our 3rd league title of the save. We also broke the most goals scored record with a tally of 75.  La Fiorita hold the record of 8 league titles, and the long term aim is to "Knock them off their Perch"

20190613153907_1.thumb.jpg.d06e077d5567c2b6ae00c2073f3b0a71.jpg

In the Coppa Titano we plundered goals up until the final, and then struggled to overcome Tre Fiori 2-1.

More ins than outs as we needed more depth after last seasons collapse.

20190613154740_1.thumb.jpg.58b5cd30584c6b7b6f99022213a75fff.jpg     20190613154915_1.thumb.jpg.e0a08a00d2f7e0631bf3f6c6e62d9ff3.jpg      20190613154921_1.thumb.jpg.2c38945c71bbabbfe2531025f52b6d0e.jpg

Losing Rastelli was a blow as he played really well for us last season, but we clearly didnt miss him. Loan signing Nanni had a great season and has had the loan extended. Veronesi was brilliant in the number 10 role, and former youth product Valentini 23d was brought back to shore up our defense.

Playing Squad

20190613153314_1.thumb.jpg.0d2022deb9582d0e089f01ddc69c3a20.jpg      20190613163137_1.thumb.jpg.c5d2350d7d64fdaa6ff4e212c42dd3bc.jpg

Its really good for this level. In the next post I will do a in depth look into the first 11 and the main back up players. Key men this season were basically everyone.

Youth Production

20190612221936_1.thumb.jpg.c75e08364764559fe5ad93f7da125df3.jpg     20190612221949_1.thumb.jpg.3df0df01d9f93b20e1a0192d7144809b.jpg     20190612221940_1.thumb.jpg.2fce61e6645a8ef75b7e25b878ef56a0.jpg     20190613123835_1.thumb.jpg.ff8bbf76538a582269e0320f3ae0aaac.jpg

The facilities are far ahead of anything in our league, and as such we are producing some really good players. The depth of the intakes has dropped, we no longer get a full intake of 5* PA players. However, we are producing at least 1 player a year now who is of a really good standard, and this year is the best one yet. Alessandro Cervellini 26a is bar far the best player we have produced to date, he may well be better than anyone San Marino Calcio have produced barring Zavoli 21a. And just to confirm the potential, he goes and scores on his International and club debuts. He looks too good for this level already, but I dont want to move him on just yet, a year or 2 here will do him good, and he can then get a move to San Marino Calcio.

Finances and Facilities

20190613153458_1.thumb.jpg.e5465fbac891f968446890aab2ee372e.jpg     20190613153456_1.thumb.jpg.f0d436eb5c112807930d67c0768cee2e.jpg

Another solid year on this front, we operate at a monthly loss, but factor in Europe which is almost a guarantee now and we then turn a profit. We have another training ground and youth facilities upgrade ongoing, and I am bugging the board to turn fully at every opportunity, but to no avail as of yet.

Next Season

Retain the League and Cup and maybe go one step further in Europe, We are still miles away from realistically getting to any group stage, but having lost 3 times in the EL 2ND Prelim, its time to take one step further.

SS Virtus Squad.

Coming off the back of a very successful season, I thought I would show the players currently taking us to new heights.

Tactics

20190613160608_1.thumb.jpg.5c8c0f831a68d2c290c75959f9563cee.jpg

GK

20190613155320_1.thumb.jpg.16947695ab7c7b2d8002b06e495bf6c1.jpg

Alberti 23a has been with us a while now, 73 games played, 60 goals conceded is a pretty decent record. He isnt great, and we can definitely upgrade him, but he will do for now.

RB

20190613155326_1.thumb.jpg.778ef26c366eb1b9d3c98d2298dcbdef.jpg

Piraz 21c has been a stand out performer for us for some time, making 98 appearances so far. He broke the assists record last season with 15, and I am seriously considering taking him to San Marino Calcio to see how he fares with the step up.  Is also the national sides first choice Rb.

LB

20190613155337_1.thumb.jpg.6bbc07a571dff90609e3bac2199a4aad.jpg

Giacobbi 25a is another player too good for this level, came through in last seasons intake and made the LB position his own. Its a shame LB is a position the national team has 2 really good players in, or he would already be capped.

CB

20190613155333_1.thumb.jpg.cb673be548129735e42a2a26dc42804c.jpg      20190613155329_1.thumb.jpg.a269e8b1c2b918995fa68af18c17a174.jpg

Michelotti was originally a CM, but with the options we now have, I moved him back into a ball playing defender, and he has performed really well there. As has Valentini 23d who left us, only to see the error he had made and soon came running back. Ill forgive him, the young can be naive.

CM

20190613155345_1.thumb.jpg.c253d7c939c3c5826343f6c2850641ba.jpg      20190613155342_1.thumb.jpg.307880368bdfb16ebb470b366c1be447.jpg

Along with the two full back positions, this is our strongest area of the squad. Censoni 20a was our first 5* youth prospect and the predictions have rang true as he has gone from strength to strength and keeps getting better. 40 goals in 126 games is a solid return for someone who mainly plays as a CM. Cervellini 26a only came through in the current intake, hence the lack of appearances, but will be a key player next season before probably moving on. These two in the middle of the park next season is going to be a joy to watch.

AML

20190613155404_1.thumb.jpg.7db40a007a31ca6c74a7b7740bdaf0b9.jpg

Nanni, On loan from Un-Official parent club San Marino Calcio had a stellar season. Racking up goals and assists, and in general being a nuisance for opposition defences. He is back next season again and should get even better. He can also play on either wing which is another string in his bow.

AMR

20190613155355_1.thumb.jpg.948112b5f1aa4b59f6bdf3fba72e6d04.jpg

Raschi didnt quite make the grade at SMC, but has shone since signing for us. We have 2 decent Rw's so I try and give them both games.

AMC

20190613155359_1.thumb.jpg.f7e4c91cccba8ca4b7c368a32f467f8e.jpg

Veronesi was signed in the summer as we needed a AMC, and my scouts were raving about him. They was right too, he has a fantastic season playing in the 10 role, and will be a key player for us in the future.

ST

20190613155407_1.thumb.jpg.92426ea8803b046544e31c8d459ebfc2.jpg

Berti 23b is turning himself into a real club legend. He has led our attack for 2 seasons now, he hit 19 in 31 last season, and improved this year smashing 39 in 37. He hit 24 in 24 league games, so fell short of the League record of 27. I am sure he will break that soon enough though.

Other squad players.

Outside of the first 11, we lack quality depth, but have players who do whats needed. These are the best 3

San Marino Calcio Season Review 2025/26

Competitions

20190613170153_1.thumb.jpg.c9fb6e59575aa6e7b41931ebeac512ba.jpg     20190613170158_1.thumb.jpg.06170d5523cda98d4288a3f84ece3fe5.jpg

Easily one of the most hardest seasons I think I have ever experienced on any FM. We started with 3 wins in our first 8 games, which had me thinking we would be quite comfortable at this level. The came the downturn, we lost 9 games in a row, and I almost threw in the towel. A team meeting and a tactical adjustment later, we started to pick up points, losing just 5 of the next 14, and giving us some real hope of staying up. 5 games remained and we sat 2 points clear of relegation, we folded, 3 losses and 2 draws meant we ended up 15th, facing a Play off against Chievo to decide who stayed in Serie B. A solid but unspectacular 0-0 at home meant we into the 2nd leg as massive underdogs, only to steal a narrow 1-0 win and with it, a second season in Serie B.

In the TIM CUP we lost to Empoli in the 3rd Qualifying Rnd.

Transfers

20190613170119_1.thumb.jpg.a99c27ba1513942d5c64619b95bdd3ff.jpg

No sales, but a few players finally got loan moves. Up until this season nobody had been interested in any of our players. A sign of progress I suppose. We did sign 3 young Sammarinese players, although this was strictly for the youth sides. None will ever be good enough to grace the senior side. I am expecting to have at least a couple of sales this coming season as bigger clubs circle for our better players.

Playing Squad

20190613170113_1.thumb.jpg.59aeca5da6696eb7f0b1c5dc9bc9b524.jpg     20190613165909_1.thumb.jpg.ee82e6393bd5e33a6229fc227a80453e.jpg

We done really well to stay up, but comparing our players to those of other teams in the division, I can see we are nowhere near the top sides. We need a few seasons development at the very least and could do with keeping the squad together. But with the finances not looking too healthy, I need to make some money. We do have some positions with decent depth like at full back and centre midfield, but it will put us back slightly, as the back up options are not quite as good as the first choice players. The two players who will probably be moving on are Rb Dani 23c and Cm Pachera 21b. Although both are valuable members of the first team, we have other options in these positions so losing them will be a lesser blow than losing others.

Youth Development

20190613114558_1.thumb.jpg.8ae7202ea9cb61d81c836d731bfd9902.jpg

20190613114621_1.thumb.jpg.94e7756dc61526a150f10b1b806feec2.jpg     20190613114615_1.thumb.jpg.ea58b773df1c1f815fc892f193e1d00c.jpg     20190613114605_1.thumb.jpg.03ad3ea8e413e37e79c8f089ee3ea1c2.jpg

   20190613114601_1.thumb.jpg.63c4e87bc00289760367678620ae667c.jpg     20190613114609_1.thumb.jpg.4e33e1de53c43c3715a02c6a853c7a70.jpg

I would say this is the strongest intake of the save so far depth wise. 3 of the best 5 players are eligible for the national team, which is a big bonus. The other big thing for me is the higher determination of the intake on a whole. Our previous intakes have gave us only the odd player with decent determination, so this year things look promising. Tini 26a looks the part, and should develop into a good player. The only issue is the number of centre midfielders and full backs we seem to develop. We need some wingers, some centre backs and a good Sammarinese goalkeeper in future if the national side are ever to make serious progress.

Finances and Facilities

20190613170128_1.thumb.jpg.684e37b2de134a10997d1dd937234127.jpg     20190613170134_1.thumb.jpg.d02ba8fc6035c55c5840949ce9e94fbd.jpg

The financial side of things is really starting to become a worry. -£2m is not a good position to be in. The board are more liekly to accept a shady offer for one of our better players, without allowing me to negotiate a better deal. I will be looking to move on a few players this summer.

Next Season

Another relegation scrap seems inevitable, so bring it on.

Euro Coefficients/Competiton Rankings

We are finally on the rise. The league has jumped one spot back to 198th YAAAAY. More importantly, we moved up 2 places to 52nd in the coefficients table, giving the league 3 EL Spots instead of 2.

Champions League First/Second Preliminary Rnd

We thumped Valetta last season and we have thumped them again with a record breaking 11-0 win. In the 2nd Rnd we faced Lincoln Red Imps. This is the 4th meeting between the two clubs in the last 3 years, with us drawing 1 and them winning 2. The start of a European Rivalry? Maybe so as we took the bragging rights with a well deserved 2-0 win.

This is only the second time we have reached this stage of the Champions League, losing to Hungarian side Videoton in 2023. This time I think we have an easier tie, Moldovan Champions Sheriff Tiraspol. I say an easier tie, but being a 2.5* star club they are clearly bigger than us.

SS Virtus European Adventure 2026

20190620120956_1.thumb.jpg.6b61593bd199779efcdbc20befad7cc9.jpg

I thought we would struggle against Sheriff Tiraspol but we produced 2 excellent performances to progress 4-1 on aggregate. Into the Champions League 2nd Rnd Qualifiers with a tie against HIK from Finland. This was always going to be tough and so it proved with a 3-0 away loss in the first leg. I thought the second game was a dead rubber, but at 4-1 up with 25 mins to play, we almost managed a magical turnaround, but eventually went out on away goals.

This meant we was into the Europa League Champions 3rd Qualifying Rnd. A close game awaited against FK Ventspils from Latvia, a poor showing in the first leg meant we returned home 1-0 down, but managed a second thumping 4-1 home win put us through. The 4th Qualifying Rnd means we were just one 2 legged tie away from a group stage place but a tie against Ludogorets of Bulgaria was a step too far for us. Only losing 3-1 over the two legs was very satisfying as I expected a bigger scoreline. Still a very good campaign which should give the coefficients a good boost. It also banked the club £1.6m in prize money. I am going to hold back on any upgrades behind the scenes and just save money until we can finally go pro.

San Marino National Team Review 2026

Senior Team

20190621085128_1.thumb.jpg.c9917a8623f98dcd1de710c044d4fb6b.jpg     20190621085130_1.thumb.jpg.7794282946d9dab31fbd6f30efd52b0a.jpg     20190621085529_1.thumb.jpg.c4dc369808dd3dae829e704fb16715ca.jpg     20190621090006_1.thumb.jpg.0468983291f251ce018636caec76df07.jpg

By far our most successful season to date. We had a tough group in the nations league, and started badly with a loss and a draw. But 3 wins from our last 4 games, 2 against group favourites Kosovo was enough to seal top spot and promotion to the Nations League Division C. The next major tournament is a European Championships so I think we have also bagged ourselves a Play Off spot.

U21's

       20190621090009_1.thumb.jpg.b4d13f53f8f3a02e8b626ec227bc807b.jpg     20190621085138_1.thumb.jpg.3eefca6349144c0191ed4fb9a4b4c4cf.jpg

My focus has been mainly on the other 2 sides, but 2 wins and 2 draws is an improvement on previous years.

U19's

      20190621090011_1.thumb.jpg.bd8e763607280d28d4ad652af520a06b.jpg     20190621085143_1.thumb.jpg.86754683baf2ec75587ccec1d18f41f1.jpg

We have some real potential in this side, and I could bring a couple more down from the senior side if I really wanted to. However, 1 win from 3 qualifiers was disappointing and I am hoping to do better next year.

Ranking

20190621090444_1.thumb.jpg.4f84183c2bedcc5723fa3644ac2f8471.jpg

We are up to a save high of 179th although we should be higher than that. Some more winnable friendlies against higher ranked sides should help.

January 2027 Exodus (Sort Of)

20190621141259_1.thumb.jpg.eb44227d7b1dc474f158cdce826b9cc2.jpg

As you can see its been a month of losing some of our talented players. 3 first team players have all been sold, all 3 of their contracts were running out and with no desire to re sign I made the call to get some money for them whilst I could.

20190621141313_1.thumb.jpg.db9168667fed55845744ab745e2b5614.jpg     20190621141325_1.thumb.jpg.248d486895c56af1415466666f54b24c.jpg      20190621141308_1.thumb.jpg.3346b8f2e2f653f4b0fe70754e225117.jpg      20190621141318_1.thumb.jpg.ed7b78d28bbe9968ae8091d8d0d5a994.jpg

Tini 26a moved on in the summer. He only came through in the March 2026 intake, and looks like he could be a decent little player. With the clubs finances being poor, the offer was too good to turn down. I learned my lesson in the first couple of seasons, losing Zavoli 21a for a fee with no add ons, so all 4 have a 50% of future transfer clause, as well as numerous add ons added into their deals. Dani 23c and Giovannelli 23a are with us on loan until the end of the season and are 2 important first team players. The other player sold is Ottria 24b. He is the one who will be missed the least, as we have good depth in the middle of the park.

20190621142623_1.thumb.jpg.b7cf2eaf24f27611feeed58e5a5c7a31.jpg

We are still struggling and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, unless one of our sold players suddenly commands a big transfer, however we are £1m better off than we was 6 months ago.

San Marino Calcio Season Review 2026/27

Competitions

20190622112147_1.thumb.jpg.720c505763629aeae4163731b04f33c3.jpg      20190622112157_1.thumb.jpg.8d203ee1be01a01d67c38d6a4715ef73.jpg

1 win from our first 10 league games had me fearing this was going to be a very long and tough season. Up until Christmas we really struggled, but after the winter break, something clicked and we started to pick up form and results. We avoided relegation comfortably, and if we can carry on our end of season form, we should be pushing for a top 10 place next season, without really challenging the upper positions of the table. Next season will be our 3rd in Serie B and I dont think we are anywhere near ready to challenge for promotion.

Transfers

20190622112216_1.thumb.jpg.6417504ff3020ea2a8936ff7027ed52a.jpg

A busy season saw us lose alot of first team players as mentioned in a previous post. We sealed loan back deals for Dani 23c and Giovannelli 23a, and they will both be staying with us for another season.

Playing Squad

20190622112332_1.thumb.jpg.660ff4e481e7f615f3e508ae4c1fe4bd.jpg      20190622110720_1.thumb.jpg.fc4053191a6d31e1d75d7d7a6adfeb02.jpg     20190622113039_1.thumb.jpg.8d1f42cd47b5c3655a308d1f87e0831e.jpg

Another solid season of progression. Selva 21c hit 11 goals compared to last seasons 6 and I think next season he will get even more. Volpinari 23b made the cm position his own towards the end of the campaign and looks an important part of our future. Player of the season Gleiss 20b is the man who impressed most. He has always been highly rated potential wise, and started to really impress towards the end of last season, he has kept that up this season and become maybe our key man.

Youth Development

20190622010803_1.thumb.jpg.43cfd5a8892d83206de16aa6cad0cb28.jpg      20190622010758_1.thumb.jpg.62c2b94ba0bff5ec3de57ce20da23d47.jpg      20190622010755_1.thumb.jpg.74a9094b8efb2db9af501bd2db9f5a43.jpg

A decent intake but without any real depth. The only players signed were shown and tagged, and the plus side is 2 5* PA Sammarinese kids, GK and CB are positions the national side are screaming out for so hopefully these two can help us there.

Finances and Facilities

20190622112343_1.thumb.jpg.b34ad2562bd72b0611f38a441e9be1aa.jpg      20190622112347_1.thumb.jpg.6c36d5a5509d7942960d4ee86f979fc7.jpg

We are still in a poor position financially, and this wont change until we can get ourselves promoted, which is not going to be anytime soon. This goes hand in hand with the lack of progress facilities wise.

Next Season

If we can carry our post Christmas form into the new season we should be able to push for a top 10 finish. The aim is always going to be stay up though so that would be enough to keep me happy.

SS Virtus Season Review 2026/27

Competitions

20190622140730_1.thumb.jpg.687f4761c39858dedf42c9f5bcb822d5.jpg     20190622140640_1.thumb.jpg.3eda9c7c02fed20ec339afce281853ae.jpg     20190622140634_1.thumb.jpg.91261a54c4cca8980111cf520c8132e2.jpg     20190622140716_1.thumb.jpg.97cdc4560761373900f8ff324d3cd809.jpg

After a very strong European run where we almost made the EL group stages, we was heavy favourites for the 3 domestic comps, and we lived up to that billing. A clean sweep, we lost 1 game in all season to Tre Penne.

Transfers

20190622140808_1.thumb.jpg.2961f9a482fd98438cb0d1f98406581d.jpg

Nothing major, Nanni was excellent on loan again.  Muccioli failed to make the grade at SMC but has been immense for us after he was brought in to replace Piraz 21c who was allowed to go the other way after outgrowing us, even if he has failed to really impress at the higher standard of football.

Playing Squad

20190622140609_1.thumb.jpg.6d9ef5a39f9342a6e34866b582ab9cdf.jpg      20190622115323_1.thumb.jpg.b53d00bfa01836fd528639ba4bc532f8.jpg

By far the strongest team in the division, and one that could potentially qualify for the group stages. We beat Sheriff Tiraspol in the CL 1st Rnd Qualifiers last season, and they somehow got to the EL group stages, so we are good enough. Player of the season Raschi hit 25 assists and Berti 23b hit 36 goals taking his tally to 107 goals in 136 games, being only 20 ears old, he could score a serous amount of goals for us.

Youth Development

20190622004930_1.thumb.jpg.72d0fd9c3b0e892b5733b7194e62d458.jpg         20190621172500_1.thumb.jpg.ce199a97fbb30950e43b2c821e436f54.jpg     20190622142410_1.thumb.jpg.a7c9dda3076d033387379c94d933693a.jpg     20190622142413_1.thumb.jpg.daada0b4822a510cd352134218ee3916.jpg

As the general quality of our squad gets better, the depth of the intakes gets worse. Thats is to be expected as we have some real quality players in our team, so not every youth player will be good enough to get to that standard etc. this season we have 2 stand out players, both strikers unfortunately, and this isnt a position we really need. Rastelli 27a however looks so much better than his current rating. He is easily one of the better strikers we have available for the national side and will be getting capped asap. The other player shown De luigi 27b will be trained as a Cam, his passing needs alot of work but we will see what we can do.

Facilities and Finances

Another strong showing, and we have the money for another couple of upgrades but I would really rather turn pro first.

Next Season

A repeat of this year would be nice, and maybe even go the whole season without losing a game. The main aim now though is to get into a EL group stage.

Enhancing Reputation

Last seasons strong showing in Europe has had a massive effect on the leagues rep/ranking. We have jumped up 28 places to 170th on the competitions ranking. And also jumped up spots on the European Coefficients Ranking to 47th. With this, our teams enter the Fist Qualifying Round rather than the prelims. In the opening post I mentioned why I decided to start this save again, and the below screenshots have validated this for me. First season we received £40k in tv rights I think.  For the 2026/27 season it was £57k and for next season it has almost doubled to £109k. The last two seasons have been the only 2 where we have moved up the coefficient rankings so I am guessing this is linked to TV money.

Champions League Prelims and 1st Qualifying Rnd

20190622224424_1.thumb.jpg.b95c7fc78f87339b4c827a0658cc9d4e.jpg

Wins against Santa Colona of Andorra and Qormi of Malta are expected now, but I was disappointed to draw Irish Champions Shamrock in the 1st Qualifying Rnd. A tough draw was made all the harder by a 1-0 away loss. The second leg was a brilliant game, we went 4-0 up inside 32 minutes, and although they pulled 2 back, we done enough to squeeze through 4-3 on aggregate. Thats as far as we go in the Champions League this season though, as we have been drawn against Danish Champions Kobenhavn in the b 2nd QF Rnd

CL 2nd Qualifying Round

20190622231540_1.thumb.jpg.a02ad847c6e596a111078b1af76a3c90.jpg20190622232105_1.thumb.jpg.946f8d21629927053f9f2e1591979076.jpg

We was always going to lose this tie, but to do so 7-1 over the two legs is disappointing and shows just how far away from a serious level we are. We have banked just over £1.1m so far though and with at least 1 EL tie to come, against Zrinjski Monstar of Bosnia, we should bank a little bit more yet.

EL 3rd Qualifying Round

20190623000224_1.thumb.jpg.bb17807d93ba4c084d1929e46a7b90fa.jpg

This was always going to be a tough tie, and after a solid 0-0 draw at home, I knew just one goal could put us through in the away tie. We just couldnt score, and went out 1-0. Some brilliant news has come of our consistent performances in Europe, we are turning Pro next season.

San Marino National Team Update

2027

EURO 2028 Qualification Group F

20190626204239_1.thumb.jpg.3b328cfca716a8cd76c79139d2164d5f.jpg      20190626204254_1.thumb.jpg.fea44c8d263f7a6ba2139098313e606f.jpg

This was quite a generous group when you consider there was no real heavyweight in it, but I still expected to come bottom so to finish 4th was a bonus. 5 points is better than the 2 points we got 4 years ago.

EURO 2028 Play Offs

20190626204535_1.thumb.jpg.e9b0e5f6a07ff2c5d85e040c70808eee.jpg     20190626204543_1.thumb.jpg.cf597a05bcb650775d8da2d611d189df.jpg      20190625163541_1.thumb.jpg.54ed713ea8c6d6f85e24aae6e4bbd030.jpg

Due to topping our Nations League Group last year, we earned a EURO 2028 Play off spot. Our first game, the Semi Final was against Armenia and we dominated, and deservedly won 2-0. Onto the final and we faced a Cyprus side ranked 104th in the world and possessing some decent players. It was a real end to end game and could have gone either way, but we managed to seal a 3-2 victory and earned the Nations first ever spot at a major finals. I highly doubt we will even get a point, England and Switzerland are going to be too strong for us to even really compete with and Georgia are ranked 66th so I dont expect to get much from that game either.

SS Virtus Season Review 2027/28

Competitions

20190627001614_1.thumb.jpg.a047880d1aff555065df133e23e2f551.jpg

League

20190627001631_1.thumb.jpg.92c301480709b70863ff41a19831e1ae.jpg     20190627001640_1.thumb.jpg.5573fa1197f464a0faab6ea87f6c7f69.jpg     20190627001645_1.thumb.jpg.81166fc26057772742547fdf21b677c4.jpg

We finally managed to finish the league season unbeaten, and have now lost only 2 league matches in 3 seasons. This is our 5th league title and puts us just behind Tre Flori for most domestic title wins.

Coppa Titano

20190627004757_1.thumb.jpg.bc4a5e7f42fba24cda657793f8374ed0.jpg

Another cup win as we enforce our domestic dominance. That is also our 5th cup win and puts us behind AC Libertas total of 11.

Europe

See a couple of posts up.

Transfers

20190627002427_1.thumb.jpg.07ed17056a87ae7f831b13635d92fe1c.jpg

Anyone who left was merely a back up option or someone languishing in the background of the club. The players brought in basically replaced them and haven't featured much.

Playing Squad

Another solid year for what is a really good squad at this level. Our three key men were Berti 23b, Censoni 20a and Valentini 23d. Berti didnt hit the heights of last season but his goals were still vital. Censoni had a crazy season, scoring 20 goals from his central midfield berth. Valentini was a monster at the back and is getting better each season.

Youth Development

20190623224707_1.thumb.jpg.c233833118afa75cdc7378957f87df54.jpg     20190627001527_1.thumb.jpg.d9778bcebf3c440de3376528c9aab06b.jpg      20190627001520_1.thumb.jpg.4d5104e98bf39c4e78d74d842dc04f1e.jpg

The depth was again really poor but we have signed every shown and tagged. The best 2 Florini 28a and Muccioli 28b both look ready to play a part next season with Muccioli looking like he is going to be a great Goalkeeper for this level. The U19's won the double for the second season in a row, and have now won the last 5 league titles.

Facilities and Finances

20190627003002_1.thumb.jpg.7d1529708aa5464e2f72071e1a486cde.jpg     20190627003000_1.thumb.jpg.a54e64e7528c6c819abd868070dcf636.jpg

Our European runs are doing the club really well and we havent had to worry about money for some time now. Turning pro next season is going to change this though, but I am going to try and manage it the best I can, only offering full time contracts to the best players and best youth products. We also have upgrades ongoing to the Training and Youth Training facilities. This, along with going full time should help our players to push on and become even stronger.

Next Season

Another clean sweep domestically and to hopefully get to the Europa League group stages.

San Marino Calcio Season Review 2027/28

Competitions

20190627010652_1.thumb.jpg.51df9276e3e9789ad608a869bcc00c48.jpg     20190627010732_1.thumb.jpg.4d8ee81cf380980679ba0e21276b7bbd.jpg

Another frustrating season at this level. We started really well and were as high as 5th going into December, but just 3 wins and 7 draws from our last 22 games meant we ended up in a relegation battle that went down until the last day.  In the cup we again lost in the 3rd qualifying round.

Transfers

20190627010222_1.thumb.jpg.e524bdd3ddb7ef3bd34a34b75c8a49be.jpg

I loaned out lot of fringe players, for the obvious reason of them getting first team football and to save some money on wages. I am hoping some have done well enough to attract a bid or 2.

Playing Squad

20190627010215_1.thumb.jpg.2688f2043f6dfbbc3d3064633659ef17.jpg     20190627002248_1.thumb.jpg.ed5d99dcc352f7e57865aaf329e40362.jpg     20190627010858_1.thumb.jpg.504a6c7f7fc5ac128a6ba65659124f8b.jpg     20190627010803_1.thumb.jpg.e70fa3f1271af15a37ffb3d32275c140.jpg

A disappointing season from a squad that I keep thinking is ready to kick on and do something special. Pachera 21b was player of the season and I would ideally move him on this summer for a decent fee but interest in him seems to have dried up. The other player shown is Casali 27a who had a breakthrough season this year and looks like he could go on to be the best defender we have produced so far. This has been an area of concern for the last few seasons, and he should solve that for us in the long term. What we lacked this season was goals, we had plenty of the ball and topped the league for possession and passes made but were joint bottom for goals scored, netting just 30 in 36 games.

Youth Development

20190623235037_1.thumb.jpg.5b37bd3a8e816c13e6eb566cb7d88a80.jpg     20190627010940_1.thumb.jpg.79202baf0eb03e1c9b53063615552c72.jpg     20190627010933_1.thumb.jpg.c905a07a7c0479d32237026374b76af6.jpg

Can never really complain about a 5* potential Sammarinese player but Rosti 28a is again a CM and this is a position where we are strongest. The other player shown Zonzini 28b looks as if he could develop into a talented winger and thats a position where we need options.

Finances and Facilities

20190627010232_1.thumb.jpg.a872077d2706079d7bc971e3b82e7750.jpg     20190627010225_1.thumb.jpg.02aef755c4f98629616cfd2b1708354c.jpg

-£2m in the bank is not promising, and we need some income badly. Player sales is going to be the only way but I cant see us selling anyone for anywhere near 2m at the moment. We are within the boards set budgets though so I am not too worried about it.

Next Season

I keep saying we need to push on and try get into the top ten and thats going to be my initial aim, but just an improvement on this season will do as we are clearly a long way away from the top teams in this division.

Campionato Sammarinese 10 Year Review

20190627032025_1.thumb.jpg.0979365d2c6602d0f48c0e5b253d801f.jpg     20190627032014_1.thumb.jpg.9c3de3409ffce8e99bb36e4adf4be922.jpg     20190627030422_1.thumb.jpg.aabf3ca38db9164f2ea4aa4d6252feb6.jpg     20190627030418_1.thumb.jpg.0d475790590e08686a46fdc8ead4a89c.jpg

It has been 10 years since we started the save and I thought now would be a good time to have a look into the progress made by the domestic division. We started ranked 198th in Europe and now sit 154th. In the Coefficients table we are up to 45th. The yearly TV Income is rising and doubled for the upcoming season to £186k. Even after turning pro and handing out contracts to the majority of our players, our wage bill is £4k a week which equates to roughly £208k a year. So the tv money is now almost covering our wage bill.

Infrastructure

Sadly it seems very little progress has been made behind the scenes by almost all the other clubs. We have focused heavily on upgrading every thing we can as soon as possible, but with only Tre Fiori and Fiorentino having better than poor facilities and below average youth recruitment, we are yet to see any other team really develop any decent HG players.

20190627033332_1.thumb.jpg.a5f2c8e5b405baa4719f7382f9357d96.jpg

Stadium wise AC Juvenes/Dogana moved into a 2453 capacity stadium in 2024 and are averaging around 600 fans at home games. SS Cosmos are moving into a 2903 capacity stadium in 2030. No other teams have moved as yet but we need to start thinking about it, we sell out every home game so I am hoping once we have the funds, we can get the ball rolling. A group stage run in Europe would help massively with this aim.

Other Teams in Europe

Looking through the history there has been very little if any success in Europe. Tre Penne have won 2 games but both have been 2nd legs in which they have still gone out due to the 1st leg result. Other than that there has been 0 wins.

EURO 2028

As expected, 3 games played and 3 games lost. However, we didn't disgrace ourselves, the 2-0 loss to Switzerland  was quite a close game in which we had chances to score a couple of games and at take a point. The 3-0 loss to England could have been so much more, but somehow the GK kept the score down to a reasonable amount. The Georgia game was a disappointment. We dominated for large spells of the match but just couldn't find a way to score. With 3 teams going through, it made the result even worse. Overall we did as well as we could have hoped to realistically and we will be back, maybe not next time, but with a few years development and a couple more players coming through the ranks, we should be aiming to start at least challenging for qualification.

Cheers mate. We kinda snuck in via the Nations League route so does feel almost like a diluted achievement. We are still a long way off qualifying via the traditional route.

SS Virtus European Adevnture 2028/29

Its taken us 10 seasons, but we have finally made the group stage of the Europa League. This is a huge moment for the club, our first ever foray into Europe is going to be a tough one, and I am not expecting to win any games realistically. But we have banked £2.62m for qualifying and £3.8m so far from our run, this should increase alot by the time we finish our 6 group games.

Europa League Group E

20190627174046_1.thumb.jpg.b8cff4e8e4926618e11676d8cb2d5cb5.jpg

This is an interesting but difficult group. It could have been harder, but I am also sure it could have been kinder. Valencia will be by far the biggest side we have ever faced to date and a trip to the Mestalla will be a fantastic evening. Kobenhaven and Videoton we have already faced in Qualifiers in previous seasons, losing to Kobenhaven 7-1 in 2027 and to Videoton 6-2 in 2023. I think the only chance we have of picking up points will maybe be Videoton but even that is going to be tough.
