PaulHartman71
A tricky group, with the recent European champions RB Salzburg, Spanish giants Valencia and then Trabsonzpor of Turkey. I think we could maybe sneak 3rd and get back into Europa, as I'm not sure how good Trabzonspor will be.
PaulHartman71
A huge moment for Vaduz, as by getting past Spartak Moscow and Sevilla they have qualified for the Europa League Group Stage for the first time in their history, failing all of the 69 times they had previously attempted to do so in this save. PaulHartman71
Mid-Season Update Swiss Cup A good run in the Swiss Cup so far again, including a tough tie against Sion. Super League A slow start to the season, with 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss in our opening few months. With the European games coming in thick and fast our league form dipped, with no wins from our next 5, 3 draws and a loss. We got back into some decent form, winning 3 of our next 4 matches, drawing the other to European rivals Sion. A strong end to the calendar year, with 4 wins from 4! I think we over achieved to get 2nd last season and it will be a big ask to do it again, but we're still right up there and actually only 5 points off of the title! That's a pipe dream though and I'd be happy with anywhere in the Top 5, but hoping we can push for 2nd. Champions League An interesting trip to Trabzonspor in Turkey, where we very nearly came away with a vital 3 points. They got a last minute equaliser which was gutting. We pulled a big win out of the bag by beating Valencia 2-0. I didn't expect to get anything out of our double header against RB Salzburg and we certainly didn't get anything... Wolfgang Beltau gave us an early lead against Trabzonspor, but they got another late equaliser to prevent us getting the win. We lost our return game in Valencia. All in all a decent group stage, probably about the best I could have hoped for. We're pleased to go back into the Europa League at least. Possibly one of the hardest ties of the round as we get Celtic, who of course won the Champions League just 4 years ago.

PaulHartman71
I moaned about the last couple of Youth Intakes but this one actually looks quite good. Raffael Hemi looks like a decent right winger. Erich de Donno loks like an exciting CAM option. Asa Petreski though is the stand-out talent. The left winger, born in Macedonia, should hopefully have a big future at the club. I have also set up a feeder affiliate with Austrian 2nd tier side LASK to take advantage of their youth system, loan players out to etc. We didn't get any Austrian players in this intake but will keep an eye on it for the next few seasons.
PaulHartman71
End of Season Update Europa League A disappointing result over two legs, but it was a tough tie and it was always going to be a challenge to compete with a side as good as Celtic. Super League We kicked off 2089 in good form, with 3 wins from our first 3, before a tough loss in Basel and then a draw against Sion. Not the best run in our next 5 games, which saw just 1 win from 5. April saw us pick up a bit with 3 wins from our next 4 games. A decent enough end to the season. We ended up 3rd, which over the course of the season is probably fair. Only 8 points off Basel though which is an improvement. Disappointing to not stay in the Champions League, but we did over-achieve a little to make it there last season anyway so no harm done except to the financials a bit. Also have to laugh at 80 percent of the league qualifying for Europe Swiss Cup A good run to yet another cup final, with a huge win against a strong Basel side in the Semis. An impressive performance against Lugano, who finished above us in 2nd in the league, as we win the Swiss Cup for the second year running. I'm pleasantly surprised as for the last few countries I've not often done all that well in the cups, often bottling finals or whatever, so to win 2 in a row and make 3 finals in a row is really good going. Enrique Latorre at CB probably our best player. Another strong year for Lovro in goal. We may struggle to hang onto him this summer, seems like only a matter of time before he gets a big move. PaulHartman71
It's yet another final for Red Bull, but their boys come up short in the final this time, with Marseille getting the victory and their 4th European crown, their first for 19 years. Besiktas doing well again to make the Semi, knocking out fellow Turkish side Galatasaray in the Quarter Finals. A huge performance from Rapid Vienna who somehow joined RB Salzburg in the last 16. Real Madrid win a star studded Europa League. Good runs from Slavia Prague, Hajduk and FH of Iceland, who I believe made the Last 16 last year too. PaulHartman71
No real problems for Salzburg as they dominate their way to another league title in Austria. A 2nd straight win for Shakhtar, with nobody near them. Lviv get another 2nd spot and another crack in the Champions League. A strong year for Hajduk finishing on 83 points, but Dinamo Zagreb still dominating it with 94 points and their 60th league title in a row.
PaulHartman71
Lugano maybe could've got past Club Brugge I guess. Servette aren't brilliant so I guess it makes sense Ludogorets got past them as I think they're probably one of the best sides in Bulgaria. Vaduz of course not representing us but finished bottom of their first ever group with Sevilla, Hajduk and Kayserispor. St. Gallen did alright but went out of the Europa League to Lyon, with Basel knocked out of the Champions League by Besiktas.
PaulHartman71
Some crazy stuff happening in Liechtenstein this summer To get the season in review graphic I have to do that part of the EOS update a little into next season, so when I pulled up Vaduz to see who they had in their Europa League group I noticed that they weren't in the Europa League this season (already in September atm). I couldn't work out what had happened at all. I thought maybe they somehow lost to Cup but they won that, so I thought maybe there was some weird bug where if they make the Europa League Group Stage it causes some problems. They're also pretty high up in the overall rankings despite only having Vaduz in Europe at any one time, so again I thought maybe this caused some issues for the game. But it turns out there's a simpler explanation... Well it turns out they've failed UEFA fair play regulations and that's why they're not in it I have no idea how they've managed that though. You'll see at the bottom Lorenzo Buhler getting made club captain in the summer of 85, well it was January of 86 when I signed him for Besiktas for £57M on our way to becoming European champions. So how on earth they've gone from that to failing FFP in 3 and a half years I don't know. Looks like they upgraded their training and youth facilities which you'd think would be a smart move, then had a new chairman come in, maybe he's messed it all up. They've not particularly hammered money away since the Buhler sale either. In 2086/77 they had £19.25M In and £2M out, in 2087/88 they had £24.5M In and £8M Out, then last year £17.5M In and £11.5M Out, so only a Net spend of £35/40M spread across 3 years, roughly £12/13M a year which isn't horrendous considering they made the Europa League group stages last year. I guess if they're caning it on wages too then that could be an issue. They've not gone in administration yet though so hopefully they can bounce back in Europe soon. On the subject of Europe this meant a surprise appearance for another team in Liechtenstein, as of course, someone had to compete in Europe. That someone turned out to be USV Eschen/Mauren. A semi-pro side who seem to compete in Switzerland in the lower leagues. Not too many would've fancied them but against all odds they actually got through the 1st Qualifying Round, beating Cardiff Met 5-0 on aggregate They were soon knocked out in the next round by Differdange of Luxembourg, but what a story

PaulHartman71
1 hour ago, Number seven said: I've said it before and I say ut again, this is the best career thread ever. BTW are you close to going to Norway? If so please make Tromsø IL Champions League winners. Thanks! I'm not too sure about Norway yet, although they seem to be doing reasonably well in the list of nations I've not hit yet. I'd quite like to have a block of the save where I solely hit the Nordic/Scandinavian countries all in one go type thing. I think I will probably hit Croatia or Austria next, unless the Shakhtar job comes up in the mean-time. Czech Republic is most likely to be the next country I add as Sparta Prague seem to be doing pretty alright from what I've seen, but other than Czech Republic I think Denmark/Norway are probably the countries it makes sense to add after that in terms of strength, so in terms of leagues getting added I may then go for something like: Denmark > Norway > Sweden > Iceland > Finland As it would be quite cool to hit all of those countries in one block as I don't remember ever managing in any of them, or if I have it can't have been for too long as I don't have any strong memories of it. Rosenborg and Molde seem to be dominating in Norway at the moment, so it would be cool to take over at a different side to create a new "big" dominant force in the country. Tromso I'm sure could be an interesting option, looks like they got 3rd a few years back too.
Number seven
Rosenborg and Molde are the big hitters so I'm not suprized they are dominate. Tromsø is from above the artic circle so winning the Champions League with them would be some achievement, but if you go with another team please stay clear of Bodø/Glimt... We don't like them and they are doing too well IRL.

PaulHartman71
Summer Transfers The young German left winger Wolfgang Beltau had been attracting Bundesliga interest for a while, so it was only a matter of time before someone enacted his £25M release clause. It was Bayern Munich who did it in the end this summer. We also lost our Croatian keeper to St. Mirren, another departure that had been somewhat inevitable for a little while. Fabian Adjei left for PSV in a move for just over £10M. The weird window thing meant I also lost Flavien Perrin, a rotation midfield option, for £11M in March to Sion. Obviously couldn't replace him at the time and he didn't play a single game for Sion as they couldn't register him. Midfield was mainly where we put the bigger money in: We signed Ciobanu and Agustin Ruiz for a combined £18M, with the former coming from the Romanian league and the latter joining from Zaragoza in Spain. They both look pretty damn good for what we paid. Gustav Gronner joins from Norwegian side Brann for £7M to replace Wolfgang. He's not quite as good as the German was and I'm not sure if he will get there either, but he was the best/most affordable option that we had available to us. Connor Rogers joins from Championship side Watford to reinforce our defence. Not a particularly exciting signing, but he could make the difference at the back. Mark Prasnikar, our Slovenian striker, didn't have a great season last year really. With 22 goals in 48 starts I thought it was time to upgrade and try and find someone who could get us 25-30 a season. I picked up this lad from Getafe where he struggled to get a game last year. The season before that he hit 15 in La Liga with a relegated Real Hispalis, so I thought he was worth a punt. Well Getafe might have been onto something in not playing him as I'm halfway through the season and in 8 starts and 6 sub appearances he hasn't scored a single goal in the league yet The cheapest signing of them all saw us replace our keeper with this guy who was Benfica's 2nd choice keeper. In 7 years there he only started 21 games, so he's a bit inexperienced, but he's got his chance to be a #1 with us either way.
PaulHartman71
Due to the Swiss coefficient being quite strong now we no longer have to bother with Europa League qualifiers when we finish 3rd in the league, as we have an automatic place in the Group Stage. We got SKN St. Polten of Austria, Dundalk of Ireland and FC Groningen of Holland. To be fair you probably couldn't get a kinder group than that if you bribed UEFA.
PaulHartman71
Mid-Season Update Swiss Cup Disaster in the Swiss Cup as we crash out to 2nd tier side FC Thun. 2 straight wins and 3 finals and I got a bit cocky rotating a bit too much. Super League A solid start to the season, with 4 wins from our first 5, including a mental 6-1 thrashing of Sion which came out of nowhere. We picked up two losses in September on the bounce to Servette and Lugano, before randomly smashing champions Basel in a crazy 5-1 win, before picking up another win away in Lichtenstein. Excellent form as we headed into winter, with 4 wins from our next 5 games. Another big win over Basel as we've now beat them home and away in the league. Excellent stuff so far in the league. Beating them home and away means we're just 3 points and goal difference off the title at the halfway stage, 9 points ahead of Lugano in 3rd so CL spot in a good position. Europa League A decent result away in Holland with a 0-0 draw. We beat SKN St Polten 2-0 in the home match against them. Not a great performance in Dundalk, but a late Prasnikar goal gave us a big win. Better in the return home leg against Dundalk, with a 2-0 victory. Another draw in the home match with Groningen. A loss in Austria although we had already qualified. We go through top of the group so happy days. Nurnberg in the next round, not too sure what to expect with them. Think we might be able to do them.
PaulHartman71
January Window Out We lost left back Jacobo Barrosso to old side Zenit for £24.5M, with some clauses and extras. For a left back you can't knock it. Not a bad return on someone I signed for £350K from Atletico Madrid's B team 3 and a half years ago In He's replaced by 24 year old Jordan Brown, plucked out of the Championship where he was playing for Bristol City. PaulHartman71
Another relatively decent youth-intake. Yannick Gerber looks like he could be alright, although not the best personality at the moment. Christopher Chevalier on the other hand looks the most promising of the intake and my coaches seem to think he has pretty decent potential.
PaulHartman71
End of Season Update Europa League A close run thing, but we just did enough over the two legs to get past the German side. The last 16 saw a huge all-Swiss match as we got our rivals for the Swiss title Basel. Mark Prasnikar's goal gave us a massive win in the first leg. A disaster class in the return leg. We were 2-0 down at half-time, which wasn't the end of the world as an away goal would've still seen us through. But we just couldn't get it. We got done on the counter a few times trying to get back in the game and Basel deserved to go through in the end. Super League A solid enough start to the 2090 decade, with 3 wins and 2 draws. 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, the main issue was that 1 loss was to Basel in a crucial title 6 pointer. We picked up some good form here, with 3 wins, including a mad one against Sion where Prasnikar got 4, then a draw with St. Gallen and a loss to Xamax. Now ordinarily you might think a loss to a newly promoted Xamax wasn't that great, but they're one to watch out for now. A Swedish tycoon took over them out of nowhere in January and immediately started throwing money about like it was going out of fashion. They're not messing about. In the space of 3 weeks they bought 12 players from 3 different continents, for a combined £35M! They had like no out goings, so £35M net spend for a club not even in Europe in Switzerland is nuts. I think the highest net spend we've managed was £15M the year we made the Champions League Group Stage. So if this Swedish fella is carrying on with this next season Xamax could become a real problem and are the last thing we need! But anyway back to the league and we beat Servette 4-2, before losing our last two games 1-0 to Lugano and obvious eventual champions Basel. It was actually closer than it looks and if we'd won against Basel and drew our game against Lugano then we would have won the title on goal difference, which shows how close it was. Xamax get Europa League so may be able to attract a fair amount of good players if the Swedish guy is on another mad one this summer. I signed Juan Pedro Flores as I thought he could be the 25-30 goal a season guy that Prasnikar could be, well obviously Flores ended the season with just 3 goals, but it seemed signing a replacement spurned Prasnikar on massively, as he turned into that striker himself. 31 goals and 4 assists in 35 starts, in what was an incredible campaign for him. 27 goals in 31 games in the league was nuts and also the all-time record according to the game. Not bad going! Connor Rogers came in at CB and put in a very solid first season performance in Switzerland. Agustin Ruiz very good in midfield. PaulHartman71
Besiktas pull off a huge win, as they get their 2nd ever Champions League win, yet again on penalties. What made it all the more sweet was that it was at the Santiago Bernabeu, so Real Madrid were heavy favorites. Pastrana, 'Del Boy' Derrick Winder and Martin Crausaz all from my champions scored pens, with Juan Bayon in goal the hero once more making a few saves. Rodney, Cem Kaya, Pedro Moreno and Fabio Luiz all my former players too and they even have a Brazilian defender called Zidane, pretty fitting that he put in a man of the match display against Real Madrid at the Bernabeau to win the Champions League! RB Salzburg had another good run making the Semi Final before bowing out to Real Madrid. Basel eventually made the final after an impressive run which included taking PSG's scalp, but they lost in the final to an underdog Rapid Vienna side who picked up an absolutely huge win for them and Austrian football in general, with another European trophy win. Dinamo Zagreb doing well to reach the last 8, with Sparta Prague only a penalty shoot-out away from a Semi Final.
PaulHartman71
RB Salzburg win yet again, with Rapid Vienna 9 points behind them in the end. A Shakhtar-Lviv 1-2 finish for the 3rd time in 4 years, although to be honest Lviv only just getting that Champions League spot in the end. A familiar sight in Croatia as Dinamo Zagreb once again run rabid, with Hajduk a distant 2nd but also distant on everyone else.
PaulHartman71
Youth Update I gave Ney 2 starts against lower league sides in the Swiss Cup, where he kept two clean-sheets. Other than that he had to make to do with U21 football this season. I'd like him to have a loan move really as his development seems to be stagnating a bit, but nobody is ever interested in him. He's at least got a couple of international U21 games for Switzerland. Erich De Donno got his debut for us in the Swiss Cup, and has then primarily played U21 games, with 8 goals and 4 assists in 16 games at that level. Not a bad return, he's also got 6 Swiss U21 caps with 1 goal there. He sprained his knee ligaments in May which is a bit of a set back, although I'm hoping I can get him a nice loan move next season. Hemmi not looking as promising really. 2 assists in 9 U21 games this season, primarily getting games in the U18s. He did get some U19 action for Switzerland at least. Petreski has looked alright, he got his debut in the Swiss Cup and has also played 10 games for the U21 side, with 1 assist.
PaulHartman71
Vaduz haven't failed UEFA's financial fair play this season, so they will be back in Europa League action next season.
PaulHartman71
Eschen/Mauren of course the left field completely random representative of Liechtenstein this year following Vaduz's poor financials/lawyers, which meant Eschen/Mauren got a trek in Europe. They made it past the 1st round, before bowing out to Luxembourg opposition. You can't really fault them considering they're a 3rd/4th tier side in Switzerland Lugano went out to Lyon in the Champions League, a pretty tough draw really. Sion went out to Bordeaux in the Europa League, can't really fault them for that and Servette got a tough draw against a decent Austrian side SKN St Polten who we know from our Group Stage games with them. Basel came 3rd in a Champions League group with Man United, RB Leipzig and Benfica, probably have to credit them with even coming 3rd and managing to then reach the final of the Europa League after knocking us out along the way. Lugano's Europa League group had Dortmund, Rangers and Bordeaux, a relatively tough draw and can't really knock them for that I guess. Recent years have been an absolute disaster for England, as they fall down to 7th in the rankings, below Scotland and now limited to just 2 clubs in the Champions League. Given the form that Austria are in it wouldn't be a surprise if they dropped to 8th next year, although that wouldn't really have many repercussions in terms of qualifying spots. Italy seemed to have dropped down a bit again, Roma had a brief revival and that seemed to prop them up a bit for a while, but with Ukraine, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Austria doing well in recent years they've gone right back down again. Despite Besiktas' Champions League win they look set to lose out on the 4th spot and the 4 CL group stage spots it brings next season to France. PaulHartman71
The one hiccup to England falling down the rankings is it means you get the likes of Chelsea in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. They were the better side in both games and we can't have too many complaints at going out. Hardcore readers may remember James Roberts-Burton as being a bright young Welsh winger I signed in my one season at Antalyaspor all those years ago. 104 caps and 25 goals for Wales later and in the twilight of his career he is playing in Britain again with Chelsea. Small world. We were 1st seeds in the Europa League Group Stage once again, and once again we've got a fairly decent group. I don't really recognise any of those sides as having made the business end of the knockout stages in the last few years, so I think we should get through it really. PaulHartman71
Summer Transfers Not a massively busy window in terms of ins or outs. I thought we'd survived the window without losing a key player, but on deadline day RB Leipzig met Agustin Ruiz's release clause for clubs in the Champions League. A shame to lose him just over a year after picking him up from Zaragoza for £8M, but obviously doubled our money on him so can't complain a great deal. I managed to get a nice loan deal for youngster Erich de Donno, hoping he can get some good minutes for St. Gallen this year. There wasn't a huge amount of value in the market and after renewing a lot of contracts we were only left with around £14-15M to spend. Prasnikar smashing the goals in last season made me think I could put off the striker situation for another season at least, so I went big on one player. A Swiss right winger from Vaduz who looks incredibly talented. He had interest from Basel and Dortmund so using the spare wage budget I had I made sure I offered him and his agent a significantly better deal than they wanted in order to hopefully out bid Basel and Dortmund. This thankfully worked as we landed our man. The only other signing I made was a midfield one to replace Agustin Ruiz. I didn't actually get £17M like for like when he left, as due to a 50 percent profit sell on clause (which I often throw in to get the price of signing players down) £4.5M went straight to his former club, then we only get about 80 percent of the fee to put back into new deals from the board, so I was only left with about £8-9M give or take for a new central midfielder. Scrambling to find someone you can afford and that's also decent on deadline day is obviously never fun and if the release clause wasn't there I probably would'be bit the bullet on Ruiz being annoyed and held off selling him until January. Daniel Fogh is good value for the £4.1M we paid for him from Kobenhavn, you can often seem to find good value in the Danish market, but upon arrival he's probably our 4th choice central midfielder rather than the 1st choice Ruiz was. Hopefully he has some room to improve.
PaulHartman71
As you can see above, for Swedish-tycoon bought Xamax it was a lightly more exciting window 9 more players came in, with a net spend of about £35M again. In the space of two windows they've spent like £70M on players Time will tell but they'll surely be more of a threat this season even if their strategy at the minute does seem to be throw everything at the wall and hope some of it sticks.
PaulHartman71
To put into perspective how much Xamax have blown in 2 windows, Basel, who are the biggest and most successful club in the country, have spent a combined £70M in the last 7 windows. And that's not even factoring in net spend. That's literally their entire combined incoming transfers for the last 3 seasons and this summer window
PaulHartman71
Oh also I had some interest from Wolfsburg and Bayern for youngster Asa Petreski. Despite just 1 lone Swiss Cup appearance to his name they were offering up to £15M in incentives etc to sign him! I was tempted to sell as I could've reinvested that money into the squad, but I thought I would hold off because if they're offering that much for him he'll probably turn out into a tidy player Might be able to double that in a few years if he makes more progress if they're offering that now at the start of his youth career at 17.
PaulHartman71
Mid-Season Update Swiss Cup A strong performance so far in the Swiss Cup to make up for the poor exit last year. We have Lugano in the Quarter Final. Super League We opened the season hosting champions Basel, who we held to a 2-2 draw. We then lost away to Servette in a poor performance, before 3 wins on the bounce to bounce back up the table. We beat tycoon-led Xamax, before winning against Thun and drawing in Liechtenstein, before losing away to Basel. We then beat Sion 3-1. We dropped points to Servette again, before 3 wins from our next 4 games, dropping points against Lugano. Right winger Jamie Thomas with a mad game against St. Gallen that saw him grab 4 goals. A disappointing loss in Thun, before beating Vaduz and Sion. We're right up there at the halfway stage, although Basel obviously in the driving seat and will take some doing to get ahead of them. Xamax in 5th, but perhaps not performing as well as you'd expect for a side who have spent £70M, although a good run of form could see them get up to 3rd I guess. Europa League A terrible start in Norway as we slump to a 3-2 loss to Rosenborg. Much better against Charleroi, as a Hendrick Thomas hat-trick helps us on the way to a 4-1 win. Another good win as we beat Steaua Bucharest 2-1. We beat them again in the return away leg in Romania, with Bruno Perreira grabbing a brace. A much better performance against Rosenborg at home, as we beat them 4-0. Charleroi lost 2-1 to us in our final game of the group. Top of the group no problem. Never in doubt! Austria Vienna in the 1st knockout round probably about as kind a draw we could get, so we have to be happy with that. Austrian sides of course been dangerous in recent years, but we were better than SKN St Polten when we last played them and it's only RB Salzburg and Rapid Vienna who have looked super strong in recent years,

PaulHartman71
Winter Window Out Alberto Ibanez, our captain, wanted out as he wasn't a starting CM anymore. Krasnodar offered the best deal so he's moved to Russia. We also sold 2nd choice CAM, David Soro, a decent back-up option but he wanted a new challenge and wasn't getting any younger. He joins Rangers. In I didn't replace Soro at CAM, instead I recalled youngster Erich de Donno from his loan at Sion as he looks decent enough to provide us cover there for now. I also dipped back into the ever reasonable Danish market to get international midfielder Martin Hansen in to replace Ibanez in CM.

PaulHartman71
A nice away trip to Austria Vienna, they gave us a little scare when they equalised and for a stretch looked the better side, but we got 2 more goals to make us more comfortable. Juan Pedro Flores' first half goal put it beyond any doubt. The Round of 16 sees a very interesting tie, as it's a return to where it all began, as we travel to play Arsenal. A bit of a weird one really as they've very much been absent from the business end of either European competition for more or less 50 years I'd say. Looks like they got dumped out the CL Group Stage about 7 years ago and were knocked out of the Europa League group stage last season, before a 6 year absence of European football full stop. They haven't reached a EL Quarter Final in 15 years, so let's hope we don't give them it
PaulHartman71
A fantastic result in the first leg, as we beat them 2-0 at our place. A decent result at the Emirates sees us in the Quarter Final for the first time under my tenure. PSG await us. They're not quite the side they once were, with Marseille more of the dominant French force as of late, but undeniably still a huge club that will be difficult to get past.
PaulHartman71
End of Season Update Swiss Cup An unfortunate exit in the Swiss Cup on penalties to Lugano in the Quarter Final. Europa League A good result in Paris, but would've been so much better if we'd held onto the win. Another penalty shoot-out exit, as we just miss out on the Semi Finals. Super League A massive win against Basel, as we start the new year in fine form, with 4 wins from 5. Our good run continued, including a nice 1-0 away win at the tycoon-led Xamax. A massive point against Basel in another big game for the title, with 3 other wins and a draw to Xamax. 12 from 12 as we end the title run-in in style. Incredible scenes in the Swiss Super League, as we come away somewhat surprise winners! Sion manage to get relegated and qualify for Europe due to winning the Swiss Cup, with Xamax just finishing 4th to ensure European football next season. Vaduz were in the relegation playoffs, and what a turnaround for them: They lost the first leg 3-1, but managed to get a 2-0 win on the night of the return leg thanks to Luzern going down to 10 men, with no away goals counting they went to extra-time, where Luzern obviously tired considerably, meaning Vaduz actually won 5-0 on the night to stay up in style! Bruno Perreira was unbelievable. 23 goals and 12 assists in 45 games for us this year, absolutely crazy numbers. We'll do well to hang onto him this summer as he's unplayable at times. Gustav Gronner the Norwegian winger had a good season too, with 22 assists and 5 goals in 42 appearances. He has a lot of interest this summer after an impressive season so he could be another one we struggle to keep.

PaulHartman71
A historic night for Atletico Madrid as they become only the 2nd European side to win 10 or more Champions League trophies. Real Madrid, their neighbours, are the other side, currently holding the record with 17, so Atletico still have some way to go to catch them. Their first victory for 10 years was secured by a shoot-out in Bucharest. PSG ended up making the final, but they got flattened by a rampant Galatasaray side who beat them 4-0. Dinamo Zagreb were a shoot-out away from the Semis.
PaulHartman71
As you can see in Austria, Rapid Vienna gave RB Salzburg somewhat of a scare and something to think about, but in the end the Red Bull outfit held onto their throne and won all of their last games to win it with 7 point gap in the end. 4 in a row for Shakhtar, with Karpaty Lviv someway behind in 2nd place. Another dominant performance from Dinamo Zagreb, who came painstakingly close to an invincible season, losing one game to Rijeka towards the end of the season. PaulHartman71
Youth Update Another year as my #2 for Ney. More stagnation really. 3 clean sheets in 3 cup games, and he got 1 in the league as our #1 had the flu, but other than that he just had the U21 games to keep himself busy. Really could do with a loan but have struggled to get interest for him just yet. Erich De Donno spent the first half of the season on loan at St. Gallen, where he got 1 assist in 12 games. I recalled him to be a squad player in the winter window, after which he made 6 appearances for us, with 1 assist. Just 1 year left on his contract and he doesn't want to renew, amid interest from Roma and Man City. I may be forced to sell if he won't renew as that's better than losing him for nothing. Some stat improvements for Raffael Hemmi, who managed 5 goals and 1 assist in 11 games at U21 level this season. Petreski also improving stats wise, with 4 assists in 11 games for the U21 team. Christopher Chevalier is another bright CAM prospect, but like with De Donno he has a lot of interest and we may lose him. Wolfsburg, Leipzig and Bayern all want him and he's also putting off a contract renewal. He got 2 goals and 3 assists for our U21 side, also featuring twice for the Swiss U21 team too. PaulHartman71
Vaduz unfortunate to get a tough tie against Standard Liege in the Europa League. Xamax went out to 2nd best Croatian side Hajduk, given how much money they've already spent you would've hoped they'd at least be making the Europa group stages. Basel knocked out of a CL group with Wolfsburg, Anderlecht and Rangers, not much they could've done there really, finishing bottom. Lugano went out of the Europa Group stages with a group of Benfica, Bordeaux and Hajduk, whilst Servette did a bit better but were dumped out by a strong Lyon side. A good few years for France sees them flying up to 2nd place, with the 4 auto CL spots that brings, with Turkey now down to 5th, whilst England are 6th. PaulHartman71
Gustav Gronner attracted some big bids and to be honest £28M seems pretty good money from him, so no complaints there. Mark Prasnikar after his sensational previous season spent most the season injured, so to get just under £10M for him at his age we have to be reasonably happy. de Donno wouldn't renew his contract so I had to let him go, City paid £10.75M for him in the end. Not bad for a guy who had barely played for us in the last year of his deal, albeit a very bright prospect. A shame for his career/Switzerland NT prospects as signing for City he'll likely rot in the reserves for 3-4 years, best hope is to get some loans back to the Swiss league. I did finally get a loan for Brazilian Swiss keeper Ney, who joins Austrian side SV Grodig for the season. The big money went on trying to replace Gustav Gronner, with Croatian prospect Josip Begonja signed for pretty big money really. He's not as good as the Norwegian right now, but the scouts think he has reasonably high potential. Decent record in the Croatian league last season with Hajduk, although he did twist his ankle early on in the season so we've not seen an awful lot of him yet. We needed a new striker so we've dipped back in to the Danish market, signing Valdemar Markfoged for just over £6M from Kobenhavn. We also need a bit more depth at CAM with De Donno going, so Kovacic joins from Servette. I've also signed prospect CB Marco Steiner from Luzern. Not an ideal draw in the Champions League, as 4th seeds we've got Besiktas, Man City and Roma
