RasenBallsport Leipzig e.V - Established 2009.

The most hated team in Germany due to their affiliation with Energy Drink Company Red Bull. Based in the city of Leipzig in the Saxony region of Germany, RB Leipzig have been making big waves in world Football for a number of years now. From their controversial birth in 2009 to their rise through the German Football Pyramid, the club find themselves competing with the biggest names in German Football. The club play their football in the aptly named Red Bull Arena which holds 42,558 fans when sold out.

Given their financial backing from Red Bull, the club could be one to go out and sign the best players in the world for the biggest prices, however Leipzig have done things different, instead of buying the now, they've been buying the future. Through their extensive club network with RB Salzburg and New York Red Bulls, Leipzig have developed a young squad of players into many of whom have not played for any of the 'big sides' in world football. Instead through their scouting network players have been welcomed into the RB Family, playing for RB Clubs before eventually moving onto RB Leipzig. It's a fascinating process however sadly is poorly replicated in Football Manger giving although their ties, each RB club works separately and for their own benefit rather than the benefit of the 'family'.

The Manager

German Icon Michael Ballack has now taken up the task of pushing Leipzig onto that next level. When interviewed by ESPN (IRL) Ballack was quoted as saying

Quote

"Every city would consider itself fortunate if a sponsor like RB came along and economically supported the local club.

"In addition, their outstanding work at youth level has created the basis for them to be competitive in the long term.

"The conditions in Leipzig are already ripe for the Champions League."

Given his Saxon routes, Ballack has decided to take up his first managerial role since retiring as a player in 2012.

Short Term Aims

  • Establish Leipzig as a continual top 4 side in Germany
  • Continue the Leipzig philosophy of scouting and identifying the best young talent available

Long Term Aims

  • Win the Bundesliga and overthrow Bayern as Germany's dominant team
  • Win the Champions League
  • Have a starting 11 comprising of Home Grown players

Return of RB Leipzig II

As Football Manager fails to integrate the willingness of RB teams to move players between the clubs, I have reintroduced RB Leipzig II and placed them back into the playable Regionalliga Nordost (4th tier) where they originally participated in the 16/17 season. This will allow me to develop players at the club without the need to send them out on loan in order to gain competitive experience. The aim will be to have the II Side promoted to the .3 Liga and allow for players to progress from U19s >II Side > First Team Squad without the need to go on loan to gain experience. This will be of particular use when developing foreign youngsters to establish home grown status at Leipzig.
