1. The Club
Welcome to my first save update on this forum
So far I am loving FM19, I have tried the game with a season in Hamburg, a short spell in Marseille and journeyman save that begun in Prague and took me to Zagreb. But I'm hoping this save with Paris FC will be my long term save now.
On my shortlist for this save it came down to 1860 Munich in Germany, Leones Negros in Mexico & Paris FC. I see a great challenge to try and overthrow PSG and are very hyped

FYI, to be ensure this is a long term save the first half of the season is already played and I'll make sure to update shortly

2. The Manager

I have seen some people play as former regen player from previous FM versions. I don't have that but hopefully someone from this save will be the main character in a FM20 career update!
But please meet Jules Dubois, born in Paris and hostile toward the Qatar project that is going on in the bigger Parisien club. High attributes in determination, motivating and level of discipline to ensure a high working unit. He also aim to evolve the facilities at the club.
He focuses a lot on youth, fitness, hard work & fast flowing football.

I choose to start with a coaching badge & past playing experience to match the club as I have no interest to start the battle with too low rep.

3. Long term goals & transfer policy

I have a few long term goal with this save that I aim to reach going forward
3.1 Win a competitive game against local rivals PSG
3.2 Finish above PSG in the domestic league
3.3 Produce a player for the French national team
3.4 Produce a Balon D'or winner

3.5 Only recruit players from the academy and players born in Paris, Seine St Denis, Haut de Seine & Val de Marne
3.6 DON'T SELL PLAYERS TO PSG

Petite_couronne_svg.thumb.png.39ca29950b095bcbe25ef9de99a917d4.png

4. The Squad
squad.thumb.PNG.b98faac99a7bbfd29276b4ee2d30150f.PNG

This is the current squad come the December break, we don't have the finances to bring anyone in but have terminated two back-up loans to save money.
At this point in the save we focus on attributes determination, work rate, decisions, anticipation, composure, stamina, pace & acceleration. Quite a few contracts are running out so expecting a large swift after the first season.

5. The Tactic

tactic.thumb.PNG.3bb5e35bbad613f0348f8c9fa058c183.PNG

This is the tactic that have been used from the pre-season up til the winter break. We score a lot of goals, especially on the break and are results are great. I can see the weak sport in defence, the left flank in particular. During matches have I changed the AP to both DLP, CM-S & BBM when we try and close & change a match. Both strikers are scoring plenty so far so good. The RB have been WB for most part but we we're were being beaten at the far post to easily so changed it to FB-S in December.

June - December 2018 - Jules Dubois - Paris FC

1843557524_preseason.thumb.PNG.7d235a3132cabc27dfe27831e8244b57.PNG

Focus for these months were to make sure the team cohesion & tactical familiarity were as high as possible so we booked as many friendlies possible against weaker opponents.
I see now that the September friendly is listed twice...

august.thumb.PNG.8e63e5bcd2f00c2b571ab8ac6eca712c.PNG

Jonathan Pitropia is close to the only player I knew from before and he was on fire playing as the inside forward. Shame to be knocked out from Coupe de la Ligue against FC Metz on penalties. Followed up with a draw against Béziers, the weakest team in the league. Our starting XI is reasonably strong but our overall squad lacks some depth.

september.thumb.PNG.0305586c07cc0b1a5073a7e359bc6b65.PNG

Only one win but the games are close. We were up 2-0 against local rivals Red Star men somehow managed to drop 2 points anyway. Shame! Edmond Akichi is starting to develop to one of mine favourite players in this team. Useful as both the defensive midfielder and a BBM when we want to beef up our midfield. Scores some freekicks aswell.

oktober.thumb.PNG.2c9634f4ba70bf47e7f4c965ad6b36e6.PNG

Two comfortable Ws and one clear loss against Auxerre. Dylan Saint-Louis is awarded with a new contract. Not born in Paris but I allowed myself to renew existing contracts. His value sky-rocketed after that and both Lens & Troyes are sniffing around.

november.thumb.PNG.502e99a65ba6305f56a5311d4f15cf1b.PNG

A perfect month! We are playing beautiful counter-attacking football. The 5-0 win against FC Lorient led to the sacking of Landreau. Sorry. And this month also featured a big game against Le Havre, we were first and they second but Adama Sarr killed that game early.

december.thumb.PNG.8536927b327b197078f347a3f05dcd2b.PNG

Shameful exist of the Coupe de France US Boulogne, we took the lead but somehow fell apart. But we finally beat Red Star! We had the lead twice before loanee Romain Perraud finished a the game with a wonderful freekick

1744667725_leaguedec.thumb.PNG.34b8c30ef7b4197ec1f3c40342beaad4.PNG

Ok, things have gone well. Almost too well actually. I aim to build this team with youngsters & signings born in Paris (or surrounding areas). But then again, we are bleeding money some perhaps we need to gain promotion.

January 2019 - Jules Dubois - Paris FC

1592825140_janfix.thumb.PNG.04e516a2338dea6bb17d4c766125722f.PNG

Captain Bong, the king of free-kick rebound secures the only win in this month against Stade Bretois. And we miss out against the weakest team in the competition, Béziers, again.
Not the best of months but perform as expected I guess.  Holding on to that top position though.

1363309187_janleaguetable.thumb.PNG.19eed3c5284517c8bdad2b78f5f97502.PNG

In January we also secure the signing of Mory Kone & Axel Bakoyako on free transfers. Both born in Paris of course.
Jonathan Pitropia signs for Eupen in Belgium at the of season.

First youth intake

First intake, not too good but given our average facilities, poor HOYD it feels OK. I have tried to replace Lacan as HOYD but with our wage budget we simply cannot attract anyone better than him.  With promotion in our hands we hope to change that for next season.

Adama Berthé seem to have a shot to be a decent goalkeeper but his height (5,9) can be quite problematic.

berthe.thumb.PNG.9260a5c4c08e419a2b91747a306c804a.PNGcosta.thumb.PNG.d0a946f31e6ed0870f3728509c93bada.PNG

Until now I havent touched mentoring on this save because (1) the lack of prospects and (2) the lack of good personalities within the squad. But gave it a go now. Still learning this but thought top priority should be to get rid of the personalities of Costa Berthé. Aim to have top three prospects in first team squad.

Not much really to add when looking at the scorelines this month. We play with confidence, score a lot and also managed to secure the first clean sheet since November :).
At this point I really can't see us miss out on playoffs at least.

However, I really appreciated the first goal (Sarr 11') in the game against Cháteauroux.

The goal make good use of our asymmetric form when Bougrine (AP) advances centrally before passing to Lopez (IF), who drops off and dragging their wing back out of position. As soon as Lopez drops off Perraud find the space and deliver a perfect cross to Sarr.

Well done lads :applause:

Always up for a good French Career!

Even though I usually prefer places like Clermont, St. Etienne, or Toulouse when I play in France.

I am playing as ASSE right now and have won the league twice from PSG in 9 seasons. It is hard when PSG can spend more on one player in a Transfer Window than my entire team payroll for the year. Even after modest success in the Champions League.

I have to scout for foreigners for the most part who I end up selling because the contract demands exceed teams ability to pay......plus anytime I build up a balance the board builds a new stadium or a takeover happens!

Ah, many thanks! I appreciate this, I will change the OP right away. I have almost no money to spend for scouting or transfers so I will focus on Paris, Seine St Denis, Haut de Seine & Val de Marne. But good to know I have areas for expansion :)
Again, thanks for pointing this out!

fix.thumb.PNG.515fc6bb290ffb35587a339fdbd85d84.PNG

Really lost some attacking potency with Perraud being injured. I have tried to re-train malagasy international Lalaina Nomenjanahary to be a wingback but he is not really cutting it. Need to bring someone in for left back next season. This month we even left a fixture without scoring. And then we did it again...

1186404871_Skrmklipp.thumb.PNG.dd35622430548814acb0c23e5efb9899.PNG

The win against Valenciennes secured the play-off spot and I played with the idea of live updating the game against Clermont Foot as we had the change to bag the league. Maybe I should have...

We pulled through and won it. Not sure if this is a good thing as I planned to spend a few seasons in Ligue 2 building our squad with youth players. But on the other hand, we hardly have any money so this might be essential for the future.
I just hope the board have patience with me if this proves to be to much of a challenge

Adama Sarr & Dylan Saint-Louis were amazing as the striker duo, scoring 20 & 17 goals. I have found myself switching to a classic 4-3-3 with a defensive midfielder and a mezzala instead of the AP to have more defensive stability + quicker counter attacks. Let's see if this is something worth exploring next year..

Red Star goes down a division, might be worth looking at the possibility to have them as a feeder club?

Are Red Star a Rival?

That is like ASSE turn all your rivals in lesser leagues into feeder clubs! Clermont, Grenoble, Annecy, etc.

That might be the goal for this career make PSG a feeder club!

I often end up with PSG rejects....and they often become mainstays in my starting 11. (Even though I try and have 2-3 homegrown players)

Off-season 2019

The injury of loanee Romain Perraud last year showed that we lacked depth at left back so we needed to sign a replacement. Yoann Etienne has been on our radar for quite some time, he spent last year on loan at Cercle Brugge from Monaco. For €200k + €150k in add-ons secured the deal. I think he is quite well-rounded and I like his mental stats even though his composure could be higher. As this transfer broke our record I'm expecting big things here!

Another prospect  on our shortlist is Antoine Bernede from the PSG academy. Given our transfer policy we need to keep eyes on the youth players from PSG. Even though we needed a back-up for belgian Sabir Bougrine, who holds the position as Advanced Playmaker, we didn't plan to make move for Bernede at this point. But when he handed a transfer request big clubs such as Manchester United & Roma came sniffing we decided to make a move as well. Offering a rotation squad status seem to have sealed it. Quite low determination from the start but hoping to improve that.

The squad DNA focus we lined out is under review at the moment since we are not really following it. We are forced to be opportunistic given our financial situation.

bernede.thumb.PNG.b6c3dc176db15c97f3d0fb2e10364780.PNG

We also sacked Mathieu Lacan and hired Olympic winner from 1984 Dominique Bijotat as our new Head of Youth Development. If they haven't changed it up to much the Resolute personality should generate some professionalism & determination to our youth intakes. Lacan had a fairly loyal personality and the personalities from his only youth intake was really really bad. Couldn't wait to kick him out.

I also signed a new contract myself. I had one year left and opted for a three-year extension of that deal. I am not too confident that we can stay up so stock-piling all security I can at this point.

contract.thumb.PNG.f57fbe5f1d05870b16645019714f3217.PNG

Expectations & squad for our first season in the top flight. This overview is missing Bernede as he wasn't signed at this point. I also made a few minor signing as well, such as Fumu-Tamuza & Calvin Haidara. Purely back-up signings for free. Mory Kone & Axel Bakayoko was finalised during last season but arrived now when their contracts ended. Said good-bye to brazilian Azevedo even though we had a option to buy. He scored some important goals, especially in the beginning of the season. But I think Bakayoko can fill his role quite well.

June - October 2019

The start of this season is nothing short of amazing. Only one loss and lots of wins. The media is talking about 40 points to stay up and we aim to hit that as early as possible.
We have continued with the asymmetric 4-4-2 and it suits our underdog status as teams tends to push up quite a bit leaving space for Dylan Saint-Louis. The increase in spectators have also stabilised our economy.
We are no longer bleeding money but still €2 million in debt. Hopefully some TV-money & prize money will take care of that in due time... Overspending the wage budget as well but will try and offload a few from an already slim squad in January.

What stands out from the first eleven games are of course Angers who sit on top of the league while PSG are just 3 points ahead of us. The adepts of Arsene Wenger, Theirry Henry & Patrick Viera, are both struggling in the beginning of this season...

Next up: The first game against the mighty PSG...

Paris Saint-Germain vs Paris FC

On the pre-game press conference I got the question on my view of all the foreign talent that currently sits in PSG. With the focus on local talent we have at Paris FC, I had to claim that the route PSG are taking are bad for French football. Didn't land well with Tuchel...

1849042488_foregintalent.thumb.PNG.63ac7db049259166a2aca899ee993aaf.PNG

We travel to a sold out Parc des Princes. We line up our usual formation & our trusted team selection.
Tuchel decided to field the high pressing 4-2-3-1 we know so well from his time at Dortmund.

matchup.thumb.PNG.d1e53fcc2e5d5a958783891fa23dc3ac.PNGmatchup2.thumb.PNG.53bf502bc5c19da1ff0a79d73d20c790.PNG

First half
5' 0-1! Adama Sarr manage to get ball in the net after a corner! The action from Keylor Navas was.... not good.

1854581119_Sarr1-0.thumb.gif.a3c09a434b9a408c95d850ddf2d7307f.gif

hlaftime.thumb.PNG.3082f5a734992627907be86cc3070440.PNG

No goals followed the early strike from Sarr. Rabiot had a ball in the net but the goal was disallowed because Cavani pushed Demaconnay. We go to half time ahead but heavily out of possession. We have had a few good opportunities on the break.
We were forced to one change when Yohann Etienne had to leave the game after approx 25 minuted due to injury. Karamoko replaces him.

Second half

PSG are continuing to press hard against us and it feels that they are getting closer to an equalising goal. Demaconnay keep us in the game so far. Anyway, I try to strengthen our central midfield by adding a body. I decided to bring on Mandouki as a defensive midfielder, changing the formation to a classic 4-1-2-3. I want to keep a closer eye on Lo Celso (AMC).

But the formation switch back fires in the 69' minute. Lo Celso leaves the pocket he has exploring the whole game and position himself right next to Cavani up front. Captain Bong can't keep track on both of them. Veratti finds Lo Celso with a long ball and the little argentinian doesn't make any mistake.

For what is worth, I really like the run from Lo Celso...

3526309_LoCelso.thumb.gif.ebe0f083801fa22760a58e2c715151b4.gif

72' minute
Just three minutes after, PSG exploits our left before switching the play to Neymar. The brazilian finds Cavani in front of goal who scores the winning goal on a volley. SAD!

Seem to have gained some respect from Tuchel... Well, I will continue to criticise their transfer policy....

Yeah, maybe a little too brave? I usually like to use a wide playmaker when playing against a high pressing 423. Might need to create something for next season.

November 2019

Just after the derby against PSG we faced off Angers... and they destroyed us. They dominated the game with their 4-4-2 and just like in the game against PSG tried to take control of the play with a formation change to 4-1-2-3. No luck and Angers scored 2 late goals. But we face off the two teams at the top and got zero points. Didn't fancy having to we welcome Lyon to Paris at this point. But hey, we managed to beat them and we did so with ease. Our best match so far! They had really low condition for some reason. Right-footed Karamoko replaced Etienne after his injury against PSG and dominating!

Our best striker Dylan Saint-Louis injured himself against Lille and is out for 4 weeks. Since we are insanely thin on strikers we had to make a tactical change, dropping the DLF to the AM strata and adding some PIs to mirror the settings for the DLF. Should be interesting

December - January 2019/2020

Had some time to play FM this weekend.

Adama Sarr scored six (!) times during December and is on fire. Bakayoko picked up the torch in November scored in three straight matches.
Also played in some cups, advanced in both domestic cups after a late winner against Rennes (Dylan Saint-Louis in the 93rd minute) and almost lost a 4-1 lead against Strasbourg. We then drew Monaco in both cups.

They are now managed by Jorge Jesus following the sack of Henry. And they smashed us.

PSG still haven't lost a game in the league so far and look to run away with. Angers still impressing though.

We are closing in on the 40 points that media always bring up as a "safe zone"

This schedule hasn't been kind to our thin squad. I tried to sign a few a back-up forward in January but already being waaay of the wage budget didn't give us much room to operate without ditching 4-5 players. And since we didn't manage to off-load any the squad remains the same.

Win the next game, then start worrying about pulling a "Liecester"!

In fact you should at least try to make Europa Cup for some extra money.....especially in the early years of building a team from nothing. Champions League is great if you can get it, but in Ligue 1, Europa League is a better consideration.

February 2019 - youth intake

This came early and new HOYD Dominique Bijotat seems to be happy about this work as he boasts about a "golden generation". That remains to be seen but I like the look of the future striker partners Borie & Kiaku, coming out of central Paris & Aubervillies (Seine-Saint Denis). They are already tearing it up in the u19 series. I also like the look of defensive midfielder Frank Priso from Boulogne Billancourt (Haute de Seine). Overall I like that this batch of players had slightly better personalities than the previous (still not great...)

I notice that this intake was very young and the plans for the upcoming years is to invest in good coaches for the U19 and also the training facilities. As soon as I have the money ofc.
Bijotat can stay another year...

In the first U19 fixtures Kiaku have scored LOTS. Which is very promising.

Strange month, lots of goals and old man Vincent Demarconnay seem to have lost his ability to move and are conceding some easy goals. Since he has announced his retirement after this season I am thinking of playing Haidara instead. Jorge jesus and Monaco knocked us out from yet another cup. They seem re-born and we will have to fight to keep hold of the last EL qual spot.

I love Adama Sarr. He might no be born in Paris but he scores a lot.

The extra would be needed for sure. Way of the wage budget and the board have started to complain.

Monaco is coming strong now under Jorge Jesus and will make a push for the euro spots. They are still in the cups however while we have a pretty generous amount of training days between the matches going forward

March 2019

Kings of Paris (at least for one night....)
A little sooner than I thought but we manage to beat PSG!

Taking the lesson from last time we went into turtle mode after our goal. With this team I haven't played this before.
Although we are still very early in this quest for local talent from Paris we managed to include 10 players in the squad from Paris.

Here it is, the historical goal from Dylan Saint-Louis.

Part from the fantastic result against PSG we had a painful month against pretty good opponents.
Never stood a chance against either Angers or Lyon.

The win against Lille secured both the Ligue 1 spot and the best-ever position for the club. Happy times.
After his two goals Adama Sarr got injured and missed the following matches. And with him our attacking potency went.

Did you make the Europa Cup?

NEVER sell to Mourinho! (Unless it is a super offer. $50 million+)

You need your young stars to build a foundation especially if you missed continental play and the extra money.

May 2019

Against Saint Etinne we were 3-0. Draws 3-3.
Against Marseille we were 3-0 up. Loses 3-4.

wtf

All season we had a very very slim squad and towards the end we just couldn't pull through. But we are happy anyways with our first season in Ligue 1 and aim to build on that.

Against Rennes in the last game we played our first academy player when Richard Costa got the nod to start at right back. He paid me back with assist. He might Hopefully he can be part of the match squad a little more next season. Our first choice right back Vincent Rufli have the most mistakes in the entire league which isn't something I'm happy with. Especially not since he is 31y old and not from the local area.

I just have to highlight the surreal contribution Adama Sarr had at the business end of the season. Even though the team struggled, he carried the offense in a very satisfying way in the deep lying forward-role.

No, missed out unfortunately :(

I am actually quite suprised that came to visit to see Bernede as he haven't played in the first XI that much. Not only Manchester U are interested so hoping for a bidding war!

Review & squad evaluation
review.thumb.PNG.9fddd7495a19842ff5b6f9535c740e21.PNG

Even though I am happy with the season I think it would be good to have a look at all the positions to see if we need to upgrade or even change something.
I have separated the squad into Goalkeepers, central defenders, fullbacks, central midfielders, wingers and strikers. From there we can see the following the highlighted attributes for the positions + the proposed club DNA followed by some stats important for the positions.

Goalkeepers
GK.thumb.PNG.a4700c5679402a8d5e648c2538cb5ca3.PNG

Vincent Demaconnay have played the majority of the matches. Calvin Haidara filled his placed when he was injured and the odd cup game. Demaconnay have announced his retirement after this season despite having one more year on his deal. No big loss actually as he has declined quite a bit during the year. Having a short goalie playing sweeper keeper with awful physical stats (pace, agility) proved to be a very bad idea. Also, I don't like his personality as I want my senior goalkeeper to mentor the young ones. A new signing is essential here as Haidara is not prepared to be no1 and academy players Berthé still hasn't lost his bad personality

Future plan: Sign a quality goal keeper with good personality to cover this position for the coming years and develop Berthé. Might send Haidara on loan.

Central defenders

CB.thumb.PNG.b55d4ad02afd6c735d5a05836f48c19c.PNG

Same thing here, wasn't much rotation here. Captain Bong & Yohou played almost the entire season. Frédéric Bong is being a force back there, really happy with some of his stats. Looking at this Koné maybe should have played a bit more. The age of Bong is soon becoming a problem and all three central defenders are quite similar; tall, strong and right footed. Should need some more depth and a left foot. Academy not producing anything here unfortunately.

Future plan: Bring in a young left footed player. Replace Bong after this season (probably)

FBs.thumb.PNG.e107b8a8fe215ec45c7876301a1ef72c.PNG

Fullbacks

There is some work to be done here. Yohan Etienne is my best fullback and works good on left side but I do not have any back-up here. On the right side, I wouldn't mind letting Rüfli and/or Karamako go as their performance (Rüfli) or attributes (Karamako) just isn't good enough. Another solution would be look at the tactical set-up on the right side as Rüfli seem to be very prone to mistake (highest count of all the players in Ligue 1). Rüfli have a "good left foot" so might keep him if a decent left back back-up isn't found. Aim to include Richard Costa to the first team as he might benefit to mentoring + many of his stats are OK/good for a 16yo.

Future plan: Ditch Karamako and/or Rüfli and bring in 2 new fullbacks OR change the tactical set-up. Maybe look at a Inverted fullback tactic?

Central midfielders

CM.thumb.PNG.f8a545227c37ec5bea538aa5b2451f13.PNG

I included Julien Lopez here. Even if his is starting on the wing as a Inside Forward I don't see him as a winger. But unfortunately I don't have anyone to compare him with. It is also unfair to compare Mandouki with Bernede (for example) as they are playing with different tasks on the field. But that goes without saying.

What we can see is that Bourgrine have better stats than Bernede in almost every category. He creates more chances, more key passes, more shots and even more interceptions per 90 min. He have more mistakes but that is acceptable.
Mandouki have similar stats as first choice Akichi but have a better stat when it comes to interceptions. Given he is natural as a BWM when Akichi is a BBM.

Future plans: Letting Garland Gbelle & Alexander Viera go from this bunch. Other than that I'm quite happy with this set-up for the coming season. Bougrine/Bernede as the AP role & Akichi/Mandouki as the defensive midfielder. Might promote Priso from the u19 as the third choice for the latter position and make him available for tutoring.

wingers.thumb.PNG.53b21f37e3ac87fe3731191912ea743d.PNG

Wingers

Axel Bakayoko & Fumu-Tamuzo is battling for the position as right side winger. I have favoured Bakayoko but looking at this I might have made the wrong decision? Fumu-Tamuzo have better stats in almost all categories. Interesting.
Letting Ourega go and will promote Sylvain Dugain as the third choice and make him available for mentoring

Future plans: Nothing for the forthcoming season. Both wingers needs to prove their spot in this squad.

Strikers

strikers.thumb.PNG.8a65f65e1768589733e6f4f169c3c7f2.PNG

Wow, this duo. Sarr coming in second fir the golden boot & best scorer in Ligue 1 the past year. And Dylan Saint-Loius had the most assists in the league. Love these guys even though Sarr is not from the area.

Future plans: No need for any major amendments but will need to bring in a back-up striker and maybe promote one of the strikers from the "golden gen". Those guys are like 14 years old so maybe no rush.

Summary
1. New goalkeeper
2. Back up for Yohann Etienne at left back
3. Back-up striker
4. Add a centre defender to the roster. Left-footed is a dealbreaker

5. Should also try and save money to be able to upgrade the training facilities. Not liking the lack of progress here.

I also plan to create a more defensive tactic to be able to close some matches. Losing 3-0 leads twice in the last month was very... bad? Temped to change the inside forward to a advance playmaker as I want him operated centrally behind the strikers, that would also give me the option to strengthen the central midfield with a runner rather than a playmaker. We had some problems with top heavy teams, Monaco and their 4-2-4 especially. But that is for later.

Great Season! too bad about Europe...which would have given you some funds for upgrades.

Really BAD Year for ST. Etienne that sucks...since they are my favorite French Team.

I kind of think of them as the French equivalent of the Chicago Cubs of American Baseball...when they were on their 108 year title drought!

Pre-season, transfers & Tuchel

tranfser.thumb.PNG.018e2cec76b998e2ba4191e9caafe4e7.PNG

- I really liked the look of Benjamin Lecomte so I decided to splash the cash here. He replaces Demaconnay as both keeper and vice-captain. I actually think he is perfect for us.
- Kevin Fortune comes in as the back-up striker. He should work as the deep-lying forward and Adama Sarr can move up to the advanced forward role. He was very cheap with great mental stats.
- Needed more depth behind Julien Lopez as the inside forward. Even though Alexis Claude-Maurice is a central player by his nature but I think he can to the job from the wing. Also have some plans for a 4-4-1-1 as well...
- Alec Georgen comes in on a free from PSG. Hoped to off-load Karamako or Rüfli here but no luck. However, like the potential and his club DNA attributes
- Last player in was Jordan Pierre-Charles, I was looking for a younger left-footed CB but when I couldn't find a suitable back-up for Yohann Etienne I went for Jordan as he can play both positions with those attributes. Two birds in one stone.

Overall quite happy with the dealings this off-season. The transfer budget was quite hefty compared to the funds in our pockets. Meaning I could sign players but not convince the board to invest in the training facilities. Hopefully soon...

This is the squad I go to war with for the third season of this project. The depth is much better this season I can hope we can avoid the collapse we had at the end of the previous season.

This is our mentoring set-up at the moment. Since the players in the senior squad train in different units my thinking is that the mentoring groups should reflect that to make sure the younger players spends as much time as possible with the mentor on the training pitch. Not sure this is the best way but we'll try it!

I choose the following three as my squad mentors:
Benjamin Lecomte for his personality. Main purpose with this is to develop Berthé and get rid of his awful personality.
Frédéric Bong for being team captain & team leader. Also decent balanced personality and OK mental stats.
Kevin Fortune for his personality and mental stats. I have quite high hopes for Kiaku & Borie so hope to develop their mental attributes

Local talent
20 players from the 26 are from the region surrounding Paris. Breakdown below. For this transfer window I have created a player search filter for Paris + the regions included in the Petir Couronne, when the clubs grow we might have to look at the Grande Couronne.

77% of the squad comes from Île-de-France

-------------------------------------------------------------
69% come from the Petit Couronne (which was the outlined as the target area for recruitment)
42% comes from Paris
15% comes from Haut-de-Seine (Jordan Pierre-Charles, Alec Georgen, Adama Berthé, Sylvain Dugain)
11% comes from Seine-Saint-Denis (Samuel Yohou, Alexis Claude-Maurice, Garpard Borie)
8% comes from the Grande Couronne (Dylan Saint-Denis, Richard Costa)
-------------------------------------------------------------
23% doesn't meet the home-grown requirements

1467133843_Skrmklipp.thumb.PNG.4a6799c77dbb9ba9ce43720ce1ec8b4c.PNG

Pre-season done and dusted. Easy fixtures where everyone got minutes and are match fit. The youngsters also got some game time and impressed. Doubtful if they get any minutes in the league since they are all so young.

First half of the season

league.thumb.PNG.ec78f8590943744c094bb14f32e56932.PNG

So, I have played the first half of the season and the season is going very well. With a little meatier squad we hope to push for European qualification and finally make some money. We still score a lot but have been better to close matches with a 4-5-1 version of the existing tactic. Dylan Saint-Louis have been on fire while the top scorer from last year Adama Sarr have been quite the opposite, only scoring twice in the league.

A few highlights from the first half of the season so far.

bong.thumb.PNG.7bec3d6ebd13cc5cba9f6b841fd41bc9.PNG

The little "rebellion" was ended rather quickly. I dropped Bong for a short time, playing Koné & Youho but every time Bong got the chance he delivered so no hard feelings. Not for the moment at least.

lecomte.thumb.PNG.81ed33c09c12cd08225c2be8e03e0bc7.PNG

Lecomte scored against Nantes from the spot. By mistake I chose him as the penalty kick taker and he bagged it. Phew!

saint.thumb.PNG.92b3b0ff24f44a04f402c81b94690958.PNG
This came in late of the first half. Arguably my best player and in the beginning of the season Dylan was magnificent, only Pellegri have scored more so far. This is a very hard blow as Adama Sarr have not been able to scored in the capacity as last year. As a result of this injury I move Adama Sarr to the role of the Advanced forward and Kevin Fortuné come in as the deep-lying. The latter has quite good work ethic so thinking of trying the pressing forward on support.

Tuchel.thumb.PNG.594080508bce9998eaceaf2e22147bdd.PNG

Always this guy... This time I didn't even had to say anything.

100.thumb.PNG.004398dd3f246a634c3a219c69beabf2.PNGaward.thumb.PNG.70452c56e5a933dc374d6df6b8bfc197.PNG

Worth something I guess.

adama.thumb.PNG.2a5ef7e4f988c3a7ed4fb99c0349ab74.PNG

The mentoring finally worked! After only 6 months at the club Benjamin Lecomte is not only team leader but he managed to change the personality of Adama Berhté from Unambitious to Fairly professional. Very glad over this.
As a result I deem Adama ready to advance to my back-up keeper, still available for the U19 team. Sent Calvin Haidara to Le Mans on loan. I had plan on doing this already but when he demanded a loan it was an easy decision.

dugain.thumb.PNG.30b5280e47bf8a6d00076c04dc8dec9c.PNG

dugain2.thumb.PNG.3bd67747648941f3c811dfcc05b41d0a.PNG

Academy player (and third choice on the right wing) Sylvain Dugain got the nod in the cup fixture against Caen and he delivered! 1 goal & 3 assist and a match rating on 9.4. Well done.

AC Milan came sniffing around Lecomte and placed a loan bid with and optional fee on €5m. Obviously turned it down since I don't have a replacement in the squad or any money to go shopping. Milan still have Gianluigi Donnarumma as their first choice and Robin Olsen as back-up. They are however selling Antonio Donnarumma but I'm not sure what they want Lecomte for but he wanted the move so I agreed to sell him if anyone bid €6.25m. I have Maxence Prevot line-up as the replacement if anything should happen.

Glad to see you using the Academy.

I had a player rebellion in my save (as a new 21 yo manager at Viktoria Plzen in 2040) ended up selling the main instigators.

Do you have a lot of Backup players whining for playing time?

Also too bad about Sarr...but that seems to be a theme in this years FM. No Striker is a consistent goal machine.

We did it! A fantastic February showed the way. We lost the fourth place to Marseille in the last game of the season but hell, who cares.

The Golden Generation from last year was followed up by this rubbish. Only Adama Sinara worth mentioning but he came with a pretty bad personality. I decided  to put him in the first team squad and the goalkeeper mentor group with Lecomte & Berthé (both fairly professional). After just 6 months he had a balanced personality. I have a hard time seeing him as more than a back-up Adama Berthé given he is older, better & has a better personality.

costa.thumb.PNG.d1e96e7b9f93075d4452396f6c05e49c.PNG

Academy player Richard Costa is another player who had a positive effect of the mentoring. From "Realist" to "Spirited". Rüfli wanted to move back to Switzerland so I promoted Costa to the back-up to Georgen so he has been given a fairly amount of game time this season. I can Costa playing in this team for a long time and being a mentor himself.

I splashed almost my entire budget on Lecomte last year but what a signing he has been. Highest average rating in the league and came in second behind Navas as the Goalkeeper of the year (clearly winning by reputation). Milan placed that loan bid I mentioned in the previous post men never came back. Now Sassuolo have been sniffing around without placing a official bid. Hope we can keep him now that we have European cups to offer.

No, not that many actually. Maybe 1-2 each season and I don't rotate that heavily either. In France, some months are really cramped (like February) and others are almost like off-season. Guessing they make room for European football or someting.. Thanks for reading!
