I think that Plymouth job came at just the right time! It felt like you were starting to give in! New lease of life!

Thanks guys, and yes, I think you have a point, andychar. Hopefully I can have a really good season this time and win the title.

I set up what I thought was a challenging preseason, with a couple of easy games against local teams to finish off and build confidence for the new season. I certainly wasn't expecting it to go this well

1270040658_Jul2022.thumb.PNG.6bf35454dcefa643e665bf768985fff3.PNG

and we were certainly busy in the transfer market, making 8 signings

Good Job Pilgrim!

Just remember to not exile yourself to America and start a holiday tradition! LOL

We made a pretty decent start to the season, winning five of our first seven league games. Unusually, the league season kicked off in July, but as there was only one game, I've included it in my August review

1299056625_Aug2022.thumb.PNG.a7fdd78a8cdf84d68774f640f7e68bf0.PNG

and that was enough to end August top of the league

1387934913_Aug2022table.thumb.PNG.7c16f97943cd9ea37dd42c4fcb2b4b60.PNG

winning me my first Manager of the Month at Argyle

Swindon away was really annoying, as we were absolutely awful. Cambridge away was frustrating, as we let slip a 3-1 lead by conceding two late goals

We were one match away from a perfect October

1888147597_Oct2022.thumb.PNG.e933e822219176649cd0b1f4b8f76416.PNG

and that defeat to Barnet means Swindon have opened up a bit of a gap at the top. We remain second, but it's tight behind us

Our only defeat in November was in the cup, and 7 points out of 9 in the league was not bad. We also lost on penalties to Cambridge

963830677_Nov2022.thumb.PNG.67a3eec7e8dd7943bbb3d7bab556696b.PNG

and end the month still second, the gap now 7 points

180167230_Nov2022table.thumb.PNG.93c7b4d843f47d9763557f79c9df4d69.PNG

but we won our Checkatrade Trophy group, and will face Exeter in the next round

An unbeaten month in the league in December, but cup disappointment against our fiercest rivals

1657708296_Dec2022.thumb.PNG.7d6968ccbafd527d38f0b0497d565e53.PNG

leaves us second in the table, four clear of third place, with a home game against leaders Swindon next up. We must win to have any chance of landing the title

Would a takeover be a good thing? Financially at least.

Is Plymouth a fans club?

Well there isn't much money around the club at the moment, so it can't make it worse. Not a fan owned club as such, but owner Simon Hallett is a fan and grew up in the city. He lives in America now though.

I always like my Fullbacks/wingbacks to have a little more crossing ability...but not bad since I guess this is why you were shipping goals in January.

(I often retrain wide midfielders and defensive wingers)

Shocking Loss to GRIMSBY!

Two wins from 4 in Feb, and a shocking defeat to Exeter

332520874_Feb2023.thumb.PNG.54b9beb4439c24baf9d755a14841c138.PNG

which keeps us second, but means we still have a lot to do to secure promotion

March was so bad I ended up arranging a friendly at the end, just to give the lads a bit of confidence

and it looks like we're playoff bound again

The first leg of the semi final was a belter. We held a two goal lead on two occasions

625657390_POSF12023.thumb.PNG.460be12985fb7c8e8ff245755f9dc6ce.PNG

but would that be enough? Could we see the job through at Home Park? The second leg was an even better game

1563184703_POSF22023.thumb.PNG.93b0a87b8d40bb6e22c53f8b0e2b45c1.PNG

and we're through to Wembley, one win from promotion

I did get one with Torquay as well, but hopefully there'll be another one with Argyle. Just don't expect it to be this season!

That was a mental end - goals 88, 89, 90+1, 90+3 and a missed pen in 90+3!

It was, although the goal on 90+3 was a rebound after the penalty was saved

Congratulations on Promotion!

Is the squad ready for League One?  I always find it the hardest to win and the easiest to get relegated from, because a lot of teams loan quality players with lots of flair and Deadball skills.

I'm trying to bring in some players now, will post transfers with my preseason update later

There were quite a few squad changes. These players were all released

In truth I wanted a couple more players, a winger and a striker would have been great. I'll keep trying, but due to funds and the fact the transfer window is now closed, it'll have to be a loan or an unattached player.

Congrats on the Promotion! Hopefully you've got the team to stay up!

How's my local team (Gillingham) doing? They still floating in League One?
